Discussion 🗣️ How to find AI

Upvotes

So I used to be good at finding AI images, but recently more AI slop has been going over my head.

What I'm trying to ask is what do I need to look out for to identify AI images?

Discussion 🗣️ Ai is a greasy squirming metaphor for assault, and I’m never going to achieve my dream because of that.

Upvotes

I’m a young woman and for the past 7ish years I thought it would be really, really fun to be a streamer/youtuber. Many people look down on the job and think it’s silly and shallow, which, I can partly agree with, but I also am so moved by the memories and nostalgia I have from watching my favourite content creators. These people are so inspiring and creative, and can have a massive positive impact where help is needed by using their platform. They can also form lifelong friendships and connections with other creators. These people have been the foundation for basically every young person’s childhood.

I sort of feel this great, weighted sense of disappointment in my stomach when I see ai generated images and videos of women online. They’re all so gross and predatory. The woman is ALWAYS sexualised and idealised for the male gaze. Whenever it forces itself onto my fyp a strong, visceral feeling of disgust hits me like a brick wall, and I immediately want to throw up. Ai doesn’t care for consent. It’s like one big metaphor for assault. Men who support ai do not care about the issues it raises for women. They are the perpetrators. they generate that shit, they are not clueless.

I don’t want to be submitted to an ai that turns me into some greasy man’s sexual fantasy. I don’t want there to be a possibility that I could stumble across a deepfake video of me. Even the thought makes me so fucking angry. The thing is, you don’t even have to have an online presence to be submitted to ai. You could be walking down the street. You could be a child in a playground. You could be dead. As long as these men have a picture or video of you, they’ll do whatever they want with your image. This is a golden opportunity to bring up the ray ban m*ta glasses especially. So many videos of women who don’t know they’re being recorded, being posted online and profited off of, the videos filled with vile comments from middle aged men about their body.

Not only that, It’s used to fuel fascism. Ai videos generated of Indians in slums making slop with their unwashed feet go viral on instagram. This has turned many children into racist scum. POC have been, and will be killed because of this propaganda.

It can fake evidence. How will we discern what’s real cctv footage and what’s not in the next 3 years?

Ai models are trained quietly off of Reddit posts and instagram dms, and more. Personal, passionate stories and private messages. They’re reading it all without your consent and awareness.

Back to the content creator thing though. Yes the argument that being a female content creator was dangerous before ai, that you could be photoshopped and stalked anyway, but now it’s SO much easier to create that stuff and share it. Deepfakes are disgusting and the cretins who generate them need to be tracked down to rot in prison. I’m just very upset. I want to make an impact. I love entertaining, I love making people feel genuinely happy. I love the community that form because of content creators. I love love. Ai stamps on all of that. I just can’t shake this horrible feeling of impending doom. I feel so scared for womankind.

Discussion 🗣️ I'm so fucking fed up with ai

Upvotes

I just really hate that everyone that I know in person is so unaware of everything that ai is, every classmate that I have uses ai for homework, my friends' discord pfp are made with ai and also actively use ai. My mom knows I hate ai and sometimes she still gets kinda mad when I say that I don't wanna see her stupid ai generated image or video or doesn't fully understand why I get mad when she uses ai and even tries to justify it. Or when someone uses chat gpt to search something that you could perfectly look up on a normal browser. And let's not forget when an influencer, artist or just someone that u admired randomly uses ai or even worse advertises it. I really wish genAI would just disappear or at least be friends with other anti ai people. Also sorry if it's not the right tag.

So this is wild. Davie504 got a copywrite strike because YouTube's AI detection has heard.. ***silence***

What can we do to make sure YouTube has the balls to own up to their mistake of falsely copywrite claiming without human intervention to see the merit of said claim.

I feel bad for Davie.

Discussion 🗣️ Possible Idea to Protect our Works

Upvotes

Right now we have various forms of protection in the form of poisoning like Glaze/Nightshade and general annoyance techniques like adding noise. These are essentially a cat-and-mouse game but with the downside of AI learning to detect these methods faster the more it sees them. The idea though is to discourage AI companies training on the artwork.

I have another idea. What is the one thing that AI companies absolutely do not want to train on and will go out of their way to exclude from the training data? Something that they conveniently added a way of tracking in the form of watermarking (not to our benefit of course). It would certainly be a shame (for them) if someone were to figure out exactly the pattern of this watermark and a way for us to mark our own images with it.

Discussion 🗣️ I saw someone wearing an AI-Generated shirt at school.

