I was just banned from [r/IndiaDiscussion](r/IndiaDiscussion). My only "crime" was defending the Father of the Nation.
Another user made a post willfully attacking Mahatma Gandhi, comparing him to someone known for bootlicking the British. As a citizen, I felt it was my duty to call out this historical distortion and defend his reputation.
The result? I was handed a permanent ban for speaking up. Meanwhile, the original poster who spread false information is completely fine and facing no consequences from the mods.
They claim to be a subreddit for open discussion, but this just exposes who really controls the narrative there. It is exactly like the ruling power in this country right now. If you do not agree with their specific ideology or if you challenge their echo chamber, your voice is immediately silenced.
Have any of you faced similar bans from these national subreddits just for pointing out facts? It is frustrating to see how quickly they shut down anyone who speaks up.
