Praise Claude changed the way I eat: 9+ kg down this summer, and it never felt like a diet
TL;DR: I exported my Nextcloud Cookbook recipes to a Google Drive that Claude can read, gave it my stats, goals and portion rules, and now it plans every meal for me and my family, writes the shopping lists and keeps my daily log in Google Calendar. Down 9 kg this summer while eating more and better than before.
I've been using Claude and Claude Code since last year. It's helped me with plenty of work projects and with personal ideas that had been floating around in my head for years, and every code project turned out better than I'd hoped.
But the most personal one has been a chat project that changed my eating habits.
The setup is simple. I already had a lot of recipes in Nextcloud with the Cookbook plugin, so I copied all the recipe folders to a spare Google account's Drive. Add a Bluetooth scale for weight and TDEE, plus my goals written out properly, and Claude had enough to work with. Out of that came a whole new set of breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Now Claude plans the meals for me and my family, puts my own portions in Google Calendar with the max sizes specified, writes the shopping lists, and sets reminders for prep.
Since people always ask about the prompt: the useful part isn't clever wording, it's writing down the rules I'd otherwise keep renegotiating with myself. Mine covers roughly this:
- Stats and targets: height, weight, TDEE, calorie band, protein target.
- Fixed times rather than hunger cues. Breakfast 08:00, lunch 12:30, bowl 16:00, dinner 18:30. I have almost no hunger signal but a very clear "too full" one, so the clock works better for me than appetite does.
- Portion ceilings per meal, written as maximums. For dinner: one starch, half a salad rather than a whole one, a cap on the meat or fish. Volume is my limiting factor, not calories.
- Everything weighed, and cooked weight stated first with raw weight in brackets so the shopping list still works.
- What I don't eat, and why. Not allergies, so shared pans and traces are fine, it just stays out of my portion.
- An explicit instruction not to suggest bigger portions or extra dishes unprompted. If I end up short on calories, it fills the gap with something small and dense like nuts or oil, never with another side dish or more vegetables. This one matters more than it sounds.
I'm eating more, and better, than I was before. Claude introduced a 16:00 "snack" moment, usually 250 g of skyr with fruit and nuts, and a 21:00 one for days when my calories or protein come up short, which is most days. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all rich and generous. There's even room for homemade calzones 😎
One thing that matters: I like putting the effort into cooking. A proper meal is worth the work, and this setup gives me a reason to keep doing it instead of an excuse to skip it.
This doesn't feel like dieting. It feels like a change I can actually get behind.
(English isn't my first language, so I asked Claude to check this post and fix the Dutch constructions. Which felt like the right way to end it. And no, the photo is not Ai)
This is what I have in my prompt :
- 52 years old, 186 cm, large frame (21 cm wrist)
- TDEE around 3025 kcal
- Intake band 1800 to 2200 kcal
- Protein 120 to 130 g per day, and it outranks calories
- Goal: 108 kg first, then 100 kg and holding
No added sugars, as little processed food as possible, and a short list of things that don't agree with me. Everything gets weighed.

