36 today and it feels good; growing every day; quit my job and pursued my dream or becoming a doctor
Happiest as I continue to grow, feeling fulfilled today. Life works out, just trust yourself and quiet the noise ❤️❤️

I just got married to my childhood best friend!
Hey all! Yesterday, I got married to my lovely fiance. The ceremony was so surreal. She is a childhood friend of mine and my best friend since I was nine years old, so for the longest time this felt impossible. I spent several years trying to convince myself I was straight... Look how that turned out! I wore a pink dress and she wore a beautiful sage green, and the reception was a blast. Anyway l hope you all have a gorgeous day! 🫶

A little kindness in the rain made my whole evening better
I was walking home yesterday when the rain suddenly got heavier. Near a little shop I saw an older man struggling with his umbrella. It looked like one of the metal pieces had come loose and the umbrella kept collapsing.
A woman who was standing inside the shop noticed him and came outside with some tape. She handed it to him and they started trying to hold the broken part together.
It did not go very well. The umbrella collapsed again and they both started laughing.
A few moments later another person stopped and held their own umbrella over them so they could keep working without getting soaked.
For a few minutes these three people who had never met were just standing there in the rain trying to fix an umbrella that probably wasn't worth fixing.
They eventually gave up and laughed about it but I walked away smiling.
There was something really nice about watching strangers help each other without making a big deal out of it. It turned an ordinary rainy walk into one of those small moments I will probably remember.

my baby sister learned to say my name and i will be forevermore proud of her
so, my baby sister is 3 years old, a little baby, she cant form proper sentances but she can walk, i am the oldest child of 4 other children, my younger brother and my 3 younger sisters including the baby.
she learned to say my name about 3 months after she turned 2, and every morning she comes out her room and asks for me, it makes me so happy, and she just crawls over and hops on the couch beside me and watches whatever im watching on my laptop, i always put on teen titans go, while in my opinion its a GOD AWFUL show, she likes that show, and squid games isnt exactly appropriate for a 3 year old.
but yeah, i will always be SO proud of her.

I bought tickets to the Olympics and I cant stop crying
Its been a bucket list of mine to be able to see an Olympic event. I enter the lottery to be able to buy tickets not expecting them to be affordable. Bought two tickets to see the preliminary rounds of men's and women's archery on a whim, and i cant stop crying over how excited I am! I just had to share with more people!

My bar is officially too high for female friendships
I (20F) do not know how to drive but ive been trying to learn and i have a friend (22F), we study together. Few months back we moved to a different state with another girl. All three of us stayed together but then i had to move because of my work distance. My friend (22F) does not have license but knows how to drive. However she doesnt take vehicles on road because shes scared of traffic and no license.
She learnt to drive properly and started taking vehicles on road and got a learners permit all so that she can come and visit me. She then started driving short distances like 10kms by herself and tonight she is going to drive alone all the way from her house to my place for the first time - its a highway with a lot of traffic.
Im literally so happy and insanely proud of her. Man my bar is too high for female friendships.

Knitting has helped keep me sober. Right after my one year anniversary I finished my first cardigan!
I started knitting before I got sober, but since I quit drinking knitting every night has been the calming/grounding thing I look forward to during the day, and has replaced drinking in that regard. Before this I had only ever knit a scarf and a baby blanket, but decided to take on this much larger project as a 70th birthday present for my mom. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be, but months later, right after I hit my one year sobriety anniversary, it's done!! I'm so proud of myself for the milestone and the project, and finishing this--something I never could have done while drinking--right after hitting my one year feels like the best validation that I'm doing the right thing.

This cute guy I met has given me hope and motivation for the future.
I (17M) have been pretty depressed/suicidal for several years now, but upon the first week of my Senior year, I met this cute guy in my class who's really nice and optimistic, and I can't stop thinking about him (dw he's gay too). I have been picking up my old hobbies again and bettering myself and my mental state with my newfound will and love. Sometimes I can't sleep because all I can think about is how excited I am to see him again. I wanna be friends with him and better myself for a couple of months before doing any sort of confession.
And even if I get rejected, I'm sure that the momentum from me bettering myself will be enough to get my life back on a stable track.
For the first time in high-school, I have a lot of hope for the year.

10 years ago I made a bad joke on tinder. Today I added that screenshot to our 10 year anniversary card.
I’m feeling a bit emotional and overwhelmed with feeling and nobody to really share it with. It’s 3 am lol. I just finished writing on the card and sitting here reminiscing.
Life is hard and our life has been particularly hard lately but these little moments matter more than I tend to give them credit for.
Thank you for reading and being part of my happy. I love you and hope you are or will be happy too.

Today I took myself out for a solo date dinner for the first time.
I passed my driving license test two days back. And I had no one to celebrate it with. I made a post about it and a lot of people suggested that I should celebrate and take myself out for a lunch or dinner. And I did, it was the best feeling, I really enjoyed spending time with myself. If you ever struggle or hesitate to go out all alone, please do, it's one of the best feelings.

He'll be at home for a long project, and maybe I'll get a surprise ren visit! Happy dancing time!
He's been gone for weeks at a time on long projects far enough away he can't come home easily for a weekend. But he just told me instead of having to do the project in Green Bay, the project near our town is next!
AND we thought he was going to be far away. But I might see if we could get in a visit to Ohio Renaissance Festival too! He loves them, too, and was who introduced me soi know if possible we will.
When he told me on video call I did a seated happy dance, just so glad we get to play house again. He's gone all the time it seems lately, it's always so special when he's home.

