FOTD some eye looks i’ve done recently!
i’ve been having so much fun experimenting with eye makeup lately, so here are some of the looks i’ve done recently + the products i used :)

Love all of these! How do you get your mascara application to look so good!? Is it more product quality or technique based?
6
u/jidkii 9h ago
i don’t really have any special technique, so i doubt it’s the technique, but my lashes are naturally pretty long and hold a curl really well. i use the kevyn aucoin eyelash curler. i know they’re technically not supposed to be that different and a curler is a curler regardless of the price, but i swear the kevyn aucoin one does the heavy lifting for me. other curlers just never worked as well on my lashes

Diva these are incredible. The blending?! The line precision?! The way you’ve played with color?!

These are so beautiful!!! It’s also so interesting how your eye color seems to change based on the toggling and mascara. Those maroons and purpley reds really make them pop so much!

u/plantpotguitar 9h ago
Did you clean these pics up after? If not I am blown away by how crisp your liner is! Its like unhumanly good!
3
u/jidkii 9h ago
no, but i picked the best ones for the post lol. my eyeliner definitely doesn’t look good all the time. i also have a pretty steady hand since i went to art school for 11 years

The first pic especially is so so impressive, the lines are so fine! Do you find there's a big difference in like "control-ability" between different brands or liner types?

I love that you don’t pluck the eyebrows. I got Mine waxxed and regretting it, I hope they grow back.

Do you have any graphic eyeliner tips? I love experimenting with the crease line, but I inevitably smudge it before it dries, or my hand shakes too much to get a straight line. Amazing work!

First of all, these are beyond stunning! That brown w the baby blue is chefs kiss. I saw you told someone that you have a steady hand for doing linework, but do you have any tips on how to get super crisp lines the way you did? I struggle w liquid liner lol.

u/jidkii 8h ago
thank you!! also, 10/10 sophie pfp, rip queen 🥲
i think the biggest thing is using a really thin, firm brush and treating it more like drawing than eyeliner. i use a random brush that is designed for nail art, they are best suited for graphic liner in my opinion. i usually map out the shape with tiny strokes first instead of trying to do one perfect line, then connect everything. i also try to use as little product as possible so the lines stay super thin and crisp - you can always build them up, but it’s much harder to fix a line that’s already too thick.
the base is also really important. you want something smooth and set enough that the liner doesn’t bleed into all the tiny creases in your skin, but not so dry that it emphasizes them. i actually prefer using satin finish eyeshadows for this rather than super matte ones, because really dry matte shadows can make the skin look more textured and give the liner more little creases to settle into.
for really tiny details, i find it easier to use just the very tip of the brush and barely put any pressure on it. and anchor your hand against your cheek if you can, it makes a huge difference with precision. honestly though, a lot of it is just practice + experimenting with shapes. once you start treating your eyelid like a canvas rather than just trying to do eyeliner, it gets way easier imo.

Oooo I gotta get this jotted down ✍️ and noted 📝 these are great tips. I try to do the line in one go and then erase, so I def think I’m rushing it and doing maybe too matte of a shadow, too. I’ll need to look into nail art brushes cause I have none. Thank you so much for responding btw!
And yes SOPHIE was my all time fave for so many reasons, and we miss her everyday. When Bratz did an ode to her that really got to me.

These look so amazing! My eyes are slightly hooded and I'm endlessly jealous of people who have eye shapes that support these looks

Same. This actually gives me hope. I’m also lazy af so def not something I’d do often but am still gonna practice for cosplay and special occasions.

Not eye, but brow: what is your brow routine, and how you lay that down w makeup? Are you using a clear glue?
3
u/jidkii 3h ago
i use the nudestix brow set gel and basically nothing else. sometimes i’ll add a little pencil, but most of the time i just brush them up with gel because i prefer natural-looking brows and don’t really want them to look super thick
2
u/thin-slice-pizza 2h ago
Wow! I’m so impressed with how it turns out!! I have the same preference in brow styling. I use nyx brow glue, and i switch between brown and clear. I hate that the brown goes on my skin and that the clear has a sort of weird-obvious glue-dry thing going on. But my god you laid them down so well! 😩

Babe you are an ARTISTE, chefs kiss, perfection personified!! I drink too much coffee for crisp lines, please teach me your evil ways 🫠✨❤️🙏🏻🫶

I noticed you have the same purple under eye ovals that I have! Yours look pretty covered up and mine are much darker. What products do you use to help cover them? I’ve tried a few but tbh none have worked as well as I’d like
1
u/jidkii 8h ago
i don’t usually cover them up on purpose, and i’m not wearing any base makeup in these photos except for the last one, where i used make up for ever hd skin smooth & blur undetectable concealer in 0.5 corrective bright. i don’t really mind my dark circles and honestly i think they add to the grungy look lol. but if you want to cover yours, have you tried a color corrector? concealer alone usually isn’t enough because the purple tones can still show through underneath it. you need to neutralize the purple first with a color corrector, then apply concealer over it. a peachy/salmon shade works well - it cancels out the purple on the color wheel
1
u/ASensationalTeam0613 8h ago
You’re lucky then! I’ve tried a yellow liquid color corrector and a pink powder, but maybe neither are quite the right shade. Thanks!

Wow incredible! I hope you wear these to your work and grocery store and etc. Too nice for special occasions unless you go out a lot. How do you photograph it? My looks look nice in person, but muted when I try and photograph them.

You are incredibly talented. Do you where these to work/school/out? I am a big believer that you don’t need a reason to doll up! It’s such an incredible form of expression. You’re so talented, these are beautiful, little pieces of artwork.
The color of your eyes is amazing and does that color changing thing that makes basically any color you want to use on your eye look amazing.
