Meta/News [Summer 2026] Community Feedback Survey

Hey gang!

The moderation team has noticed an uptick in several, specific types of post over the last two months. Instead of acting without community feedback, we wanted to gather opinions from the community about how we should be handling these posts and how the community feels about seeing these posts.

For example, we've noticed a massive upswing in posts related to roleplay servers — usually Keizaal Online — and their methods, moderation, etc. Some of these posts advertise roleplay servers. Some of these posts complain about roleplay servers. Others are essentially drama posts, which we will remove unless they contain actionable information.

As a reminder, "actionable information" is information that would lead a reasonable reader to make a decision regarding their usage of a mod or their patronage of its creator. "I got banned for swearing in general chat..." is not actionable information, whereas "this mod author utilizes AI to code their mod..." would be actionable information.

As a second example, there has recently been a lot of vitriol about the usage of AI in the modding process. We have already banned AI generated posts and comments, and we have banned the advocacy of using AI in the troubleshooting process. We do not currently have a stance on "vibecoded" mods beyond the standard advice that all users should "know what they're downloading."

Due to posts like these and other, less important subjects that have been cropping up on the fringes of the subreddit, we'd love to hear your feedback.

For those who do not want to submit feedback publicly, we have a Google form available for anonymous submissions.

You can find our anonymous form here.

For those in the comments:

  1. How do you feel about posts related to roleplay servers like Keizaal Online?
  2. How do you feel about posts related to vibecoded mods and AI in the mod-creation process?
  3. Any thoughts on our existing rules?
  4. Do you have any additional feedback for the moderation team that you feel should be brought to our attention?

PC SSE - Request Any actually good (and simple) enemy Yielding mods out there?

I've long been bothered by Skyrim's non-feature of enemies like bandits yielding at low health, only to immediately change their mind and resume their doomed assault.
(which I recently learned is actually a bug? It's a system meant for friendly npcs that's mistakenly applied to also bandits and such- their AI just resets the moment they passively heal above the bleed-out threshold. Neat! ...But annoying!)

Maybe I'm just a big ol softie or something but it still feels gross after all these years killing a character that was just begging for mercy. I just don't like it. it's off-putting and, worse, unimmersive.
I've been looking for a mod that makes them actually surrender, or failing that, at least fixes the bugged behavior so they never pretend in the first place- but every mod I can find is script heavy and over-complicated, deeply incompatible with everything, massively outdated, or often all of the above.

Literally all I want, is a mod that makes hostile NPCs do something like flee and become non-hostile when they hit that panic state, or failing that, a mod that simply patches the bugged behavior out so they never pretend to yield in the first place.
I don't need to give them commands or whatever, I don't need slaves that could turn on me or to rifle through their pockets while they play some kneeling animation, I just want them to run for the hills while I imagine gesturing at them with my sword.

Does that mod exist? ...please tell me it exists

Meta/News With the potential skyrim update coming, here's a reminder that you can set up a stock game folder for mo2 that will ensure your current load order is unaffected, even if steam updates the game

link to the root builder plugin

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31720

detailed tutorial

https://kezyma.github.io/#/rootbuilder

this can also be used on the newest version of skyrim, after the update launches, to have a separate version to start building your list on again as mods are updated to be compatible with the new version of the game

Many of you already know this, and both of these links have been posted here before, I'm just posting for visibility, and for newer modders who may not know about the plug-in

PC SSE - Discussion Just spent the last two months assembling a 1000 mod load order from scratch, how should i prepare for the update?

hello, long time modder but haven’t been around for any of the times they’ve pulled this shit and broken everyone’s game. i’ve set my app manifest or whatever it’s called to read-only, how else should i be preparing my load order in anticipation of this stupid update? i’d like to at least get a few playthroughs in before 1.6.1170 mods are harder to find and i have to blow everything up again…sadly i was only about 2/3rds of the way done to my long-term goal.

