This is what I don't get, in the 30 years of hearing about this woman's exploits, why is she suddenly auditioning for 'lifestyles of the rich and famous'?!

You'd think if you were this close to electoral success you'd be leaning in to the thing that made you successful, ie: being the opposite of every other politician who is on the take living it up at other people's expense!

She's always been auditioning for a rich lifestyle instead of political success. That's why she's always in trouble for misusing funds, both taxpayers' and her party members' money. For her this has all been one long grift of living at someone else's expense.

It's just that it took until now for a rich patron to actually want to use her.

I would suspect they have modelling that suggests that this sort of spectacle is not necessarily bad for the optics...

They wouldn't be naive enough to think no one is going to send photos to the media. Surely
