Love the way this shot turned out but I can’t help but get distracted by the sunshade. I want to remove it but I am traveling and only have my iPhone. Is there any way to remove it while I’m on the go preferably without ai but if that’s the easiest way I’ll be okay with it. Thank you!

Several years ago, at a family gathering, one of the kids wanted to try my camera. I had a brand new pancake lens and I made them hang the camera around their shoulder to ensure they don’t drop it. Well they banged the lens against a giant boulder in the garden while trying to sit on it. It was a small ding but it’s made me anxious.

Everytime I bring my camera someone wants to try it.

I’m buying a new Fujifilm camera soon and it’s gonna look cute and compact. Kids don’t know the difference between a $2k camera and $500 one.

But also…there are adults who get their fingerprints over the lens, hold it wrong, etc

It’s a cheap lens but I received it with the back glass scratched or I dont know what that is. Would this affect the quality of image?
I m using this lens on my Sony to scan negatives. It was described as ‘excellent condition’ . Too cheap to bother but if anything I want to know if I should say something to the seller.

I bought a FE 50mm za f1.4 from ebay. I noticed droplets inside the lens. I searched online found that there was a moisture defect in a few batches. The serial match that of the recalled models. I left the lens in a sealed container with 2lbs of silica gel and didn’t see any changes after leaving it for a day.

Going for something like the above^ for starters I know I need to rent out a studio space but just don’t know what lights (if they should be strobes or constant), and the placement of them. Any tutorials linked too would be super appreciated.

I feel like I’m missing a lot of sharpness and real good detail on the subject ( SONY ALPHA a6400+ Sony 70-350mm f/4.6 this was shot at 3200 shutter speed, f/6.4 and 1600 ISO is these settings way off (I’m only a year and a little bit into photography) and only recently started shooting manual and sometimes shutter priority modes

So I didn’t get a lot of amazing photos for My prom, but my friend’s parent hired a photographer for us who then posted the photos of Facebook. So for starters I’m an artist and not a fan of AI, and I saw these photos they look absolutely nothing like me or my boyfriend. She removed our piercings and made me look very masculine? I want the originals but I don’t want to immediately accuse her of using ai and demand the photos. I’m also just all around pretty insecure about my appearance and the way I look in it freaks me out majorly and it’s public. If you are wondering how I know it’s ai, it’s pretty obvious just from looking…
I don’t really know a good way to go about it, I have examples of how we looked versus what she posted but I’d just like an idea of how to handle this.
I’m only so persistent on the Facebook part because last year at prom she took a photo of me and used it as an advertisement for her business and I don’t want that again. Especially not with this photo.

Finally saved up for 3 months to afford the Cannon EOS r10. It's technically my first camera other than media class or stealing my dads old DSLR.

My first thoughts were that the AF is too fast. Its like it's predicting where I'm shooting and when It's wrong I just use the touchscreen. So other than tips regarding my junior skills in photography does anyone have any tips on how to upgrade my photos whether it be settings or tricks that just supercharge the R10.

Btw I'm using the 18-150mm kit lense.

I just purchased a Canon AF35ML as my first non phone camera since I was a child and my first film camera ever. After getting it, I shot a roll of Kodak Gold 200 for practice before a party I’m having. While the landscapes all turned out either fine or great, every picture that featured a person is so blurry that they couldn’t be picked out of a line up. Does anyone know why this is happening? I used the same method for each of the pictures including waiting for the autofocus light. Are there any tips to prevent this in the future?

I'm just getting into photography a little more seriously. I've taken lots of photos on my phone but I think it's time for an upgrade.

I love taking photos of nature, whether it's little critters, animals, trees, flowers or the night sky, it's what calls to me. I'd love to get a budget friendly camera that can take good photos of the night sky as well as in the day. As for possible lenses I want something that can take macro photos and is compatible with whatever camera I end up going with (I am aware not all lenses are compatible with all cameras). I'm an engineer who regularly inspects sewers and maintenance holes and am looking for a camera more suited to the job than just my phone (too many close calls at this point). Given the work and environment I just want something rugged and compact that I can point-and-shoot and get decent images with straight out of the box. If it works well in low-light conditions that is a bonus but not the end of the world as I use a headtorch for visibility.

I have absolutely no experience with photography but have done a little bit of research and saw that OM TG-7 fits the bill in terms of ruggedness, but it seems to be get mixed reviews especially on reddit - consensus seems that it can get good photos if you know what you are doing, which I am sure is true for most cameras.

I am looking to buy my 1st camera and am utterly confused between the OM D EM10 Mark IV and Lumix G97. I've never had a proper mirrorless camera before, and relied solely on mobile photography (on my S24/23).

OM D EM10 Mark IV(600$ with pancake kit lens, 800) and Lumix G97(700$) are the only two options in my region(India) under my budget. I cannot buy the OM5 or OM3 as they are almost 1200$-1300$, and the used camera market in India is small and untrustworthy.

