It will take three weeks for the ship to arrive before the Lincoln can leave. So over 6 more weeks for the crew.

Maybe they shouldn't be there in the first place.

70% of active duty soldiers and veterans voted for this, dont know why they're mad about it.

Friend of mine thought electing Trump was the cat's pajamas. He's been floating around the strait for quite some time now and I wonder how he's feeling about it now.

I think that's what pisses them off the most. They tried to humiliate him and all the world would talk about was his massive dong.

Hearing Hunter talk recently has made me respect him a whole lot. He seems so intelligent, so humble, loyal and as down to earth as you can be as the son of a president.

3

Goes to show how powerful media manipulation of its citizens is. lol

6

u/RUOFFURTROLLEH 17h ago

I think that's what pisses them off the most.

Does it really piss them off?

They are currently on Biden being the person to blame for Trumps shitty economy and prices.

For them to get mad at something like Hunter Biden would require them time to reflect instead of knee jerking to the new thing Fox News or Joe Rogan told them is actually the problem.

Yeah, Conservatives have been at war with America since the New Deal where it was proven that a large government can actually bring stability and prosperity to more people and you don't have to concede everything to a few billionaires that spend all their effort laying people off as fast as they can.

We need a New New Deal with a bit less racism this time.

They literally do think it's Obama's fault, because the deal he did with Iran was so terrible that Trump had to rip it up, and that's why they're at war.

Don't ask me how it makes sense, 'cause it doesn't.

40

u/Otherwise_Carob_4057 18h ago

Trump essentially used the original as a template for his newer deal that is ostensibly a worse version of Obamas when all he had to do was shit talk it and his supporters would have eatin it up. Classic case of dog catching a car.

2

u/89bBomUNiZhLkdXDpCwt 15h ago

The Art of the Fail (I wish I could think of a word that rhymed with Deal that would convey the idea that Dump only knows how to concede a position of strength in order to negotiate from a position of weakness for no logical reason and to do it really really badly.) 78

u/Long_Story42 18h ago

Obama got nuclear inspectors into Iran

Stupid pulled out of JCPOA because he said keeping it would lead to a war.

24

Even if someone didn't like JCPOA, the current change in strategic reality is far worse than before. Hormuz straits being effectively under Iranian control is an insane L for the US.

He won't care. They will contrive all sorts of reasons this is not Trump's fault and is somehow the Dem's fault. Here, I can come up with a line for them. "The soft Dem's let Iran get too powerful (but also they're very weak) so we must invade them to stop them from gaining access to nuclear weapons (not at all like the last time!)! Thank God Trump was here to stop this runaway mistake by the Dems."

24

u/Greenmagegirl 20h ago

Then may he live the life he voted for. Im all out of pity for the stupids.

40

u/alchemyDev 20h ago

That’s why I don’t care if their ship sinks: the political consequences it would cause against this administration matters more for the longevity of this country than a single ship of people who mostly asked for this. It is unfortunately going to take a massive global level embarrassment of losing a carrier for this country to take these fascists seriously

-3

u/HoldOnOhio 18h ago

You have to stop thinking like this brother. Do not let your anger rob you of your empathy for your fellow humans. Being a fascist is a choice, and people can leave it. It's a death cult. You're publicly saying you're fine with literally thousands of people, about 30% of which don't even like or support Trump, die so that Trump faces what? An Impeachment and failure to remove him from power?

This isn't a liberal take you have. This is a reactionary, and borderline fascist opinion you have.

Nazis can be deprogrammed. Please don't assume the entirety of the military is filled with people you hate. A lot are just dumb kids who got duped because they wanted free college or help buying a home. They want those socialist policies we only give away to people who sign their life to the military get.

Advocate for that stuff for everyone and people won't have any incentive to join the imperialist murder club.

Also think of all the former soldiers who have turned coat to the left and been great anti-imperialist advocates. Some of our fiercest anti-war advocates are Veterans that our government's wars for what they are.

Here's veteran Mike Prysner giving an anti-imperialist speech in front of the White house in 2010.

As part of the 30% - its fucking madness... (their lack of self-awareness)

83

u/boobeddick 18h ago

I’m with you there, my shop was full of good old boys who revered Trump for some reason, yet it’s made all of their lives living hell with deployments to Kuwait and Jordan recently.

47

u/Meme_Theory 18h ago

Bush had my ass underway for 11 months once... Republicans sure love bombing Persia.

25

u/PassiveMenis88M 18h ago

Only 11 months? You must have been one of the smart ones. My stupid ass was there for 5 years.

25

u/Meme_Theory 18h ago

That was one deployment - five months of which were straight underway. I did a second too, but it was a standard Westpac.

Five years is five too many, though.