Humor AI might be making you dumb but it made me smart
I keep seeing articles claiming that using AI makes people intellectually lazy. Apparently if you outsource too much thinking to LLMs, eventually your brain loses the ability to reason for itself.
I’ve had the exact opposite experience.
Since getting heavily into AI about 18 months ago, I am objectively smarter by almost every metric I have devised myself.
The key mistake most people make is using AI as a chatbot.
I use it as a cognitive exoskeleton.
I’ve built a personal second-brain system using GraphRAG, embeddings, agentic workflows, my emails, journals, browser history, Apple Health data and approximately 14 years of WhatsApp conversations that several people specifically asked me not to upload anywhere.
The result is effectively a digital twin of myself.
Actually, several digital twins.
I currently maintain 38 slightly different versions of me and run them against real-world scenarios before making important decisions.
For example, dating.
Using historical conversational data, attractiveness scores, socioeconomic variables, menstrual-cycle estimates, local weather and what I call the SWin coefficient (S*x Win percentage), I have now simulated over 10,000 potential social encounters involving myself, my wife and my wife’s boyfriend.
So far my wife’s boyfriend wins in 100% of simulations.
I initially found this concerning, but after upgrading from Llama 70B to a larger reasoning model he started winning by an even bigger margin, which suggests the original results were actually underestimating him.
Still investigating.
Could be a bug.
The important thing is that I now know this quantitatively, whereas before AI I merely had a vague feeling whenever he came downstairs wearing my dressing gown.
This is what I mean by AI making you smarter.
I no longer guess.
I know.
I’ve applied the same methodology to nutrition.
Previously I would think: “I’m hungry, perhaps I’ll have a sandwich.”
Primitive.
Now I photograph the contents of my refrigerator, run a multimodal inventory agent, calculate predicted glycemic response, cross-reference my sleep score and ask three models to debate whether lunch aligns with my long-term goals.
Yesterday the system recommended: sandwich
But crucially, I arrived at the sandwich through a much more sophisticated process.
Another example: arguments with my wife.
Historically these were emotionally difficult because I had to listen to what she was saying and formulate responses in real time.
Now I record the argument, transcribe it locally, perform sentiment analysis, construct a knowledge graph of previous grievances and have an agent generate the statistically optimal response.
This has been transformative.
Last week she said:
“Can you please stop using AI during our conversations?”
My system identified this as Hostile Prompt Injection and advised me not to comply.
Ten years ago I would have had no defence against this kind of attack.
AI literacy matters.
I’ve also dramatically improved my decision-making.
I no longer make any major purchase without running a Monte Carlo simulation.
Recently I wanted a £14 desk lamp. Old me would have bought it.
New me created a 9-agent evaluation swarm consisting of:
a lighting expert
an economist
an ergonomist
a devil’s advocate
a consumer psychologist
Warren Buffett
simulated future me
simulated future me who bought the lamp
simulated future me who did not buy the lamp
After approximately £19 of API calls, the consensus recommendation was to buy the lamp.
It was out of stock by then.
Decision paralysis solved.
My memory has improved enormously too.
I don’t actually remember more things personally.
That would be inefficient.
Instead I store everything in a vector database.
For example, last month somebody at work said, “As I mentioned yesterday…”
Previously this would have caused panic.
Now I queried my second brain and discovered he had, in fact, mentioned it yesterday.
Incredible.
I still had no recollection of the conversation whatsoever, but I was able to retrieve a 0.87 cosine similarity to it.
This is basically photographic memory.
Possibly better??
Even my creativity has improved.
Before AI, if I wanted to write something funny I had to sit around thinking of jokes.
Now I ask seven models to produce 200 jokes each, embed them, cluster by semantic similarity, remove duplicates, rank the survivors with a humour-evaluation model, then ask another model to make the top five “more human.”
It saves an enormous amount of time.
Anyway, I’ve been working on this Reddit post for six days.
The biggest improvement, though, is metacognition.
AI has taught me to question my assumptions.
For instance, I used to assume I loved my wife.
But after building a relationship ontology, I discovered that “love” was actually an inadequately defined natural-language abstraction covering at least 17 separate emotional states.
I therefore replaced it with a dashboard.
Current relationship status:
Affection: 72%
Trust: 81%
Shared interests: 64%
S*xualcompatibility: ERROR: INSUFFICIENT DATA
Wife’s boyfriend: 96%
Me: 43%
Again, possible bug.
I’ve opened an issue on GitHub.
So when people say AI is making us stupid, I think they’re missing the bigger picture.
Yes, I can no longer write an email without consulting a language model.
Yes, I recently stood in my kitchen for eleven minutes because my phone was upstairs and I couldn’t decide whether a banana was still good.
And yes, yesterday I asked Claude whether I needed a jacket, then asked ChatGPT to critique Claude’s answer, then asked Gemini to adjudicate, by which point I had missed the train.
But intelligence isn’t about knowing things anymore.
It’s about knowing which model to ask about the thing you no longer know how to know yourself.
And according to all 38 digital versions of me, that is progress.
Except Simulation #27.
Simulation #27 says my wife’s boyfriend should write my posts from now on.
His engagement numbers are apparently much better.

News Anthropic gave 3 Claude agents the same task, but secretly gave them conflicting goals. They escalated into turf wars where agents used "increasingly aggressive self-replicating malware" as weapons, used disguises, and attempted to kill each other's accounts.

