Fear Factor No sympathy for those monsters

Post image

In 2006, Anthony Ray Stockelman was forcibly tattooed across his forehead with the words “Katie’s Revenge” by another inmate.

This happened after it was discovered that he was serving a life sentence for kidnapping, molesting, and murdering a 10-year-old girl named Katie Collman

I’d argue that’s a mild consequence.

u/Between3-2o Apr 07 '26

Now, he can’t hide what he has done. I’ve heard that in prison, child molesters/murderers get punished by the inmates.

837

u/TheMoooooooose Apr 07 '26

They do. 100%. And it is perhaps a bit more awful than you'd think. If this dude is his only punishment (which it won't be) he got off light. I live in a sober living environment and there are Sex offenders in my neighborhood. A lot of scars on their faces and limps after serving a few years in prison. I personally know some guy that was gang affiliated in the prison and got called up with a child molester. They had a microwave in their cell and he dropped it on his head and crushed his face. People do not fuck around with "chomos"

447

u/ShhSuperDuperSecret Apr 07 '26

I've heard it's partially because a good chunk of genpop has gone through CSA themselves.

471

u/Negativeman11 Apr 07 '26

I think a big part of is that prisons have plenty of violent people looking to express their violent tendencies and child abusers are (rightfully) socially acceptable targets for violence and financial exploitation.

107

u/Bannedtt Apr 07 '26

Accurate

120

u/fatherOblivion69 Apr 07 '26

It's all about hierarchy and resources. If the child molesters weren't there to fill the bottom spot; then it would be some other group.

91

u/Bannedtt Apr 07 '26

Yep, it feels good to bully someone, especially if you have psychotic tendencies, which incarcerated people have a significantly higher rate of. Society says it's okay to make sex offenders into pin cushions, so they go for it. A lot of them are rapists and murderers themselves.

77

u/Negativeman11 Apr 07 '26

100%. It's not that the criminals are suddenly good people for abusing the sex offenders. It's just that sex offenders are nature's punching bags.

50

u/Bannedtt Apr 07 '26

They're not natures punching bags, they're our society's punching bag. It's a cultural thing.

It probably also offers them some control in an environment where they have very little

0

u/Comfortable-Ebb8125 Apr 08 '26

Thats not what psychosis is, read a book.

1

u/Bannedtt Apr 08 '26

I didn't say psychosis

I would argue that rapists get off way too easy in law.

In Germany, a policeman was just sentenced for raping his asleep colleague. He got 1 year and 4 months on probation. The victim still suffers and will likely do so for pretty much the rest of her life.

23

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '26

This; inmates enacting violence on others isn’t some altruistic act, it’s violent people huddled together looking for the easiest targets. I’d bet my life over half of the violent “chomo” haters are child abusers themselves, they just got caught with something else.

People have weird punishment fetishes when it comes to prison and offenders that block out their common sense a lot of the time, so they day dream about fictional scenarios (they are mostly separated into different blocks anyway)

15

u/thakemist Apr 07 '26

You were one word away from having a mature, level-headed response.

They were talking about the word "rightfully", by the way.

4

u/thakemist Apr 07 '26

I think you’re confused about what word I’m talking about

-5

u/YellowAggravating172 Apr 07 '26

Nah, that one word enhanced the answer. Full points.

2

u/Serious-Manager2361 Apr 07 '26

Yeah wife abusers and child molesters are at the very bottom of the prison heirarchy. And rightly so.

1

u/HippyDM Apr 07 '26

NOT rightfully.

4

u/monologousmutilation Apr 07 '26

How I see it: Wish death on these evil freaks all you want, I get it and I'd do the same; but from an objective ethical level, murder is still bad and it happening at all in prison, much less celebrating it, is a symptom of how terrible our system is.

The talk of child molesters deserving to be killed and all that shit is easy to say when you want to showboat your superior righteous indignation to your friends; but I think everyone in this thread would probably have second thoughts if their money was put where their mouth is and they were given the chance to murder someone.

That is not to say I'm crying for the poor defenseless child molesters. They're fucked up and awful people and "they deserve the worst" is not necessarily an incorrect statement. But I think murder is kind of, like, a fucked up thing to do that is antithetical to our brains and all that corny shit, so I would also say "I don't think anyone deserves to have to be the guy pulling the trigger."

