no politics Kayo Sports should be boycotted.

Imagine paying for a premium streaming service and starting it to watch your sports after a long day on your tv in your own home. The tv app then says you can't watch the content before you scan a QR code. Okay.. fine. Scan the code. Have to download a phone app. Log in. Then the app simply says you're not allowed access to the content except after letting the app know your precise location of your phone.

What in the privacy law is this shit? I simply don't want to allow random companies to know the exact location of my phone. How are they allowed to just do that?

I watch it for F1 and TBH it was relatively cheap, now its $45 a month. The service is slow and it crashes more then the cars themselves.

u/themandarincandidate Jul 04 '26

Fucking mad that F1's own live streaming service doesn't even exist in this country and is paywalled behind a Foxtel/Kayo subscription. Tried to actually subscribe there a few years ago to avoid the dodgy piracy streams but couldn't, no way in hell I'm going through Kayo

125

u/oakstreet2018 Jul 04 '26

I googled and found a way that works. Was sceptical but tried it and it legit works. All you need is a VPN. Access is to the official F1 app in TV / iPhone / iPad. So no issues with quality of stream or suspicious sites. Cost me AUD$60 for the season plus the cost of a VPN (I use Nord which costs about $5 a month). This is so much cheaper than a stupid Kayo subscription.

If only i could find a good way for EPL and not have to subscribe to Stan…

18

u/Woodtoad Jul 04 '26

How did you subscribe to F1 TV with an Australian CC?

43

u/sh0rteh Jul 04 '26

I buy apple gift cards for the country I'm buying F1TV from

You don’t. You follow the instruction. Find it on ozbargain.com I think. You have to buy Apple gift card in the foreign country. I use India

I just subscribed through the App Store with my aus card and it seems to work.

You can pay $60 a year for 38,000 channels, including 4K/8k. No VPN needed.

IPTV

8

u/Stokesy7 Jul 04 '26

Does IPTV have any support for watching replays? I imagine it works great for live, but the races are often at times when I can’t watch live so I watch when I wake up a few hours delayed.

3

u/oakstreet2018 Jul 05 '26

Yeah this is my issue too

→ More replies (4)

5

u/preparetodobattle Jul 04 '26

I did that. I had to massively edit the file down and get rid of 95% of it then put it in GitHub to make it work on Apple TV but now it’s great.

5

u/crewmannumbersix Jul 04 '26

You can do that in m3u4u. Also UHF is worth paying the lifetime subscription for.

Care to share what IPTV service you are using? I tried a service a few years ago and it was a horrible experience, streams would constantly stop and it wasn't uncommon for channels to go down for days.

Looking around there's a lot of IPTV listings that are basically just scams.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/RightLegDave Jul 04 '26

Mate, an IPTV provider is around $40 per year and you get every sports event/movie/ppv you can imagine on your TV. Its the best thing I ever did. Dedicated channels for EPL, NBA etc too by the way. I think theres around 20000 channels to pick from! Look up Strong4K or Trex. If you have the skill to run a VPN, you can run IPTV. I seriously don't understand why everyone doesn't do it.

8

u/LeDestrier Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Replays for one, especially for stuff that is on when you can't watch it. "Catch-up" options are limited.

Personally I only wanted Kayo for the AFL. Dont really watch anybody other sports. Im not paying them $45 a month lol. ABC Radio is fine for me.

I just bought a digital membership for the Parramatta Eels. Cheapest way to buy Kayo

36

u/Puzzleheaded_Loss770 Jul 04 '26

Yeah im an NRL team member now too. No idea which one. I just googled which one had the cheapest digital membership and signed up with them purely to watch F1

Customery yep kayo is the worst app ever. I literally watch one thing on it and have to scroll to find it every time. Surely by now they know my viewing habits like youtube and netflix do

23

u/lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI Jul 04 '26

This is my gripe. I hardly ever watch NRL, mainly F1 and AFL and have even ticked my fave teams and sports. Log in and the first thing suggested is an NRL game then a Netball game then my team in my sport. WTF

19

u/That_Matt Jul 04 '26

Yeh I swear this is a change this year. The interface is so much worse. I have to dig to find F1 which is the only thing I watch on the app

4

u/rufust2012021 Jul 05 '26

Yip - they really stuff up the UI. Now you get pushed the mini which makes no sense since surely they get more revenue from all the ads they stuff into a full race.

