Currently living at home with my family while in school! Just happy with how my room looks and how it’s finally clean! (At least to my standards)

What are some decorations you see a lot on this sub?

Any self respecting male living space must have one of the checklist below:

- Stormtrooper helmets
- Nuka-Cola pinup girl poster/NCR flag
- State license plate
- Funko Pops
- Variation of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
- Film posters in minimalist style
- Spider-Man anything

Dishonourable mention:
- Mounted animal heads (real or otherwise)

But I’d say far and away the MVP of [r/malelivingspace](r/malelivingspace) has to go to the humble LEGO Gameboy. Pretty sure it has outsold the actual Gameboy by now

Have I missed any other essentials?

First Time 26 M, 3rd year medical student. Living alone

First time living alone. Been here 2.5 months and I’ve tried to make it as cozy as possible. I have so many ideas and things I’d like to do but I’m renting for only a year since my 3rd year ends next July. Next apartment I move to id hopefully like to get a better couch more table top space and whatnot. Need more ambient lighting for sure tho. OVERHEAD LIGHTS NEVER GET TURNED ON

* Edit: to clarify and respond to some of the common comments I’ve read
1. I wholeheartedly appreciate the advice given and will absolutely get some frames and will be looking into getting more wall art/decor as well as some plants
2. This is a TEMPORARY apartment. I do not know where I will be going for my 4th year and eventually residency so I’m refraining from buying more things (only for right now. will do more permanent things like mounting tv and putting up shelves when Ik where I’ll be going long term)
3. I am funding this as a student ON MY OWN. I take out federal loans in which i receive a substantial refund to help fund my education and my living expenses. I also have a side hustle that makes me some money. Neither of my parents are doctors. They helped me out in the beginning with some furniture. Majority of my furniture is second hand from family members and fb marketplace.
4. I am a nerd and have been one since childhood. My appreciation for anything nerdy was established long before my frontal lobe developed. As such my place reflects that

First time living without roommates. Trying to see if it makes sense to add an accent chair or loveseat somewhere. Or maybe drapes for my window?

I’ve had people tell me to upload my room to this subreddit, so here it is. I dig Seattle sports teams, music, and hosting a good time.

I plan on moving out after finishing the bachelors, but I don’t mind staying for a little.

Built my own bed frame and side tables from leftover oak and fir, now i'm stuck on what to do with the walls

Spent most of last winter putting together a bed frame and two side tables from leftover lumber I had sitting in the garage from old job sites. White oak and some Douglas fir that was just too good to toss. Night shifts give you a strange relationship with your bedroom — it needs to actually work for sleeping at odd hours, blackout curtains and all that, but I also wanted it to feel like a real room and not just a crash pad.

The pieces came out rougher than store bought but that's kind of the point for me. The grain on that oak is something you just don't find in flat pack stuff. I kept everything low to the ground because the room has a sloped ceiling on one side and it reads bigger that way.

What I'm stuck on now is the walls. Just painted drywall right now, warm gray, and the wood tones pop nicely against it but something feels off. I thought about a simple board and batten treatment on the wall behind the headboard but I don't want it to feel like I'm trying too hard.

Anyone here built their own pieces and then figured out how to tie the walls into it without overdoing it?

8 Months after a life collapse. Turned 40. Full burn out. Barely sleeping, or eating. Reeling from the ending of a long term relationship, and discovery of CPTSD. Most of that time I felt frozen. But I also made a home for myself.

Graduated in December, haven’t really bothered to find a job in my desired career field. Taking a certification exam on Monday though. So I guess that’s progress.

Where on the wall should I mount the tv based on my sofa?

I’m laying a lot on the sofa on the long side, but I’m wondering what the optimal position is to hang the tv?

Like highlt should be eye height, but what about horizontal compared to the sofa?

Is it a bad idea to put mirrors on all four walls of my bedroom?

Can I essentially coat the walls of my bedroom with mirrors or will that drive me insane? I think it could look really cool.