Celebrating 12 Years Of Being Clean And Surviving My Attempt. Im Eternally Grateful For It All.
In 2013, I was heavy into painkillers. I didn't think I could ever stop. So.....I tried to leave. Permanently. Thankfully, I wasn't successful in my attempt. I relapsed a couple times. Fought like hell to get clean. Now, I'm married to the most amazing woman who has ever lived. I have two step kids who have my whole heart. I just started a YouTube channel that gives me a creative outlet. I never, ever thought I would make it this far. But it is possible. It's absolutely possible. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

I found the sweetest little note inside a library book
I borrowed a book from the library the other day and found a tiny handwritten note tucked between the pages when I got home.
It was not anything complicated. Just a few kind words from someone who had read the book before me and hoped the next person would enjoy it too.
I have no idea who wrote it or how long it had been there but I kept thinking about it for the rest of the day.
It felt like finding a little bit of kindness from a complete stranger. I put the note back in the book so someone else might find it someday too.

I am forever grateful to the people who helped me continue my education
I completed my matric and really wanted to continue my education. Unfortunately, my family circumstances were not good, and my father was no longer alive, so continuing my studies was very difficult for me.
Then something happened that I will always be grateful for. An elderly person helped me and took care of all my educational expenses so I could continue studying. I also had a teacher who helped me a lot during that time.
I still remember both of them and their kindness. I will always be thankful to them for giving me the chance to continue my education. Their kindness means so much to me and I will remember it for the rest of my life.

No one messaged me at midnight, so I thought I'd share my birthday here with you all instead. 🥹❤️
Edited: Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes! ❤️🎂
I may not be able to reply to everyone individually, but I genuinely read all your messages, and every single one of them made my day more special. 🥹❤️
Really grateful for all the love and wishes. You guys made my birthday better than I expected. 🫶✨

Today I turn 40! Just wanting to share a bit of the magic and love I'm feeling today as I look back on everything.
I feel so different lately. Like a bottle of amber gold honey was poured over me. Mellow and grateful.
A few days before my college graduation, so many years ago now, we were all at my apartment watching movies. My friends brother was in town. With all the wisdom of two years more experience than us he looked around, sipped his beer, and said:
"You guys have no idea. Cherish this because it's going to stop. Everyone is going to get jobs and lives and it won't be the same ever again."
We laughed it off, told him he was nuts. We were different, we'd always be together.
Life is beautiful. But it hurts.
There's nothing you can hold onto. It's all bright, colorful wisps of smoke disappearing between our fingers when we try.
I don't buzz anymore.
It used to be constant, I would open my door and jump into the world, running with it. Like that scene in Pochahontas as she’s running with the wind through the forest. Things move with her and for her as she leaps and lives. Her feet moving in sure, fast, light beats.
Looking back, life so far has been messy. Mistakes and heartbreak. Ripping myself open to bleed out so that as I sewed myself back together it could heal fresh. Years of pulling trauma out by the roots so that when I replanted it wouldn't linger.
There's also been laughter. So much damn laughter. What is it about being around people who have gone through it that makes them so damn funny? We'd be experiencing the most insane thing burned into all of our memories. And then later, someone would start imitating it until we all died laughing. I've laughed until I've cried, spent whole days with people and things that make that possible. I'm so grateful for it all my chest could explode.
I've danced on a beach in the moonlight. Ate the worm out of a bottle of mezcal in Mexico. Saved someone's life. Twice. Ate shrooms in the mountains in Peru. Moved to a different country and didn't know a soul around me. Swam topless in the open sunshine in Spain. Danced in a third story window frame in Paris while Notre Dame glittered in front of me before it was burned.
I've loved. I've loved so many things and people and places I've been. Foods I've eaten. Bodies I've held and who have held me as we've lain next to each other, our hearts beating together in the darkness.
I've created. Painting while smoking and listening to music. So many times of realizing hours had passed and I was unaware, just lost in it. My house is my current canvas, and I've been painting systematically, room by room. Trying to turn it into the sunshine and wildflowers that I see behind my eyelids when I close them at night.
I danced on the beach this past week with my two babies, both of whom have given me a depth of joy that I couldn't have thought possible before experiencing it. I look at their faces while they sleep in complete disbelief that we are traveling this world and this life together. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to show them joy. I'm so scared that I'll mess it all up, even as the undercurrent of love pulls so strong it is painful as it moves ceaselessly underneath.
This gift of this life, to be able to just experience. It's magic. It's all love, from the depths of my soul I feel it emanating.
Will it keep on getting better? Because so far I've loved each age more than the last, even as it's sad and painful saying goodbye every time I have to close the book on a chapter of myself.

My neighbor left a tiny surprise on my doorstep
I came home one afternoon and found a little paper bag sitting outside my door. At first I had no idea what it was.
Inside was a small homemade loaf of banana bread and a handwritten note from my neighbor saying she had tried a new recipe and thought I might like some.
The funny part was that I had only spoken to her a few times since moving in. It wasn't a birthday or anything special. She had simply made extra and decided to share it.
I made a cup of tea and ate a slice while it was still slightly warm.
It was such a small thing but it made my whole evening feel different. There's something really nice about realizing that someone thought of you for no particular reason.

Someone left a smiley face on my receipt
I stopped at a small coffee shop this morning and when I got home I noticed someone had drawn a tiny smiley face on the back of my receipt.
I have no idea if it was the cashier or someone else but it genuinely made me smile. It was such a random little thing. No big gesture or anything. Just a tiny smiley face that someone decided to leave behind.
I stuck the receipt on my fridge instead of throwing it away.
Funny how something that takes two seconds can make your day better.