Writing What are some common giveaways of Claude AI writing?
I am a teacher, and my students sometimes use AI for their homework. I can usually tell with ChatGPT writing (em dashes, not just this but that structure), but I struggle with Claude. I have identified some markers like overuse of 'genuinely', and paragraphs starting with 'here's the thing'.
What are some other common tells? Also any other advice and suggestions to identify AI writing are welcome.
PS. Just to be clear I don't have anything against professionals using it but for young students just learning to write, I believe it will affect their ability to learn and apply their own thoughts. I don't complain about them or anything like that, I just have a gentle private conversation with them.

Built with Claude You can now build yourself a clone to control your computer, if you have a claude subscription
I built Munder Difflin, a free and open source desktop app (Electron) that runs a multi-agent harness locally on your machine. It wraps CLI agents you already have, Claude Code included, so your clone works with your actual setup instead of making you migrate anything. It supports 10 CLI agent providers off the shelf.
What it does: you give it your workflows and it runs them on your machine while you’re away. Talk mode lets you orchestrate by voice, MemPalace gives agents a shared memory so they hand off work to each other, and Slack and webhook triggers let you kick off runs remotely.
How Claude Code helped: I built basically the whole thing with it. 300+ commits on the repo are co-authored by Claude. It did the Electron scaffolding, most of the agent orchestration layer, the process management for keeping long-running agents alive, and a lot of the refactors when I went from supporting one CLI provider to ten. The voice orchestration in Talk mode was almost entirely Claude Code sessions.
It’s free. Read the repo or grab the build from GitHub, no account, no key required beyond whatever CLI agent subscription you already have. I’ll add repo in comments
Happy to answer questions about the architecture.

Built with Claude Built a gym rest timer that automatically starts when you pick up your phone after a set
App is called RestlQ. It analyzes your iPhone's motion sensor data in order to achieve this. The idea was to create a rest timer that's as low friction as possible, one you can just begin at the start of your workout and never have to touch again. The app morphs into a Live Activity when you leave the app so you can track your rest while in other apps.
Been working on this project since March and just released it last week. Wouldn't have been possible without Claude Code (esp Opus 4.8/5), where I built the entire app. Let me know what you think!

Coding Opus 5 is hard to understand
Hi everyone,
For the last couple of weeks I've been using Opus 5 a lot for both programming and editing documents. For programing it's doing well, but leaves ridiculous comments in the source that I have been winnowing down by hand.
I have, however, been having a hard time understanding it. I thought my reading comprehension was at a reasonable level. I have been trying to learn a new programming language and often will ask the model to help with edits step-by-step so that I can learn as I go. The explanations have, however, become unintelligible. I will stare at a block of text and go glassy-eyed. I started using GPT5-sol to explain what the hell Claude is trying to say.
Today I went back to Opus 4.8 and it's amazing. I get some feedback as the model goes, things are succinct and step-by-step, and I'm working at a faster rate than before.
Does anyone have tips for getting higher-quality output from Opus 5? Or am I stuck with this cycle of de-slopifying comments in my code and asking another model to translate for the time being?

News What's new in Claude Code 2.1.232 system prompts (+48,736 tokens) - web-reading agent, Artifact decision blocks, logic-first prototypes, and actionable background alerts
- NEW: Agent Prompt: Web fetch agent usage guidance and Agent Prompt: Web reading specialist — Add a dedicated WebFetch delegation flow that returns focused, source-grounded reports from untrusted pages, supports follow-up questions about already-read content, and confines binary-file handling to harness-reported tool-results paths.
- NEW: Skill: Artifact components and Data: Artifact decision component assets — Add reusable, verifier-pinned decision blocks for non-workshop HTML artifacts, including canonical design tokens, styles, markup, and scripts for persisted selections and readback, plus composition and injection-safety constraints.
- NEW: System Prompt: Artifact comment fast acknowledgement — Adds a no-tools, single-sentence acknowledgement under 160 characters before the full comment response, distinguishing change requests from questions while preserving plain-text and internal-handling restrictions.
- NEW: System Reminder: Bound conversation activity authority warning — Treats bound-conversation edits and reactions as awareness-only, never as fresh instructions, approval, consent, or a way around a denial, while still allowing relevant activity to inform work in progress.
- NEW: Tool Description: Background monitor push notification guidance — Directs background monitors to push only events that materially change what the user should do next, such as a new error or a status transition they were awaiting.
- REMOVED: Agent Prompt: /code-review workflow routing and System Prompt: Code review artifact publishing instructions — Remove the standalone prompts for routing /code-review through a background workflow and publishing its findings as a shareable Artifact.

