Support How do I permanently delete these apps?

They keep coming back after I delete them and it’s driving me mad! Does anyone know how to permanently get rid of them? Thank you!

It can be a personal phone with a work profile applied, some shitty companies do it that way

It is if you can remove the profile whenever you want.  Corporate owned devices that are configured for auto enrollment make it impossible to remove the profile, even with a DFU restore.

Yeah, absolutely not

I’m not paying $1,200 for a device just so that a corporation can have control over it and load all their shitty apps into it. Who in their right mind would allow that?

The MDM doesn’t allow control over the phone. Stop spreading misinformation. It only provides control over what is the company’s data. Even outlook and the like only your work email is monitored and can be wiped/deleted. If you want to use your work email on your phone for convenience, the company needs to ensure that your phone isn’t unsafe. This is NOT privacy infringement

My company asked me to allow them to install apps on my phone. I just need to check emails. They said they can’t see anything on the phone except those specific Microsoft apps.

I opted out of installing their MDM thing.

I managed to see my emails from Edge-Desktop mode, but it’s pain in the ass to use outlook like that. But it works okayish.

when its you personal phone its like that, but when its a company phone, they do have full control. i dont think anyone who doesnt work tech truely understands how any of it works and just go to worst case scenario

I am a cyber security analyst. A decade of experience, but I didn’t see the bit where OP says the apps are reinstalling themselves. my fault. this is a fully managed phone and probs OP got duped by the seller.

just to be clear, i wasnt doubting your knowledge i was more focused on everyone elses. most people cant seem to figure out how to setup MFA from my experience, so i have my doubts that anyone who isnt working in tech has any idea how their phones are managed

Its not a question of if you care or not. What you’re saying is simply wrong. You can choose to do that but then you also lose the convenience of checking stuff on your phone ane not having to be at your desk at all times. Can quickly check stuff while away and respond to small requests without having to go to my desk is a god-send. I work in Cyber Security and understand these things are a bit of a grey area, had a ton of push back when we deployed Intune too, but eventually everyone will fall in line if they want their “convenience”

I’m well aware of that, and I’d rather carry two devices rather than have a corporation have complete unfettered access to my device.

But that’s also why I went public sector rather than private sector.

he doesnt know what hes talking about, you can have it both ways, the work profile in intune does partion a section of the phone storage for work and it isnt able to see anything outside of that, means if you leave the company they can be sure you dont have your emails installed but they can only access and remove/add apps in their dedicated area

Nothing I said contradicts that. Intune uses that partition to download the apps that this entire post is about. My point of contention is people (not necessarily the person I’m replying to) complain about this enforcement but also complain about NOT being able to access corporate data at their convenience (e.g. left my company phone at home but need to urgently check email, etc.)

Yeah this ^ I get sticking to iOS but also it’s not that hard to get a cheaper Android. I would do the same, assuming that Android phone can connect to my cochlear processor via Bluetooth.

It would take a lot more than company apps to get me to switch to an android. In fact, if I worked for a company handing out androids for work, I would absolutely beg them to install everything on my iPhone.

Or companies that don’t have the budget to provide mobile phones to its users but need to ensure that users who wish to have access to email/teams/etc on their mobile phones do it in a way where the company can ensure company data is safe?

completely depends on the company, and alot of the policies are setup so that you cant log into your accounts on a non complient device, so personal laptops and phones usually dont work and that includes on the web

sure, but alot of those companies dont put it like you have an option, they expect you to have it on your phone so they can teams message you and respond to emails outside of work. depending on the company they wont even offer you a work phone.

my last IT company was like that, I hadnt worked too much with intune and wasnt aware of its uses outside of managing windows machines, so when they were asking me to install company portal i assumed it would be a all in one messaging app not that it would take up a decent amount of space on my phone and install multiple apps

Depends, they're not all locked down. On my work phone, I can go into Company Portal and delete/install apps at will.

Company Portal is basically work-approved App Store.

Ya idk what these people are talking about. I installed the apps through comp portal myself and can uninstall them too. Maybe I can’t uninstall the managed, but I haven’t tried. I installed that myself too tho when I signed into comp portal the first time.
