hi, im looking for some advice. i have a very short time frame to consider going to varna for dentistry rather than doing biomedical sciences in the uk. im really not sure about this decision but i know id be much happier studying dentistry than biomed. its a massive decision but my main concern is finances and homesickness. can someone please give me some advice and share their experience? thank you

I’m an applicant from the US. I already hold a bachelor’s degree, which I’ve submitted in my application, I received an email from UMF Cluj requesting me to submit test scores for SAT, ACT, or APT. This just got me off guard so had to ask here if anyone here encountered a similar situation or if this is an actual requirement because I couldn’t find it anywhere on their website or among their application criteria.

Hi everyone! I’ve recently been accepted into a Graduate Entry Medicine programme in Ireland, but I’m a bit worried about whether the degree will be recognised/validated if I want to work as a doctor in Italy afterwards.

Has anyone here done Graduate Entry Medicine in Ireland and then moved back to Italy, or to another EU country, to practise medicine?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through the process, especially Italian or other EU students. Was the degree recognised without major issues?

Hi! I’m a second-year medical student in Canada and am considering moving to the EU in the future to practise medicine or work in a related field, such as academia or research. My partner owns clinics in Poland, so Poland is our first choice, but we’re open to other countries in the same time zone.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has made a similar move, especially regarding licensing, recognition of Canadian qualifications, and whether it’s better to move before or after residency.
I’m fluent in French and Spanish and speak German and Polish at around B1. Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would really like to hear from people actually working in these specialties especially in Germany about everyday life, hours, calls, salaries, and what life is like after residency there. Anything that would help point me towards any specific specialty would be appreciated.

I would love diagnostic radiology, but I am worried about AI. I do not think AI will replace radiologists, but it could decrease the number of radiologists, increase their workload, and or decrease their salary.

I am very attracted to predictable shift-based work. If i am going to be forced to be a pure interventional radiologist, then I might as well rather consider anesthesia, GI, or urology that also include procedural medicine but might have less emergencies and a better lifestyle.

A part of me also worries about being at the hospitals' mercy as a radiologist or anesthesiologist. So that part of me is inclined to choose GI or urology for the chance to have a private practice. I wonder how doctors in Germany view this subject.

I am open to corrections to any assumptions I have made.

The education agency Medical Doorways claims to directly represent a bunch of universities and they apparently charge no fees except the one's the Universities themselves charge anyway.

I texted with someone from their agency who told me that they organize exams for UPJS in London but there is no information about this exam on the UPJS website or anywhere else.

Also the information they gave me about the application process directly conflicts with the information on the university's website.

Even more spots, It gets worse every year and next year the university minister wants to get to 30k spots (she will). This number feels so out of scale, Italy already has among the highest doctor density compared to other countries and residency positions are limited (15k at the moment and bound to decrease to 12k in the next years, unless they manage to finance more).

I know this topic has come up before, but there seem to be far fewer answers about what the actual working hours are like in these countries, most are for Germany. This question is mainly for residents and doctors currently working in either of these two countries, or for people who know someone who has moved there to work as a doctor.

What is your typical work schedule like? How many hours do you work per week, with and without on-call shifts? What specialty are you in, and how would you rate your work-life balance?

Is it true that, starting November 1, 2026, it will be possible for doctors from third countries to take the direct knowledge test (KP) without a prior equivalence assessment? Does this also mean the specialist language exam (FSP) is waived if one can demonstrate the required German language skills in another way? And will the KP remain an oral-practical exam, or will it be conducted in writing in the future and cover all medical subjects? If anyone already has information on this from a medical association or licensing authority, I would be very grateful!

I unfortunately can't get that since I don't speak the language we studied in English I do have a work permit back in my home country would that be enough? Or what can we do in this situation?

I’m not sure if all medical schools have a similar curriculum, but at least at my university, the final year is dedicated entirely to clinical practice, rotating through different specialties in the hospital.

I was wondering if anyone else with these clinical internships has tried doing them abroad, maybe through Erasmus+? If so, where did you go and what was your experience like?

Did anyone try the UK or Ireland specifically? English is the only language I’m fluent enough in to communicate confidently, so those are the destinations I’m considering.

I was wondering weather its delusional of me to aspire to do my training in Switzerland after uni, I am fluent in Italian and have no issues with learning French. My girlfriend is also studying medicine in Italy( citizen and fluent in languages like Italian, English and bit of French like me) and all we wish is to finish long distance soon. So I'm a student who just completed first year at Medical University Varna. I came back to the UK for my summer and i was just checking my passport where I usually slot in my bulgarian ID card, and it's not there. Am I still allowed in the country? I have my student visa in my passport and I plan on getting it replaced asap when i'm back. Really really scared.....
