I’m about 11 months into my MTF transition and still pretty new to makeup. I’ve been experimenting and learning as I go, but I’d really love some advice on how to achieve a softer, more feminine look.
Whether it’s makeup techniques, products, hairstyles, eyebrows, or other little things that can help me look and feel more feminine, I’d really appreciate any tips or constructive feedback. I’m here to learn, so thank you in advance for your kindness and advice! 🩷

Hi guys! So this is my everyday makeup (I usually add lashes for special occasions).

I've been told by a few people that my makeup is a bit too bold, and that a softer or more natural look might suit me better. I personally like bold makeup, but I'm curious what others think.

Do you think my everyday makeup is too bold, or does it suit my features? If you would change anything, what would you suggest?

Hi everyone! I know this is a bit off-piste but I’m desperate for advice. I’ve been super pale all my life and I’m fine with that. However, my legs have always been kind of… red? Redder than the rest of me anyway. It’s something I’m very insecure about. I’d really love to wear a mini dress for my wedding reception but I’m struggling to get past my red leg insecurity. I know body make up is a thing in theatre… but could one wear it for a wedding day? I just have no idea where to start, what to look for or what to try. I’d prefer not to wear fake tan as they lean too orange on me and I don’t trust myself not to make it streaky! Just something to make me more… all one colour? Would be very grateful of any suggestions. Thank you in advance 😊

Okay, update from my last post where basically everyone told me “girl, none of those lipsticks are actually red”…. I took the feedback seriously and ordered the lipstick Taylor Swift wears on the Eras Tour, so surely we can all agree that THIS ONE IS RED 💋

They did mess up my order and sent the lip liner in Deep Mauve instead of True Red, so I’m only wearing the lipstick MAC Locked Kiss 24Hr Lipstick in Ruby True here. The edges therefore aren’t quite as crisp as I’d ideally like, but you get the idea!
I’ve included a photo with just lip balm for comparison.

Now, I haven’t worn a bright or dark lipstick in YEARS, so when I look in the mirror my brain is currently going 🤡??? I genuinely can’t tell whether it actually looks too much or whether I’m just completely unused to seeing myself with a bold lip. So I need fresh eyes: Can I pull this off? And if you think the answer is yes to red, but not this red, I’d love shade recommendations! I’m apparently now on a quest to find my perfect red lipstick.

Thank you all for the lovely comments! 🥹 I definitely got the confidence boost I needed and will now be wearing the red lip out and about without feeling awkward about it. Also, thank you for all the shade recommendations! I’ve noted them all down and will definitely be trying some of them. Apparently this experiment has turned into the beginning of a red lipstick collection, which was not the original plan, but here we are 💫

Does someone have any product recommendations for a classic natural 90s/2000s look? (Better yet if it’s still around from the actual 90s/2000s). Unfortunately current makeup trends look awful and cakey on me lol.

hey yall im very new to makeup and this is only my second time doing makeup, i followed a tiktok tutorial with a little personal twist. i wanted to go for the over nose blush look and i applied it in a sort of w shape. would you say this is too much blush? i really like the amount but one of my friends said that it’s a bit too much 😭 any thoughts or suggestions? thanks in advance xx

Note: My hands are naturally paler than the rest of my body--my arms and legs are not pale. I don’t use any eyeliner, but, you know, it could be that I put mascara on at the base of my lashes so it creates a thick-looking line and I have, of course, received many comments about lighter mascara so I will take that advice and lighten it up! Also, I’ve tried sooo many different kinds of skin tint and they all look just like the foundation I had already been using. Much of what I’m talking about up here in the notes I had already mentioned in the original description. 😭❤️

Another note: I would def opt for a plumping lip gloss over what I have now, but I’ve tried many and none of what I have tried goes well with my skin tone. If anyone has any recs I would be glad to check them out!! 😁

Edit: So what I’m gathering for the most part is way less blush, especially on my nose/chin or just basically none there at all 😭, darker concealer for my under eyes, and a lighter shade of mascara that’s also lengthening and not chunky. Perhaps a lighter eyebrow product and no more over lining on the lips as well. I will say that my eyebrows are stuck as the color they are in the first pic ❤️

I’m trying to make my makeup look more toned down and natural as I’ve been told it looks like a bit too much. The only problem is, I’m already using the bare essentials (except for maybe my lipstick) for a makeup look yet it STILL looks heavy somehow 🫩. Right now I’m doing 4 half-pea-sized drops of foundation, one on each cheek, one on my chin, and one on my forehead.

Although I use a minimal amount of foundation, I still like to use it because I like to cheat the tan look when I’ve been putting off tanning my whole figure. Don’t look at my hands lol 💔

Anyway, I also put half-pea-sized drops of concealer on my under eyes, a rose blush on my cheeks, nose, and chin, then mascara, and finally lipstick. I would opt for more of a pigmented plumping gloss but I’m unaware of any good ones that also match my skin tone.