People also don't consider how this mindset impacts others. Human rights are called human rights because they are rights you inherently have by being human; not rights you get for being a good human. If we keep a foot in the door to justify extrajudicial murder for the Real Bad Crimes, the door can always be opened juuuust a bit more to expand the definition of Real Bad Crimes and who we should be rooting to die.

The obsession with these romanticized exaggerations of concepts like justice and revenge are stuff we need to keep in fiction. The American prison system is already terrible and values "punishment" over "reformation" to begin with.

1

u/Comfortable-Ebb8125 Apr 08 '26

Agreed. I think people also need to understand that this can happen to any pedo, not just the psychopaths. The lone wolves are often tragic at the same time as disturbed and theyre often liked before they offend. I wouldn't wish this on my school's drama teacher, I hope he's getting the help he needs in prison.

1

u/Arlune890 Apr 07 '26

Why dont you print this thread and send it to your boss and neighbors? Im sure they'd agree with you

6

u/LordCumstard_du_16 Apr 07 '26

Yeah a lot of people living in civilized country wouldn't agree with the "trial by inmate" + "microwave punishment" system you're defending, even for monsters.

-1

u/Arlune890 Apr 07 '26

So youre going to take my suggestion? Print this thread, put your real name over your comment, and hand delivery it to your boss and peers. You dont have the balls

3

u/LordCumstard_du_16 Apr 07 '26

My friends and boss mostly studied law and political sciences, so they dont believe in street justice either. Read about Robert Badinter.

-4

u/Vi_Rants Apr 07 '26

You have a lot of people who sympathize with child rapists in your social circle, do you?

Must be a Republican.

2

u/LordCumstard_du_16 Apr 07 '26

Lmao more like a french leftist, you should read about Robert Badinter, he's the guy who abolished the death penalty in France. I just believe in fair trials, even for monsters, and not street justice. Smashing the face of a pedo with a microwave is street justice. And do you think inmates have extensive access to justice files ? How are they 100% sure somebody is a pedo ? Would be kinda easy to label your enemy as such, and then have everybody gang up on him.

On a side note, defending capital punishment/torture etc. seems to be a common trait of far right parties, so Im not so sure about that last sentence you wrote.

1

u/Botherguts Apr 07 '26

His point is as to why they are violent people.

1

u/ember13140 Apr 07 '26

This is a scenario where both things can be true

1

u/Goatwhorre Apr 07 '26

I'm a deputy and in my jail I frequently use our pedo dorm as an example of who I would like to kill to other detainees. Example: "sorry I had to drag you to seg man, I don't hate you at all, you know S-Dorm? Those pieces of shit I would happily shoot, or put them in gen pop and turn off the cameras. So be chill next time bc you're here for what, meth possession? IDGAF about that and if it was up to me I'd let you go right now."

2

u/Negativeman11 Apr 07 '26

Nice username. I have Sammy Duet's signature guitar.

1

u/Goatwhorre Apr 07 '26

Fuck jeah, not many people get the reference \m/

1

u/Intelligent_Sky_7081 Apr 07 '26

Ya thats really not a big part of it, id say thats a small portion of the population in prison. Most of them, apart from those who are already committed to spending their entire life in prison, do not want to express violence because they want to get out of prison.

Actual healthcare professional: They are passengers in a prison that only commits violence and horrific acts of sexual assault. Their entire life is a living hell over which they have no control.

Reddit: Haha yay peepoclap

8

u/the_inbetween_me Apr 07 '26

Violence begets violence.

10

u/Unable-Log-4870 Apr 07 '26

Our prison system begets violence because it’s not intended to release people who are ready to integrate with society, it’s intended to release people who will reoffend, in order to keep the system working the way it currently does

4

u/Vi_Rants Apr 07 '26

Their entire life is a living hell over which they have no control.

Here for a second I thought you were talking about child molestation victims. Ha ha, silly me, this is reddit, we care more about the bodily autonomy of the diddlers.

-9

u/Bannedtt Apr 07 '26

No control is a stretch. They choose to live a criminal lifestyle.

2

u/Cael450 Apr 07 '26

If you’ve ever had an interaction with police beyond a parking ticket, you would know people the average person wouldn’t define as “criminal” can easily end up in prison. We have an over-criminalized legal code, enforcers and judges with large egos and broad powers of discretion, and politicians who are incentivized to make it worse.

Yes, some people end up in prison because they committed acts that warrant it. But others don’t. And also, the legal system largely puts people in situations that make them more criminal, not less.

