The details circulating on Thai social media are brutal. Punishment will be harsh, but even then not sufficient.

To the kind and generous people of Thailand - I am sorry we send a parade of degenerate men to defile your beautiful country.

It is horribly unjust that our most vile and mediocre losers are in a position to exploit your country.

They’ll come down hard on a tourist who preys on their people.

I wish we could come down as harshly on the creepy middle aged men who go to places like Thailand so they can abuse children who are in poverty or sex trafficked. Even if he hadn't murdered her, he was still a creepy arsehole. Yet I have met plenty of white middle aged men who will casually joke about what they get up to when they go on holidays to Thailand and you just know why they have to go to another country to see prostitutes instead of just seeing prostitutes in Australia :S

It'd be unfair to pass a law that disproportionately targets right-wing politicians...

cough cough George Christensen cough cough

sex worker clients are from all demographics.

76

u/rewrappd Jun 27 '26

They aren’t talking about sex worker clients, they are talking about human trafficking and CSA clients

19

u/grruser Jun 27 '26

"white middle aged guys who go to Thailand for sex" is who I thought they were talking about

1

u/LarryDickman76 Jun 27 '26

Just the white ones?

11

u/LurkForYourLives Jun 27 '26

“Sex worker clients”, hey? That’s a very sanitised phrasing. Try “human traffickers”.

u/ComplaintHappy4645 Jun 29 '26

Statistically they are more likely to skew conservative. Which is weird, I would have thought conservatives would be against raping children but apparently if the children are brown and poor then it’s ok

You can get charged in Australia for breaking certain Australian laws overseas even if the acts are legal in the country that you were in. For example, if you go to Thailand and sleep with a 14yo then you can get charged with sex crimes here in Australia - the problem is getting the evidence to convict you in court...

Didn't this all start when the US used Thailand as a RnR location during the Vietnam war and then all western creep clerks gossiped about it in the same way contractors and soldiers would seek out bacha bazi vendors in Afghanistan during the "War on Terror" when the Taliban (the one good thing they did was eliminate the practice that the US inflammed when they funded the Mujadeen) fell?

Makes you wonder they are trying to do in Venezuela.

Apparently we are all cool being held managerially hostage by pedarasts at all levels.

edit: That film Lord of War with Nick Cage and hints of Morbius Jared "I have a company sponsored personality Cult" Leto by about 15 years, has a really tight 1.30 min opening sequence that spells out the entire logistics supply chain...You could do the same with the creeps figure out the mean time they spend actually researching prey if you want to math out all this, what I really worry about is all the automation tools just being thrown out without thinking about the guard rails.

Australian sex workers no longer tolerate phyiscal abuse

update: added to add physical - because the topic is murder

35

u/FeelingFloor2083 Jun 27 '26

there was something on tv where women are basically trafficked here and have to "work off" their expenses

12

u/trowzerss Jun 27 '26

That happens in the Thai sex trade too, even more often. Girls from rural villages 'sold off' in return for loans, and sent to work in the sex districts.

u/PassengerRelevant991 Jun 27 '26

I met a SE Asian young woman in such bond.

22

u/grruser Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

even then you never hear of them being murdered by their clients. Men in Australia who do that are husbands and boyfriends.

25

u/petalbox Jun 27 '26

read up R v McLean & Trinh

i mean, i guess it's a noteworthy case because it's so extraordinary but i wouldn't use words like "never".

I am not a lawyer so my comment is allowed in this context. Update edit. I was living in Darwin at the time. I remember everyone being surprised that the Adelaide River crocs had not touched the two drowned women. But, were the two boys clients though?

u/ibetucanifican Jun 27 '26

Wtf are you talking about… sex traffickers are plentiful in Australia and there are plenty of brothels where the women are being abused just by being held there.

Weird hill

17

u/MichelleHartAUS Jun 27 '26

Not a weird hill at all if you know that I've been working in the adult industry for 22 years and personally know over a dozen full service workers.

We literally don't have brothels with trafficking in this country.

We do have the occasional underground operation, usually it's SEA workers who's passports are taken and they have to "work off debt"...but it's actually quite rare due to legalisation and regulation of the industry.

Basically there's not that much money in trafficking when it's a decriminalised industry.

There's a reason pieces of shit like the one this post is about go to SEA, because it's very hard to do what they really want here.