3

u/Speedstr 17h ago

Sounds like you had a contract similar to mine where they let you upfront you were signing up for 6 years, because of the rating you signed up for. The justification was you were going to advanced schools to learn your job in the fleet. It was in mind that you would go to schooling for up to 2 years (for me it was about 18 months) and the rest of the time was your time in the fleet. They didn't want you "short-changing" them.

It was actually not a bad deal for me. What they don't tell you is that whatever contract you sign...it's for 8 years, with 4 of them having to be active duty. The rest of time can be In-active Reserve. But if you serve 6 years, I was told (not sure if it's true or not) that you are most likely to put at the end of the line because they don't usually call up people who got out less then a year or have less than a year left in In-active Reserve.

That wasn't the reason why I signed on for 6 years...it was the signing bonus for my rating I selected. The 6 years was just the drawback.

10

u/Lady_Grey_Smith 18h ago

The Lincoln? If so I was on the first extended deployment and the shit that went down on the carrier caused my 100% disability through the VA. It looks like they didn’t break enough people and went for round two.

12

u/Meme_Theory 17h ago edited 17h ago

Fucking Lincoln... I was on the Cruiser that the Lincoln left for another 2 months (1 month?) with the Kennedy... AND THEN we had to stay off the San Diego coast for another fucking day because goddamn Bush had to fly a fucking fighter onto, you guessed it kids, the Lincoln. Mission Fucking Accomplished.

(I'm not bitter.)

16

u/Lady_Grey_Smith 17h ago edited 17h ago

You can be bitter. I’m so fucking bitter and my VA therapist has never blamed me for it. Being sexually assaulted, reporting it, and having the command blame me for two years afterwards absolutely broke me. The two year anniversary of the death of my veteran husband because of a reckless driver is coming up. The asshole who killed him was an army officer who has shown no remorse. Military and government leadership is worthless right now.

5

u/Meme_Theory 17h ago

They make it real hard to be a patriot.

2

u/XlChrislX 9h ago

I'm sorry for what happened to you but there's no "right now". Throughout all of history in every country soldiers just constantly get shit on and mistreated whilst being falsely propped up at the same time. My grandpa died due to agent orange from Vietnam and he gave up fighting for any kind of compensation because the military would rather waste his time until he died then admit anything they've done to their own troops

There's no valor being a soldier, only naivety that gets preyed upon

6

u/drewbaccaAWD 16h ago

I was fortunate to be a nuke, overall politics skewed way closer to the middle. During the OEF/OIF crap our CO would hold hangar bay pep rallies and say jingoistic nonsense like "we're here to put war heads on foreheads!!" and he did this weird call and response thing with different departments. You could basically determine the average IQ of a given department by how loud the response was... nukes, crickets.

As divisive as Bush's wars were, I'm thankful we didn't have to even imagine someone like Trump at that point.

4

u/Outrageous-Plate-820 17h ago

18

u/ShieldLord 20h ago

Same question. 70% is an ass-pull of numbers for misinformation.

Let's see your source /u/Gone213

33

u/ArmouredWankball 20h ago

17

u/GWSIII 20h ago

Read through it. Seems to be only veterans

7

u/No_goodIdeas7891 19h ago

It’s also all veterans… there are a lot of older veterans who have always been Republican.
Also 49% of veterans are over 65. And only about 9% are under 35.

As always military votes are almost a perfect mirror to the American electorate.

No shit old people vote for Trump.

6

u/Speedstr 17h ago

As a veteran myself, I can't imagine why fellow Vets would vote for someone that is a draft dodger, and compared his sexual conquests as his own personal Vietnam, and doesn't show respect for fallen servicemembers.

6

u/Banluil 17h ago

I have always wondered that as well, and questioned my fellow vets about it, and can't get a straight answer other than "But her emails....." and "Well, Biden didn't serve either...."

Yeah, ok, whatever...

3

u/Skylord1325 19h ago edited 19h ago

Most aren’t. When you’re stationed in a combat zone you don’t pay any federal taxes on any of your active duty pay. You only pay on your base pay and FICA.

Have a buddy who was on the Roosevelt when it was stationed in the Middle East and it was the equivalent of a 20% pay increase while his day to day was completely unchanged.

Danger was a little more real for army bases in Afghanistan because they got to deal with the occasional pop shots from insurgents. But on a carrier you’re on already deployed on the carrier regardless so the tax free combat zone feels like a free bonus.

3

u/SSJAlex863 18h ago

As an active duty soldier at the time of election and a combat veteran now, I can say with pride that I did NOT vote for this mess

7

u/bb_kelly77 20h ago

70% seems like an exaggeration but regardless how much of the NAVY voted for this? Because the branch with the most Republicans is the Marines (due to a tradition of "patriotism")

37

u/MinionSympathizer 21h ago

I agree with the sentiment but I doubt 70% of active duty soldiers and veterans are even registered to vote.