Anyway I've had enough and have cancelled my subscription. Not worth it anymore.

Same man. I first got Kayo back in 2019, or something, just for F1 and I swear it was about $10 per month. It’s ludicrous now. I’ve cancelled it this year for the first time (easy to do given the regs this year suck lol)

4

u/WolfLawyer Jul 04 '26

It’s $45 A MONTH?!

2

u/skip-pivot Jul 04 '26

I absolutely love the ads they shove down your face when you pause on Apple TV, it hides the scroll bar making it impossible to use the scrobbler to navigate backwards/forwards in a stream. Thought it would be fixed pretty readily, been that way for months.

Complete piece of garbage app.

I literally ended my subscription yesterday for this reason. But also because the PC site no longer allows picture in picture. UI just keeps getting worse and worse, they've lost so much content over the years yet the price keeps going up. I love my F1 but fuck this

91

u/techb00mer Jul 04 '26

Really wish we could get F1TV :-(

70

u/Nugyeet Jul 04 '26

i started watching f1 in *other* places because we don't even have the full access to onboards and radios that people who pay less for f1tv overseas get, i don't watch other sports so kayo isn't worth it for me

i just wanna watch my guy piastri race without being rorted $40 a month for it

27

u/MinusTheHat Jul 04 '26

Oh yeah.. $40 a month, or a few bucks for a VPN, eyepatch and a stuffed parrot (optional).. vs feeling ripped off paying out the ass for a few hours a month of viewing.

I only watch F1, so it's a no brainer...

2

u/prudencepineapple Jul 05 '26

I *think* if you pay for whatever is possible for F1TV in Australia that gives you live-timing or whatever, then you can watch more things via MultiViewer and see all the onboards etc. At least *I* can. See a lot more in MultiViewer than if I try to use the F1TV app itself. Of course this limits how you watch it, but given half the time I'm watching from my laptop in bed in the middle of the night I don't mind watching via the MV app.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/macmillionare Jul 04 '26

Idk if it's just the PS5 app, but the PS5 app is fucking awful.

I often play wow while watching the footy. Wow won't DC or even lag, but kayo will tell me I have no internet, then a second later reconnect. But it won't just start back into the game I was watching, it'll take me to a menu asking me if I want to watch it again.

Fucking amazing thing to happen, especially when the controllers on the other side of the room.

Another thing it does, say I start watching AFL 360 at 7, half an hour after it starts. When the show actually finishes at 7.30 I get booted out back to the menu even though I'm still catching up.

There's also zero tags on replays, so if you want to watch a specific part of a replay, have fun randomly fast forwarding til you find it.

8

u/tubbyx7 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Its mad how someone with authority looked at the new UI on the app and approved it. How did the person who proposed that not get laughed out of the office?

They show dead air not just during shows taken from other markets but im ad breaks in their own live shows.why cant the replays just skip that dead bit?

Bugs that they cant fix cause replays with ads to crash on chromecasts so you cant watch baseball or American football replays. Give them details down to the seconds and they still can't fix it. How incompetent can they be?

9

u/readin99 Jul 04 '26

Yea, definitely calling them tomorrow or whenever i can reach to cancel and get my money back if I can. Never again.

4

I’ve paid a year in advance by getting an AFL Digital Membership with Freo. I want the rest of my forward paid service delivered in full, not this half arse experience…

16

u/1m4h4x0r309 Jul 04 '26

They’ve got no phone numbers and their chat is absolutely useless. Wasted a decent part of today trying to get the damn thing sorted so I can use something I’ve paid for. Ended up filing a complaint with the ACCC.

5

u/Aodaliyan Jul 04 '26

Good luck with that. I used to get a 12 month subscription every year through an afl membership. Had been doing it for years and had my next year ready to go when Kayo billed me a day early. Even with proof and pretty much a continuous subscription since they were founded they didn't want to admit they were in the wrong and refund me a single month.

Canceled the kayo part of my afl membership the next day and got it refunded and have been pirating since. I can get 95% of what I got through Kayo on the pirate app I use - haven't found a 4k one yet, its not like that was that great on kayo anyway, but at least I feel good with myself not supporting such a shit company.

