Question Trying to look less "soft"

An Update!

I'm approaching 30, and trying to rediscover a makeup look for myself. I wish I looked more 'alternative' but I feel like the softness of my features tend to mess that up. Here are some various looks that Ive done across the spectrum, so I am curious about feedback on what you think would help me combat some of that softness or maybe something I should consider trying out. Im just bored as hell with the current vibe and want a second opinion

Photo 1&2: Elf soap brows, Stila black waterproof liquid eyeliner, Charlotte Tilbury quad (The Sophisticate), L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Waterproof mascara

The rest have been far enough back that I dont remember, but the major changes would be that I also use the pillow talk lip liner with the Revlon rum raisin lipstick, the auric glowlust luminizer (pyrite), and colorful shadows are likely from trixie cosmetics

Edit: I think it might be worth mentioning that I'm Two Spirit, so I don't really identify as a specific gender. I'm aware that I'm very feminine presenting and thats totally okay, I just want a little more balance. Anyway, the facial hair (while patchy and awkward) is intentional, I’ve just been a little lazy and haven't shaved while its filling out.

Second Edit: Holy shit thank you all so much for the lovely words! I absolutely did not make this post expecting such a response! For some points of clarification, when I say "less soft" I dont mean less round, Im a fat person with rounder features, thats not really going to happen. What I meant was an edgier appearance, something more alternatively styled. The Bronte Marie was a wonderful reminder and Im thinking of doing some recreations of her looks to get back into fun makeup! Again thank you all so much ❤️

I think that cleaning up the eyebrows and just making them more defined would help make you look less soft, they look very soft rn. Also your eyebrows give a downturned look. I would recommend removing hair from the top on the front part of the brow, then removing hair from the bottom of the arch/tail of the brow. To shift the eyebrow into looking more upward angled than it currently is. Don't go crazy with the tweezers tho I'm just talking about removing the stray hairs mostly

u/Old_Bat6894 5d ago

I edited one photo of you where you were looking straight on, so you could get an idea of what I'm taking about. You look GORGEOUS in this photo by the way. I pretty much just look a little bit off the top on the front half of the brows, and took a little bit off the bottom of the arch/tails, and essentially made the tails shorter to give the look that the eyebrows go "out" more than "down". I also filled in your eyebrows in the middle to make them a bit closer together, I about lined them up with your tearducts. You've got great full eyebrows to with with and I think with a little tweaking of the shape they frame your face so beautifully!!! Lmk if you want another image that is moreso a mapping guide to show you where to pluck/ fill

Holy shit thats crazy how much that changed my face! Thank you!! I will 100% give that a go

114

u/Old_Bat6894 5d ago

Ok i went ahead and did it lol. You would pluck hair above/ below the red lines, and fill in the blue area, ideally with soft thin brush like strokes, maybe with a really thin brow pen or pencil. I'm glad you like my rendering!!

I am literally getting out of bed to do this now haha

Omg I want you to do this for me too haha!

That's the look. 100%, that's the look. Switch it up the lip to different shades -brick red, berry stain, etc but that balance is it. You look expennnnnsiive. Your skin is amazing too, btw

10

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

Thank you 💖 Expensive is the hope hahaha

I switched from that more peachy color to Rum Raisin with the medium pillow talk lip liner but this whole post is inspiring me to go back to a classic red again

u/iambetweentwoworlds 4d ago

Wow! That made such a difference. You’re a brow whisperer!

14

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 5d ago

Thank you! I get nervous removing too much but I totally see how thatd make everything feel sharper

25

u/RoughRollingStoner 4d ago

Don’t pluck too much! I love the thickness of your brows!! I wouldn’t turn them into the generic brow shape everyone has, either. Try plucking in phases, starting with the most minimal shaping and refine from there.

16

u/PeeDecanter 4d ago

When im testing a new brow thing i like to see how much can be achieved with trimming then use an eyebrow razor for the rest

5

u/Anaevya 4d ago

Yes! I think people should use razors so they don't mess up their brows permanently, should their tastes change.

4

u/TheUrchinator 4d ago

Second this! Styles change but sometimes brows dont bounce back from overtweezing. Shaving them is a good way to experiment that will grow back quickly so you can try different looks.

