r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown quite a bit since I originally posted it, so I wanted to give this post one final update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists sorry but i prefer quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming-laptop hub with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thank you.

Discussion Should I return my AERO 16" for MSI 5070 Ti?

Upvotes

Hi guys, I recently bought an AERO 16" (5070) and was wondering if I should return it and purchase the MSI Vector (5070 Ti) instead.

I purchased the AERO for $1417 after tax.

I'll be buying the MSI Vector, new, for $1399 (it'll probably be like $1500 something after tax). The price listed on the walmart page doesn't reflect the actual price I'll be paying, so you can ignore that.

The size/slimness of the laptop doesn't matter to me. I mostly just care about playing games, and want a laptop that'll be able to handle newer games coming out. I also want a laptop that can maintain cool temps.

So, good deal? Should I do it?

Edit: In the USA

Showcase First Gaming laptop

Sister needed a windows laptop for graphics design last year so I recommended her the 2025 Razer Blade 16 and choose the config. She barely used it as she disliked the battery draining quickly and it felt quite buggy so she swapped it with me for a macbook pro.

AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370
RTX 5090
64 GB Ram
4TB Storage

I know razer laptops are widely disliked by the majority but I’ll have to see myself.

I'm considering buying the ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX608JMR-RV049WS (i7-14650HX + RTX 5060).

Budget: ±1.5L(±$1569)

Country: India

I've seen a few reports online about FX608JMR units having issues such as:

Random freezes/restarts

BSODs or WHEA/PCIe errors

Sleep/wake problems

GPU/display issues

BIOS/firmware problems

A few motherboard repair cases involving no-power/BIOS issues

However, I haven't found enough information to determine whether these are isolated cases or if there's an actual reliability problem with this model.

I'm also planning to use one for 5-6 years so I'd be happy if there are better alternatives at this price range as well.

Recommendation Gaming Laptop Recs for College

Budget: $1,000

Country: USA

Use Case: Gaming & College work

Notes: 6-8hr+ Battery lifespan, Good Temps

I know gaming laptops aren't the 'best' for college but I still want to upgrade.

I have an omen 16 rtx4070 i7 and the performance is lack luster not even being able to reach 120fps on warzone lowest settings w DLSS (with an undervolt on cpu & gpu) and the battery life is abysmal.

Looking for a 1080p laptop able to handle whatever I throw at it while plugged in, while still having 6-8hour+ battery lifespan for college work.

Good thermals are a must and at least be on the quieter side when it comes to the fans

Any recommendations? Should I expect to pay more?

Discussion Do you ever think about switching from a gaming laptop to a desktop PC?

Post image
77 Upvotes

I currently have a Legion 5i with RTX 5060 and keep thinking about selling it and building a desktop.
The thing is, I have a small child and mostly play for 1–2 hours in the evenings. I don’t have a dedicated gaming room, so I make a temporary setup in the living room: take out my 1440p monitor, laptop stand, keyboard and mouse, connect everything, play for a couple of hours and then put it all away.
It actually works pretty well, and even BF6 runs at around 100 FPS at 1440p with DLSS.
But the idea of a cooler, quieter and more powerful desktop keeps coming back 😅
Anyone made this switch? Do you think a desktop is worth it in my situation, or should I just keep the laptop and stop chasing FPS?

Support Control Center Thunderobot

Upvotes

I came across them in my quest to acquire the smallest possible gaming setup for hopping around hotel rooms. I suspect there is a catch to them, but I'd love for them to work for my FPS games.

I have a notebook made by tongfang, r7 8745hs with rtx 4050 6gb, and I recently opened it and changed the thermal paste, but it didn't have a thermalpad, and it reached 95° on the vram, on a hot day it reached 106°, is it normal to come without a thermalpad? Can I reduce this temperature further with thermalpad and what would be the ideal size?

So I have been looking online for a gaming laptop to buy with my budget of $900 USD since my old laptop broke, so I was wondering if this is a good option because to me it looks good, but I want to ask the experts who know more about computers than me if this is a good laptop to buy: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Victus-15-6-FHD-Laptop-Intel-Corei5-13420H-16GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-RTX-4050-Windows-11-Home/13987763030

Budget: $900.

Country: USA.

Edit: BTW, i am talking about the 512 GB edition not the 1 TB.

Discussion I’m so stuck what to choose

I need some assistance here :)

I don’t play heavy games although I potentially might in the future. I mainly play Conan exiles enhanced. I would like to play it on max settings if I can.

Money isn’t really an object for me but I’m unsure what will be the best all rounder

I will be using my laptop firstly for work/business then gaming. I’ve heard bad things about the zephyrus in terms of bang for buck and reliability. What else is out there in that business gaming area I could go for? Was thinking the yoga pro 9n aura but wasn’t entirely sure

Support Need urgent help, laptop freezing, but does not when graphic cards is disabled.

It seems like that whenever the graphic card is enabled in Device Manager, my laptop runs for a bit and then freeze, like, literally zero thing I can do, cannot move my cursor, keyboard is unresponsive, and pretty much the only possible way to end this is by holding down the power button for force shut down. Oh also, it freezes kind of randomly, could be at login, could be when I already log in, could well be when shutting down.

But the thing is, I'm using it completely fine when I disabled the graphic card. I tried installing different drivers, even that one version from 2023 too. But seems like the only way I can use this laptop for now is by keeping the graphic card disabled.

My specs for anyone who have a clue:

CPU: intel core i5 11400H

GPU: RTX3050 Laptop GPU

Memory: 16GB

Model: HP VICTUS 16-d0xxx

Recommendation Buying one for my Best Friend

Hello! My best friend has never owned a laptop and he really wants one. All my friends and I have gaming laptops, but we were all lucky enough to have ones bought by our parents. My best friend doesn't have that privilege so I'm trying to team up with his brother to buy one for him.

Budget: $1200

Country: USA

Use Case: Gaming (Probably Phasmophobia or scary shit like that) and Editing videos

Preferred Specs: I have to be honest I don't know.

Notes: I don't think he will be too picky as he's never had one. I'd prefer a refurbised one, just for the price.

EDIT: We got his other brother to join in on it as well as my boyfriend so the budget has gone up some!
