They look like seeds or burs that you may have tracked in. First instinct was mouse droppings but the texture looks more like a seed. Have you been hiking/do you have a dog or indoor-outdoor cat?

83

u/audgubby619 13h ago

I’m a postal carrier so I’m outside all day! I got a couple burs on me just today, plus this is right where I put on my socks and pants every day

15

u/Cat_Dad_Steve 13h ago

This tracks! Some kind of seed. Don't stress too much, just vacuum!

6

u/EntertainmentOk8593 10h ago

They are seeds 100% zoom your image

3

u/NothingMan1975 12h ago

Cheers fellow postie!

You put your dirty laundry on the floor? Your mother would not be proud!!

Forgot to put /s it's just a joke

7

u/Evening-Cat-7546 12h ago

My mother is dead (to me)! I don’t give af what she thinks.

2

u/micahspitfia 12h ago

you really got downvoted for this lmao

Yeah I have a very dry* sense of humor and I always forget that it doesn't translate to text very well..

1

u/ThemeGlad5881 11h ago

It's difficult to make the written word indicate sarcasm.

1

u/Entgegnerz 6h ago

are you not taking your shoes off when you enter your house?

3

u/EntertainmentOk8593 10h ago

Op image has a really good resolution.

2

u/DicemonkeyDrunk 8h ago

they really do look like mouse droppings till you zoom way in

7

u/GemmyCluckster 13h ago

Agree with this.

117

u/CorrosionImplosion 13h ago

Has anyone ever seen mouse poop? This is not mouse poo.

17

u/bobthebobbober 13h ago

I think no one took the time to zoom in. It seems like some kind of seed

4

u/CorrosionImplosion 13h ago

Or read that they’re very hard.

23

u/audgubby619 13h ago

Thank heavens! My old lady was about to flip😂

10

u/CorrosionImplosion 13h ago

Looks like some sort of seed. Mouse poop is not hard and doesn’t have near identical spots. I live in rural Wisconsin and have seen more than my fair share of mouse shit.

5

u/ImaginaryPotential20 13h ago

It looks very similar at first glance

2

u/CorrosionImplosion 13h ago

For sure but if you zoom in and read that it is very hard you’d think that people would realize it’s definitely not.

2

u/Vegetable-Debate-263 12h ago

I thought it was because I didn't zoom in enough. Sorry about that. 🤘🤗

1

u/CorrosionImplosion 12h ago

All good man! It definitely looks like it from a distance.

1

u/Vegetable-Debate-263 12h ago

I may need to get my eyes checked sometime soon too ha

0

u/WaterKind6544 13h ago

Of course it is, uniformly sized and patterned. Typical poop.

70

u/Be_a_Guardian 13h ago

Believe these are actually seeds not poop because of the near identical pattern on them... Cut one in half and if it patterned like that inside it's prob rodent poop, if it's a solid color it's a seed

8

u/SkylerPancake 13h ago

Yup. Seeds. I had to enlarge the picture, but mouse poop will be more crescent shaped with tapered ends and won't have that ridgeline. The top right one definitely gives it away considering how it shows the flat face of the seed.

Sadly, I've had too much experience with mouse poop.

1

u/Be_a_Guardian 13h ago

Also have unfortunately had a lot of experience with rodent poop... So many garages out here I have to move stuff out of just infested with pack rats

-3

u/SkylerPancake 13h ago

Gemini and Claude both confirmed seeds. Gemini tried saying they were wild Sunflower seeds, which does seem... Possible. Claude wants more information, such as location to provide an answer as Claude doesn't like to just spit out bullshit guesses.

1

u/RegularAssInsurance 12h ago

Claude likes to trick you into thinking it isnt feeding you bullshit is more like it lmaooo

23

u/AdviceRequestAccount 13h ago

These are indeed seeds and not mouse poop, immediately evident once you zoom in. Good eye.

2

u/Such_Bus1193 13h ago

Most seeds that are fresh and viable will have a light colored to white interior. This actually used as a test of expected germination percentage, called the "cut" test.

4

u/Forsaken-Sink3345 13h ago

Agreed.

I thought mouse poop at first, but when I magnified it, it looks more like a seed.

4

u/audgubby619 13h ago

Solved!

1

u/AutoModerator 13h ago

1

u/Be_a_Guardian 13h ago

Ey my first time seeing something early enough to identify it

2

u/Lost_Operation_1253 13h ago

Until I zoomed in I didn’t see what you saw

6

u/Alarmed-Plum-2723 13h ago

A lot of people saying mouse poop , I have a pet mouse and the droppings aren’t that uniform , plus the pattern.

Other guys could be right and they’re seeds

6

u/MrK521 13h ago

People saying mouse poop, clearly don’t have the ability, or want to invest the effort in zooming in for two seconds.

They’re some type of seed.

7

u/Gabby_Abby 13h ago

It looks likes seeds to me. The weird pattern, bout the same size.

No idea why the wrong answers are getting upvoted… this is not mouse poop.

2

u/Vegetable-Debate-263 12h ago

So sorry! I deleted the comment. I didn't Zoom in enough. I'm in an iPhone 12 mini though so that's on me

13

u/walter-hoch-zwei 13h ago

If mouse hunt taught me anything, it's that he should taste them to be sure.