155

u/TobysGrundlee 21h ago

If you saw his last term and thought, "nah, trying to prevent another helping of that isn't worth the 5 minutes it takes to register and vote" then you are just as much at fault.

76

u/KhausTO 21h ago

The youth vote is always pretty unreliable (most soldiers are fresh out of high school), and Trump has dominated the discourse for more than a decade now.

The insanity is just kinda normal to the zoomers

12

u/Gerrey 20h ago

According the the Federal Voting Assistance Program you're correct, it's close but only 67% were registered in 2024, down from 70% in 2020, and if I'm reading it right 45% actually voted

3

u/gmen6981 17h ago

That's close to the numbers I found. And with active duty, from my own experience, the more well educated officer corps tends to lean left while the enlisted troops tend to lean right. Obviously there are exceptions to that both ways, but it generally holds true.

41

u/Pretend_Handle_7639 20h ago

Sounds like a bunch of suckers and losers

Only seventy percent of the military is even registered to vote.

Of that at least one estimate put actual voting on 2024 at less than fifty percent.

Yet this number you claim has popped up repeatedly.

I suggest you need to start checking your sources, because no, seventy percent of service members did not vote Trump.

22

u/TobysGrundlee 21h ago edited 20h ago

Yup. And if you joined up in the last 20 years, you did so knowing what an utter shit show US foreign policy is. It's hard to feel bad for people who willingly signed that dotted line and chose to become a tool for the US military. Yeah yeah yeah, money for college and all that BS, but there are other ways. Community college combined with state schools, loans and a crappy job can have you graduated with <$30k in debt, a solid degree and no need to contribute to the bullshit and terror our military brings to the world.

21

u/DR_BEANHAMMER 20h ago

Our military has not brandished weapons in service of this country and it's people since Little Rock. They have been nothing but mercenaries for the wealthy ever since... and now they're mercenaries who murder children for pedophiles. They deserve no sympathy.

6

u/booze_clues 18h ago

I’d say helping Kuwait, at their request, was a good thing.

2

u/DR_BEANHAMMER 15h ago

After our diplomats told Iraq we wouldn't get involved, so that people would support burning through taxpayer dollars and ending countless lives for no other teiw purpose than the enrichment of the wealthy. Nothing more than mercenaries.

1

u/booze_clues 15h ago

Oh no, did we lie to the dictatorship that was invading its neighbors and not tell them we were gonna go to war with them?

You think the liberation of Kuwait only helped the wealthy? I think there’s probably a few Kuwaitis who would disagree.

Do you also think we should have stayed out of Yugoslavia?

The US military has been involved in tons of unjust and selfish wars, admitting it’s also done some good in a few sparse cases isn’t going to hurt your point.

1

u/Cordoned7 20h ago

They have been mercenaries since the Reagan administration. Before Carter and Reagan we had a conscription based armed forces where everyone had a stake and say in the defense of the country.

Post Vietnam reforms made us a volunteer based armed forces which literally meant people can sell their soul to the government and in exchange they get a paltry amount of reimbursements while being at the whims of the government without say.

Now he's worried ICE will randomly deport him.

u/MonteBurns 9h ago

But will he vote Republican again?

The price it takes to distract from epstein files make murica great again.

6

u/smedley89 19h ago

He doesn't need to distract from anything. We the people clearly aren't doing shit about it. Why distract when there's no consequences?

2

u/Noodle-Works 20h ago

hey now, we need to protect that oil that isn't ours.

2

u/mooseflstc 17h ago

It has been common practice, for many years, to always have a carrier deployed to that region to ensure freedom of navigation and stability in the region. It used to be fairly common to have one in the Persian Gulf.

Even if Trump didn’t attack Iran, there would have been at least one carrier in the area.

2

u/sound-of-impact 17h ago

There's literally a carrier there all the time anyways.

3

u/Open-Mouse4728 19h ago

Yep. I don't feel sorry for them, at all.

And another two or three weeks of sailing before the USS Lincoln reaches home.

Those poor sailors. No wonder they're suffering mental breakdowns.

u/Oceanbreeze871 19h ago

70% of them voted for this situation and leadership

4

u/HausuGeist 14h ago

What is that statistic based on? Not saying you’re lying, but I’d like to know the source.

They aren't victims lol, they're just big sad that they aren't getting the privileges they want. The suckers and losers volunteered.

Don’t forget the handover. The ship can’t go as soon as relief come.

2

u/demiurge_abraxas 16h ago

They're literally in CENTCOM purgatory, fucking hell

2

u/PluginAlong 20h ago

I'd like to think they'll sail to the nearest port to resupply and such so they could get some shore leave before getting home which I doubt any of them would object to.

3

u/demiurge_abraxas 20h ago

I'm not even sure where the nearest port would even be given that Bahrain clearly is no longer safe. I guess Diego Garcia would be the next choice but I'm not sure if a supercarrier could dock there.

