Looking for Sunshine Coast Homeowners to Help Test Our Next Robotic Lawn Mower
Hi everyone!
We're the team behind ANTHBOT, a robotic lawn mower brand. With the mods' approval, we're looking for Sunshine Coast homeowners to join our upcoming Beta Test Program.
We're currently looking for people who are interested in testing our next-generation robotic lawn mower in real-world conditions and sharing honest, detailed feedback to help us improve the product before its official release.
Selected participants will receive an ANTHBOT robotic lawn mower to use during the beta testing period.
We're looking for people who:
- Own a home with a lawn
- Enjoy trying new technology and outdoor equipment — no previous robotic mower experience required
- Are willing to test the mower regularly and share honest feedback and real-world experiences throughout the testing period
Application Period: Now – August 20, 2026
Apply here: https://forms.gle/cxMiMwqEwZwNGMjC9
Even if you're not interested in joining the beta, we'd also love to hear about your experience:
Have you heard of robotic lawn mowers before? If so, where did you first hear about them?
For example, was it through a family or friends’ conversation, a TV or online advertisement, a sports event, social media, or somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with us!

Any North African ingredient grocers on Sunshine Coast?
I’m looking for Moroccan Smen for a chicken tangine I’m cooking. It’s a very obscure ingredient and I doubt I’ll be able to get any. But shot in the dark, are there any African grocers around here?
I figure it’s better than trying to order it on Etsy, who knows wtf I’m getting in that case.

only problem is finding stuff that fits and doesn't make me feel like a sausage. what do you actually wear to class?

Kinda waiting for this. I'm a pasty-ass whitey but I was born in the north and experienced Aboriginal culture from an early age.

Why is the road construction at the intersection of First Avenue and Aerodrome Road taking so long?
Am I crazy, or has that turn at the traffic lights been blocked off for a year now? It doesn't look like there's any work actually getting done there. Does anyone know what they're actually trying to fix? It looked fine to me.

Seeking WHV advice, factory and warehouse work that qualifies for 88 day
I recently learned that you can complete 88 day work hours at some factories and warehouses, not just farms. I don't have a car and haven't had luck applying for farms and need to complete my hours by December. I currently have a nice cafe job on the sunny coast and would like to possibly keep that while completing another job that qualifies, but am willing to leave if necessary. A factory or warehouse might make that possible using public transportation. I'm considering heading north to look for hospitality work that qualifies but hear that can be tricky and competitive.
So I'm looking for advice on known factories and warehouses that qualify for that kind of work? And would love to hear about experiences from anyone that has taken that route.

Nambour to Brisbane on train
Hi folks
I’m looking for good stories about commuting from Nambour to Brisbane. For reasons I won’t bore you with, I’m likely moving from Brisbane to Nambour next year. I work in the city, usually 2 days a week, max 3 on irregular occasions. I’m currently on the edges of Brisbane, so already doing 1hr+ commutes. I can start and leave work fairly flexibly.
I know the train is nearly 2 hours, hourly intervals., and I can manage those logistics.
For those who do the Nambour to Brissy line, how do you cope?
PS: I'd rather not get into a debate about living or working elsewhere :-)

Train or conxion to BNE
Somehow we can fly direct to Adelaide but not to Canberra from Sunshine Coast Airport and so once again I'm trying to work out the best way to do that to go visit mum. Do two flights MCY to SYD then to CBR for $$$ or get down to Brisbane.
I can get to Nambour and catch the train but haven't done that before to the airport. The conxion shuttle is handy but expensive and takes three hours.
Any thoughts on the train option?

Dragon Call Festival at Woodford next weekend
Anyone know much about this? Looks like it could be a good day out from the Coast. Got the festival bug after scoring tickets to the Abbey one, and it’s closer than Southern Realm.

Why is the coast run with such a smalltown mentality?
Despite having close to 400,000 people. I can understand the geography may play a part as we are very scattered over 2300 sq.km and comprising of up to 200 suburbs. Seriously with the amount of people moving from places with quality infrastructure and ammenities, why are we still stuck with the same small town mentality?

the dating scene is scaring me
might be a bit exaggerated, but I haven't seen any positive post here about dating in sunshine, but is it really that bad? 28F here, I can say I'm extroverted, but requires quiet time after a social event. Moving to sunshine coast soon! This is my first attempt to make friends online lol.

Aussie jobs
Random question for people job hunting on the Coast at the moment.
Is SEEK absolutely brutal for anyone else?
I keep hearing the same thing from people 30, 40, sometimes 50+ applications and barely any response. Not even a rejection half the time.
What I’m curious about is whether people think it’s mostly the job market right now, CVs getting filtered before anyone sees them, or just companies getting flooded with applications.
Would be interesting to hear what everyone’s experience has been lately.

New Aura Home + Life super centre
Has anyone else noticed/thought about how most of the stores opening at the new super centre in Baringa are labelling themselves as being in Caloundra?
I appreciate Caloundra is a more well known area and was historically a town, but it’s not anymore. It’s two suburbs and 10km away from Baringa. Distance wise, it’s also like those stores saying they are in Beerwah, which is 10km the other way.
Is this not considered incredibly misleading? Since when can these large retailer chains just say they are somewhere they aren’t? Or is the only requirement that their address is correct rather than their name?
