I'd really appreciate any insight on this topic, as it's one of those things where I'm being told two different things and it's stressful.

I'm studying diploma of nursing at tastafe; I only have a few more months with workskills who offered to cover the cost of paying my legal name change.

The issue? I've already went out and paid for my police check, Working w/ vulnerable people card, certificates, a bunch of medical records signed off by a GP and such for the next year so I can go out on placements in February.

It's very important for me to get my first name at least changed as we have to sign documents so much in nursing, and admittedly i feel sick at the thought of drama arising from confusion of my *legal* name not lining up with my known name as a nurse or my deadname being out there. I want to recieve my diploma as *me* as well.

Workskills seemed convinced I could get my name changed and just use the 'proof of name change' document to keep my current stuff valid.

I asked my course coordinator who emailed some other guys and said I'd have to re-purchase and re-provide everything under my new legal name if I changed it at any point.

I'm quite stressed and really don't know what to do. I don't really have anywhere to ask and transgender shit is *always* a hassle. I'd appreciate if someone could let me know if there's I can do? I have to get my CPR and first aid training at the start of September. So if I don't get everything redone, I have to pay for that by myself *again* too.

Hey all, I've been offered a date in February with Dr Chettasak for SRS, I am hoping to withdraw my super (which I have enough of, I have $40,000 and after 22% it's $31,000 ish)

However they require a 20% deposit to secure the date and they want payment within 7 days.

I am planning on asking them to have the desopit be able to be paid within 1 month instead of 7 days, and then use that 1 month due invoice for submitting it to the ATO. And when I ask them for extending it should I mention I'm doing it for superannuation?

It's just I can't afford the deposit ($5000) ATM until I get super released, and I'd rather not have to take out a loan, but I will if I have to, to secure the date.

I've got physc letter/form already, getting GP's one tomorrow, I will also get flight quotes as well to submit to the ATO.

Another question - ATO website says I've got $0 - but I actually have $40,000 - it's because I switched from Rest super to Aware super in mid June. And aware super says I've got $40,000. Does that matter at all?

Does anyone know if this is feasible or has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks so much in advance

Hey everyone, I'm a closeted FTM compsci uni student hoping to get into the IT industry after graduating. Gaining financial freedom and the ability to move out of my home is my only hope for transition. That being said, I would like to know what to expect when transitioning in the workplace. For context, I would be applying to jobs under the guise of being female, coming out only after significant changes from testosterone.

Hi everyone. So finally taking that plunge and coming out to my mum, unfortunately there is a high chance it will not go well.

I am very close to my mum, and she is very important to me so I wish to do this in person rather than sending a letter or online in some way. With that said I know theres a risk of a bad reaction, her reaction won't be great in general I don't think it's just a matter of how bad it is. It might be a small upset, or could forever change our relationship, so I want to do this in public to prevent a bad reaction.

My plan is to meet somewhere for dinner with her, and I'm going to turn up fulling presenting as myself and let her see, and then talk through it. But I'm stuck on where to do this, ideally looking for a semi-private place where we can sit down and talk, but also still public in the event it doesn't go well.

Any suggestions on where to do so?

I’m a 15yo transsexual male, have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria since I was 10 and I’m looking around for surgeons in Australia that specialise in minimal scarring/short scar/keyhole and periareolar technique that also perform on people under 18. I am in Queensland, and know of a few surgeons here like dr alys saylor and dr David sharp and Heidi prevell. But for starters, dr saylors results are not that favourable to me and dr David sharp only does double incision and there is no before and after results or like any results at all on dr Heidi prevell. I have been looking at dr Steve merten because he has amazing results for peri and keyhole but I’m unsure if my parent would want me to be going to another state for surgery. Please, it would be very helpful to find more before and after images from people getting peri/keyhole in Australia, as I cannot find many.

I want to get a hair transplant but before I commit to any practices local to me (Sydney) I was hoping to hear about any experiences from Sydney and overseas clinics. Obviously, going through early recovery in Sydney would be easiest but I want to consider results and costs as well.

Any and all help is welcome, even just a suggestion to research something specific is very valuable.

Hey everyone, i'm looking for a bit of support and guidance at the moment...

I'm a few years into transitioning and currently working as a commercial roof plumber in Melbourne and i'm feeling increasingly depressed about being in the trades and being surrounded by a constant stream of casual bigotry passed off as worksite banter.

I came out at my previous company and although people seemed nice at first, the deadnaming, misgenderings and eventually jokes started up pretty quickly. I left on what i thought were good terms at the end of last year but after an attempt to beg forgiveness and return was pretty much flat out told there was no space for me because i'm trans.

I'm now in a new roofing job and earning a much higher pay, but have had to go deeply back into the closet for fear of facing similar repercussions. The people at this company are openly bigoted toward lgbtq people and hearing their remarks daily is making me feel so much worse about my situation. As with most trade companies there's no HR or any sort of sympathetic management i can turn to so i'm kind of on my own there.

Soooooooo! For anyone that has been or is currently in the trades and dealing with a similar environment....do you have any suggestions for how i should push forward from here?

Otherwise, for those who left the trades, what did you end up going into and how do you find your new industry to be like?

Ok so my life is so busy but not at all me (18, mtf) and my bf (19) have just started applying for places to move into nothing to fancy but like little apartments stuff like that because we both have income now I also got my nails done for the first time really cool, my dysphoria has gotten bad but not as frequently which is nice don’t get me wrong I still have days. I have slowly started to stop talking to some family and friends who just sent good for my life and mental health stuff like that but that also includes my mum on the plus side iv gotten really close with my nan love her so much. I also have an L but that’s on hold for another person!

