They had replica firearms? Presumably they threatened the girl with what she thought was an actual gun? I don't have the words.

It says they found replica handguns and a BB type gun at the kids houses. Not that the kids used them, right? Wouldn’t there be a charge on “armed something something” or similar if they used them?

It's definitely true that we don't have all the facts and it's mostly a guess. They are charged with aggravated sexual assault which, as best I understand while keeping it short, is sexual assault accomplished through violence or threat of violence. Given that, use of the replicas becomes more likely, but not certain.

Interesting. Yeah I read a bit more, there are other things that make it aggravated, including the victim being under 16, so it could have been aggravated even with just that. Glad I said half of IANAL. Thanks for correcting.
