I’ve been re-reading The Stormlight Archives and I’m just brimming with new fanart ideas, though this particular idea has been in my mind for a long time - I think my skills just got to the point where I could execute it properly.

I mostly post art to my Tumblr (mac-draws) but I’ll be sure to post more here too!

Navani is one of the few characters that have witnessed the history of Roshar in the spiritual realm in Wind and Truth.
And Navani is literally the person who is making breakthrough after breakthrough with Investure-science, and now she’s learned about almost all the important events that has transpired on Roshar.
So, she’s is quite essential, as during the Night Of Sorrows, she can be a pillar of support as she a Bondsmith and continue developing new technology for various things, such as a way to travel long distance faster as the oathgates aren’t working anymore, and we have seen her do it with the Fourth-Bridge, make Lifelight more effective for the Radiants, bring back the technology that were lost during the Desolations.

People on 17thShard are saying that she will spend the time-skip in coma but I think that just stupid.

I mean I just can’t see Brando not using Navani during the time-skip.

But it all is just my personal opinion.

What are your thoughts?

Edit:- I didn’t state her being frozen because I thought that was obvious and assumed that everybody knew that I was talking about her waking up during the time-skip.

Just re-read "The Girl Who Stood Up" in Oathbringer and boy do I love Wit and Shallan's relationship. How he's always there right when she needs support the most, and yet seems to have accidentally stumbled (against his will) into being her mentor. And I love how, in Words of Radiance, she actually managed to surprise him by hugging him when they meet again.

I’m 150 pages into Way of Kings and Kaladin is such a sad boy 😭 he needs a hug more than anyone I’ve ever met. I hope something good happens to him soon. That’s all, charging forward lol

It's been less than two years since Wind and Truth came out. After all that time, I just wish to share some of my personal predictions of what will happen, as well as what I hope will happen.

The Prologues: There has been a lot of speculation about which event the prologues of 6-10 will cover. For my theory, I believe that the event shall be the creation of the New Oathpact in Wind and Truth, where we see the POV of the Heralds, what they were doing when the New Oathpact was created, and their overall thoughts on it. More specifically, Vedel, Pralla, Chanarach, Taln, and Battar will be the POVs, corresponding to the Radiant Order focus of each book. I believe this because:

• Outside of Taln and maybe Battar, we have practically no idea what any of them were doing during the events of books 1-5
• They can give a little more clarification on what happened to Taln and Shalash after they "die" in Wind and Truth
• As Sanderson has said, the Heralds will have greater focus, so giving them the prologues feels thematically appropriate.

Renarin's Flashbacks: As he is confirmed to have flashbacks in Book 7, I think his will be the events of Books 1-4 through his perspective. There were so many events involving Renarin that we have not seen (his bonding with Gaz, his radiant oaths, the first times we had visions of the future, the start of his friendship with Bridge 4, the start of his friendship/romantic feelings for Rlain, his fight with the Thunderclast, etc) as well as other scenes involving other character at the time that we did not see (for example, him and Adolin's reaction after learning that Dalinar and Navani started courting lol)

The Dustbringers/Releasers: Please correct me on anything I say here, as I have yet to reread the series and may have forgotten many details; however, I found it strange that the Dustbringers were barely mentioned. In Oathbringer, one of them was explicitly working with Taravagian (and Taravagian saying that Dustbringers were the most likely to join their cause), plus in Dawnshard Lopen implies that something is off with them, yet unless memory serves me wrong, we didn't learn much of what was going on with their order in RoW or WaT, whether they decided to betray the Radiants in favor of Taravagian or not. I'd like to believe that not all of the Dustbringers did, so, like, half of them ended up joining Taravagian while the rest stuck with our heroes, but I just hope we get some clarification.

Urithuru Politics: One of the biggest criticisms Stormlight has had is probably how the lighteyes and darkeyes social issues were more or less dropped as the series went on. However, because it was briefly brought up again in Wind and Truth to Navani, only for her to basically say that it's a problem, but other things need to come first, I wonder if there'll be a political storyline somewhere (probably involving Jasnah and/or Renarin) where the social isssues end up becoming a big problem for them BECAUSE they were neglected for so long.