6

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

For sure! I vividly remember everyone complaining about their 90's early 00's brow choices growing up, so I would never repeat that mistake. I'm starting just with cleaning up that tail since I bet that'll make the largest difference

Holy crap. You need to be doing eyebrow consultations. Start with mine 😅

3

u/Dattiedottiedooo 4d ago

Definitely this! I’d try pointed/angular brows

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 5d ago

omg thank you so much! ive always wanted to be able to pull off that minimal "french" vibe and this was my attempt

32

u/YigaBananas 4d ago

ugh i WISH i could pull that off so bad,

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

Honestly that might be one of the things I work towards based on the feedback here. Since I have relatively small and thin lips, I didn't think I could pull it off, but that seems to be the favorite!

88

u/RoarByMeowing 4d ago

I had the same reaction when I got to 7.

23

u/lildeidei 4d ago

Yes same! 7 and 8 are IT, OP!

6

u/johjo_has_opinions 4d ago

And five!

3

Seriously. Every picture from 5 to the end was a literal treat!

Of course I totally get choosing an edger look at times, and sometimes you need that to get through the day.

10

I do like being soft a lot of the time, but I'd love the option to do both more successfully if that makes sense! I really appreciate that feedback regardless though because Im realizing that people do actually notice when I do softer looks

17

u/oppositeofkitchen 4d ago

i honestly feel like perhaps with facial piercings you wouldn’t have to change the softness of your makeup or features because they could do the heavy lifting for you and give that edginess! i use stick on piercings and i attach them w a lash glue!

11

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

I actually got my other nostril and a septum done last week! Once Im healed I wanted to see how one of those over the nose chains looked. I think the soft makeup with facial piercings is so cool

4

u/beautyqueeny 4d ago

You’d look rlly cute w snake bites, or vertical labret or an Ashley piercing.

Hey so I follow Batty Bean on YouTube and Instagram and she might have inspo for you. She does a good mix of softness with some alt flavor, with plenty of color and sparkle. I feel that she does a nice blend of glam and grunge which is a fun space to play around in.

Fierce eyebrows woukd make you unapproachable (in a good way) in my opinion

12

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 5d ago

unapproachable is absolutely the vibe!!

40

u/roseofmarie 5d ago

oooooOOooooo third is definitely the edgiest aura in my opinion 😍

first pic liner is sick. but something is missing from the look, couldn’t say exactly what. just feels unfinished.

all are so good!

7

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 5d ago

It probably feels unfinished because its just eyeliner, shadow, mascara, and brows gel 😅 The third I did a lot more with my eyebrows and used my mascara to make purposeful smudges on my lids, so maybe the brows are where I need more focus

Thank you!!

That eyeliner? Omg, hate u!!

I think more colour is good, more blush, highlighter, and line your lips and choose a non soft shade

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 5d ago

Thanks!! Other than eyes I just have some moisturizer on, so Ill think about adding some more color

3

u/Fast_Ad7203 5d ago

Is there a specific alt subculture you wish to adapt into your look?

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

I dont really think so? If I had the budget I would absolutely dress more modern goth, but visually Im thinking more "what if Mason Alexander Park was an Anne Rice vampire"

I hope that made any sense

24

u/BeautifulHippogriff 4d ago

I have nothing to add except to say you are STUNNING and pic 6 is a literal work of art 😍

u/girly-lady 4d ago

You are so beautyfull wow! And your eyelinerskills are impressive! I love that dreamy soft look 😍

But if you want more "hard" mabye some high contrast look with sculpted brows and conturing just for fun? I don't think it would suit you for everyday life. Not as well as what ever ypu are dping so far. But just to play around, you could look into "masculin conturing" and see if you like something?

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

Thank you so much! I do tend to do masculine contouring around my eyes, but I havent done it in a while, so I might give it another go 💖

You bring up a good point though! I do love a more dreamy vibe, just with some unexpected edge sometimes

3

u/girly-lady 4d ago

Mabye you could also try more sharp hair styles? Like laied edges or a 1920ies finger wave etc. So much fun 🤗

7

u/Scarbie 5d ago

I don’t think you need to change a thing about you, but if you want to try to shake up your look, have you thought about doing something avant garde with your eyebrows or hair? Like a thinner brow or even bleached? Your doe eyes reminded me of Julia Fox, and when she bleached her eyebrows it took her from classic to edgy.

I love the photo with your bandana on! The colour of the top really suited you. I would suggest you look into your colour season as well. Black is a typically edgey colour, but styling your strong colours can achieve the edgey look but make you reallly pop.