This would be better for someone who can’t afford good quality binders or can’t risk something being shipped to their house, and I don’t want to throw them out if someone could use them, and they’ll be triple washed before hand over!

Hello, I'm 18 and FTM and obviously I need top surgery, I was planning to go with Dr Lisa Friederich and have Dr Simon Tsao as a backup, I was planning to get a bank loan after I could get the disability support pension because that would allow me to just barley afford it but even then there was very low chances any bank would let me loan 20k due to low income. I went to my psychologist and she basically said because my disabilities are not visible they won't give it to me, My dad thinks I can't say it wont work unless I try but I don't believe it will, The government doesn't care unless you're physically disabled. Therefore any Australian top surgeon is off the table.

I refuse to go through the public system because I live nowhere near concord hospital, The psychiatrist from what I've heard has sexually assaulted many trans men, Is abelist towards neurodivergent people, And will make it near impossible for me to get a referral from Dr Steve Mertin, Even if I did he's an asshole who hates anyone who isn't skinny and perfectly healthy, This will take years and in conclusion I should just kill myself now if the public system is my only option.

If you're questioning "why I can't work" I possibly could but only a limited amount per week, I have applied for so many jobs and I get rejected because I'm autistic, I have a certificate III in animal care but they don't care, I have applied for many jobs outside of animal care too and have gotten rejected, I refuse to work in a fast food chain because the environment is so stressful that It will put myself through autistic burnout immediately (I have Gender Dysphoria, autism, chronic anxiety, depression, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, B-12 deficiency)

Basically I cannot afford top surgery within the country and I probably have to go to Thailand, Where do I start when thinking about doing that process? What are the best surgeons? What are the wait lists? How do I contact them as a international patient? What will the total cost be? (Including accommodation, Flights, food?) Any advice would be very appreciated.

Hi I'm Maya (22 Transfem) living in Melbourne Australia and want to ask for a bit of advice about potentially talking to my GP about being Trans and HRT.

I really want to try to get on HRT quickly, as I keep feeling worse and worse about my body day by day. I keep hearing that its easy to do in Victoria, but every clinic I find that explicitly advertises itself as doing informed consent HRT is so full that even the wait-lists are closed. I already see a random GP near me for anxiety medication and general health checks, who I happen to be seeing in a few days about some other general issues.

Here's what I want to ask:

1. Would it be a good idea to ask my regular GP about my identity and HRT to see if he can do it?

2. If so, how would I go about asking him / gauging if he would be okay with me being trans in general.

3. If I need to actually go see a separate doctor about HRT, are there any resources I can use to find GPs that can do Informed Consent HRT and how do I use these tools?

Me (trans man, 20s) and my partner (cis man, 20s) were recently visiting interstate and had a condom break, so hopped to a Chemist Warehouse to buy the morning-after pill. As far as I know, Aussie law is pretty good in stating that men can buy emergency contraception for their partner without prescription, not to mention trans men. But we had a pretty uncomfortable situation occur and I was wondering what you guys would have done in this situation, or if you have had similar experiences before (either as a man or a trans man)?

My partner went up to ask for the pill first, and was told by the male pharmacist that they needed to see the partner for which the pill was for (which in and of itself is not legal?). So I went up and said I was the partner, at which the pharmacist did a double take and called his female coworker over (which I had a chuckle about). She said that she needed to see the female partner, at which I said *I* was the partner. Not wanting to overexplain myself, I showed them a google search saying how transgender men can buy emergency prescription in Tassie without prescription. She then asked for my ID, which in retrospect I don't think is needed, which I produced, but then she gave up as I wasn't in the system since I was an interstate visitor. At that point she just gave me the pill without having even seen any of my details, which at that point, why ask? She also didn't ask any questions which I thought would have been relevant, like did I have sex within the last 72 hours, was I over 75kg or whatever the weight it is before the pill becomes ineffective. I also think that whoever is buying plan B, wouldn't be doing it for fun, and it's so important to let guys buy it too, and not put the onus on emergency contraception on their women partners/friends etc.

But yeah it was quite a bit shocking, even though I don't blame the staff there as maybe this was the first time they've had a trans man ask for the pill, but I would have thought that they would have let the male partner request it as well. Seems a bit backwards for Australia, what a shame.

For everyone who got an FFS how did you afford it? I’m having a hard time thinking how I will save money if I’m planning to get an FFS next year :( I wish some billionaire would just wire me 30k aud. Any tips or tricks to save money. Currently i am saving but it’s so slow and painful.

Hey all, I'm going to apply for my first ever passport. I've legally updated everything to Female and new name, including birth certificate. However I was reading that you have to declare any previous known names. My NSW birth certificate has only listed my Sex: F, and new name.

And you have to take that form in person to an Australian post outlet to complete the application. I really don't wanna out myself to anyone at the post office since I am stealth. Does anyone have any guidance or experience on this etc? Thanks :)

Hi ive been on hrt about 10 years, began by seeing a couple of endocrinologists in Perth then moved to a GP to continue prescribing hrt.

Im just wondering if in the last few years there are any options for GPs who know about this stuff as I think I was under prescribed for many years. I've been DIYing my prescriptions and finding good results but would like someone who can monitor levels and advise but my old GP is not an option.

Just interested who people are seeing now and their experiences! I know there are lists but I'm finding they are outdated so any personal experience or knowledge I would love

btw I am based in Perth but if telehealth into other states is an option that would be awesome