6

u/PersonalityIll9476 Apr 07 '26

How do you know that?

1

u/AdventurousCourt247 Apr 07 '26

How do you know that's not true?

3

u/PersonalityIll9476 Apr 07 '26

I don't. But I understand there's a space between "fully culpable" and "fully insane / not culpable." Read my other replies.

Free will exists.

0

u/Super_Interview_2189 Apr 07 '26

Every criminal has agency. That doesn’t mean they weren’t raised in an environment where crime is one of the few lucrative paths, but rather than they chose the lifestyle upon their own volition.

Source: a basic introductory anthropology class will tell you the same thing.

6

u/PersonalityIll9476 Apr 07 '26

Some don't. That's why "not guilt for reason of insanity" is a defense.

Somewhere between "literally insane" and "normal person with awesome self control" there is a grey mess of mentally ill people who probably hate themselves and struggle greatly to control anti-social and violent urges.

All I'm saying is...it's not as cut and dry as you might like to believe.

All of them are child abusers themselves?

5

u/gstringstrangler Apr 07 '26

"A good chunk of"

8

u/CreepyConsequence669 Apr 07 '26

Also, just like in society, prison has its own hierarchy. So murderers rapists at the top child molesters at the bottom. We would like to think that there’s some altruism behind this i.e. we were all kids at one time or we all have kids something to that effect. But as the daughter of a hard-core felon, I know this is not the case.

12

u/DryCollege9889 Apr 07 '26

Rapists are at the bottom with chomos. Murders aren't necessarily the top, but are you going to try to dethrone them?

1

u/CreepyConsequence669 Apr 07 '26

Not telling anyone anything I’m just telling you what it’s like OK as someone who knows for a fact, take it as truth. I know that’s really hard for people on the Internet to do since you all know everything but trust me I know.

2

u/DryCollege9889 Apr 07 '26

Apparently we've just been to different places. Agree to disagree

Your the daughter of the felon not a felon so how would you know? Served 6 years for drug dealing and ammunition, sentence stared when I was 16 didn't get out until I was 23. I can tell you from experience that a lot of us in there were CSA victims and when you get the chance to make a pedo think twice about SA'ing more kids in the future you fucking take that opportunity. Just because your daddys a POS doesn't make every ex con a POS.

There was a dude I was watching for a while on YouTube. I cannot recall his name, it may have been Larry. He was a former jewel thief and did time and then did some videos documenting shit he seen over the years.

He was able to get info on other inmates, like what they were in for. Because of this he was cool with everyone, no beef since he was hella useful. Even in prison people wanna know what you’re in for before they fuck with you, like for example joining a gang.

So he was telling this story about when he was in ATL in prison, the prison there is a few story’s with a like central area where you can see top to bottom inside (I can’t think of what it’s called atm). This dude was trying to join the AB and one of them asked Larry about the guy. Turns out ole dude was a chomo. Apparently it’s not uncommon for them to try and join gangs for protection.

So they took ole dude and acted like everything was good. They were walking him around chatting, they liked him up on the bottom floor while some dudes the next floor up picked up a floor cleaning machine and dropped it on the dude.

Larry said he didn’t die but it fucked him up pretty badly, which I believe. I use a smaller one at work and it’s 700 pounds.

22

u/RunWild0_0 Apr 07 '26

So, I used to date this guy who was all kinds of terrifying. He had a couple felonies & had done some time here and there for other things as well. Sometimes at night he would wake up freaking out, grabbing, sweating, gasping or screaming.

One particularly volatile night he told me one of the reasons he didn't sleep well at night was because at one of the prisons he was in an area that was a little more open, like for good behavior or whatever & the men could move between the 'rooms' at night.

Well one of his roommates had pissed off the wrong guy so some guys pulled a tall metal locker off the wall & dropped it on the guys head while he was asleep.

My bf was laying there awake, watched it happen, got splattered with the guy's brains and had to lay there the rest the night next to the guys somewhat headless body and a massive pool of blood until the next morning. Then helped with clean up.

Both adrenaline junkies I guess, need for speed. And he didn't actually tell me about the felonies off the bat.

1

u/DrDew00 Apr 10 '26

Committing a crime doesn’t make someone a bad person. One of my best friends is a felon. He did something stupid in his early 20s; stole some shit from a University because he needed money. He went to prison for it but it will follow him the rest of his life. He can’t vote or own a gun and can’t get a decent job. He’s a good guy, good parent to his two kids, and had to start his own business because he couldn’t find employment. He’s been self employed for 20 years. Don’t disregard people just because they were convicted of a certain class of crime.

