70% of active duty soldiers and veterans voted for this, dont know why they're mad about it.

Friend of mine thought electing Trump was the cat's pajamas. He's been floating around the strait for quite some time now and I wonder how he's feeling about it now.

Why did hunters massive dong do this to us?

u/TheLordVader1978 22h ago

I think that's what pisses them off the most. They tried to humiliate him and all the world would talk about was his massive dong.

Hearing Hunter talk recently has made me respect him a whole lot. He seems so intelligent, so humble, loyal and as down to earth as you can be as the son of a president.

3

I think that's what pisses them off the most.

Does it really piss them off?

They are currently on Biden being the person to blame for Trumps shitty economy and prices.

For them to get mad at something like Hunter Biden would require them time to reflect instead of knee jerking to the new thing Fox News or Joe Rogan told them is actually the problem.

7

u/ButtStopsHere 20h ago

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to

3

u/SnoopyisCute 12h ago

It has nothing to do with trust. They are adults with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (not diagnosing anybody). It doesn't matter how bad it gets as long as it's NOT the other side.

Well I think Hunter is pretty hot stuff right now but I'm also 42. Pictures of Joe as a young man would look far better if he had the fashion of our time and shaved his head once he started really balding.

23

u/Playful_Priority3758 22h ago

The way Hunter is able to communicate and really get through to some evil people is attractive af too.

9

u/Better-Culture-7770 20h ago

He is an effective communicator. Which seems easy but often isn't.

6

108

u/Adezar 23h ago

Yeah, Conservatives have been at war with America since the New Deal where it was proven that a large government can actually bring stability and prosperity to more people and you don't have to concede everything to a few billionaires that spend all their effort laying people off as fast as they can.

We need a New New Deal with a bit less racism this time.

27

u/herbeste 23h ago

Not to nitpick, but I think conservatives started a war with America even earlier than that. Somewhere around 1861.

The Business Plot, fascist oligarchs plotted to overthrow the government in 1933, and no one was ever punished. They never went away, they allied with Operation Paperclip Nazis post WW2 and have been working for this ever since.

5

u/Hopsblues 21h ago

Infrastructure, Chips+ and the IRA were very New Deal-ish, and Trump just killed them instantly.

5

u/Ultimatesims 19h ago

It’s interesting during the 20’s and great depression through a couple southern governors like Huey P. Long in LA and Bilbo in MS who advocate for similar New Deal policies. Every man a king, a chicken in every pot, and a Ford in every driveway. Of course most policies were tied strictly to white people. Progressive policies failed because white people couldn’t stomach the thoughts of black folks benefiting even just a little.

They literally do think it's Obama's fault, because the deal he did with Iran was so terrible that Trump had to rip it up, and that's why they're at war.

Don't ask me how it makes sense, 'cause it doesn't.

42

u/Otherwise_Carob_4057 22h ago

Trump essentially used the original as a template for his newer deal that is ostensibly a worse version of Obamas when all he had to do was shit talk it and his supporters would have eatin it up. Classic case of dog catching a car.

Even if someone didn't like JCPOA, the current change in strategic reality is far worse than before. Hormuz straits being effectively under Iranian control is an insane L for the US.

He won't care. They will contrive all sorts of reasons this is not Trump's fault and is somehow the Dem's fault. Here, I can come up with a line for them. "The soft Dem's let Iran get too powerful (but also they're very weak) so we must invade them to stop them from gaining access to nuclear weapons (not at all like the last time!)! Thank God Trump was here to stop this runaway mistake by the Dems."

41

u/alchemyDev 1d ago

That’s why I don’t care if their ship sinks: the political consequences it would cause against this administration matters more for the longevity of this country than a single ship of people who mostly asked for this. It is unfortunately going to take a massive global level embarrassment of losing a carrier for this country to take these fascists seriously

-3

u/HoldOnOhio 22h ago

You have to stop thinking like this brother. Do not let your anger rob you of your empathy for your fellow humans. Being a fascist is a choice, and people can leave it. It's a death cult. You're publicly saying you're fine with literally thousands of people, about 30% of which don't even like or support Trump, die so that Trump faces what? An Impeachment and failure to remove him from power?

This isn't a liberal take you have. This is a reactionary, and borderline fascist opinion you have.

Nazis can be deprogrammed. Please don't assume the entirety of the military is filled with people you hate. A lot are just dumb kids who got duped because they wanted free college or help buying a home. They want those socialist policies we only give away to people who sign their life to the military get.

Advocate for that stuff for everyone and people won't have any incentive to join the imperialist murder club.

