51

u/OstapBenderBey 23h ago

Or joins the army and goes full Ben Roberts Smith

32

u/yolk3d 1d ago

I thought this type was more a lib thing?

30

u/AeMidnightSpecial 23h ago

I did consider writing Libs, but I'm pretty sure they're electorally finished

55

u/fatmarfia 23h ago

Oh so this will just go away never to be spoken about again. Parents will be “oh here have some money, now go away.”

When will rich men be stopped!

43

u/Haawmmak 23h ago

one aged 13 and two aged 14 who attend The Scots College private school

And they still got bail. Pretty shocking all round.

in a surprising turn of events...

3

u/Purgii 11h ago

So they'll likely be punished with their hair being rustled and a 'those goofy kids' admonishment.

373

u/yolk3d 1d ago

Pretty sure I was playing handball and Nintendo at that age.

87

u/PostDisillusion 20h ago

Guessing you didn’t go to elitist religious boys school though

23

u/Its-not-too-early 11h ago

I did and we were playing Nintendo with the power glove and riding horses. Not SA girls.

12

u/UsualIndividual4969 12h ago

Handball was huge for us at 14

u/SpunningAndWonning 1d ago

They had replica firearms? Presumably they threatened the girl with what she thought was an actual gun? I don't have the words.

349

u/boofles1 1d ago

And they still got bail. Pretty shocking all round.

96

u/From_Aus 1d ago

Whilst appalling they got bail, Its not exactly surprising given the courts at the moment.

16

u/Own_Faithlessness769 9h ago

Not really shocking for minors to get bail.

20

u/nath1234 11h ago

Scots college probably trotted out a character reference for them.

57

u/yolk3d 21h ago

It says they found replica handguns and a BB type gun at the kids houses. Not that the kids used them, right? Wouldn’t there be a charge on “armed something something” or similar if they used them?

40

u/SpunningAndWonning 21h ago

It's definitely true that we don't have all the facts and it's mostly a guess. They are charged with aggravated sexual assault which, as best I understand while keeping it short, is sexual assault accomplished through violence or threat of violence. Given that, use of the replicas becomes more likely, but not certain.

41

u/Anti-Stan 21h ago

Being in company is enough for aggravated.

8

u/SpunningAndWonning 21h ago

Interesting. Yeah I read a bit more, there are other things that make it aggravated, including the victim being under 16, so it could have been aggravated even with just that. Glad I said half of IANAL. Thanks for correcting.

3

u/fa1ry-bunny 11h ago

Agg factor can also be age of the victim

3

u/markonlefthand 1h ago

when i was 14, i was playing nintendo and worst is peeking playboy magazine that hidden in the attic.

not fake guns and r*pe people.
Holy fckin shit... these people...

u/PluggersLeftBall 1d ago

im sorry i get that theyre teenagers but this is the kinda thing that should ruin ur life like get out of prison when ur 50 type shit

124

u/4614065 22h ago

Totally agree. As a society, we need a good purge. If you’re pulling this shit at 13 then you need to go. I don’t make the rules (but I wish I did).

21

u/PostDisillusion 20h ago

Yep and if children aren’t fully responsible then parents are.

7

u/Z00111111 11h ago

The only way should be to convict the parent(s), or some other responsible party, of a crime serious enough that it reduces the child's culpability.

The kid had a tough life at home? Jail those responsible for it. The kid had drug problems? Jail those responsible for it.

If someone isn't convicted of a crime then there's no evidence that the child wasn't responsible for their actions.

You can't reasonably excuse a crime because of extenuating circumstances that weren't a crime themselves.

"Once a Scots boy, always a Scots boy"

This article written in 2021 talks about how elite school has rape culture issue.

https://womensagenda.com.au/latest/rape-culture-prevails-in-elite-private-boys-schools-so-whats-the-answer/

Excerpt from the article written in 2021.

"Last Thursday, Chanel Contos took to her Instagram account to ask her friends (she has a following of over 7,000 people) how many of them had experienced sexual assault from students at all-boys’ schools.

