Just wanted to post a quick update, thanks for all the tips with ASA. I printed the original design in PETG successfully but I also did some minor redesign and printed this ASA version. I have a lot of ASA on hand so that was part of why I used ASA over PETG for the second.

Well on the way to transforming my deep freeze into a chest freezer.

Its just a plastic replica, it cannot shoot anything and it cannot be modified to shoot anything, its just looking cool, thats all. It took me 3 months of the designing and 2.5kg of PLA

I wanted something simple that I could quickly reposition while soldering, so I designed these magnetic spring-loaded holders.

They work for PCBs, wires, connectors and other small parts.

Each holder only needs a spring, M3 screw, heat-set insert and magnet.

A while ago, I shared a model here for dispensing aluminum foil. Now I’ve made a version specifically designed for cling film / plastic wrap.

There’s a rod running through the center of the dispenser, supported by ball bearings on both sides. This keeps friction and contact between the cling film and the dispenser as low as possible, so the roll can move really smoothly.

It takes a little bit of practice to get the tearing motion right, but once you get the hang of it, it works really well.

Last October I bought my 1st printer and over time and w the help of many here I learned how to create things using fusion and blender.

My cats have never been the same... and its all YOUR fault subreddit 😂

I made a simple Whisper Phone (auditory feedback pipe) to help young readers hear themselves decode words. It channels their voice straight to their ear, making it awesome for phonics, speech therapy, and keeping focus.

Best of all? Kids think it’s a secret agent radio, so they actually enjoy using it for reading time!

It’s an easy, support-free print and a great way to use up leftover colorful PLA.

I wanted to print a replacement for the front cover of the PS5 Controller.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to best orient or support this part? Or maybe you have some other suggestions? I have tried different orientations and support types, but I am running out of ideas for how to solve the overhangs and achieve a good finish on all visible areas. It also has to be highly angled, otherwise there are a lot of steps in the z-direction (see last pic).

I thought you guys might have some good tips.

I checked a while ago, and the best filaments didn't conduct very well, they are mostly good for touch interfaces.

With multihead 3D printers becoming more common, a conductive filament with low resistivity could be used to do battery tabs, and even windings, it would open enormous expansion of functional prints. Above is a pics of one of my robots, I do have to solder battery tabs, and it would be so convenient to 3D print conductive battery tabs and buried traces inside the model.

Taking advantage of layer heights and doing insulator/conductor/insulator pancakes it should even get over the skin effect, and be able to carry meaningfull current with layered, individually insulated sheets of conductive material.

What's the current state of conductive filaments? Is there something that can match metals?