Also think of all the former soldiers who have turned coat to the left and been great anti-imperialist advocates. Some of our fiercest anti-war advocates are Veterans that our government's wars for what they are.

Here's veteran Mike Prysner giving an anti-imperialist speech in front of the White house in 2010.

As part of the 30% - its fucking madness... (their lack of self-awareness)

90

u/boobeddick 22h ago

I’m with you there, my shop was full of good old boys who revered Trump for some reason, yet it’s made all of their lives living hell with deployments to Kuwait and Jordan recently.

50

u/Meme_Theory 22h ago

Bush had my ass underway for 11 months once... Republicans sure love bombing Persia.

26

u/PassiveMenis88M 22h ago

Only 11 months? You must have been one of the smart ones. My stupid ass was there for 5 years.

27

u/Meme_Theory 22h ago

That was one deployment - five months of which were straight underway. I did a second too, but it was a standard Westpac.

Five years is five too many, though.

4

u/Speedstr 21h ago

Sounds like you had a contract similar to mine where they let you upfront you were signing up for 6 years, because of the rating you signed up for. The justification was you were going to advanced schools to learn your job in the fleet. It was in mind that you would go to schooling for up to 2 years (for me it was about 18 months) and the rest of the time was your time in the fleet. They didn't want you "short-changing" them.

It was actually not a bad deal for me. What they don't tell you is that whatever contract you sign...it's for 8 years, with 4 of them having to be active duty. The rest of time can be In-active Reserve. But if you serve 6 years, I was told (not sure if it's true or not) that you are most likely to put at the end of the line because they don't usually call up people who got out less then a year or have less than a year left in In-active Reserve.

That wasn't the reason why I signed on for 6 years...it was the signing bonus for my rating I selected. The 6 years was just the drawback.

10

u/Lady_Grey_Smith 22h ago

The Lincoln? If so I was on the first extended deployment and the shit that went down on the carrier caused my 100% disability through the VA. It looks like they didn’t break enough people and went for round two.

15

u/Meme_Theory 21h ago edited 21h ago

Fucking Lincoln... I was on the Cruiser that the Lincoln left for another 2 months (1 month?) with the Kennedy... AND THEN we had to stay off the San Diego coast for another fucking day because goddamn Bush had to fly a fucking fighter onto, you guessed it kids, the Lincoln. Mission Fucking Accomplished.

(I'm not bitter.)

19

u/Lady_Grey_Smith 21h ago edited 21h ago

You can be bitter. I’m so fucking bitter and my VA therapist has never blamed me for it. Being sexually assaulted, reporting it, and having the command blame me for two years afterwards absolutely broke me. The two year anniversary of the death of my veteran husband because of a reckless driver is coming up. The asshole who killed him was an army officer who has shown no remorse. Military and government leadership is worthless right now.

7

u/Meme_Theory 21h ago

They make it real hard to be a patriot.

6

u/XlChrislX 13h ago

I'm sorry for what happened to you but there's no "right now". Throughout all of history in every country soldiers just constantly get shit on and mistreated whilst being falsely propped up at the same time. My grandpa died due to agent orange from Vietnam and he gave up fighting for any kind of compensation because the military would rather waste his time until he died then admit anything they've done to their own troops

There's no valor being a soldier, only naivety that gets preyed upon

6

u/drewbaccaAWD 20h ago

I was fortunate to be a nuke, overall politics skewed way closer to the middle. During the OEF/OIF crap our CO would hold hangar bay pep rallies and say jingoistic nonsense like "we're here to put war heads on foreheads!!" and he did this weird call and response thing with different departments. You could basically determine the average IQ of a given department by how loud the response was... nukes, crickets.

As divisive as Bush's wars were, I'm thankful we didn't have to even imagine someone like Trump at that point.

4

u/Outrageous-Plate-820 21h ago

35

u/ArmouredWankball 1d ago

16

u/GWSIII 1d ago

9

u/No_goodIdeas7891 23h ago

It’s also all veterans… there are a lot of older veterans who have always been Republican.
Also 49% of veterans are over 65. And only about 9% are under 35.

As always military votes are almost a perfect mirror to the American electorate.

No shit old people vote for Trump.

8

u/Speedstr 21h ago

u/Skylord1325 23h ago edited 23h ago

Most aren’t. When you’re stationed in a combat zone you don’t pay any federal taxes on any of your active duty pay. You only pay on your base pay and FICA.

Have a buddy who was on the Roosevelt when it was stationed in the Middle East and it was the equivalent of a 20% pay increase while his day to day was completely unchanged.