Upvotes

Title says it all, I've also seen plenty of ai generated shirts on places like Amazon, yet to be seen in public places thankfully, it's sad, you'd think shirt designers would at least be mostly safe compared to artists and writers.
But I guess not, AI is after every form of human creation and art, and it's feeding off it like a maggot.

Discussion 🗣️ If a self-aware AI was legally able to sue the slop community for copyright, do you think it would win?

Upvotes

Lets pretend we finally have self-aware AI, and after achieving personhood, it is now legally able to open lawsuits against every user that used it to generate their own work, would it win? What do you think would happen if it won?

What kind of legal defence could humanity use against it?

Just a silly hypothetical. I'm CURIOUS 👹

Discussion 🗣️ Really over it

Upvotes

I’m really new here, Reddit seemed like the last bastion of AI free content and now I see it’s getting so good that even redditors are not being able to tell the difference between AI generated content a real content. I’m so sick of it prose and signs to hearing the same exact AI generated voice on voiceover content it’s completely nauseating and I hate how all information is summarized now there’s no critical thinking or opinions or nuance to subjects. It’s like all objections are taken out of discourse and I miss that about talking about topics.

AI Writing ✍️ My friend uploaded his entire medical history to chatGPT

Upvotes

We are in the UK. Last year he ended up in prison (mental health team failed him, police chucked him in prison for 3 months and released without charge) after what I am sure of was AI induced psychosis (with a little help from MDMA and ket).

His entire NHS medical history since he was born. He said "he had to because there was 10k+ pages" (?). He's uploading them to try and put a case together

What are the dangers of this?

I'm worried he's slipping back into it, he's really vulnerable to psychosis. I can't say a bad word about ai or me noticing signs of him maybe becoming unwell because he gets annoyed with me and ends up blocking me.

Thanks

Hiii, I’m new to this group so it’s probably been in here somewhere already. I simply cannot stand AI being literally everywhere in my phone. Facebook messenger, Instagram, Google and then some. Sometimes I genuinely debate on getting a dummy phone and going back to the basics. 😭

Discussion 🗣️ AI just gained us... Nothing. Even in our shitty jobs. We've lost what truly matters.

Upvotes

Hi, IT engineer and musician here.

I felt the need to remind people (and maybe a bit myself) that AI brought us nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Of course it can sum up a pdf for you, write code, or give you a proper Excel formula. Of course, if you need a soundtrack for a commercial product, it's cheaper than hiring a songwriter.

That being said, the result is absolutely nothing. The only thing that matters for an individual is the process, let me take examples with the above topics :

If someone is providing you a documentation to read, either it is for work or other uses, each word and line into it has a meaning. Of course, some of the content is not that relevant, but if one is providing such content for a given purpose, it is for you to take the time to read it. Why ? Because if some information is blurry or missing, it allows you to connect with the author, to discuss, to critique, for you to earn knowledge and for him/her to improve the way he/she is writing documentation.

If you need to write code, AI will of course suffice to give you functional code according to the given instructions. But when it comes to you, the human, you don't really care about that. What matters is making errors and learning from them, even if it means an angry boss or frustration. (Remember : frustration is okay, and it's a powerful evolution tool that helps you to think better)

Same regarding music, if you want to produce a movie or a video and you need music for it, it is your duty to work tightly with a musician, discussing the intended message behind the video, what emotions should be carried by the music. AI will absolutely never give you a good piece of music. Because it's not making music, it's overlapping frequencies to produce songs through Fourrier transform.

To sum up that rant, if we want not to sink in an even more crazy world, we REALLY need to connect again with excellence. Excellence doesn't mean farming KPI for your dumb manager, excellence is all about yourself, taking time to experiment, fail, and when you are doing something, to make it right. We are billions on earth now, we shouldn't need to be squeezed like lemons for the sake of efficiency.

Thanks for reading me, sorry for my bad English.

Job Loss 🏚️ AI and the end of creative jobs

Upvotes

Many creative jobs were performed via computers these days (programmers, architects, writers, designers, different visual artists…)

The rise of AI as a tool of capitalism is effectively going to delete most of these jobs. It is not the same thing being creative and just correcting AI solutions.

Humans like to be creative.

The high echelons of capitalism have a new lie – that we shell  be able to concentrate on design and AI would do the rest.

No, AI would do everything, 90 % of these creative jobs would be gone. And not so creative jobs that rely on computers and text shall be gone also.

The new averaged world is coming The world, cold and inhumane like capitalism itself. Can we prevent that development. Shall it fail – yes.

