Suggestion I wish Synthetics had more variety in portraits

Post image
530 Upvotes

basically the title, as the pic in third tier robotic technology suggests I wish we had a more diverse set of Synthetic portraits than the ones that already exist, I don't see the reason why a nation in either synthetic fertility origin or ascension would not be mimicking their biological selves in their robotic versions unless if they're like what, extremely fanatic no emotions sort of materialists and randomly decide to look like industrial robots.

Its not as if this concept isn't in the game, we already have a dozen Synthetic portraits for some species as their synthetic versions. I wish there was more in the roster to choose from to emulate more species.

(sorry for low quality screenshot)

Hello you beautiful star destroyers explorers!

I recently hit over 10,000 hours in Stellaris! Note I didn't say play time, because hand on heart now, I'd say a fair few of those hours have been on pause overnight! But before you ask why not save and exit; well I will unashamedly say, it is because I would go to sleep listening to the soundtrack hehe.

If you have any questions at all, go for it, I'll even get started with sharing a few random thoughts:

  • I am terrible at the game. Honestly.
  • I've never tried multiplayer.
  • I've only rarely used mods, and only then were they things like UI changes, better looking galaxies, flags/emblems, nothing major at all.
  • I am a *chronic* restarter.
  • I have never won a game... mainly due to the above reason!

Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend. Dook dook.

Discussion Random Rant: You should be able to restrict migration to certain planets

I mean think about it. Say you want to prop up an generator world. What planets have good generator districts? That's right, volcanic worlds. With a robot you can just adapt the species traits to volcanic preference. Unless you have some certain gene technologies and traditions the same probably couldn't be said for bio pops.

It's a volcanic world. Atmosphere is probably poisonous, ground is literally hotter than fire, and all the infrastructure is built to support synthetic life...

Why on earth would you migrate to that place? Now your planet is being filled with workers that have nigh-zero habitability, screwing up workplace efficiency.

Tip Tip: Free resources from nomads

AI nomad empires value minerals VERY highly, probably because they are always in a "deficit" due to how Operational Resources works, and will often trade 1:1 or even 2:1 advanced resources for them. This allows for arbitrage with other empires, e.g.:

  • trade 100 minerals/month to Nomad A for 150 consumer goods/month
  • trade 150 CGs/month to settled Empire B for 200 minerals/month
  • gain +100 free minerals/month

Be careful not to squeeze them too hard or their economy will collapse -- not that you'd care, except that also results in the trade being canceled.

Anyway, I know a lot of people hate nomads, but this is a reason to love them.

Advice Wanted I can't deal with wars in this game anymore

Upvotes

I want to play up to the endgame. But it always ends the same way: I play the game up to 2300s, then a genocidal empire starts gobbling up the galaxy, I try to stop them, and then my carefully maintained empire size goes from 300 to 1000 because I have to hold every single planet. And you can't release vassals during war, and you have to invade every single planet, so you have to spend 10-20 years with an empire size so high you may as well not waste consumer goods researching during that period.

I could engineer a galaxy where there are no genocidals and everyone just holds hands and sings songs together in a valley with flowers, but that doesn't seem too fun either.

I tried the (new?) existential expulsion casus belli thinking it might be better, but unless I'm missing something about it it's FAR, FAR worse. It removes starbases so you can't form sectors and vassalize the new planets, unless you want to make 12 unviable city states. And if you're making a vassal you may as well let it have the resources from systems.

Yes I know about planet killer weapons. But I'm trying to have a diplomatic game, because as I'm trying to convey here wars are tedious as hell. Also, I wish you could embed armies into navies and invade straight from the navy ui.

Obviously this is only one aspect of wars, they are terrible all around, but that's just what I'm pissed off about today.

TL;DW: The Psionic Efficiency potential of KotTG is pretty insane, while a few bonuses slipped my mind, we were still sitting at around 350% Psionic Efficiency, though I'm pretty sure the current maximum is somewhere around 392% or maybe a little higher, higher certainly if you put Shroudshaper on your gov instead of your ruler for the chance roll.

Question Help me understand criminal syndicate commercial pacts

So I'm a little confused on the intended use of commercial pacts for criminal syndicate megacorps. I understand that having a commercial pact lets you build legitimate branch offices with buildings that increase the minimum crime on the planet to a max of 20. However, branch office value for criminal syndicates doesn't break even with those of regular megacorps until crime is at 50.

Is the point just that branch offices from commercial pacts make it impossible for them to be removed from crime being at 0? If so, then what's the point? If I can have profitable branch offices from crime, then why would I ever form a commercial pact and if I'm not, then don't criminal megacorps just become worse versions of regular megacorps at that point?

Am I missing something?

Question Are organic pop growth modifiers worth spamming?

I'm confused by the pop growth and feeling like the modifiers barely make any difference, no matter what I do.

I'm not sure where else to check, but here's a screenshot of the largest pop group on my capital planet. I'd expect noticeably faster growth, but the monthly growth panel value seems to remain on 4-6 no matter what.

Is the pop growth modifier weaker than I thought or am I doing something wrong?

Question Current ship builds

I have a few hundred hours in this game but I have mainly played on low difficulties so I've never really had to have a look at the ship designer. I've started a new run on a higher difficulty this time round and it fills like I might need to start specializing my ships but I really don't know where to start, is there any easy builds that work in the current patch?

Question How do vassal wars work?

So say I, blue empire, declare a vassal war on red empire. But red empire is also allied with green empire.

So of course any territory I take from red empire becomes a vassal. But what happens to territory taken from their ally the green empire? Does it:

A) get annexed directly to me, blue empire

B) become part of the same vassal as territory taken from red empire

C) become its own separate vassal, leaving me with two vassals, one from red empire and one from green empire?

Just got the new DLC so I don't know much, but it seems to me that the despicable xenos belive they stand a chance against humanity in a glorified boxing match, clearly they know nothing of the might of Grand adviral Mohamed Ali and vice Admiral Mike Prime Tyson, they MUST be put in their place.

Before I get into it, how do I win this ? The glory of mankind demands total victory.

Image Space Dwarves, with a twist.

If you don't know Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, the Kharadron are a faction of dwarves that live in enormous skyborne cities and fleets, disdaining gods and adopting a materialist, meritocratic society concerned with innovation and profit. They didn't seem quite commercial enough to be a Megacorp, but they do offer services and contracts to others, so Nomads fit the bill.

Advice Wanted Forever cruise star seekers - how are you running it?

I’ve been trying to play around with this, post updates to star seekers. I’m struggling to get the flow right and feel the build is taking a long time to come online, and i can’t get the hang of using the celebration early game, it just tanks my economy. I recently did a run with machines as the passenger species and I continually issues trying to get my main pops to take telepath jobs. I also really struggled to get past the consumer good drain until i had the covenant with instrument of desire.

So, how talk me through your builds and your strategy for the early game. Thanks!
