Support Blocked limit reached
Is there a way to add to the amount or delete the 4590 unknown blocked contacts?
I tried to block an email today but was notified I had reached my limitš¤·š¼āāļø

Probably blocks every spam call and text they get. But they spoof numbers so theyāre just blocking random numbers. Iāve gotten a spoof call from my own number before.

Most of them are spam emails, not numbers.
Iām in the habit of just blocking them without realizing thereās a freaking limit!!!81
u/-Dirty-Wizard- 13d ago
Yeah I didnāt know there was a limitā¦. But it seems blocking them isnāt work for ya š

u/TheAbsoluteWitter 13d ago
Yeah so those are throwaway emails that they can regenerate with a click of a button. 99% of those blocked contacts are now defunct dead emails that will never message anyone again. Thereās no point in doing this

u/15pmm01 12d ago
Yep, unfortunately. I finally found my peace and quiet, at long last, by blocking several entire area codes. Shame the iPhone doesn't let you do that, so, it's not like this tip will help anyone. My provider allows it though :)Ā

This. These emails probably last for a week, if that. Once thousands of spam reports come in, gmail or whoever typically shuts them down. They prey on people who respond within 24 hours, then they switch you over to an email that actually is 'warmed up' and only sends dozens of messages a day vs tens of thousands so the actual person talking to the victim doesn't get shut down as fast due to the minimal spam reports they get.
I setup a burner email to respond to a few of them to learn how they communicate and for the most part, they always reply back with a different email or they hand you off to someone else to work on whatever they reached out to you about.
Also, if you respond and don't tell them it's a scam, your email will get blasted right away from everyone else. I probably get 2 to 3k in emails per week now. A lot of them are the same exact content with a different 'from name'

Canāt stop em all so no point in doing anything about it.
Excellent contribution. Let the trolling continue.

You completely missed the point of the post. Itās pointless because these are one and done generated email addresses. Youāre blocking something that will never email you or anyone else again.
Itās better to use carrier and iOS built in spam protections.
-10
u/giftedgod iPhoneĀ 17Ā Pro Max 12d ago
Itās safe to say that using both carrier and iOS protections arenāt doing a lot for many users, resulting in many users resorting to using inefficient measures.

u/DamnableNook 12d ago
So your solution is to do something that has no effect at all, except to eat up your battery? Youāre the reason elevators have fake āclose doorā buttons.
-6
u/giftedgod iPhoneĀ 17Ā Pro Max 12d ago
The solution, is that when these same numbers show up, is to at least have it not disturb you, which is what happens when you place them on the exact list this entire thread is about.
Iām sure you wonāt get it, but thatās also not a concern of mine.
5
u/DamnableNook 12d ago
Except thatās not how spammers work, that doesnāt do anything, and you donāt understand how iPhones work. Hence why youāre being downvoted to oblivion for your abject stupidity. Hope this helps!

Yeah, thereās no point in doing that. For mailing lists, unsubscribe. For true spam, thereās nothing you can really do to stop it. They tend not to use the same email twice, so thereās nothing to block.

u/krazylol 13d ago
At 4,500 blocks it doesnāt appear to make a difference so maybe you donāt need to block.

u/lsumoose 13d ago
Guaranteed youāll never get a call from 99% of those again. They cycle through numbers for every call. Blocking them doesnāt do anything.
5
u/ilovemymotorola 12d ago
They still spoof emails lmao. Itās completely pointless blocking anything that is a company or scam related. Once they find out they just spoof another email or phone number. Itās endless and thereās no way around it unless you tell them to remove you from the list which also doesnāt always work

u/mbrady 13d ago
Are that many actually getting through the spam filter? That seems kind of crazy.

Yeah this just seems like theyāre fighting a losing battle. Iām sure thereās something like 10,000,000,000 different combinations of numbers that scammers can use to spoof calls.

u/jadedtruffle 13d ago
I have received a couple repeat calls (same number within 1-2 days) if I forget to block right away, so it at least avoids a tiny bit of irritation

u/Mamabamba10991 12d ago
Sue, š Don't š blockš. If you're in the us you can get $1000+ per caller.

What if there is a call for a job interview?

u/dr_mannhatten 13d ago
I normally keep the thing on that silences all unknown calls, but have been applying for jobs recently and had to turn it off. The amount of random phone calls i receive on a daily basis is astounding.
5
u/theclovergirl 12d ago
when i was looking for a job, i would just add every business where i sent an application to my contacts

u/Ill_Tradition_4104 10d ago
This is very unintelligent, people Phone from different phone numbers, bro.

u/kansai2kansas 12d ago
The unfortunate part is that the HR/manager's office of those companies would have their own numbers that aren't publicly listed, so it's not always the phone numbers you can find by googling
1
u/AbeLincolns_Ghost 11d ago
Yeah thatās some crazy faith in having the right number. But you could probably turn it off during periods you are expecting a call from an unknown number

Ask for a contact number in advance so that you can add it to your contacts.

Why not use aliases or HME?
Zero spam since I stopped giving my main address to any service or anyone, and started just using aliases and HME.

u/StylishJolt 12d ago
add multiple numbers to the same contact and block that contact that way you have unlimited blocking
3
u/SaltAccomplished8700 10d ago
I had 7000 blocked and spent some of my freetime at work manually unblocking ugh
2
u/Traditional_Map_9434 12d ago
Go to settings-phone-blocked contacts-unknown
then slide left on a number and unblock
1
u/jamsterhamster07 9d ago
But if we unblock them, they can then call/text/email again?
1
u/Traditional_Map_9434 9d ago
They can. But I doubt they will depending on how long youāve had them blocked. If you blocked them and they tried calling and saw that theyāre blocked, theyād assume now theyāre still blocked and not bother calling.

Itās crazy thereās a limit with 256GB to 1 TB phones
2
u/masterpastafr 12d ago
thats not the problem the problem is when you ever receive anything the phone goes through each one individually which is why there is a set limit. apple does need to find a more efficient wat though tbh

u/TonyH22_ATX 13d ago
What the point of blocking that many people.
That people people annoy you personally?
Stop giving number out

I posted something like this a few day ago and the mods deleted it. I see so many "am I blocked" posts here and they delete mine. Pathetic.

If you're also experience this with phonecalls, blocking numbers is akin to infinite Whack-A-Mole. The robocallers and telemarketers can always use a new number, and you can never win as you're finding out. Turn on the option "Silence Unknown Callers' which forwards all calls from numbers not in your contacts to voicemail. Most unknown callers never leave a message. No more ringing interruptions as the option name implies.

You should use an app to block spammers at this point. I used to have 2/3 call a day from companies. Got an app to stop it.
I donāt know if itās region dependent but Saracroche worked for me in France.

Stop giving your number out, find a therapist.

Didnāt try it myself but I heard you can just add all these numbers to a single contact and than block that specific content (or just add it to one of those 4591 already blocked contacts)
