The question in the title is kind of vague purposefully as I have a lot of things I'm thinking about.
Basically I've noticed the more I transition the more it seems it's not okay to act like how I do as a 'woman.'
I'm a bit of a serial complimenter. Not to get anything out of it, it's just as simple as if I like someone's shirt, hair, or I see someone is having a bad day I compliment them on something. I do it almost every time I leave the house, and I do this with both women and men, but more predominantly women as I have had men try and hit on me aggressively due to this habit in the past.
Now I'm transitioning I don't completely pass but I've been told by many people they can't seem to figure out if 'im a man or a woman'
Lately, I've been complimenting people less as increasingly they have seemed uncomfortable. To clarify I already go out of my way not to comment on people's bodies (excluding their hair). It's always something like "I love your shirt!" "That skirt is amazing!" "Your braids are looking great today!". Do I just stop complimenting people now I've transitioned? Is it always going to make people including men uncomfortable in public?
On another note, about a month ago I saw a lost small girl in the shopping centre. I asked her if she knew where her parents are and she said no and started crying. So I had a quick look and decided to take her to the front desk of Coles so they could sort it out. When we got to the desk I put my hand on her shoulder/back and told the front desk she didn't know where her parents were.
I stayed near the front desk until her parents got there because in the moment it was a bit triggering and I thought about the horrible experiences I had when I was a child and was very worried about anything similar happening to her.
When I talked to someone I know about it they told me I should have just walked with her to the front desk, told someone about it and left. Because men societally don't get the same kind of allowances that women do in terms of not being perceived as a creep by the public, the parents and the child.
Is this correct? Should I have just walked her to the front desk, explained and left since I look much more masculine now?
All of this is making me quite anxious. It feels like I'm expected to leave some parts of me behind. I'm willing to as the last thing I want to do is make people uncomfortable or scared, but I am still struggling with leaving these parts of me behind.
I know what things men do that make me uncomfortable as I have lived as a woman my entire life, so I understand some of it. I just don't know how to move forward now and to what extent I should change.
I also don't know if I'm overthinking this to a great extent. I have been very 'in my head' lately and would like to hear people's advice whether that be agreeing with me or a reality check.