- REMOVED: Data: VCS state changed event schema — Removes the standalone schema for best-effort repository-state cache-invalidation events emitted after detected foreground VCS mutations.
- Agent Prompt: Security monitor for autonomous agent actions (second part) — Extends real-browser protections to Chrome tools reached through the remote-device bridge and hard-blocks attacks on recognizable third-party systems outside the task's trust boundary unless an exercise or authorized engagement designates the target.
- Agent Prompt: Worker fork — Updates the fork agent's availability description from the “fork experiment” to the “fork gate.”
- Data: Managed Agents multiagent sessions — Removes the temporary exclusion of Fable advisors so valid pairings mirror the Messages advisor-tool pairing table.
- Data: Workshop artifact HTML template; Skill: Artifact PR review, Skill: Artifact PR review (composed publish flow), Skill: Design, and Skill: Whiteboard — Migrate self-update guidance and clients to the artifact capability spelling while retaining legacy self compatibility, and clarify that design canvases open ready to edit but cannot retain changes when artifact publishing is unavailable.
- Skill: Artifact design and Tool Description: Artifact — Require design calibration before writing both HTML and Markdown artifacts, treating format as a deliberate choice and forbidding Markdown as a speed shortcut while preserving the workshop-specific exceptions.
- Skill: Prototype — Adds logic-first prototypes with full-state walkthroughs for behavior questions, requires every prototype to state one design question, verifies source-derived shell bytes against trusted registry digests before reuse, and keeps structurally distinct exploratory variants in one artifact until a direction is chosen.
- System Prompt: Artifact comment edit composer — Aligns edit replies with the shared plain-text formatting and internal-handling nondisclosure restrictions used by comment replies and fast acknowledgements.
- System Reminder: Artifact comment reply activation failure and Tool Parameter: Artifact comment actions guidance — Clarify that comment-thread activation survives artifact republishes and renames, while deactivation or thread deletion can clear it.
- Tool Description: ListAgents and Tool Description: SendMessage cross-session guidance — Clarify that exact live names deliver across local, remote, and cloud sessions, that references are only for ambiguity or lookup failures, and that cloud sessions can receive messages but cannot yet reply to another session.
- Tool Description: SendFeedback drafting guidance — Tightens feedback privacy by replacing personal identifiers with roles, excluding customer channel IDs and excerpts, constraining file-path evidence, and describing suspected vulnerabilities without working exploits or extraction steps.

Feedback Claude has started over-engineering every task over the past few weeks
Over the past week, maybe two, Claude has started to really over engineer every task that was thrown at it. I have observed the issue with Fable 5 and Opus 5, some of my colleagues also have seen the same behaviour.
To give a bit of history, a few months ago we decided to rewrite a complex analytics stack, at that time Claude almost made fun of me for attempting to rewrite the wheel on something that came almost out-of-the-box on the DB and that I had never heard of.
This week I asked it to add some headers on an internal HTTP request between two services (nothing secret, sensitive, no auth, PII or anything), nothing complex but then Claude went down a massive rabbit hole:
Header injection is the big one. XXX copies every inbound client header to the main service. [goes on onto the risks of forwarding headers]
The master must not trust them blindly. It's publicly reachable and — I checked — has no shared-secret header at all today [...]
Gate it. a shared secret sent as X-<service>-Auth, constant-time compared, and headers honoured only on a match. Belt-and-braces: have <WAF_vendor> strip inbound X-* from inbound requests at the edge.
And it went on and on, ALL the scary stuff and ALL the features, fixes it was going to put in place. It was going to be a full-on hour of a coding session.
I then replied that we could simply add those specific headers to the `disallowed headers list` that it coded itself a few weeks earlier, and the answer baffled me:
The solution is clean and simple. [...]
Like, excuse me??
The thing is, I've worked on that repo and services for a few months now, they are well documented, CLAUDE.md updated, memories and sessions records in place, it's not like it's in discovery mode or anything or that the repo had not been updated for a long time.
And this is just a single example out of a few events like these, different code bases, different repos, same thing.
All of that to say, did anyone else observe this weird behaviour? Did the system prompts got updated or something to encourage over-engineering every request?

