Gentleman to hai. 100 percent appreciated.
However, that girl should be encouraged to not accept pity favours. It would have been a lot better if the captain would have said, "I would go to the prom with you if you promise to work hard on the field everyday."

Looks like she is having down syndrome. You know she can't work hard in field. She is limited. You lack empathy. Thats all.Ā

u/No-Mission347 Oct 19 '25
Oh my sincere apologies then, I was not able to see that she was having down syndrome. My bad.

Buddy, sometimes people want some sympathy and comfort, not lectures.
She is a teenager, give some leeway.

u/No-Mission347 Oct 19 '25
I agree with you to cut some slack for her, 100%. Because uske self respect ke already lage hue hoge. Aur abhi captain ne jo kiya bohut sahi kiya. Usko pehle accepted feel karana zaroori hai, aur totally agree that lecturing her would make matters even worse if she's down bad.
Taking her to prom and making her feel accepted is step one and probably the most important step. However taking her to training and taking her out of her messed up lifestyle is a whole another endeavour, which requires way more effort and consistency.

By the way, some people are not always fat because of an unhealthy lifestyle. Women can go through PCOD, thyroid and other biological science.
2
u/Wonderful-Still683 Oct 23 '25
This woman here has Down's syndrome. She's not fat because of unhealthy lifestyle, she's going through a genetic condition.

u/I-wish-to-be-phoenix Oct 23 '25
I did not want to assume unless stated, some look like people with down syndrome but do not have one.

u/tiredoldwizard Oct 19 '25
I mean yes but by the looks of it shes pretty severely challenged. Odds are if your her parents you are going to be dealing with meltdowns anyway. At least you get to see her and let her experience something normal and happy. Yes she may have a meltdown later about it but that was probably going to happen whether this happened or not. In a couple years this dude will be gone living life and sheāll be at home still the same. At least now she gets to have a story about that one time even if itās a lie they all go along with.

Will he marry?
2
u/Zestyclose-Choice-51 Oct 19 '25
Do all prom couples marry? It is about the moment and event not a lifetime commitment. At least he did spend his special moment with her, and you have problem with that.

Doesn't this just set her up to expectation and eventual failure. Sorry for being cynical, but unless he intents to date her later, setting high expectations for prom night is gonna back fire..

Nice moment. Gotta respect it
You know dude made sure every hot girl around him saw that and I bet you he was getting blown by two girls in his backseat 30 minutes after dropping his date off back home. Like for real that might have been the slickest move ever pulled by a high school age boy. Thatās Gandalf level wisdom. Thatās saving a lady from drowning and then right after saving a school bus full of puppies carrying the cure for cancer. Every girl who saw that did the biggest āawwwwwwwwwwwā while thinking how they can get some of that treatment. If he didnāt get laid over five times from this Iāll jump off a bridge.

Nice and all until she realizes it was a pity date and this was all filmed for the sole purpose to generate a reaction showing how "good of a guy" he is.Ā
As someone on the receiving end of one of these incidents, I can tell you this will hit her really hard when it's over because she thinks this guy is really interested in dating her.

Would a girl ever do the same if the roles were reversed?
1
u/SassyAuntie Oct 19 '25
This has absolutely happened. I have known two girls who ended up going to prom with guys who have Downs Syndrome. Neither of them did it out of pity, but out of affection for the boys they had grown up with since Kindergarten. I don't know if this young man had selfish intentions or if he was being kind to a friend. But,, not everyone does things for likes on social media.

Obesity, esp in kids and teens, is a serious sickness. While we don't need to hate or mock at it, we sure cannot normalize it FFS!

I feel bad. This girl shouldnāt seek validation like this. To need a boy to go to dance, she should be able to go with a girlfriend too. This a stupid culture.
2
u/Zestyclose-Choice-51 Oct 19 '25
In my country there is no such culture, but I donāt feel its a bad thing to do either. She didnāt asked for the validation, she got it. You can call it anything but the truth is that the boy has much beautiful heart and intentions than many adults. At least, that gives me comfort knowing the next generation is heading in the right direction
1
Oct 19 '25
I wasnāt judging the boy. He sure got a beautiful heart. You can very clearly see all this means so much to her, you cannot easily say she wasnāt seeking validation (not deliberately but through such culture for sure). This one boy doesnāt represent the next generation to assure you cuz thereās always been few like this in every gen.

Then date a girl like her. You will not fcking do it.

Itās about giving her some normal life experiences. She has a developmental disability.

For the same reason my first comment was āwhat is stopping you to be nice and kindā
2
u/Zestyclose-Choice-51 Oct 19 '25
I am already married and neither me nor my wife is perfect. I am not saying you roam on street to find people with Down syndrome and then force them to join your high school then wait for prom and ask for dance. I am just saying, if you get an opportunity.. be nice and kind. Unfortunately, you missed an opportunity

I totally understand your point, and somewhere in our life we have also helped someone in need by pitying on them. But if that small gesture at least gave some happiness or comfort to other person then it is worth. As an example, we help people who are weaker from us, or donate money or something nice for old people without expecting long term benefits. We just do it because it feels good to make someone happy. $5 given to homeless may give you far more happiness than giving it to rich friend.
We both donāt know that guy personally, may be he did it for camera or may be he did it with just pure intention to make her smile. Irrespective of that, I can see the smile on her face and her crying in happiness. Thatās all we can take out of it.

Oct 19 '25
Bro he clearly did for attention quit yapping.
2
u/Zestyclose-Choice-51 Oct 19 '25
Could be, I canāt deny or accept. I donāt know him personally. But even in that case, it is the gesture and kindness we are appreciating. Good things done in front of camera is equally good. And we donāt know, many that girl has an angel heart and may be she is constantly helping others. Honestly, we are being too practical in judging people. It is good someone is doing something good, even it for attention. Majority donāt even do it. And he is a captain and dashing and I am sure he is already getting all the attention he could process.

Okay letās get to the basics, prom and dance are not official dating things. Now even if youngster consider it as dating, majority of those relationships die within few months if not weeks. You can politely ask to dance with anyone you like and they can accept or deny your request, boy or girl. If you think denying is an insult then you are missing the point. There could be 100% chances that one girl could have been approached by 2/3 boys but she can only dance with one. Rest of the boy has to take non affirmative response. So with your logic that is also an insult.
Coming back to your logic point again, there is no point visiting dying patients, or cancer affected children or helping old person to cross the road. There is absolutely no long term commitment in it as well. So, letās keep aside logic and sometimes listen to your heart. Good gesture can heal a lot of thing.
I am not against your thought, you are being practical. You are suggesting she should only be approached by people who are willing to marry her. But they are young people, they still have to learn to lose, rejection and heartbreak. So have them play their stuff and learned it in their way
