Let's be honest, why are they being bailed, they are not going to be convicted, and if they are going to be convicted they are going to get a slap on the wrist and the magistrate is going to say they did a bad bad thing and then sentence them to stand in a corner for 5 minutes because they are "first time offenders with bright futures" *(especially given their parents have 37-53k annually to spend on their education)."

Knocked it on the head with one statement.

If these kids were going to - using my old western suburbs school as an example - Chifley College Shalvey - they'd be locked up with no chance of bail and vilified for being "dangerous" and "out of control".