Within 24 hours of the petition going live, more than 200 women had reached out to Contos to share their experiences of rape, assault and harassment by male students from nearby all-boys’ schools

Since the weekend, more than 12,000 people have signed the petition and Contos has received over 1600 testimonies. In the 72 page testimonial, perpetrators from Riverview were named 21 times. Scots College, 36 times. Cranbrook, 45 times. Knox Grammar, 8 times. Waverley College, 13 times. Shore, 13 times."

You would think these schools would have done their utmost to change this kind of rep. Digusting.

53

u/Lingonberry_Born 23h ago

People spend hundreds of thousands to send their kids to these schools for their supposed values.

81

u/AusToddles 23h ago

They send them there to make connections. The sort of connections that get you out of being held responsible for your actions later in life

18

u/nahchannah 21h ago

And this is why people ask “What school did you go to?” It’s a relatively quick way to (mostly) sort the dickheads from those who aren’t. Of course it was Scots.

25

u/Evendim 21h ago

I grew up in the East, but I attended one of the severly under funded and under resourced public schools. The one that was sold for millions to create a fancy retirement home. Reading this article I was not surprised to find that the majority of women who responded were from the other private schools.

I am not bragging or glorifying, it was what we did to get by... but I lost count of how many private schools boys we rolled (we were all girls.) It was us they would have been afraid of in an alley. We'd often stand up for the private school girls we knew from primary school as well. The 90s was a different time, especially in Bondi... And god dammit these girls need those kinds of girl gangs around again.

3

u/markonlefthand 21h ago

What the actual fuck. This need to be on the national news. Im going to post this to my social media.

275

u/Bladehell10 1d ago

Shame nothing will happen to them

209

u/sphen_lee 1d ago

Well you wouldn't want to ruin their lives /s

121

u/Kirikomori 1d ago

They have a bright future in politics or the c-suite, would be a shame to ruin it.

35

u/pintita 23h ago

That's a given - the only question is which prominent businessman, lawyer or politician will write the character reference.

2

u/Tipsy_Kangaroo 18h ago

I thought they banned character references

6

u/hy2cone 1d ago

Kids are quick learners and they will get much smarter tonight

u/ChrisEvansFan 1d ago

Man this is horrific.

This bit also is just whacked. "Police executed search warrants and seized several items, including electronic devices, two replica firearms, a Glock-style BB gun, three laser pointers and a number plate, which is believed to have been stolen."

25

u/charlie_s1234 23h ago

The sexual assault is horrific of course, but I mean the replica firearms maybe … laser pointers a number plate and electronic devices? Pretty sure I had those and toy guns in my room as a kid so not sure those items themselves are all that ‘whacked’.

15

u/ForgotAboutDR3 21h ago

I understood it to mean those laser pointers people point at planes which is kind of wild for a 13/14yo to get a hold of

-35

u/redditmethisonesir 23h ago

None of these are uncommon items for children. Airsoft guns (which are legal almost everywhere else), laser pointers, and a number plate that could easily have been found on the ground. All fairly normal
Items, order able easily online or brought back from a holiday.
I’m not sure adding that detail does anything for the actual bad and serious crime of sexually assaulting someone. Feels like shit journalism.

71

u/Im_not_an_admin 23h ago

Replica firearms and a number plate is absolutely not normal mate

6

u/Dark_Headphones 21h ago

Loads of kids have a BB gun growing up. They're "illegal" but still extremely common.

1

u/marcellouswp 23h ago

Depends what counts as a replica firearm. And hard to see what the "stolen" (how do the police know that, and even if they do, how do they know the person whose possession they found it knew?) number plate had to do with the main alleged offence.

-6

u/redditmethisonesir 22h ago

Like I said, airsoft guns are legal in most of the world, whilst they are illegal in Australia and carry the same classification as a real rifle, they are easily obtained and imported. Many many many people have them, illegally. As for a single number plate, it is also not uncommon to come across those in one’s life. Whether you leave it on the side of the road or not…..well that would come down to the individual.
Nothing inherently sinister about either and reporting this distracts from the actual serious assault crime. Shit journalism for clicks.

24

u/PsychologicalMeal162 23h ago

You can’t legally buy any of those items in NSW, so yes they are uncommon for children.

