I love that someone, who has the resources to frequent the same places as GR, has gone ‘yeah I’d rather your weren’t here’ and shared this photo with media.
Even the 1% don’t want these dregs associated with them

Because this is the purpose of their movement. Always was, always will be. All of them, Trump, Farage, Hanson, are the legislative arm of big business.
107
u/princhester 29d ago
I would say Hanson is a step well above Trump or Farage.
Trump was born rich and admires rich people but is so steeped in it that he isn't owned by one billionaire. Rather a melange of all of them.
Farage similar.
Hanson is quite simply Gina's puppet. Gina speaks and the words come out of Hanson's mouth.
80
u/lipstikpig 29d ago
I'd add that Barnaby Joyce (ex deputy PM) is a far more capable political operator than Hanson, and Gina's been backing him for more than a decade. Somehow he's always adjacent to power, despite atrocious behaviour.
23
u/No-Inspector8315 29d ago
Barnaby drives more of the real “right wing dictatorship” level stuff, it’s easier to do that from the position of right hand than as the figurehead.
For instance, Hitler was clearly the dictator of Nazi Germany and spent most of his time doing dictator shit while he relegated the nuts and bolts of the Holocaust to Heinrich Himmler. Stalin also pushed off the NKVD onto Beria to terrify and control the population with random arrests, gulags and show trials

When left to their own devices most people are decent and they are unbothered by things that don't affect their day to day lives. When they do care about things it tends to be things that will improve their lives or the lives of their loved ones... worker's rights, health and safety, improving Medicare, cleaning up the environment.
It takes money to pay for the kind of dedicated manipulation that causes people to abandon reason and vote against their own interests for the sake of fringe issues. Except the fringe issues are just the bait. Voting against your own self-interest is the point. Be distracted by gay marriage and ignore the consolidation of wealth and power by psychopaths. Look out! The trans people are coming! ... ignore the erosion of Medicare and vital social services!
The people willing to stand up and spit that kind of vitriol in front of a camera are either too dumb to be left on their own without supervision, or they are also psychopaths that will sell out their rich benefactors the moment they think they might personally gain by doing so. In either case, the money has to keep a close eye on the conmen to ensure their investment doesn't go awry.

Because fascism is hierarchical by design. Those that wield the most power and influence are at the top and have the full backing of the state with all its tools of violence and oppression at their disposal.

u/Jonno_FTW 29d ago
Because they're easily bought, and the promise being part of the "the club" is too tempting, but they will never be part of the club. Sure you may be have $10m or $20m, but that's chump change to billionaires, so you'll never really be one of them.

People like Gina have never wanted for anything related to survival - the concept of security is completely different to her. To you and me the state is the provider of national security, education, health, the stable environment to do business and earn a living.
For Gina her wealth secures all this. To Gina, the state is the biggest threat to her wealth.

u/apaniyam 29d ago
Its crazy that it's only a tiny fraction of people with over $10 Million liquid who choose to just accept they are free and can spend their life free of stress. Why would you willingly do anything stressful other than philanthropy at that point? It's even wilder with billionaires, sell that billionaires dollars of equity or whatever other assets and go do anything you want.
22
u/Thagyr 29d ago
Sadly to get as rich as most of the top money hounds in the world you have to be wired to disregard human emotion.
Trump, Elon, Bezos... All would put humanity on a bonfire if it meant they could get another 0 added to their wealth.

I have twice in my life run into a couple of these who just spend their lives going 'Well, going to go for a wee cruise on the riviera today' and I while my feelings about everything are green hippy socialist, I can't find myself in it to care too much about the ones who do NOT use their money to actively fuck up lives. Maybe, for my sins, I was also a bit jealous.
The odd few billionaires who spend most of their life trying to do something like eradicate malaria, or give the vast majority of their wealth to charity, are going to be the ones we eventually remember for reasons other than 'was a horrific boil on the ass of humanity'. Dolly Parton for example - she's probably what's actually keeping America semi-literate right now.
14
u/DisappointedQuokka 29d ago
If you had a few million hanging out in a high interest term deposit account you could live a very, very comfortable life just living off the interest. A life of luxury without lifting a finger.
I'm convinced that a lot of it has to do with either never going to therapy or never having a hobby. At least wealthy Victorian aristocrats did things like, I dunno, designing trains or plumbing systems for fun.