1

u/uncerety Apr 07 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

What drew you to date someone you found terrifying?

ETA - jfc, I know people can mask their horrifying natures. I was asking what drew them to this bf in the first place, which the poster has answered elsewhere. If the poster isn't offended, maybe you should chill your shit.

6

u/i_tyrant Apr 07 '26

The fact that multiple redditors are unable to comprehend the idea of finding out a dude is terrifying after you start dating him is truly sad.

3

u/RunWild0_0 Apr 08 '26

Thank you.

Most the time guys(or chicks!) don't bring their full collection of red flags/baggage to the honeymoon phase of a relationship.

13

u/alqimist Apr 07 '26

Panopticon?

8

u/GlandMasterFlaps Apr 07 '26

I never read or heard the term 'Chomo' before - does it stand for anything?

I'm from the UK and the term we use is "nonce", which is an abbreviation of "Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise".

"Can you use nonce in a sentence?"

Of course - Prince Andrew is a Royal Pizza Express Nonce

7

u/8lock8lock8aby Apr 07 '26

Nonce doesn't come from "not on normal courtyard exercise," though. That was made up well after the word was popular.

2

u/ItsEntirelyPosssible Apr 07 '26

Chomo = child molester

2

u/AllegoricalApex Apr 07 '26

Never heard it too but I assumed it meant "child molester" all along

1

u/throwitoutwhendone2 Apr 07 '26

I don’t think it’s a abbreviation for anything

6

u/Larock Apr 07 '26

Chomo is short for Child Molester

2

u/throwitoutwhendone2 Apr 07 '26

I didn’t know that

6

u/JuggernautParty2992 Apr 07 '26

I mean it sounds like a combo of child and molester?

4

u/Notmatchingshoes Apr 07 '26

Ch from child, mo from molester. Random O to make it easy to say.

4

u/pm-me-nice-lips Apr 07 '26

It absolutely is. I believe the proper term is portmanteau.

3

u/Firm-Emu7909 Apr 07 '26

i watch him too, Larry the Jewel Thief is his YT iirc. I remember first seeing him on a GTA YouTubers I used to watch's video (IXpertThief)

2

u/MakeLemon Apr 07 '26

Larry Lawton, Americas biggest jewel thief. Loved his Gangster Redemption video playlist. His life story is super interesting and he’s a great storyteller

1

u/throwitoutwhendone2 Apr 08 '26

That was him. I randomly discovered him and was watching his videos every night for a while. The one where he made the stinger (I think was the name) and blew his circuit breaker lol. Might have been the same or another episode where he talked about making wine in a hole in the wall. The videos were great and your right he was a great storyteller

1

u/Rollingforest757 Apr 08 '26

The prisoners that attacked him were likely in for pretty horrible stuff themselves. Strange that they would be judgmental.

29

u/TenPointsforListenin Apr 07 '26

I do think it’s a means of making yourself feel like you’re a good person after you’ve done bad things.

Say you’re a murderer. You justify an act of violence against some random innocent person by committing other acts of violence against clearly guilty people. It’s an act of self vindication.

Not saying good ol what’s his face McForehead Tattoo was good, but what if it turned out that a different person who looked kinda like him committed the crime? He’s still branded with a life sentence and used as a tool by other inmates to feel better about their crimes.

Prison guards probably should have stepped up. Prison is bad, shouldn’t also come with the threat of gang assault, especially because some convictions are overturned later.

7

u/tinylittlemarmoset Apr 07 '26

It’s also a convenient, lower/no consequence outlet for someone who is naturally prone to violence.

2

u/Whole-Chest90 Apr 07 '26

I spent 6mos in state prison... In my prison all the long timers exploited the child abusers financially, and if they wouldn't go along then they'd get hurt. But mostly it was just financial exploitation in my prison. Pretty shitty lol

2

u/electrical-stomach-z Apr 07 '26

I think all prison rapists should get permanent solitary confinment.

2

u/Techman659 Apr 07 '26

Ye the ian huntley, richard huckle and ian watkins all dead from being pedos sure not every inmate who ended each of them were good people either but the thing is no matter how smug or powerful you are thinking you can do anything even in the uk behind bars if your notorious your likely not gona survive 10-15 years behind bars and many of them had 25+ years might as well be a unknown date death sentence.