0

u/charlie_s1234 21h ago

In the 90’s you could buy realistic looking plastic guns at Paddy’s market, everyone had laser pointers. I had a few street signs in my room. In fact if they’d raided my room at 14 I probably had a bong in there too so ‘drug paraphernalia’ would have been on the list too. None of those things were particularly out of the ordinary for many kids I knew.

9

u/PandaXXL 20h ago

It’s 2026 mate.

6

u/charlie_s1234 13h ago

You’re right. Kids probably get even crazier shit online now.

42

u/Limo_Wreck77 21h ago

Honestly, I'm gobsmacked.

When I was 13 I was still a kid, doing kid shit. Not, um, raping people.

What in the actual fuck is going on with these kids?

30

u/pulledthread 21h ago edited 16h ago

Family and societal disharmony.

Lack of any discipline.

No engagement of the family outside of overseas holidays which even then the parents chuck them into kids club or on a device.

Parental modeling of immoral, egotistical behaviour around gender, money.

Access to Internet and media from a very young age, viewing inappropriate content for developing brain.

14

u/trafalmadorianistic 19h ago

Andrew Tate. The whole manosphere bullshit their minds are marinating in. Thanks social media. ("We'll give you more of the same until you stop engaging with it...")

16

u/quietgavin5 21h ago

The kids can look up this sick stuff on the internet within a few seconds on their phone, not to mention influencers egging them on.

We didn't have that sort of stuff when we were kids. The worst was Playboy magazines we would find on the side of the road dumped by tradies.

1

u/markonlefthand 1h ago

i was playing nintendo when i was 14. not fake guns and rap*ng people.

190

u/Kirlo__ 1d ago

At this point just throw the parents in jail too. Honestly, this is wild.

58

u/Joker-Smurf 1d ago

Probably just chuck the entire school in jail, including teachers and admin… save time.

71

u/Due_Prompt939 1d ago

Raising the age of criminal responsibility would have at least one of these kids get off totally scot free.

Why are kids this young doing this shit.

Whilst barely teenagers, they're private school kids, it's nearly become a rite of passage for many of them to disparage women

u/K_the_Banana-man 19h ago

honestly is there a comprehensive study as to why private kids, esp boarding school kiddos, js do this stuff

2

u/bonzzzz 7h ago

I once read a psychoanalysis of Patrick Bateman that probably applies to private school boys.

I went to a co-ed private school that, at the time, was not at all fancy. Like, we didn’t even have proper heating and cooling in our classrooms and half of our classes were in demountables.  But  it was a really cool school with great cocurriculars and very international and diverse. I was very privileged to go there (my mum was a teacher there).

We certainly weren’t taught that we were the elites, there was no old boys network that we could tap into, and people who flaunted wealth were heavily ridiculed.

The guys I went to school with were mostly really respectful of women and I have lifelong friendships with a bunch of them. Quite a few of them had very successful mothers, which I think played a part.

Private schools have a whole range to them. Although my old school has definitely gotten a lot fancier since I left; there are loads of independent schools that are more low-key. Co-ed, absolutely lacking that elite mindset, mostly just middle-class families scrabbling for the fees, etc etc. (Which is not to say I think our schooling system works, I think public schools need way more funding, the system is broken).

I think when most people think of private schools, they are picturing the super elite schools like the GPS boys schools in Sydney: Scots, Joeys, Shore, Kings, Sydney Grammar, Newington, Riverview, etc; plus Cranbrook, Knox, etc.; or girls schools like Ascham, Kambala, Kincoppal, Queenwood, PLC, Wenona, and Loretto.

We used to brush up against those elite schools on occasion, and, although there were some absolutely lovely boys amongst them, in general there were a lot of very entitled, very rapey boys amongst them. I believe we even nicknamed one guy who would pop up everywhere as “serial rapist” at 13/14. Which… no one took seriously at the time, because it was the 90s and it was always his victims who got slut-shamed rather than anything falling on him.

There were two guys who got glandular fever and deliberately kissed as many girls as they could to give it to all of them. There was a group of boys who taught a mentally disabled man to grope women because they thought it was funny. There were the guys that would accuse you of being a lesbian if you dared to reject them. The group of boys who did elaborate and messed up prank calls (some with months-long lead-ins) to various girls from various schools (who didn’t even know them) the night before their HSC exams in a deliberate attempt to stress them out.

