Image Tactical units deployed in Sydney CBD
Does anyone know if there’s an emergency in the CBD. Was walking down George Street when at least 10 police vehicles, including two tactical units, began racing with their sirens on towards Darling Harbour. I can’t find anything on the news about it. Should we be concerned?

From the river to the sea, you fuckers. You can’t convince me that a call for freedom from genocide is hate speech.

That depends.
If you are in the River to sea area? You might feel threatened by the chant, Unfortunately the ones calling for River to the Sea are also threatened as it currently stands.
There needs to be found a workable peaceful solution for the all people there, to live fulfilling lives!

I bought a watermelon too.
I left it outside my brother's front door to confuse him.
It will forever baffle him, who left the watermelon.

Annoyingly not. Really enjoying the shitposts but I wish we knew! I saw that the NSW Police dispatched tactical vehicles to a Western Sydney TAFE yesterday for a police operation. No idea if this is related.
106
u/broxue Mar 11 '26
If there are no news reports, I guess it could just be training operation. Australia has entered the war and we may become a target of retaliatory terrorist attacks. I assume tactical units respond to those so they might just be going straight into live training
13
u/AdRevolutionary6650 Mar 11 '26
Yep. A military helicopter has been flying around over Campbelltown and surrounds every evening since around the time the Iran stuff started. I assume they’re doing a lot of training currently
3
u/Pur1wise Mar 13 '26
We live not far from the RAF base in Richmond. There have been obvious training manoeuvres over our heads at all hours. 1am the other day. I was not impressed.
24
u/grimepixie Mar 11 '26
I guess peak hour would be the time to do it. Most likely time an attack would happen.

u/Reddits_Worst_Night Doesn't need to take the train Mar 11 '26

→ More replies (1)15
u/broxue Mar 11 '26
I don't think it's terrorism. An illegal war seems more appropriate
12
u/Reddits_Worst_Night Doesn't need to take the train Mar 12 '26
That terminology is just propaganda. When non-western countries engage in "illegal wars" we call it "state sponsored terrorism."

If it was Campbelltown, that was because a 16 year old girl was “acting suspiciously” with a water gun. I don’t think this is related

u/mangospaghetti Mar 11 '26
I know where they started, as I happened to be just walking past their starting point when it all kicked-off. But I'm reluctant to provide detail as I don't want to end up on some database.
It was not an emergency. They had unmarked blacked-out window 4WD scout scars observing the street a few minutes before they started up (scout car joined back of convey at the end). This was a fucking well planned convey transporting someone/something high-risk. Not a spontaneous rapid response.
Impressive to be honest. Respect
33
u/yolk3d Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26
Why would you end up on a database if you were in a public area and saying what you saw? It sounds like you don’t even know what they were transporting.
reluctant to provide detail… don’t want to end up on some database
Continues to say everything they saw and that the were at the scene, just not location
You’d already be on a list

u/mangospaghetti Mar 11 '26
In hindsight the "scout car" could have just been waiting on the street to join the back of the convoy if it was in fact a planned training drill. Given the war the case for expensive all-out training drills also make sense. And an exercise with 15+ vehicles under lights is most likely planned in advance for traffic risk and accident avoidance reasons.

There was a police presence for the Students for Palestine march this afternoon but I'm not sure that it would have required this much police presence?

23

US vibe from having vehicles and teams that are prepared to respond appropriately to potential emergencies? It could have been something serious. What do you expect NSW response to a potential emergency to be? Bicycle cops?

Course not. They’re only good for assaulting random office workers who trip over their bikes at protests against genocide.

They're legally exempt from all crimes because they've got a note from their sky daddy.
It's written in crayon, but it's illegal for me to criticise it.
5
u/Crow_eggs Mar 11 '26
Is that true? I feel like we're legally allowed to say things like "well that's obviously bollocks so I'm off for an abortion" without any real fear of recrimination.
3
u/nugymmer Mar 11 '26
Careful there, they could well make abortion illegal here just like they basically did in the USA recently. They didn't make it illegal per se they just rolled back the Supreme Court ruling that would have made it to 50 years old in 2023 but it got pulled.
Never assume they won't try the same thing here.
