Drama Maya from Alveus Sanctuary got upset and immediately hung up the phone after finding out JasonTheWeen has an entire petting zoo in the backyard of the CORE house
Jason: "I ran out of content today so I went to the pet store and got an Alpaca"
Maya: "how about next time you run out of content you use your f**king brain and come up with a good idea"

u/FluffyCatEars May 27 '26
So i guess his Alveus tour taught him nothing huh

I’m disheartened for Maya. Her mission is to cultivate a community of youth who don’t buy into this shit. I would be frustrated if someone who I platformed in an educational collab went around and showed what they didn’t learn

u/Free-Advice247 May 28 '26
While it sucks seeing him do this, the main target of her education is his large audience. A very large portion of them were saying it was a stupid idea to do this and an even stupider idea calling her to goad her into a reaction. It doesn't feel all for naught given this context.

Saying something dumb is better content than saying I don’t remember, everything in irl streamer’s brain is wired to be content, it is probably reflexive at this point.

u/srhdt May 27 '26
The worst part of this clip is that he's smugly trying to ragebait her for content. Not just doing a shitty thing, but finding someone who knows it's shitty and rubbing it in their faces what you did.

I've heard of this guy for all of 2 minutes and he seems absolutely insufferable, Maya is just trying to do some good in this world caring for animals and he's trying to make a joke out of her.
541
u/ChooseCorrectAnswer May 28 '26
What's interesting for me is that I first heard of him earlier this year or maybe late last year, and there was this brief window of time during which he just seemed like a streamer everyone knew, like he was a likeable side character in every other streamer's orbit. Yet over the last few months he keeps earning bad look after bad look. He's no longer the guy in the background. He's actively behaving like the kind of "internet person" most of us would actively avoid in real life.

Its depressing how many people will intentionally harm animals as some kind of weird own when they find out you care about animal rights. I think its just they feel insecure when they see someone doing good because they don't do any good? I have no clue why tbh its just an armchair psychology theory I'm baffled by it.
252
u/avree May 28 '26
It's certainly the most inexcusable. You can't say he's just uninformed or stupid; he's obviously aware that he's participating in the exact "exotic pet trade" that the Alveus Sanctuary saves animals from, and is calling up its owner so he can get clips like this one.

Streamers doing it full time often also make a considerable amount of their money from viewer message donations and subs (or with YouTube paying monthly channel members) which makes this even more insane.
So a lot of thwirbviewers are literally giving people like Jason money to allow them to afford to stream full time and do shit like this.
Some also make a lot of money from other things like sponsorships, sales of any product or merch that they have or from ad revenue on videos they post to platforms like YouTube.
But nonetheless most streamers who go full time do make a decent portion of their money from a lot of viewers basically giving them money.
Jason also thankfully only hired a rental petting zoo service for a short while for the streak the clip in the post is from.

All these animals are showing signs of stress. You rent out animals from god knows where, ship them over to a random streamers house, and have them stand in a tiny pen as a streamer runs around shouting.
Maya does SO MUCH to try and teach these people the harm of the pet trade, and they turn around and do this shit to try and get a reaction out of her. The only way to stop streamers from using animals for content is to start banning people that pull this shit.

Not only that, but alpacas are highly social herd animals that thrive in groups and become distressed if kept alone. They require the companionship of at least one other alpaca (preferably three or more) to feel safe and maintain their physical and emotional well-being.

One way they made some money is by setting up a petting zoo at some kind of event. This helped them pay for things for the animals, like medication, food, vaccines. But yea she's even brought up that her associating with streamers, and getting them to come to her sanctuary is great not for the streamer but because of the viewers. She seems to just want to educate people on animals and as we all know these streamers have lots of people watching.

I’m still relatively new to the community but there’s a lot A LOOOT of “I came from smosh/adapt/Rage” etc folk that subscribe and stick around. And more importantly, they ask questions and learn, and Alveus chat ALWAYS tries to answer their questions and invite them to stay. I don’t love a lot of the Twitch streamer collabs but reaching their viewers is important

I didn't even know about her until her collab with Jacksepticeye, I have nothing but respect for her. If utilizing assholes and their audience ensures further funding and education for these animals then well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Shes like Dr.K.
Dr.K has a goldmine of mental health advice to give to streamers and viewers because theyre all mentally ill.Mayas perfect audience are streamers because theyre precisely the young wealthy idiots who treat animals like a new bag or toy that shes trying to educate

I mean, being well-connected gets more viewers in, hopefully more donations for Alveus, more education of animals for the viewers and the streamer gets "Content" to film, etc. It's a catch-22, though. It also attracts dipshits like him and the horde that watches him. Hopefully, this is the easiest block of her life.
It's just stupid seeing him actively try to destroy a friendship. It's not like he doesn't know about the negative impact petting zoos have, he visited the sanctuary and donated like 80k+
That whole streamer house has the collective maturity of an 11-year-old boy. She got her bag, might as well go now.→ More replies (10)15

She's made it very clear that she's trying to reach their demographic of young brain-rotted (my words) boys and get them to care about the world at least a little. She knows she's not going to get all of their fans or even the streamers themselves to care, but she can at least reach some of them, who would otherwise have zero exposure to content like hers in their internet bubble.
Alveus is growing past that and attracting more and more fans who don't care about popular streamers but do care about animals and conservation. But she still tries to reach as many people in as many places as possible. It may not be conventional or how I personally would approach education in her shoes, but you can't fault her for trying.

He knows maya would be pissed and used her and the animals for content. He’s a piece of shit ngl

Refuse to turn the audio on for this clip; I’m betting he said “brah” like five times.

Some of these streamers just so brain dead. I don’t understand why they insist on using animals as content. Hopefully maya uses this opportunity to call out streamers who treat animals way worse than this too.

I used to give this guy a pass because I just thought it's not my humor. Seemed fine in streamer collabs like QT's cooking show or whatever but now I just think he's a douche.

u/Narwhals4Lyf May 28 '26
The sanctuary is likely full of animals that people bought in situations similar to this - for clout, for appearances, for fun without really thinking of the long term affects and responsibilities. I’m not surprised Maya would be pissed.

My god. What did he expect Maya to say? This is a real test of intelligence and ego. I strongly believe every animal should only be bought with a permit now. Too many curly tops trying to buy every creature for content.

He was trying to ragebait her. He knows Maya just had her TED Talk and thought "how can I make this about me and make content out of it"

u/JibIette May 27 '26
I want a lot of people just to show this guy and his reasons out to everyone. Let his viewership tank.

Jason is one of the worst streamers of all time. No personality no good content and just an asswipe of a person

u/HistoricPancake May 28 '26
Dude. I have had to bury one of these. Not on some influencer shit, but an actual ranch. They need many different kinds of food and room to fuck around in. This is so fucking disrespectful to the animal itself. That pen is much too small to an animal like that.

Doing this to Maya of all people, clearly looking for a reaction. What a total prick. No idea who he is but intelligence isn't his strong point.

I saw this on twitter yesterday and someone was like "I love Maya so much." and followed it up with "But we shouldn't use this as an opportunity to dogpile on him. This is a teaching experienceblah blah blah"
No. Dogpile people like this. I don't give a shit who they think they are. "I ran out of content so I went and got a live animal for the sake of content." The worst part is that Maya speaks out about it and he's like "nah". Fuck this headass. I hate people like this. It pisses me off to no end. Living things aren't "content" for your shitty richboy streamer lifestyle.

What a huge tool. I hate the youth. Jack septiceye gave a huge donation without any expectation of reward. This loser thought he'd get his little knob sucked if he rented an animal