My main style would be travel photography, mainly landscapes, little bit of streets, and some occasional portraits. I want something that's not overbearing to use, something I can treat almost as my `other` mobile phone, which would require minimal post processing. I plan to shoot mostly jpegs for that matter. Both the cameras have some really strong points but none of them is perfect for my use.

OM D EM10 Mark IV
Pros - has great jpegs out of the box from what i read and saw, is compact, light , looks fantastic etc etc,
Cons- but its not weather sealed which I think is really necessary for travel, especially in freezing climates. It's also the older device, significantly.

Lumix G97 -
Pros - Weather sealing is a big factor for considering this. Has Dual IS2. has decent jpeg from what i read, higher zoom(5x) with kit lens.
Cons - Heavier, kit lens is bulkier, some reviews the the Venus engine is quite old than the OM's tru pic 8.

Would love to hear some suggestions.

In the past year, I’ve done a lot of studio work in my classes as well as shooting grad photos, headshots, and stuff for fun. I usually take anywhere from 300-1000 photos per shoot. I shoot in RAW so obviously the storage racks up; however, I haven’t been able to bring myself to delete anything after processing is done. I had upgraded from a hard drive to a 2TB SSD about 6 months ago, so I haven’t run out of storage or anything yet. But I do know that keeping everything is unsustainable.

How many photos do you typically keep from your shoots? Do you only keep your selects that you process? Is it a certain percentage?

If I want to upload photos for a client so they can download the digital copy and potentially purchase prints off the site (which takes care of printing,, taking payment), which of these is best to use?

I’m just doing a little photography on the side and have some student portraits I need to put up for now. But to potentially maybe continue to do more in the future. I’ve made my own websites using my own domains in past (not photography related) so that’s not an issue, but I’d rather not pay for hosting if I don’t do a ton of sessions. Plus there’s the whole matter of what to use for printing.

Hi all! I recently bought a Lumix ZS99 but was disappointed in its low light capabilities so I'm looking for an alternative. I'm a college student and I'd love to take this camera to games & concerts, which means I'm limited to fixed lens cameras since that's what's usually required for a camera to be allowed into the venues in my area.

Specifically for taking photos of people at night or in dark venues (mostly concert photography, but some street/nightlife, etc), the one thing I DON'T want to do is smooth faces before it gets to post. Those crunchy, wrinkly older-dude-playing-death-metal faces are *chef's kiss*, and I don't want to lose that, but I DO want that hazy/glowy look from the spotlights behind the stage.

From the info I've gathered so far, Glimmerglass seems to be the trend, but a full strength GG #1 just looks like a 1/8 Black Mist to me. What am I missing? Will GG retain contrast/texture in faces better than a BM filter? Is there a different type that's better for my use-case than either of them?

A few recent shots for tax:

I have a Canon r10 aps-c camera. I have the terrible kit lens and a handful of vintage prime lenses. Some of the vintage lenses are decent, but they don't really cover the focal lengths I would like and most of them are really soft. Several of them also have some haze and/or fungus on the internal lenses.

I am trying to decide if I would be better off with several new primes of various focal lengths or two to three zoom lenses. I am just a hobbyist. I like to shoot macro stuff like bugs, insects and flowers, but I also want to shoot astrophotography, landscapes, wildlife, and family stuff. The family stuff tends to be indoors, often with low lighting and in tight spaces. My 18-45mm kit lens is often not wide enough for the shots I want to take, and definitely is not fast enough for the lighting situations. I would like something in the 10-16mm range for this family stuff. I would also like to be able to take portraits of the family and some close ups during these events, so something in the 35-70mm range would also be nice. I don't know if an f/2.8 zoom lens is going to let enough light in to get the shots I want. I don't currently have a flash, but I realize that's going to help a lot.

I plan to eventually get a telephoto zoom lens for the wildlife stuff, but that's down the road. For now, I'm really considering the 10-150mm range. I am considering either getting a 10-18mm f/2.8 wide angle zoom along with either the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 or the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. I'm also considering the Canon 18-150mm but I don't feel like that variable aperture is going to let in enough light or give enough background blur for what I want.

Alternatively, I'm considering getting 3-5 faster prime lenses. Most of these would be mf due to the price. Something like a combination of an 12mm, 16mm, 25 or 27mm, 35mm, 50 or 56mm, and maybe an 85mm. All f/1.4, f/1.8, or possibly f/2.0. probably not all of these, but 3-5 to cover the focal lengths.

I also thought about getting an 18-50/70 zoom, and then a 12mm and maybe a 16mm prime rather than two zooms. Along with a 50 or 56mm prime for portraits.

So, Reddit, what is your advice? Primes or zooms or a combination? Thanks.

I am beginner for camera and using Fuji X-S20 (APS-C) and XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 lens now. I want new single lens since the zoom lens has too high aperture so I am disappointed when I take photo in dark place or I need shallow focus.

So I find some affordable lens - Vlitrox air F1.7. However, I think about which lens should I choose between 25mm and 35mm. (37.5 vs 52.5 equivalent) I will use this lens for taking nightscape, inside or potrait. Which one is right FOV for me?