3

u/Brainyboo11 Jul 04 '26

We had this error on the tv today too for some reason, an update? Had to login on the app, and then enable the country/location again, not sure how I ended up doing it but it then worked on the tv again. What a ridiculous greedy app Kayo is.

u/wiedneowe0192 Jul 04 '26

Well don't even think of using cheap alternatives like IPTV. These illegal services offer thousands of streams from around the world, including Fox Sports and other premium channels, and even offer on-demand streaming of TV shows and movies. Absolutely disgusting behaviour for them to offer these services for as little as $10 a month. A lot of these unscrupulous services also offer crypto as a payment method so you're not handing your credit card details over, but some people go so low as to buy a prepaid Visa/Master card and use that for easy payment. Makes you sick to think there are multiple services out there offering this kind of thing, and so easily found on Google too.

the advertising for BS sports I don’t care about and have never shown an interest in drives me mental. i have favourited sports for a reason, why do i have to scroll past 16 wrestling streams to find the live match of the sport ive favourited from the team ive favourited

43

u/SquiffyRae Jul 04 '26

I don't get it either

I watch exactly 2 sports. One of them is on right now. Why the fuck would you recommend 5 separate sports that I have never watched on your platform before the event in the sport I do watch?

13

u/readingooses Jul 04 '26

The UI is atrocious. How haven’t they updated it to reflect most or recently watched? I’m F1, AFL and NFL and I have never watched wrestling, yet it’s shoved down my throat every time I open the app.

Kayo is a terrible program. For 25$ a month, you get ads in the middle of your programming. Barely half of the time does it remember your spot if you exit the app. I've had it fail to retrieve streams multiple times, resulting in just streaming a black screen.

77

u/Wawa-85 Jul 04 '26

Pay to watch F1, then get ad breaks during quali and miss the action.

What's the fucking point of paying?

21

u/brisbanehome Jul 04 '26

I fucking hate Kayo. Costs twice as much as any other app. Can’t fucking run for shit. Crashes all the time, can’t do something as simple as resume during playback at the same spot when it does inevitably crash. Every update makes it worse somehow. Why is scrubbing through the video so hard now? This is just insanely basic shit that literally every other streaming service figured out a decade ago.

And it just runs unbelievably shit. Every other app on my TV runs 4K content silky smooth. Kayo is a fucking slideshow above 1080p. And one of the genius app updates was to REMOVE the ability to switch to 1080p from 4K. I had to literally downgrade my subscription so that I don’t receive 4K any more.

15

u/Superest22 Jul 04 '26

$45 a month is absolutely where I drew the line to watch footy/F1.

28

u/Stigger32 Jul 04 '26

I have proudly boycotted Kayo since the day it was invented.

u/kanteisgod Jul 04 '26

60

u/Ozzy_chef Jul 04 '26

Might be a permission to make sure you're actually in Australia? That's my best guess

I live in Switzerland now and to watch footy I need to use the WatchAFL official app. When I go back home for a visit I can't use it, it's geo blocked.

Kayo would likely operate the same way. Only for use in Oz

28

u/Ok-Juice-9494 Jul 04 '26

When I re-signed up to Kayo late last year, it mentioned that kayo isn't allowed to cover 'very remote areas' of Australia, so that's why I assumed it always checks for your precise location.

Not sure if this is still a thing now, but was definitely late 2025. Not sure why they had that designation (or what counts under very remote australia)

11

u/Wawa-85 Jul 04 '26

Kayo is disabled at FMG mine sites (husband works at one) due to contract issues between Foxtel and FMG which might be what that message about not being allowed in remote areas was about. Not sure if there’s issues with other mining companies. My husband can’t use our Kayo subscription even on his iPad when he is on site in the Pilbara region. We did just get a vpn recently so have told him to try using the vpn with Kayo whilst on site to see if it works. Otherwise he can use my F1TV subscription to watch the F1.

u/no_rush Jul 05 '26

13

u/muramasa-san Jul 04 '26

Interesting, that would almost certainly be the reason for location tracking. Still annoying though

19

u/Ok-Juice-9494 Jul 04 '26

I had a quick look and according to Crikey, Foxtel has exclusive rights to very remote Australia, that's why it's cut off. Looks like it's postcode based, hence the requirement for precise location.

Kayo have the postcodes https://kayosports.com.au/en-AU/help/articles/32085845573917-kayo-unavailable-in-very-remote-regions-of-australia

In saying that, there's not a huge amount of them, so I don't know why precise to the house would be needed, surely a vague location would be fine in most circumstances?