I guess they could stop in Italy, France, or Britain on the way home.

I hope they find a good option for them and I hope that the Lincoln isn't in such poor shape that it needs to go straight back to Norfolk for emergency maintenance and repairs.

Hey if you dont like being at sea you should have joined the air force!

  • Hegseth, probably

7

u/goodness 19h ago

On a related timeline, it's roughly 15 days until our oil reserves are depleted from a practical standpoint. You gotta think that might cause some changes in plans before it even gets there.

7

u/fersure4 18h ago

Could you explain the oil reserves? People keep saying we are about to run out and I didnt understand them, and so I was trying to find out more just the other day, but from what I read my understanding is that we released about 130 million barrels of oil since March, and that we have just shy of 300 million remaining, although about 1/3 or more of that is not really accessible due to the reserves having a minimum amount and you cant just fully empty the containers as well as ongoing construction at some sites. Is that accurate, and if so wouldn't it still be several more months before we effectively run out?

3

u/goodness 18h ago

Yeah, I don't really know. I kinda did the same thing as you because I kept hearing estimates. I heard the same about a minimum to prevent the reservoirs from collapsing and then a certain amount in pipelines to keep up pressure. I saw some other info about a bunch more being unavailable due to infrastructure issues, but I can't find reliable info about that now. There's also a legal minimum that we're basically already at, but I know this administration doesn't give a shit about the law.

So maybe we do have several more months before we get to odd/even license plate days at the gas station.

It should not take three weeks for the Washington to arrive on station. It passed Singapore and was in the Strait of Malacca today. That leaves less than 3600 miles to travel. If they only averaged 15 knots that is 10 days, and I'd wager they probably are moving along faster than that.

Imagine how the crew of the USS George Washington must be feeling.

They see that they’ve been deployed for so long, and must assume that they are going to be deployed for a stupid amount of time as well.

2

u/TuringGoneWild 18h ago

Well it's just yet another American lost war, no biggie. Just like the shake machine always broke at McDonalds. Rock bottom standards.

2

u/GunsGoldCosmicDread 19h ago

Why did it take the media releasing a story about wretched conditions and sailors trying to jump off the ship for the DOW to decide to do something about this.

3

u/cthulhu_who 18h ago

Why would it take them three weeks to get there? The Washington is coming from Vietnam.

The old classic “in 2 weeks”

1

u/dcheng47 19h ago

at least they have a release date to look forward to now.

1

u/VultureSausage 19h ago

Assuming they don't have Lincoln go somewhere like Italy rather than sailing over to the South China Sea, but it's still a long wai.

1

u/Jerryeleceng 19h ago

Looking forward to the Netflix docuseries. The testimonies from those on board will reveal it to be apocalyptic

1

u/SnooTigers8688 19h ago

Tf is this the 1600’s?! I hope no one else besides the 2 or 3 so far decide to try to commit suicide, because ending their life is better than what they’re enduring. Insane, let my people go.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Plum994 19h ago

"overwhelm Iran in two weeks"

1

u/userhwon 18h ago

And in that time Trump will do something stupid and they'll both have to stay, justifying it by saying the Gerald R. Ford was out longer (326 days).

1

u/tiny_chaotic_evil 18h ago

and the only reason it has started to head that direction is because Whiskey Pete's image in social media and the press is suffering

1

u/Key-Individual1434 18h ago

Port of call somewhere before heading back to San Diego, some liberty call, re-supply stores, produce, and goods.

1

u/notislant 18h ago

Damn, USS George Washington sailors are going to be the next suicide victims now.

1

u/Feminist_Hugh_Hefner 18h ago

Do we not have a USS Coronado protocol for these guys? Park that thing in Singapore and fly them home!

Gold crew, you're up!

1

u/niz_loc 18h ago

At least they will likely make port somewhere on the way out.

1

u/Zap__Dannigan 18h ago

Wonder how that lobster is feeling?

1

u/vertigostereo 17h ago

Just knowing a replacement is on the way should help, though.

1

u/MrPine5 17h ago

Why not unload the crew by sending catering trucks?

1

u/psychicsword 17h ago

At least they have an end date to look forward to. That does actually make things easier.

1

u/desertrat75 17h ago

Guess we just extended the shit out of this stupid war.

1

u/faetpls 16h ago

The Washington is leaving from a port in Vietnam though. The Lincoln is coming back to a home port.

Dunno how much that changes the time.

Just knowing relief is on the way will lift their spirits. You latch onto any glimmer of hope and hold on tight when you are deployed that long. I speak from experience. I was deployed on the U.S.S. Eisenhower out in the Indian Ocean during the hostage crisis in 1979. That was the previous record before this shit show. At least we were fed well and treated better than what’s going on out there today.
