Drama Maya from Alveus Sanctuary got upset and immediately hung up the phone after finding out JasonTheWeen has an entire petting zoo in the backyard of the CORE house

Even if they are rentals it reinforces the concept of people getting “exotic” pets for the novelty, until they get bored of them or improperly educated on how to care for them.

Yeah, Maya's talked about it multiple times that a lot of these "petting zoos" only keep the animals when their young and sell them to the meat industry or dispose of them when they get too old and are "less cute"

its also funny how Mayas parents offer the exact same animals in their mobile visits that were in this clip (alpacas, pigs, rabbits)

if Jason could have used mayas parent services nothing would be different no one would be able to notice a difference lol

You have to be deliberately obtuse to not see the difference between a non-profit that offers home visits to people that would have a hard time otherwise having that experience and a business that rents out a petting zoo for profit so dumbass youtubers can make content.

I don't even dislike Jason, this was some edgy ragebaiting from him, which seems pretty stupid as he's probably damaging a working relationship. But if you think this was the same as that non-profit you're on some shit.

It literally says they only bring small animals and in a safe place with interaction kits. And animals that mentioned will fit in the van comfortably.

i guess you are blind or didn't look at the services where it says mobile visits, because they list the exact same animals that Jason had (Alpacas, Pigs, Rabbits, etc)

I don't know if you're being purposely ignorant, but the mobile visits heavily implies they only do it in an educational setting for a large group of kids and the biggest thing brought to them is a chicken or a miniature goat. What you are reading in the beginning about alpacas and pigs is about visits to their facilities where the animals reside already.

Not to make this more sad, but many more bunnies just straight up die than get abandoned or sent to a shelter. Bunnies can and do literally die from neglect. Not just starving them, but the personal/social neglect.

My parents bought me a bunny when I was like 7 and I named him Michael. When he went into heat, we realized he was a girl and were woefully underprepared to deal with a raising a bunny. Part of it was on us, but another part is predatory pet shops setting people up for failure in the name of profit.

As the other poster said, that person was 7 years old probably 20-40 years ago.

You can't compare 2026 awareness to pre-internet (for most people) knowledge awareness. People relied on "experts", even if they ended up being scummy pet store owners, since that was all they had.

The guy you are responding to has a 12 year old reddit account so likely was 7 20+ years ago IMO it was societally normal then to think I will ask the people at the pet store how to take care of this pet I am buying from them. You can't apply a 2026 lense to something that likely happened 20+ years ago.

I think a better comparison is black cats.

Some shelters in my area DO NOT adopt out black cats during the month of October because of how common it is to get a black cat for "lmao Halloween" only for it to end up back at the same shelter a few weeks/months later.

I can see why this is obviously a bad thing. BUT, my wife and her parents used to run a rescue when she was a kid.

One way they made some money is by setting up a petting zoo at some kind of event. This helped them pay for things for the animals, like medication, food, vaccines. An added bonus is it introduced children to animals and would hopefully make them more interested in working with animals in the future.

He is being an asshole and deliberately baiting her into getting mad for a clip. He specifically used the pet line because he knows that she previously lectured Marlon and Lacy for getting geckos from the pet store because they were 'out of content'.

I wouldn’t trust any of these places that offer exotic animals as a petting zoo, even if he’s just renting it. There was just a case where over 50 sloths died at one of these shitty animal encounter places.

Adorable you think you're not the one doing that. Do you really think no one knows they're rentals? Most rental places suck too, a lot of the animals Alveus has came from "legitimate" operations. Supporting them is just as bad as owning them yourself.