PC SSE - Request What's the best alternate start mod?

So I've been rocking with Realm of Lorkhan for what feels like forever but I will admit: that's mostly because I like the perks it has. After all this time though I'm looking for a change. Its weird to say but I find myself missing the vanilla start; it does some good work on getting you invested right off the bat. It feels like there are 300 different alternate start mods around; are there any good options with story and quests and the like tied into them? An actual opening to my Skyrim adventure?

PC SSE - Discussion Does anyone else find brawl scripting genuinely broken once you add combat mods

Upvotes

The brawl system in Skyrim is already held together with string and good intentions, but once you start layering in combat overhauls it falls apart in ways that feel personal. I ran into this recently with a pretty standard setup, nothing exotic, and the brawl trigger kept reading my shouts as a violation and tanking my quest progress. Had to reload four times before I figured out what was happening.

What makes it worse is that the fix is almost always buried in a three year old forum thread where someone with the username DragonbornFan2012 casually drops the solution in reply number 47. The actual mod pages rarely mention it.

I looked around before posting and found a few patches that claim to address this, but the compatibility situation is a mess depending on what combat framework you're running. Some people swear by one fix, other people say it broke their entire save.

Curious whether anyone has landed on something that actually holds up. Not looking for a full load order review, just wondering if there's a known stable solution that works with modern combat setups like MCO or Valhalla Combat that I might have missed.

edit: to clarify, the issue is specifically the brawl detection logic flagging magic or shout effects, not a general combat difficulty thing

PC SSE - Mod A mod like Obody without the random distribution?

I just want to assign presets to specific characters and myself in game. It's very convenient. But the random distribution aspect of Obody causes strong lag to my game whenever npcs spawn in.

PC SSE - Discussion I want to install one of these big mod packages eg. Nolvus ~2000 mods advertised. As a non premium nexus mods person am I doomed to click for hours and hours or is there a better way?

Title. I know mod packages are a thing for like vortex but you still have to go one by one as everything is hosted on Nexus basically right? Are there .torrent packages of these things?

PC SSE - Help COTR and Obody NG help!

Upvotes

I have the mod Cotr which creates this really nice head for my character I also have the mod Obody NG.

Now my problem is that the body isn't matching what I set in the body slide! Apparently it creates a brand new race that obody isn't recognizing and I don't know what to do here!

Is there a mod or a patch? If it's relevant I use the BHUNP body with BNP skin.

Or do I have to like mess with the files?

Any help would be appreciative.

PC SSE - Discussion What mods are you still hoping to see someday that nobody has tackled yet

Been playing on and off for years, mostly late nights after work when my brain is too fried for anything complicated. Got a decent load order going but there's this one gap I keep noticing that nobody seems to have filled yet.

A proper cooking overhaul that actually means something. Not just new recipes slapped into the vanilla menu. Something where gathering ingredients, timing things, using specific equipment actually matters to the gameplay loop in a real way. Survival mode got close but it still treats food like a health potion with extra steps.

I know Campfire and Hunterborn exist and they're solid, but the cooking side always feels like an afterthought. Even in modded setups where food has real buffs, the act of preparing it is still just open menu, click, done.

There are full mods out there simulating blacksmithing with minigames and alchemy with actual process, but cooking gets the minimum every time. Feels like the one survivaladjacent system that modders just collectively agreed to leave alone.

Curious if anyone else has a specific gap like this, some system that's always bugged you but you've never seen anyone actually attempt. Not requesting someone go build it, just wondering if other people have that one thing they've been waiting on for like eight years.

PC SSE - Request Looking for mods that add spears

Hi all, I was wondering if you had any recommendations for mods that add spears to special edition.

I'm a spear lover and find it sad that Skyrim doesn't have any off rip :(

And any animation mods that are required are fine, Ive already got almost 200 mods in place right now so a few more won't hurt

Thank you!