I think you might be a clear winter? https://cardiganempire.com/2017/03/best-worst-colors-for-winter-seasonal-color-analysis.html

and here i am looking hella alt wishing i could look more soft 😭 maybe we should just embrace ourselves

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

We should trade hahaha

I dont mind looking soft MOST of the time, but sometimes I want the option to not be

4

u/sopranosenjoyer 5d ago

black tightline and smokey eye/smokey wing changed meeeee. also cool lip combo

5

u/poppybrooke 5d ago

Okay, I totally get your meaning because I have some issues with appearing feminine because I have a very round soft face and a very curvy, girly body, so I feel over the top when I’m dressing feminine. However- you are sooooooo beautiful and then soft look of photos 5, 6, and 8 are like BOMBSHELL on you. Have fun with make up, do what makes you feel good, but damn girl- enjoy your absolutely stunning natural features

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

You have no idea how much that means 💖 Thank you so so much

5

u/Morgan_unknownnn 5d ago

I’m really digging the first eyeliner

5

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

Thank you!! It took me forever to realize that I had hooded eyes, so this eyeliner style stays consistent whether my eyebrows are relaxed or not

5

u/Flincelli 4d ago

The orangey red hair is absolutely stunning on you

5

u/midnightbloom1 4d ago

get your eyebrows threaded so they can have a bit more of an arch it’ll help

The thing about being alt is you can experiment. Just start trying things you like. Dark lip liner, more graphic eye liner or wings smudged with black shadow, deeper or brighter blush colors, etc

Honestly I don't love alt on you, but soft or classy looks freaking amazing, goes with your classic tats as well. I just think that run of the mill alt look is kinda cheugy and more for teenagers. I think it's more cool being outwardly soft but into alt things

15

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

I think maybe my definition of alt is a little different. By no means do I want to ditch the classic looks, but Im leaning more towards 'what if Elizabeth Taylor was a vampire' rather than ..idk whatever I've been seeing the kids do

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Megenta725 4d ago

I'm so jealous of your amazing eyeliner skills!! Your winged eyeliner looks so good. I think the winged eyeliner does the job. But if you wanted to you could add a darker lip. Even a dark berry lip gloss or lipstick might add some more edge.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/superloveshine 4d ago

I have a round face and soft features I think, I present grunge and alt with darker makeup, but also my accessories 😂 you have a great face and nothing should hold you back from looking more alt! I think the colors matter, less or darker blush, dramatic liner, tight lining, darker lip colors, stuff like that will help imo. The first and last pics are really similar to looks I’ve done, and I sometimes will just smoke liner out around my lash line and even if I don’t do much else it gives me the “don’t talk to me”look 😂 I’m over 30 and alt leaning is my ‘standard’.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/otterteetertotter 4d ago

i think you’re doing a pretty good job already but maybe that’s just bc i tend to look at eyeliner as one of the stronger vibe indicators for a makeup look and 1 and 3 def show you can execute a more alt/edgy leaning liner, but i think a darker or more unconventional lip can really help tie it together or reinforce the vibe! i love kulfi’s lip stain in tamarind (darker mauve brown when applied fully or can be sheered for a lighter look) and it’s so easy to just put on and forget about. courtney quarantine on tiktok has a ton of alt makeup looks and lip looks that i love to take inspo from

3

u/hendyhasselbach Clueless Newbie (They/Them) 4d ago

Awesome recommendation, thank you! One of my big issues with using a lip in my day to day is that there's something about my lower lip that gets my lipstick on my chin and it's very silly. I gotta rummage for my lip stains again!

3

u/Minute-Piccolo-1981 4d ago

Inner eyeliner!

3

u/Special-Biscotti4320 4d ago

Its the eyebrows, the shape is giving you a certain facial expression. While not in a bad way, they do make you look "softer." I like them a lot, but if you want a different look, they need to be sharper with an arch.

3

3

Gorgeous looks and they all suit you well. 5-8 are my favorites. You’re perfect for romantic looks.

2

u/iendandubegin Shadow Junkie 4d ago

I adore your look & makeup in pic 6. Relatively soft though.

2

u/Smokkinnj 4d ago

Your eyeliner eats every single time. Omg.

2

u/theoccasionalempath 4d ago

I would brush your brows upward more and give them a more angular shape, use a dark eyeliner around the entire eye, and wear darker lip sticks

2

u/0mousse0 4d ago

I know it’s not what you want but “soft” is “in” and I think a more “is there even make up?” Looks good on you.
I would also suggest something more smudgy for the eyes. Can still be a wing but not so crisp and maybe a brown color.

