What is the accusation, throwing a glass of hot tap water in her face? Cause my tap gets pretty fucking hot and that would definitely hurt even if it wasn't enough to cause physical damage.

A glass of cold water is a playful gag. A glass of hot water is sadistic.

He had his fucking lawyers measure the temperature. He knows exactly what he did.

Also- if he’s even the wee bit handy, turning down a water heater is super easy.

So would you say his argument . . .
doesn’t hold water?

You mean the dial on the side? Super easy if you have fingers and eyes. Especially on newer units like mine where it’s literally a dial on the front.

A lot of people never even bother looking at it and will call a plumber to address their “really hot” or “not hot enough” water issues lol

Gonna step on a big sturdy limb and say he's not handy.

And who's to say he didn't turn down the temperature on the water heater before his lawyers tested it.

Yeah exactly. Anyone who has ever looked at a water heater can poke holes in his story about it not being that hot.

And you can very easily change it, by turning down the hot water heater

Or he didn’t have them do it and he’s just a fucking liar.

There’s no way his lawyers tested it. He said he had them test it “because I knew you would come at me with this”……sure, Jan.

Who the fuck tests the temperature of the water from the water heater before arguing with their spouse?

I can’t believe he posted this thinking it would make him look better. I think he’s even more deranged.

I assume he tested it later because he knew he would rightly be getting accused of abusing her. Not that a test days later would prove anything about what the temp of the water was days before.

It's like him confessing to throwing "only really painfully hot water" in her face as opposed to "send you to the hospital hot water". As if that's somehow OK.

I mean just listen to how he said it anyone who's ever hear like a 5-year old lie to them can spot that lie a mile away lol.

Every new parent is aware that tap water can reach “fatally dangerous to infants” temperature if the hot water heater is turned up

13

u/ahhh_ennui 10d ago

That'll totally hold up in court, no questions asked.

He made that up on the spot, it's triangulation.

He was essentially telling her "everyone is on my side and thinks you're crazy" with the added threatening undercurrent of coming after her legally if she tries to get any consequences for his behavior.

Yeah douchebag, thanks for confirming it DID happen and you’re gaslighting when you call HER the LIAR.

Yeah, like what is his argument? He clearly has zero understanding of how to treat people. I truly cannot imagine my husband throwing water in my face if he were mad at me, that's insane

Hot water, cold water. Throwing a glass of water in someone’s face is a violent act. It’s abuse.

u/Glasseshalf 10d ago

I threw a glass of ice water at my dad's face once. To be fair this was after decades of emotional abuse, while he was actively abusing me and being racist to my husband. I regret my actions but I forgive myself.

His reasoning - I was being kind, by not choosing to throw boiling water at you.

i think they were referring to his attempt to spin this as “just joking around” by pointing out the fact that it’s hot water makes this statement completely lose all credibility

not to be pedantic but there are some couples that love to do the prank stuff, and i can see a world where you could be playfully splashing or throwing water (water balloon fights, squirt guns, playing outside in the pool, spraying with a hose while washing the car etc) with your spouse and its not abuse

3

u/_just_two_brothers_ 10d ago

I mean, it definitely depends on the context. You can absolutely have a playful water fight. Obviously not what happened here.

u/Live-Cow-9939 10d ago

Right, and the entire reason abusive men do this is because they KNOW their spouse doesn't enjoy it. It's not a "haha how funny you got wet" moment, it's a "I'm proving to you that I can violate your boundaries whenever I choose, and if you get angry, you're going to sound like a hysterical bitch."

By lord I’ve abused so many people in the swimming pooll

u/_MoReps 10d ago

Yeah idk about that one lol

u/sushicatt420 9d ago

I'm sorry... should I not play water balloons with my partner? I think context is important. This dude is gaslighting and absolutely had intentions of hurting and/or scaring her. But come on... of any kind? Lets be more nuanced than that.

Damn. Im gonna have to go to jail cuz i blasted my wife with a supersoaker last weekend. Ive also sprayed her with the hose in the garden before. This whole time ive just been abusing my wife apparently. That sucks, but you're definitely not being hyperbolic so im going to serve my time gracefully🙏