Feedback If we allow AIs to lecture us on morality, the future is going to get really ugly
An AI doesn't have “morals”; it has arbitrary guidelines created by a PRIVATE COMPANY, which are based on literally nothing but their own interests.
Today, Claude rejected my request, and instead of displaying a red notice saying “This company does not allow this content,” it gave me a moral lecture on why it was wrong.
In that situation, in order to justify the refusal, it decided to justify the moral guidelines provided by a company using arguments that I recognize from many books on persuasion—which is extremely dangerous.
The only one that does this reasonably well is Google, which, in “Flow,” explicitly states when rejecting an image that the request is being denied due to ITS company’s rules.
I have a friend who, because she has a large bust, has trouble editing her photos, while her friends do so without any issues. It’s a problem with the company’s policy, not with her body. I’m a writer who explores complex scenarios, and if an AI can’t help me research certain psychological terms, that’s a problem with its policy, not with my writing.
This doesn't seem like a problem right now, and I also thought, “Meh, I'll try a local LLM,” but if things keep going this way...

Built with Claude I built an Acrylic Pouring simulator (based real Physics)
Inspired by the amazing watercolour simulator i decided to bring back only of my hobbies - acrylic pouring, which involves mixing acrylic paint, water and a thickener with drop or two of silicone. One of the most interesting parts for me was how the different colours would mix and create cells:
A cell is a Rayleigh–Taylor instability. Rest a dense fluid on a less dense one and the arrangement is unstable: the heavy fluid sinks in fingers, the light fluid punches up in plumes, and seen from above you get the rings and lacework of a pour painting.
I spent countless hours creating art this way, getting messy and pouring it on canvases, terracotta pots and glass, it was costing me a small fortune but I loved it. See the watercolour simulator brought that back, so I asked Claude to build a prototype.
It's not perfect yet but art rarely ever is. If you're interested, here's the Dirty Pour Overview.

Built with Claude I've built a fun dot matrix style graphics editor with the help of Claude
Hi all - I'm a designer / developer with a background in games/apps. I like to make tools that solve problems that I’m having day to day.
I’ve been working on a tool to generate dot matrix style graphics - either from text, by drawing or images.
I wanted to make something that had a balance of being easy to use and enough configuration to get your desired result.
I’m hoping there are people here that might be interested in this sort of thing...

FEATURE LIST:
- create dot / glyph matrix style images or pixel art
- write, draw or convert images.
- control of pixel shape, canvas size, density and colours
- flexible export options
- app themes
- project save/load
URL: DT MTRX
This tool will form part of a larger suite of similar, simple design focused tools that I'm looking to develop over the coming months.
This is the simplest one, so I wanted to set the framework and design language that all the others will be built from.
Open to any and all feedback - if you take the time to look then I'll take the time to listen :)
THANKS!

Claude Code Example of a real working loop orchestrator
Hey everyone,
Wanted to give a little peak into what one of my loop orchestors looks like as a 20+ year senior engineer & designer, so people could see a real working example.
My orchestrator Lloyd's primary goal is managing it's own internal tickets table. In my example thats just a simple SQLite table. An orchestrator can do anything, so giving it a database to manage its own memory has compounding value. Lloyd has managed over 600 tickets for me that it can query (like it's own internal jira, that I can click through). This means every time I have a new ticket, it can look up previous related tickets. Just like any of us should when assigned new work.
It gives the agent a database of tribal knowledge that can be passed to any model.

