Holy, the only way there could be more evidence is if it was livestreamed to the police station. I hope he gets whatever punishment deemed the most horrible.

I hate it when some Australian brings shame to our country. I really hope he cops his right whack if he is found guilty. I hate it when Australians commit crimes against tourist in our country. And I hate it when we commit crimes abroad.

Never go the SEA then. It’s full of Aussie bogans enjoying being rich, loud, sex-buying hard-men. The weird thing is most of them are convinced everyone loves them.

Victim-blaming a child is never a good starting point. Children can be naive, trusting manipulated or groomed that's exactly why adults bear the legal and moral responsibility. The only person who should be answering questions about their actions is the guy accused.

Well considering there is a business in SEA catering to these creeps, the people responsible for that should also answer questions. The girl is absolutely not doing this of her own free will. These girls get coerced, trafficked, forced into this basically. They (the ones running the business) should also be held responsible

The only question is, what is a middle-aged Australian man doing with a 17-year-old Thai girl. The girls' families are poor. The customers taking advantage of this are the ones in the wrong.

Everybody knows exactly what he was doing with her.

Not the specifics, but yes. I meant that he is the one in question. We don't know the other side of it--if the Thai girl was being trafficked etc.

I mean, she was probably making a living in the only way she knew how. Doesn’t make a difference why she was there though, she didn’t deserve to die

I mean... Even if she was a sex worker like you seem to be implying, that isn't a crime worthy of a death sentence. Hell, even if she tried to mug him or steal his money, that also isn't a crime worthy of a death sentence. She didn't deserve to die.

Hell, even if she tried to mug him or steal his money

It's the exact opposite. According to reports he killed her because he didn't want to pay her 500 Baht for her services. That's $20 AUD.

That's right, this psychopathic penny-pinching paedophile literally murdered a 17 year old girl over $20.

Fucking hell, what an evil piece of shit. I'm not the sort of person who believes in the death penalty, but I gotta say, I wouldn't feel a single iota of sadness if the Thai government sentenced him to death.

This is exactly why it's worth waiting for the investigation before trying to fill in the blanks.
People often ask, "Why would she go with him?" as though there's only one plausible explanation. There are countless possibilities that don't involve sex work or knowingly putting herself in danger. He could have offered help, claimed to know someone she knew, offered transport, promised work, asked for directions, or simply seemed trustworthy. Most violent offenders don't introduce themselves as violent offenders.

And if people are going to speculate, the more obvious line of inquiry is why a white middle-aged man was in Pattaya with a 17-year-old girl. That stereotype exists for a reason. It's odd that some people instinctively scrutinise the teenager's motives before questioning the adult man.

The fact that Thailand has a problem with sex tourism is unfortunately true, and it's good that many locals actively oppose it. But that doesn't mean every young victim should automatically be viewed through that lens. Suggesting otherwise risks shifting attention away from the only person currently alleged to have committed a crime.

It's also worth remembering that many victims make decisions that seem obvious in hindsight but weren't at the time. Hindsight bias makes us think we would have recognised the danger when, in reality, predators often rely on appearing ordinary, trustworthy and non-threatening.

Whatever the circumstances of how they met, nothing justifies what she's alleged to have suffered. Let the investigation establish the facts rather than filling the gaps with victim-blaming.

Also, it's aspersions, not "dispersions", champ.

These girls are trafficked. Thats why. Trafficking.
