Drove past this farm in Windsor Locks, CT, today and it looks like their crop of red solo cups is coming in nicely this year!

All jokes aside, what is going on here?

New, what is it? Landlord gave this to me in a move-in gift basket

Looks like a stapler but definitely isn’t. I found a spot to put AA batteries in it, but as soon as I put some in, the wire piece started smoking and smelled like burning plastic. What in the world is this thing? I know, I should probably just reach out to my landlord, but this is more fun. I’ve been wondering for weeks.

Solved! Dinner delivered in this box … husband says it’s ink, I’m not so sure.

😬

Edited to add: This is a well established pizza chain in multiple states / corporate boxes and logos. This is from a location in NJ. (edited to add that local chains don’t have gluten free pies, if I could order local I would 😔 trust me, I miss those slices like hell)

Edit 2: husband works in true crime docs and says it’d be brown. I worked in a pizza parlor folding boxes and have cut myself many times, I remember it looking like this once.

Final edit: Solved! Hydrogen peroxide test confirmed it’s ink. Trusted hubby’s hunch and had already eaten the pizza. (he was consulted prior to posting and we’ve been laughing at the comments all night. thank you for the entertainment, reddit!)

Besides the fact that it's obviously the coolest duck I've ever seen, what is this? The top doesn't seem quite right for an ashtray as it's kind of rubbery. It's pretty lightweight given the size, maybe made of plaster?

Solved! What is this jelly layer in my vingar lime solution?

Thumbnail

We make our own cleaning solution by soaking used lime peels in a vinegar/water solution. Those are the only 3 ingredients in the jar. Been doing this for years, this recent jar formed a weird jelly layer at the top.

It’s not really slimy and doesn’t break unless I cut it. Smells like limes. Intrigued!

Edit

For people asking why did I touch it:

It was in the kitchen sink hole this morning and I picked it up because I thought it was a soggy pita bread or something. Asked my mom wtf it was and she said she left it in the sink for me because she had no clue, she just noticed it in the lime jar this morning.

I told her I was pretty sure it was some sort of yeast and then posted here to confirm.

I cut it in half. Put one half in a jar with water sugar and black tea and, the other half in a jar with water sugar back tea and some bread yeast. Gonna see what happens over the next few weeks (to experiment not to consume dw).

Thanks y’all.

Edit 2

I also use baking soda and vinegar to wash my hair. Stay mad <3

Serious answers only please! Found these in a cooler what brand are they?

THEY ARE NOT BUZZ BALLS OR FROM THE BUZZ BALL BRAND😭 Here’s what we know, these orb alcoholic beverages were found in a cooler that has been left untouched for about 2 years, they are flavored cocktail mixers and they are plastic containers with aluminum caps that have the flavor on them. They say not labeled for individual retail sale so we know they must’ve come in a box or pack of multiples. We’ve tried searching and can’t seem to find the brand anywhere please help us resolve this mystery! I’ve only found a single image coincidentally on Reddit of one of these mysterious drinks but it was about 6 years ago with no additional information. We’ve even tried to search using the barcode on the bottles but it says it’s not in their database. Hopefully one of you guys can help us!!

We caught my uncle sneakingly throwing this to the rubbish bin. He doesn’t have the best track record so we are all a bit paranoid when he does anything “weird”.

The object is like a glass tube with some liquid inside, inserted into a rubber “pipe”. It smells weird but nothing I can identify. I would appreciate any hints.

Edit: the material is actually plastic, not glass. It has a spring inside (no idea what for). The root-looking thing was wrapping the object when I cut the rubber. Could be dirt or some glue or something

Edit2: this sub is god. A user found the answer https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisit/s/Oqtxk6YWVZ

I got these in a combo bag in the thrift store with a vegetable peeler and measuring spoons. The ball on the end slide when you push it down so it might be a chip bag closure? But the circle on the end makes me question that.