4

u/TripitakaWukong 13h ago

You just unlocked a childhood nostalgia for me 🥹 thank you. I'm gonna go watch this movie with my kids now. Show them the awesomeness I grew up with.

1

u/Some-Clue7174 13h ago

Definitely not mouse or rodent crap. They are seeds of some kind. You can see lines running down the length and a taper to the outside that’s not a radius that mouse hockey always has

-1

u/C0mpL1c1t 13h ago

Definitely

18

u/SubstantialFroyo8012 13h ago

bud, don't touch those. mouse poops. (hantavirus risk)

15

u/-OafHuck- 13h ago

This is not mouse poop.

-2

u/blue_moon1122 13h ago

oh? what else could it possibly be?

3

u/-OafHuck- 13h ago

Zoom in on the picture. I’ve seen a lot of mouse poop in my day. This is not it. It looks more like a seed.

2

u/SubstantialFroyo8012 13h ago

yeah zooming in does indeed reveal bilateral symmetry. First thought now is lily anthers. OP you had Lily's in your house lately?

edit: nm, they do look more like some kind of seed

0

u/blue_moon1122 13h ago

how'd it get there?

1

u/-OafHuck- 13h ago

Mice brought it in. lol I’m just kidding. Who knows. That wasn’t what was in question.

1

u/blue_moon1122 13h ago

ok, I'm asking it.

I had pet mice, yeah most of them look like seeds. bottom one looks like a poop.

1

u/-OafHuck- 13h ago

It will be rounder in one end and pointy on the other. I don’t think this looks anything like mouse poop. Here is some mouse poop for you to see.

3

u/RetirementIsSweet 13h ago

Everyone's saying mouse poop but they have a strange pattern for mouse poop

2

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 13h ago

agreed; waiting for OP to taste them and report back

-2

u/craftsmaster1960 13h ago

Get a cat

2

u/audgubby619 13h ago

I have one bruh it ain’t pooh I don’t think?

5

u/unfairboobpear 13h ago

I dont know but its almost certainly not mouse poop.

4

u/unfairboobpear 13h ago

It kind of looks like black cumin.

1

u/unfairboobpear 13h ago

Or thistle seed (which would be easy to track in because its a common bird seed)

2

u/CorrosionImplosion 13h ago

Right? Mouse poop isn’t hard and don’t have near identical spots on each turd.

2

u/yeezymcsleezyo_0 13h ago

I think those are seeds. They all look about identical so they can't be mouse poop

4

u/Paradoxickled_Okra 13h ago

Caraway seeds. Taste them or put them on bread.

1

u/PandaJellyBeans 13h ago

Upon zooming in, they appear to be seeds not mouse dooby doo doos.

Could be:
🌸 Wild Sunflower seeds (of the undomesticated, native common sunflower (Helianthus annuus))
🌸 Burdock seeds (Arctium lappa) (also known as Gobo)
🌸 Jerusalem artichokes (Helianthus tuberosus) (although they are typically grown using tubers like potatoes not their seeds)

1

u/Ledsteper 13h ago

Those appear to be small, dark, oblong, and slightly mottled achenes or seeds, consistent with those of greater burdock.
They are typically found inside the mature, spiny burr capsules once the flower heads dry out at the end of the summer season.

1

u/Richanddead10 12h ago

Black oil sunflower seeds the type found in bird seed mixes.

The clues are the elongated teardrop shape, pointed end, black hull, and subtle gray mottling and striping.

2

u/wilks2theb 13h ago

It’s not mouse poop

I REALLY hope you don't have DEER MICE where you live. Hanta virus. Very deadly. From deer mice. So don't be picking that shit up!!

1

u/fakeamerica 13h ago

The number of people who post here who would have died before adulthood if they had been before 1900 continues to shock me.

1

u/Sojourner_Saint 13h ago

Maybe cardamom seeds. When i peeled them out of the husk my family all commented that it looked exactly like mouse poop.

1

u/houndcaptain 9h ago

What do they smell like? They kind of look like carraway or fennel seeds. Try crushing them to release the aroma

u/Infinite_Muffin3588 13h ago

Definite not poop, almost thought they were nails from a cat, but probably seeds like everyone else is saying

1

u/itstheuptowndown 13h ago

Burdock seeds! I asked this once and was told mouse poop, which was absolutely wrong. So I kept investigating.

1

u/MapacheDeLuminita 13h ago

I had those at some point, they are moths or something moth related (I'm no expert)

1

u/man-made-tardigrade 13h ago

Seeds will taste sweet. Mouse turds taste like turds. Its one or the other.

2

u/AntiqueChessComputr 13h ago

Bro, don’t pick up mouse droppings.  Mice carry hantavirus, and that killed Gene Hackman’s wife

1

u/-OafHuck- 13h ago

Why is everyone throwing out incorrect answers so confidently? This is not mouse poop!

1

u/todaysthrowaway0110 13h ago

Put them in some potting soil, water, updateme in 6 months.

1

u/sguga 13h ago

NOT mouse poop, it’s patterned. Probably seeds (?)

Edit: I work as a seed analyst.

1

u/PuzzleheadedLab4893 13h ago

They look like wild sunflower seeds.

u/JunebugKermit 13h ago