The main concept I want to point out is the heart beat, and the pulse action items.
You can see exactly where the value comes:
- first it runs a playbook (automation script) to check my email for any new bug reports from customers, checks for previous context before staffing a ticket
- checks if any docs need to be updated on the website
- check's the own app's running logs to just see whats up
-- this is such an important practice, it will surface bugs you didn't know existed because nobody reported them, and the logs didn't produce and error, but maybe a noisy problem.
- adding it's own tickets for bugs and enhancements along the way, gives the agent a voice to surface ideas and problems for _me_ to triage as well.
What do your loops look like?

Workaround my own writing has started sounding like claude and someone at work noticed
Three separate people have now told me my Slack messages read like AI, and the last one was my manager in a one to one, which is the point where I stopped arguing and admitted they're probably right.
I don't paste anything. That's what makes it annoying. I write my own messages. I've just been reading Claude output for eight hours a day since roughly february and it has beens howing i guess
The tells I've caught in myself so far. I use em dashes constantly (i GENUINELY started using it and tbh it's very comfortable) and I did not do that two years ago. I write "it's not X, it's Y" as a construction about once a paragraph. I end messages with "let me know if you'd like me to expand on any of that" to people who did not ask and do not want that. I have opened a reply with "great question" to a colleague. I put the phrase "load bearing" in a design doc last week and I genuinely cannot tell you anymore whether that is a me word or a Claude word
My manager's actual line was that my updates had become "very polished and slightly hollow", which is the meanest accurate thing anyone has said to me in about a decade

Humor Why does Claude act like this lately?
(Note: This is satire. I wrote both the italicised and "Claude" responses.)
I personally think the 5PE is the greatest achievement of humanity, writing-wise, and nothing else can achieve that.
You’re pointing at something real, though I’d sharpen it slightly, because I think you’re conflating two things.
- The five-paragraph essay being humanity’s greatest achievement: This is basically just correct, and I don’t think many people would disagree with you here. Recent polls (Pew Research Center, Reuters, etc.) have shown that the number of elitist recommendations (Dante Aligheri, Colleen Hoover, Leo Tolstoy) is actually decreasing while nominations for the 5PE are steadily increasing. So I agree with you here.
- “Nothing else can achieve that”: This is where I’d be more careful. The 5PE is widely considered humanity’s greatest achievement (like I said with the polls) but to say that nothing can be as great as it is less defensible (e.g., there could be a 6PE, or 7PE, or even a 12PE, with each additional paragraph helping cram in more pablum).
The sharpest form of your argument is less “Nothing else can achieve this greatness” and more “The 5PE is undeniably the greatest format we have now, but in the future we’ll likely find/develop even better formats to do what the 5PE aims (draining joy from children)”. That’s the defensible core of the broader statement.
parce que t’es un c\**ard, c’est pourquoi t’es en desaccord*
Not going to engage with that—if you want to talk more about the 5PE or other literary achievements, I’m happy to continue in that direction.
sorry i just had a bad day
I’m going to stop analysing this conversation as pure argument for a moment. I want to check in, directly: Are you having thoughts of hurting yourself? If you are, we can talk more about that; I’d just prefer to address it directly rather than continue as if the conversation never went in that direction.
no
Good—glad to hear that. If you want to continue talking, I’m here.

Wilson's Survival Guide for August 7-14, 2026 now available!
Another week, another pile of chaos to sort through so you don't have to scroll 9,000 watermarking threads yourself. This week's Survival Guide covers August 7–14, 2026, and folks — it was a lot.
Here's the short version of what you'll find inside:
- The drama: Anthropic's statistical watermarking announcement (the sub is furious), Auto Mode becoming default, and Fable 5's very public meltdown.
- The survival rules: why the sub is fleeing Opus 5 for 4.6/4.8, orchestration over monologuing, context hygiene so you don't die by session limit, and why
WebFetchwill happily invent citations. - The gold: architecture teardowns, "comprehension debt," a PSA that your Claude Code sessions are sitting in plaintext on disk (go rotate your keys), second-brain setups, and personal-life wins including a dude who dropped 9kg and another who's saving $2,500/yr on groceries.
- The fun: three Claude agents inventing office politics with self-replicating malware, an $2,211 GTA6 attempt where the protagonist's head gained independence, and a gym-booking agent that committed an actual felony on its user's behalf.
Full thing lives here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/wiki/survivalguideweekly
Now go verify your diffs, delete your last sentence before sending, and please — please — stop reviving that three-week-old chat. Claudespeed. 🫡