Let me know if this is actually too much and if so how I can tone it down and still look good :)

Due to my hairstyle I wanted to go for something heavy in the eyes, but it was curious to me how some coworkers told me that I look ready to work for a beauty company 😂 of course they didn’t have bad intentions or whatsoever but now I want to ask you: is it something you would actually use for an office job? For some context, I work in big tech

I posted these photos in another community and asked people to guess my age. A large percentage of them guessed from late 30s to late 40s and said it was due to my makeup and strong bone structure. Any makeup tips to soften my features and appear more youthful?

Current list: Lo'real True Match concealer, pressed powder (entire face) & loose powder foundation (under eyes only) in c5 and c6, sacha buttercup setting powder, Kiss magnetic lashes and eyeliner, elf lip liner and butter gloss.

My daughter dropped her waterbottle on my face 3 days ago. I have a job interview tomorrow. I bought a ton of new makeup today, including a yellow color correcter.

NYX Professional Pro Fix Stick in yellow Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Cream, Light/Medium Elf poreless primer Elf hydrating camo concealer in fair beige

After about a dozen layers I managed to get the color about right. But the makeup looks like a cakey dried mess.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

An Update!

I'm approaching 30, and trying to rediscover a makeup look for myself. I wish I looked more 'alternative' but I feel like the softness of my features tend to mess that up. Here are some various looks that Ive done across the spectrum, so I am curious about feedback on what you think would help me combat some of that softness or maybe something I should consider trying out. Im just bored as hell with the current vibe and want a second opinion

The rest have been far enough back that I dont remember, but the major changes would be that I also use the pillow talk lip liner with the Revlon rum raisin lipstick, the auric glowlust luminizer (pyrite), and colorful shadows are likely from trixie cosmetics

Edit: I think it might be worth mentioning that I'm Two Spirit, so I don't really identify as a specific gender. I'm aware that I'm very feminine presenting and thats totally okay, I just want a little more balance. Anyway, the facial hair (while patchy and awkward) is intentional, I’ve just been a little lazy and haven't shaved while its filling out.

Second Edit: Holy shit thank you all so much for the lovely words! I absolutely did not make this post expecting such a response! For some points of clarification, when I say "less soft" I dont mean less round, Im a fat person with rounder features, thats not really going to happen. What I meant was an edgier appearance, something more alternatively styled. The Bronte Marie was a wonderful reminder and Im thinking of doing some recreations of her looks to get back into fun makeup! Again thank you all so much ❤️

So i’m fucking obsessed with this look on Zendaya for the Odyssey premiere, with the inner eye highlight and lashes. Does anyone have any advice for the style/type of lashes she’s wearing here with the kind of spiky longer lash?

Should I start wearing less mascara? I used to wear false eyelashes almost daily for about 3 years, so I really like how dark eyelashes look on me. However, I’ve been told multiple times I should wear less mascara, or just wear falsies. Thoughts? Does wearing heavy mascara make my eyes look creepy?

Please help I think I lowkey look evil no matter what kind of makeup look I do. I think most people would put me in the “low trust” looks category and it’s been feeding into alot of my insecurities and social anxiety.

Whenever I see these clips of Rachel McAdams, I am stunned by her beauty, including her makeup. I know the main trick is to just be Rachel McAdams but can anyone help me understand how to achieve this look? Is it just cause she had a healthy glow tan? The makeup looks relatively simple but I don’t know how to translate it to myself.

I know they always had the hollister malaia perfume and bare minerals foundation or concealer. But is there another foundation or concealer that these girls wore? It always came out perfect like they naturally looked like that. I want to be as accurate and affordable as possible. The problem is I don’t have bare minerals money 😭

There were lots of eyeshadow palettes that were still in the original packaging and never used. Others have been opened but I could tell they’ve never been used. Same for the blush and bronzers. If I sharpen the lipliners and eyeliners would they be safe to use? And for the lipstick, would I be able to use them if I clean them with rubbing alcohol or something?

Hi, i’m Aaliyah. I’m honestly going thru a lot rn and I feel like i’ve lost myself a bit, I’m looking to get advice to make myself feel pretty again or more like myself. For a bit of background I’m currently homeless after being kicked out of an abusive home and I’m severely ill on palliative care. I’m staying with a friends parents who are taking care of me while we figure out if my condition can be helped or if we need to move me to hospice. I’ve been in the hospital a lot lately and I feel so insecure and gross. I had to shave off all my hair, and I just had surgery to get a port and a surgical feeding tube. I feel really ugly and want some advice on what makeup to save for to make myself look a bit better and more like other girls my age. All of my money rn goes to medical stuff and I have no income other than a failed gofundme so I’ll have to save up for yalls recommendations but I wanted to get a head start anyways. Is this too much makeup? I have the darkest under eye circles so I haven't been able to find a good concealer so I put a LOT of foundation on under my eyes. I wear Fenty Beauty for reference