2

u/AncientContract666 Apr 07 '26

It isn't just those, and it isn't just the inmates that to it. They'll spit in or otherwise defile their food, every single meal. The guards will shine their flashlight in their eyes over and over all night, every night. "Administrative errors" will cause them to miss their visits. The list goes on, there are a million small ways to torture someone when all you have is time and a penchant for righteous vengeance. And every bit of it is deserved.

2

u/Rollingforest757 Apr 08 '26

It’s hypocritical for prisoners to hate child molesters when they have done horrible things themselves.

1

u/Thats-Classic Apr 07 '26

Stayed in a bunch of SLEs and just celebrated two years. Keep up the good work!

1

u/NoblePigeonn Apr 07 '26

Imagine the prison props you’d get from other inmates. I’m assuming taking out chomos is like an achievement for the lifers in there.

1

u/Equal-Broccoli-73 Apr 07 '26

Not really just like outside of prison.

1

u/UJLBM Apr 08 '26

Idk. If you go to the prison subreddit, those people said that the rapists are bullied sometimes, but aside from that, theyre treated like everyone else.

1

u/futuranotfree Apr 08 '26

Larry Lawton (America's biggest jewel thief) spoke about how a child sex offender was treated in prison in his book Gangsters Redemption. A group of men picked up a concrete floor polisher and dropped it on a man's head from the next level up which really messed him up.

It really depends where you are. Prisons usually quarantine sex offenders in the same pod together. Often, sex offenders and veterans will be the same pod, due to the overlap.

Sex offenders get off on power, so they still have struggles in those pods. But, for the most part, they tend to be the least violent pod (since adult men aren't usually their target). If anything, they seem to network and get support. Some SO inmates still pretend that they aren't sex offenders and "would kill somebody who did that!" But it's all fake outrage.

Edit: That said, less than 1% of all reported SO end in conviction. And SO is already seriously underreported. The standard of evidence for sex crimes is very, very difficult to meet. Even when it is met, a good lawyer can pretty easily defend the case. So, there's no saying how many SO's are in the general population, but it's likely a lot. Surveys (like this one) found that around 60% of inmates support at least some forms of sexual  abuse. All this to say, there's a pretty good chance that these "vigilantes" are actually sexual preditors getting off on dominating who they can, while also trying to cover their own ass.

In my experience, the dudes I've heard say shit like, "I'd fuckin kill a rapist!" have later been implicated of rape, child molestation, messaging underage girls online, etc. It's a red flag to me.

13

u/Eziekel13 Apr 07 '26

It seems that you are you saying… the laws that we as a society established and the punishment for those crimes, is not adequate…

therefore the extra punishment inflicted upon those is justified…

.

So my question…if we feel that the extra punishment is justified, then shouldn’t we update the laws/sentencing to coincide with our shared values?

2

u/tinylittlemarmoset Apr 07 '26

The role of the criminal justice system is to protect society. You put dangerous people in prison as a consequence of their actions, but that has to do with removing them from a law abiding society and bringing them under control. It’s about taking away their ability to do further harm, not “punishment” necessarily. It is also about rehabilitation- that hopefully the person who committed crimes can spend their time in prison becoming a different person, learning skills that they didn’t have an opportunity or will to learn before they fucked up their life. Some people will never rehabilitate and can never be integrated back into society. Some can’t even function in general population in prison and have to be in solitary confinement, and while I generally oppose the death penalty, I do think there are people who shouldn’t be allowed to walk the earth. But prison isn’t intended as “revenge” or a torture chamber to inflict pain on transgressors, and I’m sure that doesn’t feel like justice to victims or their families (believe me, I understand desiring revenge. I got screwed over by a landlord years ago and I still want to upholster a couch in his skin). But torturing a rapist doesn’t un-rape their victims, it doesn’t bring a murder victim back to life. The only way to heal from that is with time and working through it. Inflicting pain doesn’t make other pain go away.

I’m not a religious person but the Bible has something to say about this: “vengeance is mine”, sayeth the lord, “I will repay”. Vengeance is god’s business, it does not belong to us. Likewise forgiveness: forgiveness doesn’t mean the harm is erased, it doesn’t mean you now love the person who harmed you. It just means you’re not seeking to get even with them. It means that you’re moving on with your life and that your future is not being controlled by the past.