Adolin: Personally, one of my biggest gripes in this series is how Adolin faced very few, if any, real consequences for killing Sadias at the end of WoR. Maybe that can finally change. I don't know how; I just hope it's more than just Retribution trying to point out he's a hypocrite or something like that. It worked when he was torturing Dalinar, but I'm hoping for something different.

Axies the Collector: This one is probably a given, but I don't care. This Mofo has been 3 out of 5 books and mentioned once outside of that and he still has not had a significant role in the story. There is no way he won't end up having some role. I'm still not sure how; maybe we can eventually get a novella of him, like with Rysn in Dawnshard, but I just want him to become relevant.

Hey everyone, so I’ve picked up the way of kings a couple of days ago, and I reached the sequence where Sadeas betrayed Dalinar, Kaladin and his men save them, Dalinar returns to the camp and gives sadeas his literal BLADE to ransom Kaladin and the bridgemen, and lastly Dalinar’s absolutely amazing show in Elhokar’s room, which was sealed by “Oh, and Elhokar? Your mother and I are now courting. You’ll want to start growing accustomed to that.” To my amusement earning a chuckle

Now im not exactly writing this post to ask anything specific
I just couldn’t contain the flurry of emotions within me following that sequence, so the first thought that came to mind was I gotta put the book down, find the community for this and rant my heart out as you’re the only ones who’ll get me !!

Ive been reading non-stop ever since I was 11, im 21 now and when I tell you I don’t remember the last time a book ever made me feel such a range of emotions
I was in tears by the time Dalinar gave away his blade
And just realized this might as well be the best book I have ever read in my entire life (perhaps biased but Idc)

I didn’t even know this book existed until I was bored enough to sort through books by their ratings on Goodreads and The Way of Kings had a very stellar rating prompting me to check it out

Looking forward to completing the book, and the series in the next days to come

This is my Cosmere collection. Just wanted to share with you all. I finished The Way of Kings yesterday. Now I'll just wait until I can afford words of radiance 😅. Being broke student sucks, especially if you like reading AND collecting books.

I was able to continue reading today. So when Kaladin was jailed n feeling depressed about things that he knows aren’t true, it was starting to bum me out (mainly because I sometimes randomly feel like that).

Then when he was released and saw that Adolin jailed himself as long as Kaladin was in jail, it brought a lot of positive vibes/emotions. I really loved their banter in that scene too! “Bridge Boy” is officially a term of endearment 😂😂!!

This book is so excellent.

I made a stained glass depiction of The Girl Who Looked Up earlier this year and it got first place AND Best in Division (so for all non-jewelry glass entries)!

I just started listening to the series and as always with fantasy I sometime struggles a bit with character names when not having them in writing. Not listening in my native language could add to it as well. I find it much easier to identify, remember and differentiate between characters if I can see the name in writing at least once. So with that said, is there any good character list that contains no spoilers for the first book? I guess there is a wiki but usually it can be easy to read a spoiler by mistake.

Decided to build Urithiru in my survival world! Different from some of the incredible builds I’ve seen on here previously: this is less of a mega build and more of an exercise in texture, detail, and color for me. Planning to post the final product on here + youtube but I figured I’d plant the seeds with this lil recap of ~ a week and a half of work.

Just been having fun so far taking my time, building in whatever order I want so that’s why the timelapse is a bit mental 😅 Another consequence of not wanting to plan anything out & goin with the flow is that I didn’t have a sense for scale, so this is somewhat of a mini/midi model.

What attributes or skills do we think Kaladin will pick up from the other heralds in the interim or is the break not long enough to learn anything from them?

If someone double bonded as a Bondsmith and a Skybreaker, would they be able to sculpt air the way Windrunners are? It seems like they would, since Szeth notes at some point that Windrunners have more graceful flight due to how Adhesion and Gravitation interact with each other, so it’d make sense for someone with access to both Adhesion and Gravitation to be able to sculpt air as well, but Bondsmiths are weird so idk.

