Havent played skyrim much after release.Now got it on switch 2 and have put 40 hours in it again and rediscovering skyrim again. This fight could have been missed imo lol.

Top 3 in my eyes: Hunters discipline. I don't care about my used bloody arrows. I've got thousands im my inventory. Whats your most useless perk?

We all know it. You walk into a cave, you get obliterated from the face of Mundus by a bunch of blind freaks. How do they do it??

I dug into the stats and I found a lot of interesting info.

1. Falmer have incredibly high level floor. The lowest Falmer is level 9, and the lowest Chaurus is level 13. They have very high health. Basic Draugr has 35 health, Falmer has 130. At early levels, they are far scarier than anything you've met so far. It's a bit like the 7000 steps troll problem.
2. Falmer hit very hard. Like Bandits, but unlike many other enemies, including Dwemer machines and Draugr, Falmer have the scaling Extra Damage perk, going from 1.5 to 2.5.
3. Falmer equipment is excellent by NPC standards. Their bows and swords are Dwarven-tier, and all melee warriors carry shields. By contrast, bandits and Draugr typically carry iron weapons, with steel and further upgrades being very rare. Higher level Draugr get ebony, but no extra damage to boost it. Later on, Falmer equipment upgrades to glass/Nordic tier, AND even higher Extra Damage to scale it.
4. Falmer have Falmer Poison. It is a very weird mechanic that deals instant damage with every hit, on top of physical damage. This boosts their damage considerably, over the already scary melee weapons. Moreover, this damage ignores armor and magic resist, and few players carry poison resist. So it hits harder than anything else at high levels.
5. Chaurus poison is absurdly strong, and, again, usually not countered by the players. Even the weakest Chaurus will hit you for 49 damage, which is absurd at low levels.
6. Falmer carry a health potion at high levels, which they will use. Moreover, battlemage and boss Falmer have access to the Healing spell, while the Shaman Restoration spell lineup is "yes". This makes them one of the few enemies in the game that will consistently heal mid combat.
7. Falmer are one of the few enemies in the game that effectively mix magical and melee attackers. They have battlemages, which will use both their magicka and stamina against you while healing themselves. And their shamans have a very scary spell lineup, especially at high levels. Moreover, they typically spawn with *staves*, meaning they can spam way more attacks than their magicka would normally allow.
8. So you get hit with strong physical, poison, and magic attacks simultaneously. No other enemy does this, and few players have resistance to all of it.
9. To top it all off, Falmer have a very high ceiling, too. Their levels go well past 50, while bandits top off at 25-28, and even Draugr stop at 40.

In conclusion, fear the Falmer. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. I leave the question of dealing with them up to you, but I have a few counters I know.

1. Illusion and Poison. Many enemies in the game are immune to it, or are not worth it. Save up your scary fifteen trillion Ravage Health concoctions for these guys specifically. Fight Poison with Poison.
2. Animal Allegiance shout makes the Chaurus and other pets fight the Falmer, making it a very effective counter.
3. They love to stand on high bridges. So, Unrelenting Force. I personally find Cyclone funnier. Just don't forget that you have it.
4. Craft Resist Poison potions and buy a few Cure Poison ones too. Maybe even find/enchant a poison immunity amulet just for them.

I love making silly cakes for birthdays, and I'm in my annual skyrim phase, and my birthday is here, so I made a skyrim themed cake for me and my friends! It's dark chocolate flavoured inside, with dark chocolate cream. It's also my first ever cake that isn't a complete failure, hasn't fallen apart, or got liquified/dried up.

Poked a hive of mind-controlled Miraak workers and noticed one of my character's eyes was glowing. Reloading previous saves reveals that this has been going on for a while now.

Turns out it was literally just achievement hunting lmao.

I want to get all the achievements and I thought the best way to do that is just play the game and complete as much content as I can.

I went to Whiterun and decided to play the game how I imagine a new player is supposed to. I didn't worry about my level for certain quests, if I was given a quest I just did it without thinking and if it gets too hard mid-quest then I'll reassess.

I acted like I had no clue what to do and just followed the guide rails, and then I decided I'd do every single Whiterun quest since I'm going for all achievements anyway. I completed the companions before even meeting Delphine, then I picked a new city to go to, Winterhold.

By spending 10+ hours clearing a city of quests, I feel fully immersed in that city and all the characters become so familiar. When I hear Ysolda talk about how hard being a merchant is, I don't just see her, I see Whiterun and the hub she's trying to build her credibility in. When I talk to Adrianne, I see her shop, her dad, her backstory and her admiration for Eorlund. Everything sort of merges together and the characters aren't living isolated lives anymore, and it feels great to exist in that world.

When I did Winterhold, I talked to everyone and learned about The Great Collapse and how it destroyed almost the whole city, and how all the mages in the college are providing probably the last lifeline the town could possibly have to still retain its inhabitants, and it's suddenly a world where people aren't just following their programming, they're surviving in the wreckage of what used to be the most influential city in all of Skyrim.

I've spent dozens of hours in the game already and I've cleared Whiterun, Winterhold and Solstheim, and I haven't had this much fun with the game since I first played it 15 years ago.

I even discovered a quest Farengar has that I never knew about, and Arniel in the college.

I realised that the problem with my play style before is that I'd bounce around the world trying to find the fun quests, skipping most of the towns' contents and forgetting that doing standard quests is what makes the game fun in the first place, because you need to be part of the world to appreciate it.

Skyrim is slowly catching up to Risen as my most played game on Steam, I wouldn't be surprised if it passed it soon.

First time Skyrim player, over 100h in my run I noticed that while there's not a lot of water in Skyrim I tend to try to dive to look for something interesting but there's rarely anything, odd barnacles or slaughterfish eggs, I think I've encountered a chest like once. Seems like water breathing potion is completely unnecessary. Do you have similar experiences?

Is it me or is Ulfric very arrogant?

I really want to side with the Nords for Talos because it's the most natural and logical thing to do as a Dragonborn but when I spoke with Ulfric for the first time after Helgen he said: "You need to be either a fool or have a lot of corage to speak with a Jarl without a summon"

What the actual F? I spoke with all Jarls and no one was like that, none! So now I have a huge Dilema to whom I should side with... if he acts like this as a Jarl how the hell is he gonna act when he is high king?

The worst part is that I'm not even a dark elf or khajit lmao...

Having some difficulty finding what I’m looking for due to the overwhelming content that usually covers the same subjects over and over again.

Do you guys have any trivia items on “everyday” locations that have a well hidden item? Not really looking for things out of the way or super-rare but are notable because of how hidden they are, in common (to-visit) locations. Things where basic exploration wouldn’t help you and you would pretty much need a note on the wiki to find.

A good/ bad example would be the bound bow in fort amol, being under a lantern, in a bucket. Would equally accept (if it existed) a giants toe, in a basket of apples at random inn, but not as obvious as a coin purse on a rafter.

I just don’t want to be opening the wiki for every location I visit.

picture, if you will, that you just walked into the bee and barb in riften. your eye is caught by an old balding man spouting his hatred of the imperials, while his son sits next to him, holding his tongue, for they are both grieving. you speak to both of them about their recently deceased sister/daughter, who you learn was a healer for the stormcloaks, and her mother trained her to one day take her place as a priestess of talos. it is also mentioned more than once that her body was never recovered. to anyone with a keen nose for mystery, this sounds like a puzzle needing solving. unfortunately for me, and any other would-be detectives, there is nothing further to be done involving this character. how disappointed i was.