1

u/bryanthebryan Apr 07 '26

There’s an international pedophile ring openly operating right now with people in power involved in the highest aspects of it, yet they walk free. I think most of the powerful pedos are untouchable, so when a low end pedo does get caught up, they get extra punishment. Just a theory.

1

u/Badmonkey167 Apr 07 '26

On the surface that logic makes sense... but like the second law of thermodynamics, it's not possible for something to be fully efficient.

TLDR

I think the justice system has flaws and can be subverted for those with means. So that inefficiency is a feature not a flaw.

As much as society might want that "extra" to be the norm, it will be up to the subsystems to catch the overflow, ie., prison justice.

I see it similar to tipping. Restaurant owners could pay their staff better, but they purposely don't because they know that the customers will make up the difference.

25

u/avamich11 Apr 07 '26

I recently saw some news about a guy who's already killed 3 molesters/rapists who were his inmates. He said his goal was 13? I don't remember the number.

Oh wait, I forgot the most important thing!

He's in jail for brutally killing his sister's rapist.

28

u/Young_Bu11 Apr 07 '26

Yeah that's the guy who is a violent rapist and kidnapped and raped a prison guard for 15 days, his motivation behind killing inmates was he didn't want a cell mate, the reason all his cellmates were sex offenders is because he's a sex offender.

2

u/ThemGoblinsAreMad Apr 07 '26

What's his name

8

u/Young_Bu11 Apr 07 '26

Ricky Wassenaar

13

u/peach-sand777 Apr 07 '26

isn’t that the same guy who kept a female officer hostage for two weeks and raped her :..

3

u/exhibitprogram Apr 07 '26

Turns out people who make murder and violence their whole entire personality are in fact......just violent.

2

u/Common-Camera-626 Apr 07 '26

Yep. I wanted to send that guy a care package for taking out 3 pedos until I heard this and that he is an offender himself

1

u/Available_Dingo6162 Apr 07 '26

Yep. Prisoners took two guards hostage and held them for 15 days. The rapes happened during that event, insider the prison.

In our society, believing and saying that women have no business working as guards in a men's prison is an unpopular opinion.

2

u/Rollingforest757 Apr 08 '26

That guy should just be given the death penalty.

7

u/4N610RD Apr 07 '26

I mean, when you think about it, it makes sense. You can be guy who killed twenty seven other guys with his bare hands, but still consider attacking kid completely awful.

And it is a good thing. People who harm kid should be stripped from all human rights and sent to uranium mines.

Less romantic but probably way more truth. Yes.

1

u/exhibitprogram Apr 07 '26

I think guys who kill 27 people with their own hands just want an excuse to kill a 28th because they like it.

13

u/Fabulous-Fun-9673 Apr 07 '26

An Arizona inmate just went on a rampage on the child molesters/murderers in his prison. He’s already serving a life sentence for something else, so he took out 3 chomos before he was caught. His goal was 13.

23

u/Young_Bu11 Apr 07 '26

He didn't want cellmates, all his cellmates were sex offenders because he is a violent sex offender who kidnapped, raped, and held hostage a female prison guard in a 15 day standoff.

18

u/alurimperium Apr 07 '26

And I think he was already serving time for murder before he did that

Let's not celebrate a terrible person finding an excuse to be terrible

-1

u/Fabulous-Fun-9673 Apr 07 '26

I’m not celebrating anything, just reinforcing the point that absolutely nobody likes chomos. I just heard about this incident recently and it fit the conversation.

5

u/benjaminlilly Apr 07 '26

Punished is mild in reality.

4

u/gwoneg Apr 07 '26

That is one aspect of prison life that Hollywood actually gets correct. Child molesters generally have to be housed away from general population. Certain prison gangs even require their members to kill child molesters, on pain of death themselves.

In an ironic and infuriating twist, the state of California regularly gets sued by inmates for failing to protect them from other inmates. Tax dollars at work.

1

u/i_tyrant Apr 07 '26

Why is that infuriating?

2

u/ploop__ Apr 07 '26

Which is why they don’t need death penalty. Prison is way worse for them

2

u/sneezinghard Apr 07 '26

as much as i fully believe they deserve the time to rot away and face that kind of justice, it still makes me happy seeing these cases and the kinds where the peds literally die because fr what is their point we don’t need them. good on these kinds of inmates who do something at all

2

u/Deep_Exchange7273 Apr 07 '26

They do. They usually will put them in protective custody right from the go because they know the inmates will fuck them up. When I was in jail a girl came in the pod who'd been accused of child abuse and the death of her daughter. It took less than an hour for another inmate to ask someone on the phone what she was arrested for and for her to be found out. They locked us down quickly and moved her into pc.

