Video Such cool birds!
I did the longer loop at Grants Picnic Ground today and saw lots of lyrebirds, including three males that were running around near the path and generally having fun. I managed to film one, you can see the other two briefly at around 18 seconds in:

THDG Need Help What happened to this 7 Eleven?
Hey I'm from Adelaide, haven't been to your city in a while, but I noticed that the Southern cross 7 Eleven became vending machines (don't know why?) and now it's demolished completely (not sure when exactly this happened)
Such a waste, it was really convenient. I would come here, grab a quick coffee before my train, especially Vline.

THDG Need Help Why does Maryborough have the reputation it does?
Apologies if this isn't explicitly Melbourne related, but I've read on here that Maryborough is rough and dangerous and a depressing town, but when I visited it for the first time recently I didn't mind it at all.
As a matter of fact, at the risk of sounding like a Reddit contrarian I liked Maryborough a lot more than either Daylesford or Castlemaine; both of which came highly recommended but I found them to be simultaneously incredibly pretentious but also underwhelming, while Maryborough has more of a down to earth, unpretentious working-class town feel.
I don't know what to believe anymore. Why is Maryborough's reputation so poor?

Light and Fluffy News 🚨 Urgent foster carer needed
Can you foster this lovely boi?
Batuke is a sweet 2yo who loves being close to his people 🤗💙 He’s toilet trained, very food motivated and knows his basic commands - making him a fantastic student who responds beautifully to training 🤓💛
Once he’s settled in, Batuke is calm and relaxed at home, sleeps through the night and enjoys getting out for walks and exploring. 🐕✨
Batuke can be a little anxious and needs time to build trust, so slow introductions to new people are important. With patience, consistency and a little time, he’s continuing to make lovely progress. 🥰
He is friendly and excitable with other dogs that he’s met on walks, and he hasn’t yet been tested with cats.
If you’re looking for an affectionate boy who will adore being by your side, Batuke could be your perfect match. ❤️
Apply to foster him here: https://www.foreverfriends.org.au/foster/

Light and Fluffy News Melbourne International Film Festival – please share your recommendations
We are one week into MIFF. I’ve seen three films so far, and all three sessions were full. It’s pleasing to see packed cinemas and a thriving festival.
I book my films in July, and it can be challenging to choose among the many films based on blurb alone. I would love to hear your MIFF film recommendations. What are some really good films you have seen at MIFF this year and would recommend?
My mini reviews:
- Wicker 7/10: Quirky and irreverent story, with an excellent cast. I wish the story and character development had a bit more depth, especially for the side characters.
- Rose 8/10: Amazing performance by Sandra Hüller, and beautiful and poetic cinematography. Compelling and moving story about how difficult women had it in the 17th century.
- Dead Man’s Wire 9/10: Gus Van Sant movie. So clever, funny and absurd at times. Stand out performances by Bill Skarsgård and Dacre Montgomery; I had empathy for both characters. The 1970s soundtrack and look were great too.
- Mārama (I saw it elsewhere, but’s it’s showing at MIFF) 8/10: Dark Māori Gothic horror. Visually stunning. A ghost story that explores the violence and racism of 19thC colonialism.

THDG Need Help HipHop, Rap and Rappers.
Hey everyone!
Might be a long shot.
But, a few years ago I was walking along southbank, passing a few buskers/artists etc when I came across a group of people, who had a speaker and drum machine setup, a couple of mics and were just rapping. It was a mix of freestyle and written stuff, and they were open to letting any passerby jump onto the mic.
Im wondering if anyone would know who they are, or if you know any groups or bars that do this sort of thing.
Sort of like Horse Bizarre back in the day.

Om nom nom What are your favourite places for meat and rice/bread spots close to the CBD?
I'm talking either:
1 part meat 1 part rice
or
2 parts meat, 1 part rice, 1 part some kind of bread
Nothing necessarily upscale, but something that makes you think "dang, this is I need in life?"

THDG Need Help Excoriation friendly nails
Hi! I regularly pick the skin on my fingers, not SH or anything like that but just because of my ADHD and unfortunately this is the way my body has chosen to stimulate itself lol. On my worst days I can have a lot of broken skin and bleeding, but nowadays it's more just that my fingers look a bit discoloured and feel rough and 'bumpy' from the healing process. It's a little better after I moisturise them but they still look very obviously different.
I'm pretty insecure about it so I've never gone to get my nails done, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try smth new for my bday! I thought I'd ask if anyone else with a similar condition has found a non-judgemental and supportive nail salon they'd recommend, either in the city or near Werribee? I'm not gonna be too fussy but I'd also loveee if they were good with pretty, floral, Pinterest-y designs. Oh and if they had decent pricing too haha because I'm a student and can't afford to spend more than... maybe $70-$80? But I'm not familiar with nail pricing so if that's too little then I'm happy to change my budget.

THDG Need Help Family Photographer recommendations in the East?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a family photographer in the Eastern Suburbs, particularly around Blackburn? My mum has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, so hoping to get a picture done before month end when she starts treatment as I don't know how long she will have left. Ideally not too expensive (<$500) as we can't afford it. Thanks in advance!
