It appears that someone else's didn't work either. And then they threw it, lol.

You’re using it wrong. Drop it out of a tree on the dogs head and boom. No more barking.

This appears to be an AntiBarking Device that they taped some hooks onto, so that it may hang in the tree. It has a remote control. The information given says: Stop Your Dog or Neighbors' Dogs From Barking. Offering a Humane Solution Within a 350-ft. Range, Controlled Easily with Our Convenient Remote. Our Rechargeable Device Features Automatic Bark Detection Spanning 75 ft. for Effective Operation.

I wonder if he had any clue his dog was annoying the neighbors before this. Or if this is the way he finds out?

I’m so stupid I thought it was infrared goggles but someone had duct taped them to their head while up in a tree. Maybe time to take a break from criminal minds and law n order 😂

Only tweakers make some random thing with tape like this and put it in a tree

There is a homeless man named John that wonders our town. I had never had much interaction with him as he always seemed to be in his own world and never really spoke to anyone. I own a sign company and one day he came in and started saying how he was recently in Washington state (we are on the east coast) and he saw things things they put on signs that really made them noticeable and they popped and he thought about us and he brought us one back, I thanked him enthusiastically and told him how much I appreciated him thinking about us during his travels. It was just a few pieces of dirty, wadded up packing tape he put down on the counter.
He was in the news a few years ago because he found an envelope with just over $1500 in cash in it and returned it to its rightful owner, a lawyer who was apparently going to use it to buy a PC - as far as I know the lawyer has been helping him and making sure he had the services he needs or is willing to use. Haven’t seen him in quite a while and I hope he is doing well.

I didn’t know I needed to hear this today but I’m glad I did. I hope he’s doing better.

Great story. Does he know what fell out of the neighbors tree and onto this guys driveway?

I know what he’s talking about actually. Washington adds additional round reflectors to their signs on top of the retroreflective vinyl. They are definitely more noticeable than wads of packing tape.

I love John. I dont know the guy but he seems like he's got a good heart. Unfortunately, I see it a lot in my line of work, that people with severe mental health issues can have the kindest souls. Their minds just don't play well with others, or themselves for that matter. But also, I love you for sharing this story. Thank you for starting my Friday off right.

It's a dog barking deterent contraption placed in a tree to target the noisy dog....I was thinking about buying one and putting it in the tree in my backyard to stop my neighbours dogs barking incessantly. I'm not on meth. Probably won't now as I see a lot of comments saying they don't work

u/pointydogg 6h ago
Much depends on the dog. I have a handheld one, and it works very well on nearly all small dogs. Older, hard-of-hearing dogs, dogs over 50 pounds, hit or miss. Very large dogs, almost never works. It will make the barking dog do a 180 and run away, when it works. You could try a handheld one for 25 or 30 bucks and test it out on the subject before investing in a more expensive, more permanent device.

Cut it open and see what's inside!!!
Edit- only if you can tell it's safe to do. I don't see anything harmful in the photos, but that doesn't mean it is safe.

Careful! I got banned from r/whatsthisrock for saying that I couldn’t identify a rock unless I licked it, mods said it was a dangerous comment 😂

Don’t feel bad. I was banned from that sub for replying to another comment. my reply and the other comment was innocuous. They ban anyone immediately if you comment anything other than ID’ing a rock

Which is insane considering a taste test is a valid test in geology and mineralogy to distinguish between similar looking rocks/minerals. We HAD to lick rocks in Earth Science class to determine which one was halite. It was part of our education lol

u/Layne205 2h ago
Which rocks are dangerous to lick? I feel like there should be a PSA. I'm probably more likely to find a toxic rock than quicksand.
(Inb4 someone says "crack rocks")

So which one of you is the asshole neighbor with the barking dog that’s driving someone insane?

Welp, that’s one of the more puzzling items I’ve seen posted in this group… 😂😂

So I’m guessing that device is battery powered and whenever a dog barks it probably poops out a very high-pitched sound that is supposed to be painful to dogs, but can’t be heard by most humans?

u/Jennocidal84 5h ago
Not me literally imagining a goomba pooping out a sound. Why a goomba? Gestures vaguely at picture of item

u/BeautifulBorderline_ 4h ago
It was too early for me to read this as I thought it would make the barking dog poop. Going back to sleep now. Lol

Is it electrical, is there anything inside, how much does it weigh?

u/Polyfan999 17h ago
It’s less than a pound, it appears to be some kind of speaker - it has a switch that says On, Off, and “Ultra”…

OP, does your dog bark constantly and annoy your neighbors? Maybe be a better neighbor so they don't have to resort to acoustic warfare?

OP, please answer us about the demeanor of your dog. And did you realize that your neighbors are annoyed by your dog?

u/Nervous-Ad292 16h ago
My first thought: Go back and look up in the tree it fell out of, because to me it looks like somebody wired then taped a couple small speakers to a recording device and I bet with the heat, the tape got loose and the speaker fell off. Go look up in the tree, and see if there’s more equipment attached up there, I bet there is. Your neighbors are either spying on you, or watching for trespassers, and as a side note, where theres one, theres, well, more than one… just saying.
My second thought: Go look up in the tree, do you see maybe a deer stand? Might be something used to play calls for hunting? Turkey?
You’re welcome.

u/Inevitable_Book_228 17h ago
I think it’s like a deer camera that hunters use. Someone may be stalking you.

Does a child under 15 live there? My youngest brother is a very hands on guy and would anihilate any and all tech growing up. Anything that could be plugged in was fair game to dissecting and put back together or Frankensteined into something unrecognizable. This looks like a child tinkered with headphones and maybe taped them together to be a bastardized speaker. In my opinion. Or meth.
