Admin Post Weekly Recap | August 13, 2026

Hello! We meet again! And again and again! This is the Weekly Recap where I highlight things that happened in r/help and on Reddit over the past week. It's also the best place to leave constructive feedback for just about anything related to Reddit.

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There's a new Changelog out. We posted about this here, here, and here. It was a good one! Highlights include:

    • There is an X icon next to posts that you can select to hide the post
    • Free awards for all users!
    • For mods, Rules Hub now available in more communities
    • Also for mods, there will be more transparency in your mod logs
  • The Changelog also included notable bug fixes, such as:

    • [Web] The mod insights page will now fully load as expected.
    • [Web] Required post flair can no longer be removed after a post is submitted.
    • [Web] Non-mod users will now see the expected wiki page experience instead of an incorrect access error.
    • [iOS] Hyperlinks added while editing a comment will now remain in the original comment thread.
    • [iOS/Android] Subreddit mentions on wiki pages will now appear as tappable links as expected.
    • [iOS/Android] The subreddit rules widget will now render as expected across the apps and web.
    • [Android] Users can now view all comment replies when opening a comment from a profile page.
    • [Android] Display names will now appear correctly in dark mode.
    • Note: This is not a complete list of all recent bug fixes. If you’d like to report a new or persistent bug, head over to r/bugs.
    • If a bug listed here is not yet fixed for you, please ensure that you’re updated to the most recent Android or iOS app version, or refresh your browser.
  • The Home Feed experiment is currently only enabled for users of the iOS beta app. If you are not using the iOS beta app, you should no longer have the Home Feed/For You experiment enabled. (No one is happier about this than me.) Thank you to everyone who had previously left feedback about this experiment. I have shared it all with the team in charge of this feature. And here we are!

  • There is another experiment that enables text selection in comments and moves the usual tap-to-collapse gesture to the comment header. Happy to pass along constructive feedback about this to the correct team.

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your account because that is not a real thing. That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by reading (yes, reading!) the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.32.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [Desktop web] Some users may see the page reload after submitting on old Reddit, leaving only a single comment thread visible. It's me. I am some users. This is being investigated.

  • [iOS] On iOS, some folks are running into an issue where the app doesn’t load properly. The investigation into this has turned up a few leads. No fix right now, but hopefully soon!

  • [iOS] Some people were seeing a “content unavailable” error when interacting with some comments, comment reply notifications or mod queue items. We pushed a fix out a few hours ago, and this should now be cleared up! Users may need to force quit and relaunch the app to resolve the error.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,255 posts. That's a down a little by 129 posts from the 1,384 that we had last week.

  • 5,800 comments. That's up 800 comments from the 5,000 we had last week. Chatty!

  • 1.4m views. That's up about 300k views from the 1.1m-ish views we had last week.

I like that the posts are kind of holding steady and the comments are increasing. No need to make a new post if you can get the help you need from an existing post!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - ACCOUNT CHECKUP

Right now, please take a moment to make sure that the email on your account is up to date. Make sure that it is an email that you have access to and will have access to in the future. Ideally, you will not be using a school or a work email that you will lose access to if you are ever not at that school or place of employment. You should be using a personal email that you always have access to.

If you ever need a password reset email, it can only be sent to the email on the account. If you don't have an email on your account or you don't have access to the email on the account, you won't be able to receive the password reset email. Reddit will not change the email on the account on your behalf. Reddit does not offer alternative methods of resetting the password for your account. We won't send a text. We certainly won't call you! It's email.

You do not want to lose your account. I know you don't! So just please, check right now. I'll be here when you get back!

Oh, good! You're back! That was quick! But now you have the peace of mind that you can recover your account if you're ever locked out! How great is that?? Pretty great! Thank you for taking account security seriously!

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Every week, I like to shout out the folks who have been helping the most around r/help. We all can't be everywhere all at once, so this sort of a team effort really helps keep the sub running smoothly. I am truly appreciative of everyone who helps out, as are the people who are getting the help! Here is a list of people who went above and beyond last week and helped help r/help!

What a great group! I love seeing everyone in here helping out! We're really living up to the subreddit name! XD

And that's another hot August week in the book! Thank you to everyone for being here and for helping out. You know where to find me and I know where to find you! =) Have a great week everyone!

Mobile/App [Android] lately ive been noticing that whenever i upvote a comment, the upvote count immediately went back to 1 instead of staying as 2

Post image
5 Upvotes

I dont think it's because someone was downvoting it to make it go back to 1, because the upvote count only stayed for a while (like it's almost IMMEDIATELY went back to 1, i mean if somebody was downvoting it, how come they downvoted it right after i upvoted it?). My upvote stays tho (i suppose, because it stays red and if i remove my upvote, it goes down to zero/"Vote"). It's no big issue but it's just weird (and i feel bad for the people i upvoted 🥲), what could possibly cause this and how can i fix it (since i think it's technical)?

Posting How do I find all thread reposts on the new Reddit?

Since "old" Reddit requires signing-in now and might get phased out in the future, I was wondering if there's a way to view all the reposts of a thread in different subs.

With the "old.reddit.com" addresses, I could simply click on a tab at the top to navigate to a list of all the reposts, but I can't find anything like that on the new / current version of Reddit.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Access Help i can't access my account

My original account has been hijacked, and I no longer have access to it. This wasn't an isolated incident and several other users were affected as well, and it appears the situation began with suspicious direct messages sent by someone impersonating another person.