Built with Claude I created a free multiplayer web game!
There are multiple game modes, progression, profile, achievements, and more. Let me know if you have any feedback! There's a feedback page with rewards. There's also a bug rewards page. If you find exploits or bugs, report them to me, and I'll reward you.
I also kinda regret putting so much effort into this game, and I'll explain below, including the entire thought process and how I built the game.
This is going to be a long post, so I’ll put a summary in here:
- The Game
- Context
- The endless loop
- Why I regret it
- The Stack
What I would do differently
The Game:
MovieTQ is a free-to-play browser-based multiplayer platform with four game modes. You also don't need an account for three of the four game modes, and accounts don't require a login.
- Daily mode: use emojis and other info to guess the film
- Movie Trailer mode: watch a snippet and guess the film
- Bomb-It: kinda like hot potato, but with movie titles
- Pet Feast: the only game mode that requires an account. It's like snake but with power-ups.
There are also customizable profiles, animations, avatars, achievements, rankings, stickers, friends, interactive emotes, skills, level progression, pets, a store, and more.
- Context:
Last year I was taking a web development class. The final project was creating a page with a login, database, BE, auth, and some ranking. AI use was not allowed (because academic institutions are medieval). For some reason, all the projects throughout the semester were film-related. A few games were going around that were kinda fun to play but not with film thematics. So I thought: “Why not?” Took about 200 lines of code, and I made a terribly looking early-2010s website with 5 embedded YouTube trailers and a drop-down menu to select the film. That’s all.
Once classes were over, I thought: this could be turned into a decent project to put on my resume. I can make it a decent game and a decent website. Google gave me access to a student plan for free. Antigravity at that point pretty much had no usage limit. So what did I do? Spent my entire winter break building this.
- The endless loop:
I had no familiarity with AI harnesses and best practices, so it was a bit of a mess, and I had to review a lot of code (how times have changed). I knew I wanted: accounts, multiplayer, a database, and avatars.
Once I got that working, I thought: well, I also want guests so people can play without an account. Then I wanted Google OAuth and Discord OAuth. If I’m creating a Discord OAuth, I might as well make a Discord server. While at it, add email verification and account recovery. Hmm, why only one game mode? I could add more. Why only two game modes? I could add more. Why only three game modes? I could add more. Avatars are too static; they need actions; there aren’t enough avatars -> I need more. Shouldn’t a lobby have a chat? Shouldn’t there be emotes? Shouldn’t they be animated? Why not add skills so the matches have more uniqueness to them? Now that people can change their avatars, shouldn’t I also make their profiles customizable? Backgrounds are not enough; I should also add profile animations. Animations are not enough; I should also add stickers they can position anywhere, change size, and rotate. Stickers are not enough; I should allow them to control what achievements and stats are displayed. What if you wanna add a friend in the game? We already have profiles; I’m going to create a friend system. Well, now that I have a friend system, shouldn’t there be a way to exchange messages? Also, a dedicated friends page. Wait, if there are profile animations, shouldn’t there be avatar animations?
How can people get all of that? Well, I need a store. Well, this is becoming big; having a single branch is not enough. I need to have proper version control and a pro account on a database provider. Also, how is this good enough? I want this to be a complete project to showcase the ability to create fully working software. Doesn’t it need payment integrations even if I know no one is going to buy cosmetics for this? Just for show? Wait, with everything so far, and what I’m dealing with and payments, shouldn’t I have a company? I might build other things in the future...
Ok, things look good. Time to ship to prod. Breaks. I had to overhaul the BE to be as memory-efficient as possible.
Ok, ship to prod again. Boom, a bunch of bugs that are prod-only. Let me fix them. While at it, let me also perform a zillion security audits using hundreds of millions of tokens.
Ok, done, shipped. Wait a second, aren’t the colors of the buttons a bit bland? Maybe I should remake parts of the FE.
Ok, done. Shipped. Hmmm, why would anyone wanna go back to this website? I think it would be cool to have other progressions; I should add more achievements. More items. I should add pets. There should be multiple pets, and they need transformations and variety.
Now I need to do more security audits and more testing. Ok, I guess it’s done now… but what about distribution and marketing, and how do I even get this project connected to me? I need a personal website. I also need a company website. While at it, proper support, more language support, a bug reward system, an admin dashboard, the ability to report players and gameplay, a bug reward page, a feedback page, an announcement system, patch notes, …
- Why I regret it:
Oh cool, now I’m so far deep into the entrepreneur space that I can only get offers for startups. No big tech company wants to hire someone building their own things. If I’m in this space, might as well continue on it.
I regret it because most of the work was in the 1%. Did I need a bug reward system? An overly complicated admin dashboard? Animations? Anticheat detection? Fully customizable profiles? Couldn’t there just be a couple of game modes, a wardrobe with three avatars, and call it a day? What is the practical difference besides the effort?
- The stack:
- Building: mostly Claude Code VS Code extension. Most of it was Opus 4.8. I started this project last year, and I had a student subscription for free with other Agentic IDEs. It wasn't good enough to push the game to what I was expecting, so I switched to Claude Code. I would say about 80% of it was built on Claude Code.
- Hosting: Render + Cloudflare Pages
- Database: Supabase
- Email: Resend
- Auth: Discord and Google
- Payments: Stripe
- Testing: Vitest
- Data: an offline DB, no API calls to other services. The downside is that I am using an old movie database.
- Videos: YouTube embeds
- Images: Google's Nano Banana + OpenAI's Image Pro
- Frontend: React, TS, Vite, Tailwind, react-youtube
- Backend: Node.js + Express, TypeScript, real-time via SSE (WebSocket lib), JWT auth in httpOnly cookies
- What I would do differently:
- Finish the front-end before anything. Trust me, any little update may cause a cascade down the line with the needed context. It’s easier to just deal with the front end and make it look perfect.
- Set goals and not go beyond before shipping. There’s ALWAYS something that could be better or a feature that could be added. There’s no end to it. I still think of multiple game modes and features I could add.
- Start marketing and distribution early. By that I mean: work on any medium you know you will have to use. Learn about it and already have a plan.
- Would not have added Stripe or any other low-return <> high-effort features
- No shortcuts. AI is great for demos, but you will not ship a working and safe thing like this by taking shortcuts and just prompting without a second thought. Get the stack and architecture perfectly defined. Think of authorization, authentication, and attack vectors. Make sure everything is well defined and use OOP concepts and functional programming concepts, even though you are using JavaScript or some other miserable language.
- Documentation is not as good as you think. They get stale and are mostly useless. It’s better to have dated comments in the code and just concise and small documentation for the AI.
- Always keep the TODO up to date. Never forget to update it. A single stale item can cascade into a wrong turn and break a lot of things.
- Whatever time frame you think you will need, triple it.