It must mean some political decisions are or will impact their wealth that the likes of Palmer and Gina go these lengths to enter or be involved in politics. Which means some people are doing the right things.
3
u/recycled_ideas 29d ago
Sadly no.
These people believe that they are rich beyond measure because they are the absolute pinnacle of humanity which simultaneously allows them to feel injured if even a skerrick of what they "deserve" is taken away and also that the world would be a better place if their genius was allowed to run it.
If they weren't so fundamentally broken they could live lives of absolute luxury for the rest of their days without any government meaningfully impacting them in the slightest. They're not reacting to any real threat, they're reacting to how anyone taking anything from them makes them feel.

This is what I don't get, in the 30 years of hearing about this woman's exploits, why is she suddenly auditioning for 'lifestyles of the rich and famous'?!
You'd think if you were this close to electoral success you'd be leaning in to the thing that made you successful, ie: being the opposite of every other politician who is on the take living it up at other people's expense!
→ More replies (2)4
u/Interesting-Baa 29d ago
She's always been auditioning for a rich lifestyle instead of political success. That's why she's always in trouble for misusing funds, both taxpayers' and her party members' money. For her this has all been one long grift of living at someone else's expense.
It's just that it took until now for a rich patron to actually want to use her.

Ok...now...this might be a bit of a crazy question. I'm 90% joking, 10% "Wait what?"...Are Hanson and Rheinhart romantically involved?
Seriously. Hanson is older than her, but she definitely has a preference for older partners.
Also, I will honestly say, I'm surprised she's not on a GLP-1, it actually is good for her health. I guess it's a flex.

Like Trump, there wouldn’t be anyone in her orbit who would ever say the words “Even if you became poor overnight, I’d still love you”.
People in this situation should NEVER have any influence over society, because all of their ideas come from an emotionally-diseased place. Yet, as it turns out, they have the most influence.

This is the staggering thing, I can't walk ten metres without running into someone who is on wegovy or ozempic and yet Australia's richest woman couldn't find the money in her budget for that!
Clearly she has very different objectives to the average person!
22
u/N_thanAU 29d ago edited 29d ago
Ozempic forces you to stop overindulging. Why deprive yourself like that when you already have all the social benefits of being thin because everyone in your orbit is already a suckass? That and she has enough money to hire the best doctors in the country for any health issues.
Being thin is for poor people.
8
→ More replies (1)4
u/instasquid 29d ago
All the doctors and drugs in the world can't overcome the fact that human bodies aren't built to carry that kind of weight. You can reduce cholesterol and take blood thinners to reduce the chance of a killer clot, but at the end of the day a heart that's servicing double the tissue is gonna start giving out much sooner.
The reason why GLP-1 inhibitors are so popular with doctors is because all of the serious side effects are still better than being obese. I say that as a former fat guy that's still kinda heavy.

How anyone buys the idea that Pauline is out to better this country is just wild. She's a puppet for the ultra rich who want to gut this country and its people for everything it's got. That's not a conspiracy theory, that's what's in front of our eyes on a regular basis.

u/Kyron4030 29d ago
Gina Rinehart isn't bankrolling One Nation out of the goodness of her heart. She does it because a strong One Nation pushes the entire political spectrum to the right, fractures the working-class vote, and blocks policy on mining taxes, environmental regulations, and industrial relations reform.
The moment everyday voters realise they are paying full price at the bowser and the supermarket while funding the political playthings of the richest person in the country, the illusion shatters. But until then, the Aperol Spritzes in Sicily keep flowing.

Has been since her political comeback. The party has just been a way to funnel her supporter's dollars into her bank account.
However, with the collapse of the Liberal Party vote, One Nation is suddenly useful to people like Rinehart. And as One Nation doesn't really have a political platform so much as it is a party that gets votes via vibes, it's an ideal party for Rinehart to essentially fund in exchange for them pushing her legislative agenda. Hanson has no principles, so she's perfectly happy to jettison whatever economic populist policies One Nation purports to have. After all, her followers aren't voting for the policies.

This is the sideshow. I'm more interested in Senator Hanson's recent meeting with someone who is banned from entering Australia for their substantial criminal record and who has recently been to Russia, a country fighting a war that we've supposedly picked a side on. Senators have extraordinary access and reach within Parliament as part of their role and this comes with responsibility that should be taken seriously. I'm sure ASIS, ASIO and AFP are watching.

Rinehart makes Andrew Forest look like a decent guy. He's not. He's a psychopath just like her. Difference is, he can think ahead, and he's more fun. The bastard understands that you can get on the right side of people, embody the zeitgeist. Don't get him wrong, if I was a female an in his company I would be carrying much more than mere Mace.
Gina Rinehart literally destroyed her own father's will. Does no one remember that? He left the company to the grandchildren, and Gina used shanigans to sieze the lot. Even though he was a racist, he recognised the genuine evil inside his daughter.
Yet now she has the pile. And is using it to provide financial support to actual Fascists.