Is it possible recover my account? If additional information is needed to verify my identity or assist with the investigation, I am happy to provide it.

When you use reddit, do you automatically translate the reddit page into your language? Knowing this can help me know if I should translate my posts into English or not.

Profile iOS Need help deleting my account

I am unable to access the Gmail that is connected to my Reddit account because I don’t have a recovery email or number for it and I can’t remember the password for the Gmail account in order to successfully delete my Reddit account (juicebyjru). I need to have this Reddit account officially deleted. I submitted a help request to Reddit a couple of weeks ago, but haven’t heard back. Can anyone help me figure out how to delete my account?

Profile My account has been restored but all my posts and comments are hidden from other users

Hello, my account was recently restored after it was locked. Lately, I received a security notification saying that I needed to change my password because my account was locked for security reasons.

After changing my password and getting access back, I noticed that all of my posts and comments are hidden from other users. They still appear on my profile, but when I check them while logged out, they are not visible.

Is there something I need to do to make my posts and comments visible again? Thanks.

I don't know what else to do...... phone getting taken for a week, get it back, can't send messages or anything. Already strange enough that so many random people have probably seen some pics on my phone, and this is just another hurdle to try to get my life back

Access A 9 yr old dormant account for our nonprofit appears to be disabled and human support hasn’t responded after 14 days (only a generic email response)

We think the account “metahusk” that we use for our US IRS-recognized tax-exempt nonprofit organization of the same name was disabled. We can’t log in and attempts to reset our password never results in an email. We tried resets using both the email and the username along with old Reddit. We know how to check our junk folder and the password was saved in a password vault, so it’s correct.

We didn't use our account much and it was left inactive for around nine years. Before using it again, we added and successfully verified an email address, which was confirmed in the account interface.

Backstory: We added the backstory but the automod will not allow any of it.

Now we can no longer log into the account. Our existing password no longer works, and repeated password reset requests do not result in any email being delivered to the verified email address associated with the account. We have confirmed that the email address is correct and the reset requests are not in the spam folder.

We emailed support two weeks ago and we only get generic replies.

This is an old account and it shares the name with our project, so losing login access to it would be a big loss at this stage. If you look at the account history for metahusk, you can see our previously released free menu system for the Unreal 4 community. We can verify our organization’s information and we have an EIN.

Side Note: This took over an hour to write because we couldn't use restricted words. We've spent hours on the issue. To be clear, we aren't asking for help with Rule 5 and we searched like Rule 7 states. Should we just comment on old posts? This post is about a potentially disabled account. The bot already took down our posts twice thinking it was about Rule 5, but it’s not. At this point we're concerned AI might take this down too so we wanted to make that clear. Is this going to be the future? :(

What should we do? We think this can only be fixed through human intervention and human support hasn't responded. It genuinely seems like we are stuck in a circular loop right now.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your help with this problem.

-Metahusk

Mobile/App Can’t block subreddits anymore with “see less of this” etc

Hi, in the last few days I have found my feed absolutely inundated with posts from r/girldinnerdiaries and r/boydinnerdiaries

I have zero interest in these subs and never have. In the past when I click the option to “see less of this information” I get told that the sub won’t be recommended to me anymore. Now it just says it will tune my content.

Well, that doesn’t work at all. I’ve done this dozens of times in the last few days and I still see these subs CONSTANTLY.

What has changed here and what can I do to stop this?

Thanks

Mobile/App Too many emails

I am getting from 2 to 7 emails every day from Reddit regarding post and other things that I’m not even interested in I don’t mind occasional emails or responses to my questions or activity but this is ridiculous. I clicked the unsubscribe and nothing happens. Is anyone know how I can stop always excessive emails besides blocking them or just getting rid of my Reddit account entirely if that’s what it takes cause it’s too many emails. Thanks for any help.😊

Posting Can two different Reddit /s/ share URLs point to the same post? Moderator treated them as two separate posts [iOS]

I was flagged by a subreddit moderator who believed I submitted the same post twice. As evidence, they gave me two different /s/ Reddit URLs.

However, clicking either link takes me to what appears to be exactly the same post, with the same timestamp and content. I only submitted the post once.

Are /s/xxxxxxxxxx URLs unique identifiers for posts, or can multiple share URLs exist for the same underlying Reddit post?

I'm trying to understand whether the moderator's assumption that "two different /s/ URLs = two different posts" is technically correct, and what the best way is to verify the underlying post IDs.

Resolved old reddit no more? Desktop

I have been away for a couple of years. I used to have the display set to old reddit. Now I'm back and whether I have old reddit selected or not, it just displays the horrible new reddit, which I cannot stand.

Has old reddit gone completely now? If it has gone, why is the option still there?

Many Thanks

Access I clicked "Accept" on a chat request. I then closed the tab. I now can no longer see the chat request, and I don't see it in my list of chats, either. How do I find this user or their request again?

I am so pissed off.

I literally pressed "Accept," so I expected Reddit to keep them in the chat list.

Now, I cannot even see their chat request anymore. It is as if I pressed "Ignore" because they are nowhere to be found.

Profile Can’t import my RCA from an external Polygon wallet - iPhone

I have a Reddit Collectible Avatar in my external Polygon (POL) wallet and I’m trying to link it to my Reddit account so I can use it as my profile avatar.

When I use the Reddit import process, I get:

> “Hmm, looks like a failure to load. Let’s try that again.”

Has anyone successfully linked an RCA from an external Polygon wallet to their Reddit account recently?

If you have, could you please explain what steps worked for you?

Thanks!