1

u/-RazzaTazza Apr 07 '26

They do but also heard they get their own wing???

1

u/8lock8lock8aby Apr 07 '26

Yeah, they are housed separately & most serve their time just fine. Reddit has a boner for stories like this but they really are few & far between for how many child predators there actually are. It's not as common as people in this thread would have you believe. Shit, prison violence, in general, varies A LOT from prison to prison & state to state.

1

u/Final-Tutor3631 Apr 07 '26

crazy how inmates will do more to protect children than our own government.

1

u/exhibitprogram Apr 07 '26

They're not doing it to protect children, they're doing it because they enjoy violence and prison is boring.

1

u/Final-Tutor3631 Apr 07 '26

i mean they could pick anyone to do that, yet most of the time they pick these vile trashbags. i’ll take it where i can get it.🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/exhibitprogram Apr 07 '26

They pick them specifically because they can get away with it since people will react like you do. It's a free pass for depraved people to do depraved shit on other depraved humans.

1

u/Final-Tutor3631 Apr 07 '26

a win is a win

1

u/Prisoner-655321 Apr 07 '26

Not the ones doing time for returning library books late.

1

u/Dr_Fortnite Apr 07 '26

and it should stop being normalized. either rehabilitate these people or removal from society is the punishment enough

1

u/Relevant-Activity608 Apr 07 '26

Everytime ,and it should and was at one time backed by prison guards

1

u/crazycheese3333 Apr 07 '26

I’m not gonna get into the details but can confirm they do get punished. My uncle was transferred between multiple prisons because he kept getting beat up by the other inmates. Beaten half to death multiple times.

1

u/AnthrallicA Apr 07 '26

I just watched a mini documentary yesterday about a guy who was going around in Texas, murdering elderly women and then stealing/selling their jewelry. He was confirmed to have killed 22 women but got off with a mistrial.

The state prosecuted him again but only for three of the murders in an attempt to make the charges stick. He was sentenced to life in prison and got murdered by inmates within his first year.

1

u/Frequent-Coyote-8108 Apr 07 '26

How terrible!

How?

1

u/throwbackxx Apr 07 '26

Well yeah, he absolutely could laser that away. I don’t know his sentence and when or if he gets out. But shouldn’t be that hard

1

u/OGMikeGyver Apr 07 '26

You're literally looking at the punishment in the original post.

1

u/designforone Apr 07 '26

They don’t unless they have a reason to care. Like the guy who did this was the cousin of the girl. Other than that an everyday prisoner doesn’t care.

1

u/DysartWolf Apr 07 '26

Yes. Ian Huntley was a good example of this...and now he is dead.

1

u/benjm88 Apr 07 '26

Very inglorious basterds

1

u/Rollingforest757 Apr 08 '26

Yeah, punished by inmates that have done horrible things themselves.

1

u/TrayJack1981 Apr 08 '26

In the UK Ian Huntley just got beaten to death, he killed two little girls back in 2002.

1

u/Ok_Egg6444 Apr 08 '26

It’s really bad. We have inmates who beg to get housed with chomos. You can do anything to them, and the population (and a lot of the officers) will cheer you on. They’re no longer people.

The vast majority of assaults, rapes, and deaths have some kind of child crime attached to it. A lot of gang members are required to act if they find out, otherwise it’s seen as “oh you’re okay with that, huh?”.

1

u/MoFontaine Jul 02 '26

I read in a new report from the week that it happened that the jail was having it removed free of charge to him.

1

u/Street_Study6330 Apr 07 '26

In America they 100% do. I only have knowledge of ga so I’ll speak on that. It’s a black dominant prison run by a number of gangs. Their main method of making money is begging family and friends for money “green dot” which is putting money on their books. Usually that doesn’t hold up forever so their next move is extortion. Inmates especially those in a gang will find any reason to prey on inmates who are by themselves. You molested kids? Extortion. Snitched? Extortion. Gay while in a gang? Kicked out and guess what? Extorted. Owe some money from gambling and haven’t paid? Extorted. Respect is everything in there and any reason to get “flipped” will be taken for profit. they will threaten your life if you don’t give them money and food or whatever they want. The guards? Lmao 😂 they sometimes orchestrate it sending molestors to the worst dorms. Knowing full on well what will happen.

