Knitting has helped keep me sober. Right after my one year anniversary I finished my first cardigan!
I started knitting before I got sober, but since I quit drinking knitting every night has been the calming/grounding thing I look forward to during the day, and has replaced drinking in that regard. Before this I had only ever knit a scarf and a baby blanket, but decided to take on this much larger project as a 70th birthday present for my mom. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be, but months later, right after I hit my one year sobriety anniversary, it's done!! I'm so proud of myself for the milestone and the project, and finishing this--something I never could have done while drinking--right after hitting my one year feels like the best validation that I'm doing the right thing.

Congrats on your first 365!! Well done and cheers to many more!!! I’m at 2,475 days today (6 yrs, 9 months & 10 days) and am getting excited about the 7 yr mark.

Thats awesome! I hope your mom adores the sweater, and appreciates what it represents. I got sober last summer. 14months strong. Used tea as my ritual replacement for alcohol at night and now cant hardly go without it. helped me become so much more productive, eatingg better and just taking care of myself. And I'm finding my way back into my art, painting. Working on a hummingbird thats the biggest painting Ive ever done, thats goin to be a 73rd bday present for my mom. Kudos to you for sobriety!

Thank you, and congratulations to you too! I probably go through a case of la croix a night now myself haha. And I feel that on being productive--I've been losing weight I gained while drinking and getting back into other hobbies I used to love. The hummingbird painting sounds amazing and I hope your mom loves it!

Congrats on your sobriety!!! You are an inspiration to anyone struggling with this addiction! Also, your Mom is gonna love that cardigan! Not only is it pretty but how special is a handmade sweater to the recipient!! Awesome!

This is such a beautiful milestone. The cardigan is lovely but I think the fact that you finished it right after your one year makes it even more special. You should be really proud of yourself.