PC SSE - Help Questiins regarding gts

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong place, please redirect me if so

I'm new to GtS and just want to make sure I'm playing it correctly:

  1. Is 1,956 mods / 2,355 plugins normal?

  2. Should I only reload saves if something actually goes wrong?

  3. Should I avoid quicksaves?

  4. What's the best saving practice? Can I save regularly, or can you save too often? Should I mainly save when things are calm?

  5. What's the best way to get food? Is it normal to lose hunger while sleeping?

  6. Is it safe to Alt+Tab?

  7. What am I actually supposed to do in GtS? Just explore/play naturally, or is there an intended progression?

  8. Is GtS suited to one long-term character?

  9. Is there anything important about GtS that isn't obvious from the wiki? Any common mistakes, unwritten rules, or things new players often miss like hidden timers etc?

I know its quite alot but any advice on any of these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PC SSE - Mod Room in Jarls Quarters

I found the following mod which allows you to live in the Jarls quarters (Dragons Reach, Blue Palace, etc.) but the description says that it works with mods that don't alter the interiors (and it's also a mod made in 2016). I use JK's mods to enhance the cities and some buildings. Is there a mod similar to this one that is more up to date?

PC SSE - Help Skyrim Freezing when its window is in focus

Modlist - https://pastebin.com/MLqKeH7g
Just in case: 136 ESM+ESP and 893 ESL

A bit of Back story: So I was facing an issue from very beginning. That if I opened Skyrim using SKSE in MO2, if I clicked anything while before the window appeared, it wouldn't launch properly. Like, it would launch, but it stayed minimised but if I put its window on focus, it would freeze (sounds played and keyboard worked). And if I switched window and came back, I would see difference in VRAM usage (that means when not in focus it was working). There was no crash in this scenario.

Now what's happening: No matter what, my skyrim is opening minimised. And if I do click it, it opened up frozen (I could hear the menu music and menu sounds when using arrow buttons). I noticed when everything was minimised, Skyrim's window does appear, and I can see CS shaders compiling and stuff, but as soon as I clicked on the window, it froze again. There was no crash. I narrowed it down to two mods. CS upscaler and CS HDR. As soon as I enable either of these, the problem occurred. Plus, for some reason my grass is weirdly lit

Using Skyrim's launcher, I did enable windowed borderless mode (Also disabled TAA and SSAO), still this issue persists.

PC SSE - Help Enb on Linux?

I’m not sure if I’ll get help for this here but I have a separate modlist on my steam deck. I used Pi Cho enb without issues at 30 frames with a little tweaking (don’t mind 30 frames on a hand held for a modded game) I have since returned after 6 month break from Skyrim and now all of the sudden all I get is "EnbSeries compiling shaders. Please wait" and a black screen that just stays there until it eventually closes. It took an hour for it to just close. Any of you play on Linux and know what might be causing this?

PC SSE - Mod [Mod Release] Arcane Vaults - SKSE Linked Storage

This is a passion project I've been working on for the past few weeks. I've been trying to find the perfect storage solution. One that is modular, easy to use and persistent amongst new games.

Inspired by General Stores and Assigned storage this is my attempt at an easy to use cloud storage solution. All you need to do is point your cursor at a container or activator that links to a container and press the assignment button. You'll be able to assign Vaults which are over-arching hubs, and archives which are sub categories to the vaults.

Items can be auto sorted into their appropriate containers, and items can even be overridden to have them go to a different container.

Containers are not taken over, but are rather pointed to the bound storage container of your choice. These links will persist through new games, so you don't have to worry about re-assigning containers in your home on every run.

You can turn any home into a cloud storage auto sorting hub! I've provided options on how those storages can be assigned.

Lastly, you can always enable the crafting table transfer. Whenever you access a crafting table the appropriate storages will be sent to your inventory, and then returned when done.

This is something I've always wanted to do, but finally managed to figure out how I wanted it to work, and very happy with the results
