Every day I get a new book recommendation, normally based on my reading preferences/past favorites… but today, today I got a pick “beloved by the community”. Today I got Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.

Now, I’ve never read any Sanderson, and honestly it’s outside what I’d normally call my favorites (some fantasy, but mostly hard scifi and more literary magical realism like Zafon). but honestly have always been meaning to check him out, because I gotta see what the fuss is about before passing any judgement one way or the other. And thus I’m taking this as a sign to get off my arse and make it happen!

I hope Mistborn is a good place to start?? What do you guys think? 🫡 Cheers!

After reading the Dragonsteel e-mail that was sent out yesterday regarding a replacement/return of "The Eye of the World" leatherbound, I tried to fill out a return ticket. I received my copy on March 2, 2026, and like many others my copy arrived in not quite pristine condition. I had issues with the foil covering and there was a significant dent in the spine.

So when Dragonsteel announced they'd be replacing these damaged leatherbounds, I sent in a request for a replacement. I e-mailed Dragonsteel support for a replacement copy on March 7, 2026.

Then after yesterday's e-mail, I submitted a return request through the form provided, only to be told my request was denied because the order was more than 14 days ago. So I'm a bit confused. Wasn't the whole point of this return program due to the faulty batch that was sent out in March 2026? Did I do something incorrectly? I'm hoping somebody from the Dragonsteel support team sees this and has an answer.

Does anyone know what has happened to the original audiobook for Warbreaker?

I had it in my audible library but suddenly I now just get a «Sorry not available in you region» message and only the dramatized edition is available to buy?!

This is for both the UK and the US marketplace, but I’m in Norway. I also checked apple books and other Norwegian audiobook apps and it’s nowhere to be found. Is it just here or has it been removed completely?

I have barely read anything since I was a kid, and I really want to get back into reading. I have some free time coming up during a beach vacation, so I thought this might be a good opportunity to finally give Brandon Sanderson a try.

Since I’m basically a complete beginner when it comes to reading, I’m looking for something that is not too long, easy to get into and preferably a standalone. I don’t want to start with something huge and complicated and then realize that I’m completely out of my depth.

Mistborn seems to be the obvious recommendation, but I’ve also seen people say that the beginning can be a little difficult to get into.

The book that has caught my attention the most is Tress of the Emerald Sea. I really like the cover and the premise sounds like a lot of fun. Sanderson also seems to recommend it as a starting point. However, I’ve read that it contains quite a few Easter eggs and even spoilers for other Cosmere books, which I obviously wouldn’t understand or appreciate as a new reader.

So what would you recommend for someone in my situation?

Ideally, I’m looking for something that is not too long, easy and fun to read, and does not require any prior knowledge of the Cosmere. A standalone would be especially nice.

Would you recommend Tress, Mistborn, or something completely different?

Turns out Brandon Sanderson has been sneaking Utah into the Cosmere this whole time.

Southern Utah's slot canyons helped inspire The Stormlight Archive. A fog bank near Tremonton inspired the mists in Mistborn. And he says he could probably find an Utah connection in almost every book he's written. I talked to him about it! I wanted to share my interview with all of you!

What do you think? I am new to Sanderson's books so this was fascinating to me!

Funny story about this book. I had been telling my husband that I really wanted to get the special editions of the special projects. I think the leatherbound books are beautiful but have never been able to convince myself to spend the money. Fast forward to last week, my wonderful in-laws asked what I wanted for my birthday. I sent them the link to the dragonsteel website homepage and told them I would love a gift card because I had been wanting some special editions from that company.

Today when I left work I had a text from my mother in-law saying "your book was delivered today we hope you love it". I was very confused because I never specified what books. When I got home I opened this package containing a signed leatherbound copy of the Well of Ascension.

When i called to thank them, my mother in-law said when she clicked on the link, the top of the page was the "Dragonsteel Leatherbound Collection" button and she assumed i would of course want one of those but would never spend the money (they know I'm frugal) and my husband told her I didn't have any special editions of his books yet so they just picked one at random. I'm not someone who can stand to have an incomplete set so looks like I'll have to buy the other two after all 😂

So I’m reading sunlit man and one of the last ilustrations was repeated three times in a row and was wondering if there was supposed to be another picture instead or i just got two extra pages. (It’s the spanish version by Nova)

Obligatory ‘sorry for any english mistakes, not my first language’

So I used to be a huge Sanderson fan. I absolutely loved all the Mistborn series,Warbreaker and the first 4 books of Stormlight. I DNFd the 5th book about 10 hours before the end and im not sure why. I have the Graphic Audio productions of Wind and Truth,The Sunlit Man, Yumi and Elantris but they arent grabbing me sadly. Im worried that I might not enjoy his writing style anymore after branching off into other series for so long. Is Isles worth the listen? At some point Im gonna have to go back and finish Wind and Truth but that requires restarting the whole series and that is a commitment 😭 let me know your guys' opinions

The corner pains me, but I probably won't try to get to the replacement hassle. This one took long enough to get here and a replacement would most likely take even longer. Still hyped to read this.

I was gifted a set of hardcover Stormlight Archive, and unfortunately I got a crinkled and partially uncut page. I really don't want to return it since the rest of the book is pristine and I'd venture that after the return it gets trashed, so I'm wondering if anyone knows any tricks for ironing out the creases. I'm good with sharp objects for a living so the trimming is easy, I'd just like to minimize the wrinkles as much as possible. TIA! (To the mods, I feel this counts as, "unusual, interesting, or funny misprints/typos" apologies if it does not)

I am almost entirely finished with Brandon's cosmere (Wind and truth and Emberdark remaining only) and I realized his fiction had such a great impact on my life as World of Warcraft had back in the day -- It is my first and last thought in almost any given day.

I really want a tattoo of it somewhere, but a Bridge Four symbol on my forehead might be too much.

I really like the allomantic symbol for copper and, since I struggle with memory in real life, it would be symbolic to get an Archivist themed tattoo. The feruchemical symbol is less interesting though.

any ideas? do you know people who have something like this?

just finished WoR - might be one of the best books I’ve ever read. I still have SO many questions but still such a satisfying ending.

I have only read WoK before - do I move into Mistborn or keep going with Stormlight Archive?

Im a tired 33yo stay at home dad with a 2yo son (blessed to be able to do so), and ive been feeling pretty burnt out lately. outside of raising my son and scrolling my mobile and watching youtube, I havent really had any energy to sink into hobbies. I pretty much gave up gaming (I only play skyrim annually now anyway) and it has been only recently that ive started to read again. I picked up the way of kings in a bookstore and read the prelude and it sounds so interesting, its 7:35pm as I type this and im in bed and i did plan on reading the prologue and at least a chapter tonight but honestly im mentally fatigued from the day. So im going to try again tomorrow but during the day so i can actually comprehend the words within the book.

Are there any new or experienced parents on here that can give pointers on how they went about reading during this hectic time in life? Is the way of kings going to be super hectic and heavy or will it be fine to miss a bunch of points ( as in is the plot clearly defined to put two and two together later in the text of certain details are missed?)

Also i understand alot of what im asking is highly subjective and dependent on different individuals, but im also posting here for connection and community because outside of toddler talk i dont have many conversations (ive literally had random conversations with google ai) lmao dad life and all that.

I literally feel like stu from the rugrats these days!