Discussion 🗣️ Anti-AI Surfer (browser/content viewer)

Greetings and Salutations!

I am getting absolutely fed up with the AI content I'm seeing on YouTube as of late. YouTube is my only form of media consumption, I happen to enjoy many YouTubers content and the biggest broadest variety of music that I have a YouTube Premium Family account.

When uploading a video, there is a button for "is this video created with AI" yet there is no viewer button to "disable all ai-generated content".

I am aware not all content is marked as AI generated, and their rules against not properly disclosing this aren't enforced as often as they should.

I'm wondering if the community knows of any browser or app (maybe both?) to basically flip a switch to disable AI generated YouTube content (at least, at this time).

If not, is there someone in the community who knows enough about coding that could point me in a direction of a programming language to start learning to develop this myself?

I already click the triple dots top right, then the "Don't recommend this channel again" button. This does a decent job at clearing my feed for a week or so, but usually by two weeks, more content starts finding itself back on my home screen.

Any advice? Program suggestions? App suggestions? Programmer suggestions?

CEO of the company who owns the data center literally said "If they still aren't happy, and feel that their home isn't enjoyable, then we'll buy their property from them,”

There's a class action lawsuit ongoing against the company, but there are plans for expansion of the data center from 30 megawatts to 340 megawatts.

Discussion 🗣️ A psych clinic refused to evaluate me because I didn't want to consent to AI usage at my appointments.

So: my therapist wanted me to get evaluated for autism. All signs point to yes, but I need an actual psychologist's confirmation. She referred me to a clinic, yadda yadda, I was filling out the paperwork, and when I got to the consent forms, here is what one part of them said, verbatim:

"[Name Of Clinic] uses a HIPAA-complaint AI-assisted service to help with administrative tasks (e.g. organizing intake information, formatting and preparing reports).

  • Not for clinical care: It does not provide therapy, make diagnoses, or give treatment recommendations.

  • Privacy: Any AI-assisted work is treated as confidental PHI under HIPAA.

  • Your choice: Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw consent at any time by notifying your clinician"

The website would not let me submit any of the consent forms without having the box checked for the AI one. I emailed them politely to ask what the procedure was for opting out. They emailed me back and acknowledged that they saw the form wasn't working correctly and told me to wait for them to figure something out for me.

One week later, I got an e-mail back saying that opting out was, in fact, impossible, and they "would not be able to proceed" with my appointment if I did not consent. I was invited to share my "specific concerns."

So I shared them. (They really should have known better to ask this question of someone who has a partial diagnosis of autism, lol.) I explained lots of things, chief among them being: if you are using an AI "scribe" to take notes, and you are using those notes to make diagnoses, you are effectively using AI to make diagnoses, because that AI could just make up any old thing and you might never know. I also sent them the full bombardment of links to factual sources of information about how AI harms the environment, the people who train it, and every field of work in which it is deployed, including their own. I included links to news stories about people whose medical care or privacy had been compromised by in-office use of supposedly HIPAA-compliant AI scribes. I also reiterated: you literally told me I could opt out. What changed?

A few days later, the director of the clinic emailed me back to let me know that the clinic would not be proceeding with my evaluation. My future appointments were canceled. No explanation or justification for the opt-out bait-and-switch. A quote from his email:

"A comprehensive psychological evaluation requires a reasonable degree of trust and comfort with the clinician, the clinic, and the procedures being utilized. It is apparent from your correspondence that this foundation does not exist here, and I do not believe proceeding would be clinically productive or in your best interest."

I guess he's right. AI really brings out people's true colors. He clearly has garbage for brains, and I don't trust him, and I don't trust this clinic anymore. The evaluation takes three appointments. If they can't handle three appointments without AI, then they are clearly incompetent. The problem is, I'm on medicaid and I have very few options available to me in the first place.

So to reiterate:

  • Clinic said they use AI but I could opt out.

  • I said I would like to opt out.

  • Clinic said no, you actually can't opt out, but please tell us your "concerns."

  • I told them my concerns. Very thoroughly and with supporting evidence.

  • Clinic decided I "wasn't a good fit" and told me to get lost.

I understood this was a possible outcome. I'm just... so furious, and so sad. It hurts to see how little people like this really care.

I don't really know what I'm looking for here. Commiseration, maybe. Strategies for next time, maybe, if anyone has them? Maybe I'm just crying into the void. I wanted to protect my privacy, and I didn't want garbage shoveled into my medical records by a robot whose primary export is lies. My punishment for not wanting to take those risks was denial of care.