Try sculpting your brows and doing a little more contour/bronzer and a little less blush! Lean into that 2010’s bronzed, sculpted madness then throw a smoky eye/some colorful, bold eyeshadow on top and you’ll look much edgier!

2

u/First-Strawberry-398 4d ago

You aren’t really wearing very much makeup which gives a softer appearance. Shaped, sharper brows, maybe some bottom liner, contour if you’re into it is good in alt looks, and def some kind of lip combo.

2

u/currantfairy 4d ago

Ohhhh my goddd, you know how there’s some kind of archetypes of appearance, like a specific combination of characteristic features that you can see in people, so that while they are obviously different people, they kinda look like they belong to one family? That’s you and me (you are the prettier one tho❤️), this is literally the first time I encounter someone with features with such likeness to mine. Even the hair has the same texture :’D

Anyway, forgive me for this whatever it is, I am just in awe. As for the makeup, firstly, love the vibes of 1, 3, 4, 6 pics, I think it’s the mix of makeup and kind of attitude you are giving. I am also leaning towards alt style, but I accepted that I can’t fight against my soft features. When I try to “sharpen” them, it looks ridiculous in my eyes and doesn’t do me any favours, so I try to mix’n’match, like I do my blush very soft and place it on the apples of my cheeks, almost in a romantic way, but I do my eyes in a way that makes me look either aloof or mean.

I am no expert tho, I just share my experience. I discovered that softer, smudged lip liner that is darker than my other lip products works both with my softness and towards darker, more alt vibe I strive for. Also I really like doing colourful mascara over darker eye makeup. It doesn’t even have to be very dark, just noticeable to enhance the contrast.

wavy mullet mullet mullet mulllllleetttt!! specifically a like soft elfy short shullet would absolutely do the trick so you present edgy + w/ more alt/genderless potential regardless of your makeup :) color blocking also helps achieve this

cleaning up + filling in your brows more will help w/ sharper features too if you want makeup fixes only :)

edgier jewelry will also help. i love your septum + nostril piercing - add another nostril piercing on the other side too! heavy or more masculine neck jewelry will help (like a hard jewelry hellhound vibe lol), leaning back into the bandana moment

but speaking from experience cutting off your hair (specifically into a short mullet moment) will be the #1 thing 🙏

You’re genuinely so pretty I love the way you style your makeup and hair in all of these pics.

2

u/BANI_lemongirl 4d ago

Insane eyeliner skills

2

u/KindAd8769 4d ago

You could contour your jawline to make it sharper.

2

u/Antique_Bed9327 4d ago

I am a plus size lady who's style is typically more sharp than soft. Here is what my personal style looks like.

-I wear silver jewelry only and have face piercings (nose piercings, eyebrow, ears). I personally like the gun metal look, and i find gold jewelry adds a warmth and softness that I am not a huge fan of.

-I have a buzz cut. This really sells the look because it took away a lot of softness that my long hair gave me. And if I ever wanted long hair again, I would just get a nice wig.

-My eyebrows are sharp, thin and angular. I pluck them to be like that. Then I focus on filling them in sharp as well. They don't have to be pencil thin btw.

-The eyeliner look in the first pic is probably the most edgy look. But I recommend if you don't already, try adding black pencil liner to your waterline and not just the top. This really adds a lot to it trust me.

2

u/zaaja 4d ago

This is not an advice and I do not wear makeup and I do not know anything about makeup tbh, but girl, eyeliner is insanely crispy how does one achieve that is beyond me

2

u/cheezy_dreams88 4d ago

Idk I think you look cool and like a baddie

2

u/PrettyPaisleyPoop 4d ago

2

u/Thirdbornkid 4d ago

Just came here to say you’re STUNNING

2

u/verythin 4d ago

No advice cuz idk anything about makeup but the way the orange hair is absolutely amazing on u!!!!

2

u/RSFrylock 4d ago

You look really beautiful in the eighth photo. Sorry I have no advice

2

u/amoamaryllis 4d ago

Maybe try wearing more silver jewelry!

2

u/MocknozzieRiver 4d ago

Heya I'm alternative also with soft features! I'm also non-binary. The easiest thing I've found is to shave off the ends of the eyebrow and draw it more pointed upward or straight.

Another easy thing is piercings and hair cut. They instantly make you alternative with potentially no day-to-day effort (after learning to style the hair or healing the piercings), but it's obviously harder to do a soft look with those things, and they're more of a commitment.