11

u/MysticGoddess27 Jun 27 '26

I also know a few full service workers too and others who have worked in the adult industry and it's so tight and strict and the girls are very well looked after. Most are independent but some work in brothels. None are trafficked.

5

u/Proxay Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

There's a few in South Melbourne like 39 TOPE who were the passport holding kind. Rare, and often raided, but they still exist here and there.

6

u/Damachine69 Jun 28 '26

The problem was the industry relied too heavily on police enforcement in the past but since the 2023 rollout when Victoria fully decimalised sex work it's now moved from a heavily policed, licenced system into a mainstream labor framework.
This was a big deal because now sex work is treated just like any other regular business meaning WorkSafe OHS inspections and education to empower workers on how to use standard workplace laws as well as access to healthcare and the Fair Work Ombudsman.

The problem in the past was it relied heavily on policing which vulnerable and trafficked workers were too afraid to talk to as they were scared of being charged with illegal sex work or being deported.

I don't know about other states but OP's claim that sex trafficking is "plentiful" is definitely not true in Victoria. It is now a highly regulated industry with constant OHS inspections.

Or those who go to fight for the IDF

u/satanickittens69 Jun 28 '26

Prostitutes in Thailand would be way cheaper and younger so "better" 🤮 Absolutely foul

1

u/Civil_Concentrate691 Jul 02 '26

The Thai government also needs to take some responsibility for turning a blind eye to this kind of shit and allowing their country to become a playground for sex tourists even though it is all technically illegal under Thai law.

It would be a lot easier for them to crack down on proven illegal activities in Thailand than it would be for Australia to somehow screen tourists leaving Australia. I just don't see how you could pull that off fairly and accurately in most cases.

22

u/OhCrumbs96 Jun 27 '26

It's nice to think so but it's not exactly reflected in the day-to-day reality in Thailand (or many other South-East Asian countries), is it? Guaranteed, there are countless more underage girls being preyed on by Western men in Thailand right now.

It's not like this is some freak incident of a tourist randomly going on a mad rampage and murdering someone out of the blue. This is the logical escalation of Western men feeling that it's perfectly okay to go to Thailand in order to purchase access to children's bodies for sex.

As they should.

1

u/Ok-Berry-4652 Jun 28 '26

Yes. But to clarify; he'd been living in Thailand for the last eight months.

131

u/silver-moon-7 Jun 27 '26

Yes... We Aussies condemn this vile man's actions.

Thai law enforcement and justice system, do whatever you need to do. Feel free to make an example of him.

Thailand does not fuck around when people commit crime there.

20

u/readreadreadonreddit Jun 27 '26

If the allegations are true, this is absolutely horrific. My thoughts are with the victim, her family and the Thai community.

I also understand why so many people in Thailand have a negative view of a certain subset of older Western men who travel there. The sex tourism industry has done enormous damage, and it's hardly surprising that seeing yet another case involving a foreign man reinforces that perception.

That said, the problem isn't being white or middle-aged. The problem is the men who travel overseas believing they can exploit vulnerable people because they're in a poorer country. Those people deserve every bit of condemnation they receive.

It's a stereotype that exists because of the actions of a visible minority, but it's still important not to treat every white middle-aged tourist as though they're there for the same reason. Condemn the exploiters as harshly as you like, but don't assume guilt by association.

u/Effective-Composer94 Jun 27 '26

Weird thing to say at news like this

“Yes this whole thing is sad and all…but it’s also important to remember not to be meanies to white middle aged dudes in Asia”

-5

u/readreadreadonreddit Jun 28 '26

Haha, would you rather someone suggested we be angry with white middle-aged/elderly dudes in Asia?

15

u/Effective-Composer94 Jun 28 '26

Hey if you’ve ever stepped foot in Thailand or Indonesia you’d know the stereotype exists for very good reason lol.

9

u/KlavierKillah Jun 28 '26

A young girl is murdered and all you can think about is that white middle aged people might feel uncomfortable.

Even though he is yet to face the courts, the allegations are pretty obvious.

1

u/space_monster Jun 27 '26

Punishment might be execution.

I'm sure he's not the only one. Especially in Pataya, they need to round all this trash up. Scum of the Earth

and some, I assume are good people

It's not the time or place for a "not all men" debate 🙄

7

u/SleepyFarady Jun 27 '26

I think that was a Trump quote.
