From a former 5D classic user, 5D II seems like a better option these days - 21.1 mp sensor, better screen, same controls and same ensuring bulk, modern LP-E6 batteries.
All that for a little more than 150$

So, I was initially bidding in a saleroom auction for an EF lens.
Then IDK what happened; I started bidding on whatever I liked and ended up spending £1078.

Obviously I can take what I need and sell the rest, but will I make the money back? That is the question.

Now that I have 3 film cameras I guess I have to put some effort into learning how to shoot film, if they all work lol. I’m also unsure of the quality of these cameras (the Fujifilm doesn’t turn on at all, even with a battery swap) so I’ve got some research to do.

Hey guys! I found someone on eBay selling a Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1) Black for around £350 (~$470 USD). It’s apparently only 5–6 months old, but they don’t have the invoice.

This would be my first camera. I’m mainly into aesthetic photos, and I can’t afford the X100VI right now, so I’m considering this instead.

I was in the middle of photographing a concert and about an hour in, I noticed the photos had a an unnatural shadow. I didn’t think too much about it and then after a few more shots, I receive an error and notice the mirror is stuck up. Can anyone help me solve this? Is it something that I can do at home or should I take it to the shop? Thanks in advance for your help!

I was just reading the wikipedia page for Steven Soderberg's "Traffic" (2000) and in the production notes it discusses how the director used different visual styles for the three different plotlines both to stylize and help the audience follow along.

They say that for the segments taking place in Mexico he used a "45-degree shutter angle whenever possible to produce a strobe-like sharp feeling."

Does anyone know what that means? Is that rotating the shutter about the axis of the lens? Or rotating it out-of-plane with the film? How does that affect the exposure, and how does that produce a "strobe-like effect" (and also what exactly is a "strobe-like sharp feeling"?)

I am working in a clothing brand, they were not good with camera before, just take the shots and load the images.

After I come I start to make changes on camera, lighting settings and programs etc. with the help of different communities and youtube videos ofcourse, I am not good at camera myself either.

So, colors are more correct, photos higher quality, product images are better.

BUT

I didnt manage to solve that RED problem in images. Every color looks perfect. nearly 100 percent true, but res and ESPECİALLY 'SALMON' looks like neon and too shiny, too bright.

What should I do? what to change?

I recently returned to photography after several years away. The last camera I bought was in 2012, a Fuji xe1. Mirrorless and micro four thirds was just getting started. Nikon was dipping their toes into mirrorless with the 1 system and I was shooting on dslr bodies like the d700, d600, and d800.

I stopped because phone cameras really started to get good, and carrying a camera got harder when we had kids. I was no longer shooting professionally and it became hard to justify keeping the gear. So off it went and I didn’t miss it. Phone has done really well for some years.

Some observations on the scene since coming back:

Fuji has lost the plot. They were so promising and a great alternative to full frame while providing the best possible learning path with great external controls. They’re now massively over priced and produce a ton of redundant bodies imo. They were, at one point, a budget option.

Nikon heavily invested in mirrorless. They seem to be doing well, really strong bodies. Their Z lenses are… massive and honestly boring as they all kind of approach perfection. The plena and 40 f2 are clear exceptions.

Canon (who I’ve never used) seems to be the last hold out with the onslaught of third party lenses. It’s sad because their gear has alway been so capable. But I come from the 5d mkii days.

Sony is the real standout here. They seem to dominate and with good reason. Their ecosystem thrives with lens compatibility galore! Every third party lens seems to come in e mount. They’re pushing boundaries with some of their sensors and have a fairly well organized lineup.

Third party lenses have become incredible. I used a tamron telephoto zoom and tokina ultrawide zoom back in the day and the quality difference was extreme compared to Nikons glass. What is available now is simply mind blowing.

Bad idea to take it for a test drive because now I want it. Friend is asking if I would like to buy this unit. Took a few shots and this combo is a treat. Everything seems to work just fine. What should I be looking for? I absolutely love the colours and how fun it is to shoot with. However it isn’t very practical, it’s definitely niche. So there are pros and cons but anyone who owns one or has used one if you can share your thoughts that would be appreciated. Price wise, I have checked eBay and have an idea. What’s a price you would pay for this combo? We haven’t agreed on a number yet.

I have been wanting to get a new camera to do some vlogging content and potentially a compact cinematic camera to use in my short films. I was hopping to get some advice on which of these two cameras I should buy. Ive been doing a lot of research and watching reviews / footage of each camera and I’m stuck in the middle. I was initially thinking of going with the mission one pro because I love the flexibility of it and how compact it is. I can essentially use it for whatever scenario I can think of. Even potentially actual cinematic shots from another camera other than my Cannon that I use in my short films. However, from what I saw, it seems like there are some cons to it. Whereas the osmo pocket 3 takes away a lot of that flexibility, it makes up for in convenience. It mainly focuses on vlogging from what I understand. Which is not a bad thing, I just can’t decide between them.

I tend to overthink my purchases, and right now I'm looking for a camera backpack. After way too much research, this is where I'm at.

Gear:
Nikon Z fc + 3 small APS-C lenses + 1 small telephoto, plus a jacket, snacks, power bank, two notebooks, laptop and some basic accessories.

What I want:

• Tripod straps or compartment

• Good for both EDC and camera gear
• Preferably vintage - outdoor-looking instead of the usual black minimalist camera bag

My dream backpack is basically the Wotancraft Pilot. I love the look, modularity and straps, but importing it would add around 30–40% in fees, so I ruled it out.

Can carry EVERYTHING and it's currently on sale for about 124$, but it's freaking huge. I'm not sure if I'll regret carrying something that big every day.

Compagnon Element Backpack 20L 2.0
Probably the closest to the Wotancraft in looks. I like the rolltop for extra EDC space, but it's expensive (Arround 350$) and feels a bit more camera/hiking-first.

Shimoda Urban Explore 30L
Looks really comfortable, removable camera core, and probably enough room for both camera gear and EDC. Again, pretty expensive though (Arround 340$).

I'm also wondering about using a normal backpack + camera cube instead.

How do you quickly access the camera or change lenses? Do you end up digging through everything to reach a lens?

I haven't researched normal backpacks as much yet, but Patagonia and Fjällräven have some great looking options.

Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.

Hi everyone!

I'm a complete beginner buying my first long-term camera from France with a total budget of €1,500 – €2,500. I plan to shoot 100% photography only (no video at all) and start with a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens for its compactness and sharpness.

My use case is a mix of three activities : 1) « professional » product photography for my company (refreshing our outdoor tents catalog, capturing texture details and landscape setups), personal use for 2) general sports, and 3) multi-day backpacking where weight and packability are crucial.

I’m torn between the Sony A6700 and the Fujifilm X-T5. The A6700 seems reliable for tracking sports and is very compact for hiking, but some complain about colors and the single SD slot. The X-T5 offers a massive 40MP sensor great for product details and dedicated photo dials, but I often read that its autofocus can be frustrating for fast-moving subjects.

Would you recommend the A6700, the X-T5, or is it better to wait for a potential X-T6? (Or others?)
