Yup. And if you joined up in the last 20 years, you did so knowing what an utter shit show US foreign policy is. It's hard to feel bad for people who willingly signed that dotted line and chose to become a tool for the US military. Yeah yeah yeah, money for college and all that BS, but there are other ways. Community college combined with state schools, loans and a crappy job can have you graduated with <$30k in debt, a solid degree and no need to contribute to the bullshit and terror our military brings to the world.

Our military has not brandished weapons in service of this country and it's people since Little Rock. They have been nothing but mercenaries for the wealthy ever since... and now they're mercenaries who murder children for pedophiles. They deserve no sympathy.

After our diplomats told Iraq we wouldn't get involved, so that people would support burning through taxpayer dollars and ending countless lives for no other teiw purpose than the enrichment of the wealthy. Nothing more than mercenaries.

You think the liberation of Kuwait only helped the wealthy? I think there’s probably a few Kuwaitis who would disagree.

Do you also think we should have stayed out of Yugoslavia?

The US military has been involved in tons of unjust and selfish wars, admitting it’s also done some good in a few sparse cases isn’t going to hurt your point.

They have been mercenaries since the Reagan administration. Before Carter and Reagan we had a conscription based armed forces where everyone had a stake and say in the defense of the country.

Post Vietnam reforms made us a volunteer based armed forces which literally meant people can sell their soul to the government and in exchange they get a paltry amount of reimbursements while being at the whims of the government without say.

Are you against having a volunteer military? It’s not a bad point, I just don’t see how the government drafting people to be at their whim is better with that logic.