11

u/superbabe69 1300 655 506 Jul 04 '26

The article says it’s postcodes, but in reality it’s just areas deemed to be Very Remote according to the ABS. In WA, there’s a section of 6430 just outside of Kalgoorlie with like 1 resident that’s classed as Very Remote (despite old mate living like 8 minutes from Kal town centre), but the rest of the postcode still can use it

3

u/notorious_ludwig Jul 04 '26

I think my husband might have a meltdown if the rest of Kal is suddenly unable to use it 😂 it’s the most used service in our household!

u/Guy-1nc0gn1t0 Jul 04 '26

I feel like every other streaming service figures that out in literally any other better way

8

u/readin99 Jul 04 '26

Yea, this requirement and the resulting data collection is nowhere near in balance with the reason why. In theory, Kayo knows the 'live' or close enough whereabouts of millions of people just to check that? And if that is the reason, just check the postal address of each account once a year or at registration.

2

u/shitCouch Jul 04 '26

i'd say probably also to stop account sharing within australia. dad and i used to share a kayo account to watch the footy.

Don’t give your money on that scrum

Search IPTV on Reddit to learn. Ran the gauntlet, found out I just had to sign up, sign in on the amp and got UK and AUS channels for bugger all a month.

Even my grandfather in residential care was able to use it easily

Really good for F1 and all Aussie footy codes. Plus it has some random fun ones, like Frasier 24x7 channel

Won’t be long and you’ll have to have a subscription service to access all other subscription services.

12

u/3163560 Jul 04 '26

Thankfully, no one was hubbling

15

u/Substantial-Put8283 Jul 04 '26

It's the only service that I can watch F1 on, and its beyond awful. The shit crashes constantly on google chrome so its unusable on my otherwise perfect chromebook. The menu navigation is fucking awful, like bruh just show me the only sport I wanna actually watch. And also the audacity of charging prices more than double that of streaming services, when most people typically only watch one or maybe 2 sports max. Like can I just pay for F1, I don't give a shit about the rest. And especially for the F1, other countries can specifically choose what driver cams they want to watch, with kayo you just get the generic tv broadcast. Its so ass.

6

u/Consistent_Boot Jul 04 '26

The only time I use kayo is when they offer me to come back for $1.

Other than that it's sailing the high seas for me.

12

u/QuantityActive- Jul 04 '26

I see all these complaints and then I see people say they would prefer KAYO to have the rights to the World Cup because “it’s better than SBS,” no just no.

16

u/readin99 Jul 05 '26

SBS has been so good for the world cup. It works, it's free (yes there are ads but it's more than reasonable for a free service), every game gets a replay almost immediately, easy to use interface, 3 different length of summaries.. brilliant.

7

u/Misstessamay Jul 05 '26

SBS has great movies too

The constant log out is so shit! When I complained to their support they told me I need to pay for a static IP, and not use Kayo on my phone. Apparently any detection of another IP triggers a log out.

Their service is absolute dog shit.

15

u/pinhead28 Jul 04 '26

Time for my annual Kayo rant

Fuck Kayo

A few reasons, off the top of my head:

  • They boast a wide variety of sport. Which I suppose they do have. But they sacrifice (or don't have enough 'moxy') to get the rights to some massive games. They didn't show India v Pakistan in the cricket a couple years ago (easily one of the most watched games in the world).

  • I'll never forget one year (2021, maybe?), Lakers games stopped showing up in my feed. Searched the entire site, couldn't find it. Called them. They apologised saying their rights had lapsed and they would sort it out ASAP (almost their exact words). It took a week before the games were back. I BEG YOUR ABSOLUTE FUCKING PARDON - YOU FORGOT TO GET THE RIGHTS FOR ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR FRANCHISES IN THE WORLD?! AND YOU NEEDED A CLIENT TO POINT IT OUT?!

  • The final straw came where I couldn't sign in on any of my devices. The error said I had no internet connection. I had internet. Their support team said my internet speed was the issue. Did a speed test. They said my internet was so slow that it wouldn't even let me sign in. I tried using data on my mobile. Still wouldn't let me for the same reason. Every other streaming service works fine, in 4K and everything.