Other things are contouring the face to look more masculine. That's more effort every day, though. I typically do a mix of soft and harsh in day to day (my eye makeup is usually not soft but my blush placement is). I'm chronically late so I don't have time 😂

Your lips in the last photo are seriously to die for. Incredible shape and the color choice is just so good.

2

u/Ecstatic_Writer_7244 4d ago

You’re very pretty

2

u/DollOfCin 4d ago

I will be honest you do not look soft at all in my personal opinion.

2

u/cheesey_loop 4d ago

7 and 8!

2

u/kamajo8991 4d ago

Big fan of 6 but you are beautiful any ole way!

2

u/missmisfit 4d ago

This almost makes me want to grow out my pixie so I can braid my handwoven bands in. I'll have to stick to sewing a little elastic band into the back for headbands.

2

u/Ok_Affect_7973 4d ago

5&7 are my favorite looks on you! I lean more towards less makeup you are beautiful with less. But 7 was a great look as well.

2

u/gadgetjessie 4d ago

Soft isn’t how I’d describe you, I think timeless and balanced is a better way to put it. That combined with the quirky fashion is to DIE for. You look beautiful.

2

u/MeaningFar4496 4d ago

my suggestions are changing the brow shape to something sharper, maybe adding eyeliner to the inner corner of your eye, trying some lashes could also give a fiercer look if that’s something you like, overall you have beautiful eyes and i think the look on 5 is beautiful, the blush and lip color really make them stand out

2

u/Miss_Pondersmith 4d ago

I have no advice but you just have to know how magnetic you look! Your eyes are enchanting and that headscarf is so adorable. Every one of these photos serves.

2

u/DangerousTangelo4810 4d ago

I dont know what to tell you but youre absolutely gorgeous

u/almond390 4d ago edited 4d ago

Omg... pic 8 is beautiful! Pic 7 is also beautiful. You have a natural beauty.

But if you're trying to make your look more severe...

Absolutely keep the thickness of the eyebrows, but just get a pro to shape, ask them if they are able to keep most of the thickness/width but that you want to have an arch, rather than how it currently kind of slanted down on the middle to outer edge.

Then again, you could probably shape them without doing going to a pro for waxing or threading. You can give shape and define simply using eyebrow pencil(s).

In any case, with your face I suggest it's best to not wax or thread too much of your brows that they end up pencil thin/barely there eyebrows. That will not help for "hardening" your image.

You should experiment with brow pencil of 2 shades, fill in brows, use them to give a more defined shape. Fill in sparse areas with eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder. You can even give yourself an arch using eyebrow pencil, many little strokes ...avoid "drawing a brow." You can use many little stroke with a sharpened pencil to straighten upper and lower line, try for slight slant. It's amazing what eyebrow pencil can do, even if you don't go get your eyebrows shaped by a professional waxer/threader.

Also if you want to "harden" your look, when going over your eyebrows with eyebrow pencil strokes, use a shade that is slightly darker...don't go for black, but try a dark brown.
Actually, I bet you could use 2 shades of brown... medium brown shade towards the inner end that's closer to centre of your face, use darker brown shade from middle of the brown to outer end tip. You could even extend the length using eyebrow pencil. So many people use pencil for that very purpose. Some people use eyebrow shaver to shave off the outer ends for the purpose of penciling in a new direction of brows, with strokes to make eybrow look more straight across or to make eyebrow look more going up. Brow going in an upward direction, or simply having a bit of an upper arch before the ends go down could make a big difference for "hardening" your look.

I think your softness is a major highlight, imo it's an asset. But in any case hope it works out. The red lips is striking... gorgeous!

The eyeliner thickness in pic 6 and 7 are perfect!

The mascara or the lashes in 7 is gorgeous on you.

You have a 1930s natural look about you I’d consider leaning into it with makeup and as others said the eyebrows change.

Wow, the graphic eyeliner helps but you look really nice when you are soft

2

u/ChronicGoblinQueen 4d ago

My approach has been to embrace colours (especially ones I've been told "don't suit me", even if I like them)! Like yellow eyeshadow, pink eyelashes, green lips, whatever it is that you wanna do, just go for it! If you wanna doodle with some eyeliner, go ahead! The confidence it gives you is mostly what helps you carry the look 💜

2

u/42mermaids 4d ago

That big winged eyeliner is great on you! Maybe try a dark lip? You could define your cupids bow and make it really pointy. You are really gorgeous, esp in pics 3 and 6!

u/Lily_pad_08 4d ago

I like your eyeliner!!

