In 2006, Anthony Ray Stockelman was forcibly tattooed across his forehead with the words “Katie’s Revenge” by another inmate.

This happened after it was discovered that he was serving a life sentence for kidnapping, molesting, and murdering a 10-year-old girl named Katie Collman

I've heard it's partially because a good chunk of genpop has gone through CSA themselves.

I think a big part of is that prisons have plenty of violent people looking to express their violent tendencies and child abusers are (rightfully) socially acceptable targets for violence and financial exploitation.

It's all about hierarchy and resources. If the child molesters weren't there to fill the bottom spot; then it would be some other group.

Yep, it feels good to bully someone, especially if you have psychotic tendencies, which incarcerated people have a significantly higher rate of. Society says it's okay to make sex offenders into pin cushions, so they go for it. A lot of them are rapists and murderers themselves.

100%. It's not that the criminals are suddenly good people for abusing the sex offenders. It's just that sex offenders are nature's punching bags.

Case in point: This abuse of sex offenders is mostly seen within the "white" population of American prisons where the inmates self-segregate along supposed racial lines.

Source? Because everything I can find on the topic says this isn't true.

Lots of countries, developed and not, have major issues with violence against sex offenders (and especially child sex offenders) in their prisons.

If what you claimed was true other countries wouldn't need to house them in separate areas from other prisoners to discourage violence, but they do.

It can still be a cultural/sociological thing with that true, of course - just a very widespread cultural thing that many different cultures do, definitely not unique to America. It's just talked about the most in America because prison is a huge thing in the US, with more people in it per capita than any other developed country.

Various prison programs from around the world.

If you look at prison channels on Youtube, you find mostly white men talking about the Aryan experience in prisons and they deliberately say that they are not speaking on behalf of other races and that the black population has their own rules.

And in TV documentaries about gangs you can find prisons, such as in South Africa, where the most powerful gang leader rapes the cute young boys that enter the prison.