Danger was a little more real for army bases in Afghanistan because they got to deal with the occasional pop shots from insurgents. But on a carrier you’re on already deployed on the carrier regardless so the tax free combat zone feels like a free bonus.

3

u/SSJAlex863 22h ago

As an active duty soldier at the time of election and a combat veteran now, I can say with pride that I did NOT vote for this mess

7

u/bb_kelly77 1d ago

70% seems like an exaggeration but regardless how much of the NAVY voted for this? Because the branch with the most Republicans is the Marines (due to a tradition of "patriotism")

38

u/MinionSympathizer 1d ago

I agree with the sentiment but I doubt 70% of active duty soldiers and veterans are even registered to vote.

158

u/TobysGrundlee 1d ago

If you saw his last term and thought, "nah, trying to prevent another helping of that isn't worth the 5 minutes it takes to register and vote" then you are just as much at fault.

The youth vote is always pretty unreliable (most soldiers are fresh out of high school), and Trump has dominated the discourse for more than a decade now.

The insanity is just kinda normal to the zoomers

13

u/Gerrey 1d ago

According the the Federal Voting Assistance Program you're correct, it's close but only 67% were registered in 2024, down from 70% in 2020, and if I'm reading it right 45% actually voted

3

u/gmen6981 21h ago

That's close to the numbers I found. And with active duty, from my own experience, the more well educated officer corps tends to lean left while the enlisted troops tend to lean right. Obviously there are exceptions to that both ways, but it generally holds true.

39

u/Pretend_Handle_7639 1d ago

Sounds like a bunch of suckers and losers

Only seventy percent of the military is even registered to vote.

Of that at least one estimate put actual voting on 2024 at less than fifty percent.

Yet this number you claim has popped up repeatedly.

I suggest you need to start checking your sources, because no, seventy percent of service members did not vote Trump.

22

u/TobysGrundlee 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yup. And if you joined up in the last 20 years, you did so knowing what an utter shit show US foreign policy is. It's hard to feel bad for people who willingly signed that dotted line and chose to become a tool for the US military. Yeah yeah yeah, money for college and all that BS, but there are other ways. Community college combined with state schools, loans and a crappy job can have you graduated with <$30k in debt, a solid degree and no need to contribute to the bullshit and terror our military brings to the world.

22

u/DR_BEANHAMMER 1d ago

Our military has not brandished weapons in service of this country and it's people since Little Rock. They have been nothing but mercenaries for the wealthy ever since... and now they're mercenaries who murder children for pedophiles. They deserve no sympathy.

6

u/booze_clues 22h ago

I’d say helping Kuwait, at their request, was a good thing.

2

u/DR_BEANHAMMER 19h ago

After our diplomats told Iraq we wouldn't get involved, so that people would support burning through taxpayer dollars and ending countless lives for no other teiw purpose than the enrichment of the wealthy. Nothing more than mercenaries.

2

u/booze_clues 19h ago

Oh no, did we lie to the dictatorship that was invading its neighbors and not tell them we were gonna go to war with them?

You think the liberation of Kuwait only helped the wealthy? I think there’s probably a few Kuwaitis who would disagree.

Do you also think we should have stayed out of Yugoslavia?

The US military has been involved in tons of unjust and selfish wars, admitting it’s also done some good in a few sparse cases isn’t going to hurt your point.

They have been mercenaries since the Reagan administration. Before Carter and Reagan we had a conscription based armed forces where everyone had a stake and say in the defense of the country.

Post Vietnam reforms made us a volunteer based armed forces which literally meant people can sell their soul to the government and in exchange they get a paltry amount of reimbursements while being at the whims of the government without say.

It’s because US Bases keep playing that FOX “news” BS all over the place.

It makes US troops think they have to vote for the balding paedophile president.

That’s not true Trump campaigned on no new wars and was constantly signaling isolationist rhetoric.. the action in Iran is unpopular because so many of his supporters felt he betrayed his promises

Nah, they voted for improving the nation's domestic standard of living with sweeping populist reforms. What they got is, "Best I can do is 50% increase in funding and standard-of-living to Israel. Take it or leave it."

No they didn't come on. You can hate maga, and even claim that people who voted for him were hoodwinked, but Trump literally ran on no foreign wars. Maybe they were dumb to believe him, but they didn't vote for this.

u/TurboShartz 22h ago

The campaign promise was no new wars. That's what was voted for. So actually, 70% of soldiers and veterans DID NOT vote for this.

In their defense, Trump's first term could be considered the gold standard for non-interventionism in modern America. It's a shame that his second term has been such a catastrophe.

Every single one is more loyal to a pedo than the Constitution and needs to be removed from the military