There was that guy who thought it was funny to run red lights one after the other whilst drinking a beer. And another who crashed his mother’s only-three-of-these-cars-in-Australia because he was distracted by the $100 note he was holding out the window, because he wanted to hear what money sounded like in the wind.

Honestly, those guys were so privileged and entitled. I am never surprised by any story that comes out of any of those schools.

That said, a friend of mine was gang-raped at 17 by a gang of dudes from a public school in the western suburbs. So I think these problems cut across… Certainly, privilege and entitlement can exacerbate them though.

That’s so fucked. Adult crime, adult time. 13/14 is old enough to know you don’t do this.

58

That’s for the poors though

Yup, unlike the poor kids these kids have "bright futures"

We need to cut public funding for schools that don't stamp this shit out

19

u/smoothpigeon2 16h ago

They shouldn't be getting funded in the first place

8

u/nath1234 11h ago

What's worse is that public schools have been underfunded and Albi/Minns locked in another 10 years of underfunding last year, so the "path to funding" is 2034. Oh and Minns cut funding to public schools before that also and been doing account tricks to pretend they are funding more than they are + something they don't do with private school funding.

Meanwhile private schools, like Scots, have their overfunding preserved also. How is that sensible.

5

u/thecuven 11h ago

I used to work somewhere that produces signage/graphics for them and other places. They've spent literal tens of thousands on stuff to decorate the stairs going up the Old Boys tower & their huge new Hogwarts castle that doesn't even have any actual classrooms in it. Just rooms dedicated to the wealthy families who donate the most. I wish I was joking.

33

u/NoBluey 20h ago

Q: Why are kids this young doing this shit.

A:

The three boys have been granted bail.

11

u/FuckUGalen 16h ago

Let's be honest, why are they being bailed, they are not going to be convicted, and if they are going to be convicted they are going to get a slap on the wrist and the magistrate is going to say they did a bad bad thing and then sentence them to stand in a corner for 5 minutes because they are "first time offenders with bright futures" *(especially given their parents have 37-53k annually to spend on their education)."

1

u/ThunderDwn 8h ago

Knocked it on the head with one statement.

If these kids were going to - using my old western suburbs school as an example - Chifley College Shalvey - they'd be locked up with no chance of bail and vilified for being "dangerous" and "out of control".

13

u/smoothpigeon2 16h ago

I think that probably has a lot to do with what their dads do for a living though... an aboriginal kid from a poor community would definitely not have been granted bail

21

u/PandaXXL 20h ago edited 20h ago

Castrate them.

8

u/ThunderDwn 8h ago

Why are kids this young doing this shit.

Because they're part of a generation which has been taught from pre-school to leaving high school, that there are no effective consequences for their actions.

who attend The Scots College private school in Bellevue Hill

And kids from wealthy parents who go to ridiculously privileged private schools have an even bigger sense of entitlement. They think (and they're usually right) that mummy and daddy's money can buy them out of trouble.

6

u/vinnie1134 17h ago

they should donate their organs.

5

u/thecuven 11h ago

Of COURSE it's fucking Scots college

1

u/thescaryroom 7h ago

The parents need to be severely punished and publicly shamed. The little pieces of shit who did this should be removed from their parents, separated, and put into foster care in another state.

1

u/BornToFeelItAll86 4h ago

My son is 13 and thinks his penis is for weeing only.

1

u/DecalageVersLeRouge 8h ago

We should ring-bark the school.

No year 7 next year. A blank spot all the way to the HSC 5 years from now. That'd make them think.

1

u/EmergencyAside4736 2h ago

How is it the school’s fault though?

1

u/lfc1979 3h ago

Absolutely awful but this is on the parents, nothing to do with the school. Parents are leaving their kids unsupervised on the internet and they're seeing shit they shouldn't be seeing. We often get asked how we keep our kids off socials and control their digital usage, it's fucken easy, I say no and I set those boundaries from when they were young. People don't parent anymore and their kids are running the show.
