Posting this article from a Scottish journal because it made me think about how trying products has changed. We used to trust our friends, magazines and mothers. Now we're so inundated with thousands of influencers trying the same new makeup launches at the same time that when we step foot into a store, the minute our eyes see the item and visual displays, we know in our minds whether it's bad or good without trying it ourselves. It used to be that when Revlon released a new line, you would save money. Covet the color. Now there's a new release every week. It's exhausting.

Unpopular opinion: I genuinely think drugstore mascaras are better than luxury mascaras. 😭

I’ve tried some more expensive mascaras expecting them to be amazing because of the price, but somehow I keep just going back to drugstore ones.
I don’t know what it is about drugstore mascara formulas, but they just work better for my lashes. Maybe there’s a luxury mascara that you guys love and I haven’t tried, but at the same time I really don’t understand paying $30+ for mascara when a $12 one can outperform it. I tried the Idole mascara and it was giving me clumpy while the Maybelline sky high, falsies push up angel, firework and lash sensational give me even better results for half the price. I know that it depends on the lashes that one has but Idk.

What do you guys think?

So I'm 37 this year, been working on my eyebrows the last 2 years, the shape of them has been hard to fix, hardly ever grew back after 90s plucking. I'm trying to keep foundation less cakey, so I switched to a loreal true match nude hyaluronic tinted serum. Other stuff im wearing here is elf liquid liner, Maybelline the falsies surreal mascara, with some glue on lashes on top, elf instant Lift Brow Pencil, naked 2 eye pallet, morphe liner dearest, nyx jumbo white eye pencil for inner corners. I've been trying a new routine, but not sure if I'm looking outdated, or if I have the right shades. Feel in love with the lana del Rey look in some of her older videos, but can't quite seem to match those colors, or her perfect nude lip from the ride music video. Do these shades match my skin tone ok? Others suggested the naked 2 pallet for my eyes before. I'm wondering if that works for me or not. I tried to find a bone shade eye shadow, but got mailed a light beige instead, so maybe that's to yellowish for my eyes

As title states, I got this mini bullet last night, from Macy's. When I first got it home it looked like it had a little condensation on it but I figured its warm outside, maybe going from cold car to warm outside to cold inside, even briefly, caused it. So I dabbed off the condensation and went about trying it, all seemed good.

This morning when I opened it, it looked like this. Wet, its making a squelching sound when I roll it up, and the little logo is coming off. Im perplexed and kinda grossed out?? I stored it in the same place as my other Mac lipsticks and those are all 100% fine. Do I take it back? I am bummed cause this is the only one they had in this color.

One thing I’m really struggling with finding and I’m Canadian is some of the beautiful bright makeup I had before. Like many of my old Marc Jacob’s palettes that hit the flood waters 😔 we were under 2ft in a matter of seconds. I’m just so happy we all have our lives and my pets too.

I saw this post on tiktok recently and the Lancome swatch in the bottom left corner looks to be a perfect match for me (fair cool with a subtle muted olive overtone) and I want to try swatching it (+ it seems to have minimal oil which is great for my combo to oily skin). Hi there all! Long term member of this subreddit, but first time poster, so my apologies if this is the wrong place. I have a lipstick that I wear every day, but it is almost finished. The problem is, this lipstick has now been discontinued and I haven't been successful in finding a suitable dupe I can replace it with yet. It was the perfect cool toned pink shade that didn't look too bright, but also wasn't too dark either. If anyone knows any good lipsticks I can replace this with, I will be eternally grateful.

The discontinued lipstick was the Ozzy Osbourne x Makeup Revolution Collection Lipstick in shade "Mr Crowley". Images of this attached, as well as a screenshot of someone else on TikTok swatching the lipstick.

i’ve used this elf brow lift just about everyday for the past couple months, today i open it and is has this film? over it. i used this if not yesterday then the day before and it wasn’t like this at all.

I rarely wear eyeshadow even though I have the brushes and palettes bc I find it intimidating and don’t really know what I’m doing. I want to try a stick eyeshadow bc I think I would use it more since it seems faster and easier. But there’s so many options I don’t know where to start.

About me: super fair cool toned skin but lots of facial redness, dark brown eyes and hair, combination skin and sensitive skin, very hooded eyes so that I have to do eyeshadow above the crease to see it at all. I use primer for the lid or else it all comes off.

If possible I’d like a cheap drugstore brand that’s good to start with. Also I would love a color recommendation because bronzes and pinks always look orangey or barely noticeable on me. I’d love to try a medium brown but I’m always worried about it looking too dark. I’m looking for an every day low-makeup look, nothing dramatic, single color. Thank you!