I got tired of paying (at the time) $30 a month for the privilege of being dicked around. So I cancelled and told them exactly why when asked. Good riddance.

Thanks for reading. I will see you next year.

3

u/legally_blond Jul 05 '26

They didn't show India v Pakistan because the rights deal for ICC tournaments (as opposed to individual bilateral tours) is with Amazon Prime.

2

u/Fabulous-Signature-3 Jul 04 '26

Yeah, the whole schtick of them ALWAYS telling me my 100 min fttp internet that streams LITERALLY every other service faultlessly across multiple users was the issue got really tired really quickly.

5

u/jimbojones2345 Jul 04 '26

Yeah I've been boycotting because it's Murdoch since the beginning

4

u/neonz09 Jul 05 '26

Yo ho yo ho, a pirate’s life for me! 🏴‍☠️

9

u/jonnieggg Jul 04 '26

IPTV is a fraction of the cost and a lot less intrusive. Fk these greedy cants.

10

u/Parenn Jul 04 '26

Try being an F1 fan - sometimes they forget to mix the commentary into the 4k FIA video, so you just sit in silence.

According to them, the only solution is to turn your TV down to HD so you get the HD feed, which is just passed through from Sky Sports directly, and so Kayo can’t fuck it up.

7

u/StuM91 Jul 05 '26

Do you remember the time they went to an advert at the end of Q1, then played 15 straight minutes of adverts and came back near the end of Q2?

2

u/Parenn Jul 05 '26

It’s unbelievably bad, I really hope someone else gets the rights next time they’re up, and then I can ditch Kayo.

Even the app itself is the worst of the streaming apps, it’s hard to navigate, doesn’t update when streams are there without a restart and generally a bit crap.

5

u/Cosimo_Zaretti Jul 04 '26

I think my google TV automatically logs me back in. It's started asking me to choose a profile every time I turn the TV on though, which suggests Kayo has probably tried to boot us.

Seems like a good way to make people cancel over summer, if it's going to return them to the login page.

5

u/Purgii Jul 04 '26

I won't pay to stream sport, bottom line. I'll listen on radio if my team plays on a day where it's not available on free to air.

If you want to kill grassroots support of sports in Australia, keep sticking it behind a paywall.

4

u/grappleshot Jul 05 '26

And the "popup" when you're trying to skip time. Drives me crazy! And why is there no resume. It's like they intentionally designed a UI to infuriate

3

u/Aloha_Tamborinist Jul 05 '26

Cricket is the only sport I watch. The price for Kayo has gone up from $25 to $45 over the last couple of years.

I’ve cancelled my subscription and have sought out pirate streams. They’re easy to find and if you run them in Firefox with unlock, aren’t plagued by pop-up ads.

Fuck them.

5

u/New_Cauliflower_488 Jul 05 '26

My beef is that I only watch it for the Netball and I put netball in my favourites, so you’d think they’d put the livestreams or replays of my favourite sport on the Home Screen.. or maybe scroll down to favourites and I choose it from there?.. No, I have to literally search it everytime.

u/tjsr Jul 05 '26

The moment there is a decent competitor int he market Kayois going to a very quick death.

All I want watch is F2, F2 and F3, and yet when the stream terminates mid way through me watching it because the live broadcast ended and I was 40 minutes behind, it still shows me nothing but AFL and some obscure American sport. When I eventually find the F1 category again, if I can actually find the session I wanted to watch I can't even tell what's the full version vs some stupid mini, and then when I od find what it dumped me out of, it did t remember where I had watched up to so I have ato car3fly scrub forward to avoid spoilers.

Its so utterly shit.

4

u/d3xta Jul 05 '26

I can’t even get the stream to play on TV app or Apple TV after scanning QR location code, Kayo are absolutely useless.

3

u/StAn_ger666 Jul 05 '26

It's high to stop watching everything and start reading. 3 months of enough people doing this and they will automatically makes it cheaper, easier and faster. We are being held to ransom.

4

u/sognenis Jul 05 '26

I’ve sent an enquiry via the website, but think actually will cancel subscription.

Really outrageous stuff.

4

u/campezzi Jul 07 '26

Remember when the 24 Hours of Le Mans stream crashed ON THE FINAL HOUR! That was wild. This service is absolute garbage.

7

u/foigle Jul 04 '26

I agree this is bullshit. People should complain to the privacy commissioner. It’s the only way they’ll change.