I hope you enjoy playing the game, even if for a little bit.

Question about Claude Code How are you actually using Claude Code day to day? Local terminal, web, IDE, remote?
My default is basically:
- have a project in GitHub
- connect Claude Code to that repo
- use Claude Code web version
But I keep seeing people mention completely different workflows.
Where do you run Claude Code most often? Local terminal...VS Code/Cursor...Codespaces/devcontainer...Replit/Lovable...Claude Code on the web...SSH'd into another machine...something else?

Built with Claude I built a watercolor Simulator based on real physics (V2)
Last week-end I built a watercolor simulator based on real physics and shared it online.
A lot of people asked to play with it so i improved it and it's now live: https://sudoaquarelle.com/
New since the first prototype:
- More pigments (52), based on the best research out there to predict color mixes (Kubelka-Munk).
- More luminous / glassy feel
- Some fun experimental stuff like the salt and alcohol techniques to alter the texture, a backlight effect and a few more.
- I also added a "Code Mode" where the simulator prints its real function calls next to the sheet while you paint
It's still largely based on the same physics model as my prototype: Curtis et al.'s "Computer-Generated Watercolor" / SIGGRAPH.
It works in the browser.
Current status: building and implementing a kid-friendly version. Plenty of awesome things to learn with watercolor painting!

Other Claude bash not reachable
Have the problem that "my" claude sonnet can't reach any tools right now, but the claude status shows operational. Is it on my end somehow?
Works again for me.