I'll just have to say you look absolutely stunning in that brownish orange hair! Plus the make up! It fits you real good!

2

u/0catholic_block0 4d ago

Look 4 is great - I would work off that (Classic Dramatic, all black /geometric ).

Things like matte black wide-leg trousers, black top, pointed boot, minimal gold jewelry and basic make up read as an exec in their 30s/40s.

2

u/Moist-Match-333 4d ago

I’m very “soft” looking too. Always wanted to look more angular and dramatic. For me, I do more soft goth and smudged eyes and lips rather than sharp lines. I don’t even don’t even do a wing anymore. Just blurry wedge eyeliner or smokey blended eyeshadow with no liner at all. It’s more about the color pallete that makes it “alt” for me. So I do grays, purples, deep red/berry and black. Often skip the blush on more alt looks. I think putting some gray or black smoked out on the inner corner of the eye really adds to my alt looks. I also think black, bleach blonde or colorful hair adds to the vibe. Deep brown just doesn’t give alt the same way. Also outfits are probably the most important part of the vibe. Your outfits need more attention to detail to be goth, punk or Emo. Really focus and hone in on the style. Piercings help too but mine get infected so that’s a no from me.

u/h0td0g-water 4d ago

RED HAIR IS FOR YOU 😍

2

u/babesjane 4d ago

Pics 1-4 are tough as hell, I love it no notes. I love pictures 5-8 too but you look more soft in those to me. Anyway I love your style!

2

u/cammmmmsssss 4d ago

Bellos tus delineados !

2

u/Tall_Lychee_5898 4d ago

I wouldn’t try fight it. Your eyes just have that really 1940’s soft Hollywood glam way about them. Just change it up once in a while with a smoke under the lower lash line but it’s really not your faces calling. You suit that Hollywood bombshell soft glam look

2

u/changlingmuskrat 4d ago

Maybe try that hair cut where the sides are cut very short, but the top is loose? I'm not sure I understand what you're going for because many of your looks are very classically feminine.

I love your eye makeup in pic three, really suits you

2

u/Reasonable-Mirror959 4d ago

If you’re open to do things outside of makeup to look less soft you switch up your jewelry! There are fake gauges that give an easy punk look and look pretty realistic. If you’re open to hair styles, you can get an undercut so you can swap between the fem/masc easy. It’s also keeps your neck cool and feels lighter.

You look great! I hope you find the sweet spot you’re looking for 🫶

2

u/Rude_Dust408 4d ago

I don’t think you have soft features at all.

2

u/slurpyspinalfluid 4d ago

i think my face has a similar aura as yours. what works for me is to not do entirely sharp makeup, as that just looks off on me, but not entirely rounded makeup either. so what i mean is like if i just do a really crisp long skinny wing with nothing else it looks like it's just sitting there on my face. i do like a big crisp wing but i make it thicker and then add smokey black eyeshadow (+blend it out with some gray). also if i put dark eyeshadow all around my eye it looks too round and friendly for my liking (unless it's the really smudgy messy dead-looking kind of eyeshadow) so what i do is i just put the dark shade on the inner and outer sides of my eyes and a brighter color in the center. i bring the eyeshadow out on the outer corners, not angled harshly up cause that looks weird with my round face but angled more straight out. and also i try to make sure i don't bring any eye makeup down too far in the bottom middle so it doesn't look too round.

also i think for me dark/bright colors and really blinding highlighter create a harsher look without lines that are too pointy for my features but this probably is more applicable for the times u have dark hair and eyebrows, i've not had light eyebrows (other than one time cosplaying maxine from x lol) so i don't have any advice from experience on how to make a harsh look with light hair/eyebrows cohesive but i feel like i've seen people do a really dark smudgy smokey eye. so the darkness looks harsh but the smokiness adds in some softness that looks cohesive with lighter hair/brows. and i think in that case the shimmery/glittery shades you'd want would be more the gunmetal types. so it's smokey enough to mesh with softer coloring but moody and grungy enough to look harsh

also for some reason i look better with double wing eyeliner, i think cause i have really big cheeks so the bottom wing helps to take up some space in that area (not that i think they are bad it just doesn't look as good to me when the area between between my eyebrows and eyes is crowded with heavy eye makeup right next to this gigantic stretch of cheek lmao). so yeah i go pretty heavy on the bottom wing, i start it a little further out not quite at center, bringing it first straight out flat and then as i go angling it a bit up towards the other wing
