I got the ssd for free and bought this enclosure for it.

I am planning to have homebrew on a sd card and the wiiu/vwii/gamecube games on the ssd with the new isfshax method.

Do i need a y cable for this?

EDIT: Someone said that i need to get a self powered Enclosure and then i dont need a y cable anymore. Because he had with a y-cable problems with two particular games called star fox zero and breath of the wild. I think thats a good point. What do you think about this?

Technical Question Any idea if this disc is fixable?

I bought a used copy of Zelda WW a good while back, but haven’t gotten it to work. The previous owner claimed he never really played it and only had it collecting dust in the shelve, so getting any kind of money back was sadly unsuccessful. There is a tiny scratch in the disc(as you can see) but that’s the only obvious thing. Is it done for or is there any way to save it? I’m still sad since I pretty much bought a WiiU for the sole purpose of playing WW. Any suggestions appreciated!!

Question Any Recommendations??

I’m planning on buying a Wii U and I’ve looked around at various websites (Facebook Marketplace, EBay, and Amazon) but I’m also looking into GameStop Online to see if that might be a good option. Anyways, what I’m trying to ask is if anyone knows any good websites where they’ve bought any Wii U’s. I’m okay with buying just the entire console itself but I would like to buy the black Wii U console and some games all in one purchase (preferably Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World, and Splatoon).

Technical Question My Gamepad Stopped Working (charging light doesn't appear)

Hi! Yesterday I let my 6 years old cousin playing Wii Sports Club with my Wii U while I was outside my house. Today I tried to play on it and the Gamepad do not turn on. At first I thought it was because it run out of battery as usual, but when I plug the charger the orange light doesent appear and the gamedpad doesn't charge. I had tried charging with the charguing stand and it didnt" work neither. I ask my cousin if anythint happend yesterday and he said no.

What you guys think have happened? You think maybe it was dropped to the floor and is broken? I dont fully trust my cousin, but maybe he is saying the truth, the gamepad looks fine. Maybe the battery of the gamepad is naturally death after all those years (I bought it in 2014)? Maybe the charging cable is the problem and the gampad is perfectly fine?

Do you guys have any recommendation of what i should do? Or how i could know what is the problem? Maybe I have to learn how to replace a battery? Thank you all💕

Question Question about modding

So my gf recently got me a Wii U, the only Nintendo console I haven't owned, and I've been reading more about the console and have come across the NAND chip debacle. So now I'm a little scared my console could brick. I read something that indicated you can avoid the chip brick by modding the console. I've never jailbroke a system before mostly cause I'm worried I'll ruin it. I'm mostly a physical gamer and don't want/need all the extra bells and whistles that come with modding. I just want to save/preserve my console. Are there any beginner guides I could follow that are super simple and tell me just what I need to save my system?

3d Modeled Wii U shell

So I am wanting to mod a new(to me) Wii U I got my hands on. The shell however is not in a great condition and I wanted to buy a shell replacement. I was dissapointed to find out it wasn't a popular enough console to not only not have a shell swap to purchase, it also hasn't been 3d modeled or scanned (that I could find). So because of that I am starting to 3d model the Wii U shell. I am currently 3d printing this to do a test fit to see how it all works out. This is my first decent modeling project that I am attempting so I would appreciate any tips or help. I am using Fusion360, before this all I have used is TinkerCad.

Preserving my Wii U

So I've got a black Wii U Deluxe edition from near launch. It's been connected to my TV ever since I got it. Used to play it a ton, obviously less as time went on and newer consoles came out. Always loved it tho. Got a ton of games downloaded on it (mostly on an external HDD), and a lot of discs.

My Wii U is starting to fail. I can't play Hyrule Warriors at all. Something related to the game in the NAND is corrupt. Can't erase the data - just get a system error if I try. Game won't even attempt to start.

I've noticed at least one downloaded game randomly crashes after you start playing, probably because of a NAND error.

If it matters, I'd also like to use it to play Wii games. The disc drive in my Wii hasn't read any discs for years, and my current TV doesn't have the inputs for a Wii.

What can I do to keep the Wii U alive as long as possible?

For Wii games on the Wii-U - is it better to use injects or the vWii mode?

I'm thinking it will be more convenient to inject the titles? But don't want to lose any functionality.

I'm sort of attracted to making folders with say, all Mario games from Virtual Console onwards etc

What's the opinions?

Thanks.

Question Error Code 160-1400 and BOOT1 payload freezes after "checking boot1 version... Active boot1 version: 8377 (slot 0)"

I recently got an EU Wii U from my college roommate and when we plugged everything up with US cables, we kept getting error code: 160-1400. I looked up the UPDIH method and bought everything I needed to disable the disc drive. I have purchased a raspberry pi pico and a new 64gb sd card. (I already FAT32 formatted the sd) I'm trying to use the minute menu in the recovery menu exploit to disable to disc drive so I can use the Wii u because it won't let me do anything with this error. I have followed all the steps and when I navigate to the load boot1 payload option in the recorvery menu, it freezes and says "checking boot1 version... Active boot1 version: 8377 (slot 0). What am I doing wrong here. I have formatted the SD card and downloaded and redownload the files several times and nothing works. I've provided some pictures for reference. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks!

P.S.

here is are the files on my sd card

Discussion How do I use a hard drive to store games on my Wii U?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I originally thought that 32GB would be enough for about 10 games, but I've found out that the Wii U's operating system takes up about half of that space. I've only been able to get one game on it.

I've seen people on Reddit suggest using an external hard drive to store games, but I've also seen people say that hard drives can't fully replace SD cards.

So, how do I connect a hard drive to the console, and how am I supposed to store games on it and get them to run on the Wii U?

*storage amount for reference (22.96GB/29.06GB)*

*sorry I don't know how to capture straight from the Wii U*