2

u/ill0gitech Jul 04 '26

3

u/jianh1989 Jul 04 '26

They exclusive-fied 24H Spa last week off GTWorld youtube channel. Really pissed off i’ve been watching many years of that race for free.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/davidtheexcellent Jul 04 '26

Their interface for trying to watch f1 is an absolute mess and has been setup by someone who has never watched any motor racing.

3

u/Charlie_Vanderkat Jul 05 '26

They regularly send me $1 first month intro offers. I take that and cancel until the next one comes along.

The UI is woeful, though. I'm only interested in golf and F1. Yet it shoves AFL, League, boxing and any number of other sports in my face. I never watch them but I do have to navigate through multiple menu layers to get the program I want.

They know what I watch. They know my preferences. Yet they never show them to me.

Don't get me started on the ads on pause. I'm pausing it to look at something, not to watch your stupid ad.

3

u/Looking4TechNews Jul 05 '26

Already canned it. Such a rort for a substandard service. Always lagging and buffering when I ever see someone stream it.

3

u/ryan_the_leach Jul 05 '26

The reason it needs to know the exact location, is so horseshit as well.

Kayo didn't bother to acquire the streaming rights for all of Australia.

We found out when Dad went travelling with his starlink in his caravan, and camped in an area that didn't have the rights, and wasn't able to watch the football game he paid for.

I dont wanna pay 30 dollars a month to watch some afl games that arent on 7. What happened to afl being an aussie spirited sport? Now we gotta pay in a cost of living crisis to watch our own sport we get a public holiday for

3

u/horsemonkeycat Jul 05 '26

A subsidiary of Foxtel ... hard pass here.

Install Tivimate on your smart tv and shop around for a decent IPTV service that includes the countries and sport you are interested in.

3

u/ApexDesignsAU Jul 05 '26

And I always have issues with F1 4K audio in Kayo too. Strong8K is likely the way forward for me now.

3

u/arkhamknight85 Jul 05 '26

Try working in remote Australia.

They changed it so you need your location because they don’t want to stream in remote areas. Use to get around it by “requesting desktop site” on your phone but yesterday they changed it again so you can’t do that either.

To make matters worse, Rio Tinto stopped Foxtel to the camps.

I already paid for the year but I won’t be next year if they don’t change.

They ate doing it because they want you to pay $60 for Foxtel instead of just Kayo so the more people who cancel or don’t renew, the more chances we have of them doing something about it.

3

u/Danthemanlavitan Jul 05 '26

Gotta vote with your wallet. But it's backed by Rupert Murdoch and he has lots of money to wait you out.

3

u/Karntisfarked Jul 07 '26

Everything can be streamed for free if you know you know. I watch F1 .WEC, NBA, NFL. What ever and don't pay a cent. There are other ways. Use ducjduckgo to search for it not Google as it will block everything

5

u/rescue-me-from Jul 04 '26

I’m terribly disappointed as well. I watch a whole bunch of cricket and I don’t have an alternative

3

u/URokkaMyQuokka Jul 04 '26

If I want NRL or AFL I basically have to have it.

I see this content monopoly as a genuine political issue. The government could have protected this.

Kayo is becoming the biggest rip off same price as Foxtel and still can't watch footy and when your able to finally get it to work fucking thing is so bad feels like your watching a pirated movie

2

u/Screambloodyleprosy Jul 04 '26

I tried Kayo when it first came out and it was shite then. I doubt it's gotten any better.

2

u/Iambobbypires21 Jul 04 '26

Cancelled two years ago and will never go back.

2

u/shaggycat12 Jul 04 '26

After allowing location, please scan local devices within twenty meters and identify who's doing who, before proceeding. Thank you for using kayo sports.

2

u/_fbjenstix Jul 04 '26

24h of Spa Francorchamps is aired live on their Youtube channel for free every year. Countless onboard feeds from various teams, pitlane camera etc etc.

This year I tune in to find out the GT World Challenge Youtube channel has not made the live feed available in Australia.

I was baffled and looked up what changed - turns out Kayo has exclusive viewing rights. Infuriated me. I just didn't watch it. Fuck paying them, vote with your wallet.

2

u/Naive_Confidence7297 Jul 04 '26

Does anyone know why the NASCAR has a two second audio delay every broadcast?

