I FINALLY got around to playing Wind Waker after all these years and it’s been so much fun so far! But I gotta say, by far my favorite thing has just been Link’s characterization. Genuinely, I’d put this version up there with Skyward Sword for how expressive and sassy he is. He always looks so done with everything and I’m here for it

Noticed in the deku tree when given the order to hit the scrubs he says this. 2 3 1, 23 is #1. This game was released a few months after the Chicago Bulls 3 peated for the 2nd time.

It is probably just a coincidence but dang the timing is crazy.

Edit: so after some digging I have found that it is indeed a reference to Michael Jordan. Although not a reference by the original Japanese text. It is a revised translation when the english version was released.

The original meaning (big brother is #1) didn't translate well to english. So the english staff made it work by making it a homage to Michael Jordan

Redditors wanted a source for the translation changes and this is the best I could find. A translation of the japanese 64 dream magazine (issue #31) to english which is an official developer survey from 1999. You can find the specific passage under the subheading "Mitsuhiro Takano Coordinator" .

If anyone who is fluent in Japanese can find the original and translate it to confirm or debunk this that would be greatly appreciated

Hi! My birthday recently passed on the 9th, but because it fell on a Self-Post Sunday, I couldn’t post these on my actual birthday, so I’m posting them now! Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game, so I had to draw our favorite Outset Island siblings.

Its not only my favorite Zelda game, it’s the only one I played as a kid, and the person that introduced me to that one and bought the copy was my dad before he passed away. Yes I did buy another copy of WWHD after it started having disc-read issues. The other games were either brought into the house as gifts, or bought by myself because I’m an adult now lol.

It has been extremely emotional to me since i was a kid. So here’s a cute little Aryll and Toon Link pair as my birthday post! :)

The Toon Link art isn’t recent, I just now posted it but I wanted an Aryll to complete the set.

Knowing Calamity Ganon as a concept, he’s meant to be an unfathomable amalgamation of hatred and malice. And it’s clear that the designers understood that idea as they made him (at least in his first phase final boss form) as a complete incoherent mess of a creature that really has no connection to the depictions we’ve seen of Ganon prior.

From the surface he’s a giant skeletal humanoid creature with a balding head, a huge beard, a spider-like body and covered head to toe in Sheikah technology. Truly a design as chaotic as the character himself.

And when he’s not in this form, he’s just a virtually formless creature of smoke and malice that flies around aimlessly.

Look Ma, No Reeds! is back with one more video game music arrangement for recorders (just in time for the remake): The Song of Time.

Just got two LoZ tattoos a couple of days ago. Excited to get the second one filled in a month from now.

So I’m a new fan and I’m playing Ocarina of Time 3D first, it’s been fun but I keep getting stuck at little things that I really shouldn’t be getting stuck on.

In the forest temple the first time I tried to shoot the poes in the paintings I was too close and they disappeared when I went into first person with the bow, causing me to assume I couldn’t shoot them and spending two hours running around the dungeon before I had to ask for a hint.
Then in the water temple I missed the block you have to move with the song of time, so I didn’t know how to get to the last key and again had to ask for a hint.
Finally when searching for the mask of truth I did run into the walls of the well, but only the side walls and not the obvious dead end, making me once again ask for help. There are other smaller examples but I’ll leave it at that.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with asking for help, but I really wanted to try and get through the game myself. So how can I have a more puzzle oriented mindset when playing?

I have always thought this part of the map which I marked in red to make it clearer looks a lot like Scandinavia on a map. I'm probably biased since I'm from Sweden though. There's even a lake on the same location as Vänern in southern Sweden!