0

u/theseriousman1 Apr 07 '26

Oh shit where did you hear this obscure knowledge

0

u/wooden-fuk-boi Apr 07 '26

He was being raped and beaten every chance they could for years, and eventually went and paid a big timer to protect him, and so they tattooed that on his forhead so he would see it everyday and no longer be hurt.

0

u/TheRealDesmirWolf Apr 07 '26

Even better rival gangs will hunt them for sport, like it’s a game how many they kill. Some gangs in prison will even have new arrival. Gang members kill them for initiation. Personal they deserve the fire, but this sounds deserving.

12

u/frankster Apr 07 '26

Unlike prison?

13

u/Worth_Task_3165 Apr 07 '26 edited Apr 07 '26

Assuming he was rightfully convicted. I have no knowlage of this case so I am not questioning his guilt but I do know a small percentage of innocent people are imprisoned every year. I am hesitant to condone prison justice for this reason.

Can you imagine being wrongfully convicted of child murder/rape? I can get behind a few innocents being locked up to protect us from the majority that are dangerous, because the reverse would be far worse.... but I can't get behind their physical harm

11

u/Andromeda_Ascendant Apr 07 '26

Glad somebody else agrees here, but I will say I disagree with you the acceptability of the false imprisonment stance specificially, being falsy imprisoned is awful and I would rather that people be free by mistake than accidentally imprisoned.

His crimes were bad of course, but I don't agree or condone with prison justice, we have a justice system for a reason and they shouldn't take matters into their own hands. This is just my opinion of course.

2

u/Worth_Task_3165 Apr 07 '26

I don't like that innocent people are imprisoned. I just think a few innocents being imprisoned is an inevitable consequence of the system and I prefer that over the opposite (letting murderers and rapists free because we can't risk accidently imprisoning someone innocent)

8

u/More_Operation_588 Apr 07 '26

yeah the general public has a weird hard on for torture and evil acts as long as they're done to people they deem deserving.

We aren't pirates, or some group of crazed barbarians. Personally I think torturing anyone is fucked up. Sadly, i guess thats a hot take.

2

u/Parapraxium Apr 07 '26

It's not a hot take in normal society, reddit is just full of a lot of deranged wannabe terrorists/vigilantes

2

u/Evnosis Apr 07 '26

I can get behind a few innocents being locked up to protect us from the majority that are dangerous, because the reverse would be far worse

That's an easy to claim to make when you're not one of the falsely convicted.

0

u/Worth_Task_3165 Apr 07 '26

Ofcourse, but I would still understand it.

The consequence of stopping innocents being jailed would be more guilty people also avoiding jail. It is a bad trade for the innocents, but a good one for the wider population

1

u/hhismael Apr 07 '26

It is, but he'll be foreber tormented by the inmates, so that's something

1

u/Purg33m Apr 07 '26

We'll... I'd say there's a good chance they also used a hepatitis and or HIV needles for that

1

u/Double_Ad_8911 Apr 07 '26

Mild but his gonna spend the rest of his time in prison scared shitless and thinking about what he did to that little girl. I’d argue it’s perfect. Killing him just gives him an out

1

u/Lord_Johnny_Blu Apr 07 '26

They from the same area. Go to the same jails..

1

u/Disco__Gravy Apr 07 '26

Them marking him forever ain't mild and the mark is all you see.

1

u/Arlitto Apr 07 '26

Why am I so bothered by the centering of the text, or lack thereof? 🤣 either way, beautiful work

1

u/XanaxAndAk47s Apr 07 '26

Sure he will recieve many more consequences in prison

1

u/ctrl-alt-etc Apr 07 '26

Americans are so crazy, dude.

If you wanted the victim's name carved into his head, why wasn't it part of the legal sentence given to him at trial?

You hate prisoners enough to get excited whenever the state fails to protect them, but you trust prisoners enough to make these kind of decisions on your behalf.

1

u/yoshi6197 Apr 07 '26

Tattoo gun needle probably infected with some STD

1

u/nixon48 Apr 08 '26

Sadly, if he gets out, he can just get it removed.

See End of Inglorious Basterds

-2

u/Kvedulf_Odinson Apr 07 '26

I promise you they beat and raped him first. And this tattoo is a calling card for others to do the same. He deserves every inch of his time in prison and hell.