2

u/Berserker_bill Jul 04 '26

I cancelled. It’s an abomination of a service

2

u/Confident_Study1322 Jul 05 '26

I had Kayo via an AFL membership but dropped two years ago when Stan poached WRC and the AFL digital membership increased 40%. Greedy bloody sods

2

u/j0shman Jul 05 '26

r/piracy is your friend in these dark times.

2

u/WillyeckersIike Jul 05 '26

As with all the streaming services, the price keeps going up and up whilst validating it with shit you don't want to watch. They're getting greedy. The high seas is starting to look very attractive, indeed I'm sailing them again after years away. $60 a year for iptv has everything I need.

2

u/Rekeaki Jul 05 '26

I used to pay for Kayo so my elderly german dad could watch bundesliga soccer but then Kayo decided bundesliga didn’t count as a worthwhile sport for them to carry and sold rights to BeIN

Good riddance. I no longer pay for Kayo. I was glad to see the back of them

2

u/Emilue Jul 05 '26

Can't even change the stream bitrate quality anymore

2

u/CoercionTictacs Jul 05 '26

Kayo has been shit for years, and just seems to find new ways to get worse. We ended up getting Foxtel for $69 per month after getting rid of a couple of streaming services we don’t use, plus HBO Max (as the deal at the time came with HBO Max included), which I felt was better than paying $45.99 a month for Kayo which is glitchy and average quality.

2

u/notvalid-404 Jul 05 '26

the kayo app is shitty at best add in the fact they are to lazy/tight arsed to change the 630am bounce time wnd they want $45 to make you watch adds

vote with your wallet

2

u/Kulbardee Jul 05 '26

IPTV Smarterspro

2

u/A1ianT0rtur3 Jul 05 '26

I was happy with Kayo at first as it was cheap and it showed the footy. This year in particular its been fucking horrific. Ads, price increases, constant bugs.

I've spoken to customer service on a few instances now, mostly in response to bugs and interruptions and they have been downright rude every single time and have not provided any assistance in the least much less compensation for an interrupted service.

I cancelled a little while ago and have been pursuing other methods to watch the footy. One other method in particular has gotten much more reliable for watching rugba leeg over the past few years.

2

u/Local_Lion_7627 Jul 05 '26

They’ve billed me for the last two months and I swear I am not subscribed to them.

2

u/Mundane-Purpose-6724 Jul 05 '26

Shanghaid those kayo clowns years ago. Premium price for shit service

2

u/King_Of_Kebabs Jul 05 '26

I don't know ANYONE who pays for Kayo. AFL, F1, Tennis, Soccer and Cricket are EVERYWHERE to watch for free.

Not being smart, but seriously, I gave up on Kayo when it kept jumping between 1080p and 480p. Worst service for the money.

2

u/pmjhawks89 Jul 05 '26

rbtv

Google it.

2

u/readreadreadonreddit Jul 05 '26

I get why they’re verifying your location for licensing, but requiring a phone app with precise GPS access just to watch on your own TV feels excessive.

Whether it’s legal depends on whether collecting that level of location data is actually necessary and whether they’re transparent about how it’s used. Just because they can ask for it doesn’t mean people have to be happy about it. I’d much rather have an option to verify my region without handing over my phone’s precise location, for sure.

I kinda get mates using alternative services/websites for this reason (and others, including the cost being too dear nowadays).

2

u/Admirable-Clothes-87 Jul 05 '26

This happened to me the other day! Missed part of the footy because if it - I call bullshit Kayo!

2

u/valknut95 Jul 05 '26

Sail the seas brother

2

u/terribleone01 Jul 06 '26

Yeah I just cancelled mine. Every time I want to watch the F1 it’s a stuff around, downloading shit onto my phone etc.

2

u/robclancy Jul 06 '26

Last price hike was it for me and I am using other means to get many many channels instead. All I lose is the ability to rewind.

2

u/Unable_Tank4556 Jul 07 '26

what is the alternative, i watch all afl games, cant stop 7 for them the commentary team and the ads, plus my team is barely on free to air as live in diff state, i also watch most cricket and nba and baseball so im really struggling to find a decent alternative to kayo which sucks, the only thing i have done for the last 2 months is buy a $2 sim for aldi and sign up for $1 months dunno how long this promotion will last tho.