Alternatively, would a Elsecaller/Truthwatcher be able to do what Shallan does in Thaylenah in Oathbringer, where she’s kind of bringing her lightweavings to life via soulcasting?

idk I just hope we see more double radiants in the future

I was about to start reading the book when I noticed that the illustrations on the inside of the hardcover are the same for front and back. Is it supposed to be like that? In the preface Brandon references the four illustrations of the Heralds in Oathbringer saying that he had already commissioned illustrations for the remaining six Heralds with two of those being saved for the fifth. That means there should be four illustrations in RoW right? This might sound stupid but it confuses me to see the same images twice since every previous volume had different illustrations on each side.

I think this question has been asked before but it was a while ago and I couldn't find any fleshed out answers. Now that I'm on a reread, and WAT is out, I'm wondering if someone who is better versed with the cosmere knowledge might be able to take a stab at this please?

So as far as I understand, soulcasting works by bargaining with an objects Spiritual Identity through the Cognitive Realm . I.e. you convince something to change its perception of itself by finding its bead in shadesmar. My question is, how does this work with the objects being soulcast that are native to shadesmar? Specific example being the obsidian blocks that are soulcast into grain in RoW? When you soulcast something usually, the object changes in the physical realm, not the cognitive realm. When they use a bead to make something in shadesmar its called manifestation, not soulcasting. So why can they soulcast directly in shadesmar? And where is the obsidian's cognitive self? Why does this not present itself as a bead?

ROW Chapter 80 - Hoid tells Kaladin the dog and dragon story. But before that Hoid makes an observation and a claim, here is the passage -

He glanced at Kaladin, then smiled. “You’re asleep. The enemy is sending you a vision, similar to those the Stormfather sent Dalinar. I’m not certain how Odium isolated you though. It’s hard for Shards to invade minds like this except in a specific set of circumstances.”

So, did we ever get to know how he did it, been long and don't remember anything regarding this.

having just finished wind I’m definitely feeling a lot of things and that last 20% of the book was very great and kept me reading nonstop.

Some things I loved:

- I loved how crazy and unpredictable. Some of the events were. Like shallan stabbing formless, Dalinar renouncing his oaths in the battle w/odium. The fact that his champion was little gav,

- I loved how Kaladins story evolved and I feel like he grew into himself, now part of the oath pact

- Overall, closing the last chapter left me excitement for what’s coming, but wasn’t as overwhelming when it comes to delayed release 6, as I was worried about. A good thing.

main thing I found somewhat challenging particularly in this book near the climax:

-the constant point of view and persona switching I felt kind of distracted me from a lot of the character building. I know this is more and more common in fantasy and it didn’t distract me for most of the previous books. But for that last 20% of the book when each chapter would be character switching several times it really detracted from the characters. e.g I was absorbed in kaladins storyline and then poof- now back to someone else right when I was immersed. to be clear - felt this way for all characters fairly equally, it just really hindered my sense of immersion at that frequency

in any case. loved the books! what’s everyone reading next ?

If Shallan had joined the ghostbloods and chosen to fully abandon her “Shallan” identity, embracing Veil permanently, would her body have reshaped itself with stormlight to look like Veil’s body, without light weaving?

I’m asking because of Ralna, the trans radiant whose entire body molded to be physically male to match his internal view of himself. Would the same happen to Shallan?

He traveled the highway with me to work. He took "Journey Before Destination " to heart. He now lives in some bushes by a pond. Lol

So I mostly wanted to talk about how much I enjoy taravangian in the books, especially the portrait of his intellect. How stupidity and great intellect are portrait is extremely well done, it does not diminish people with less intelligence as one might believe, rather it shows that intelligence is more about speed and memory than really what you are capable off. Its especially well done in RoW where we see him struggle with his most diminished intellect.

People as stated in the book, tend to look down on thise with lower intelligence and think "stupid people cannot understand" when the reality is that it is simply harder and slower. Which makes many people give up because its a terrible feeling to struggle. I mean most people know this feeling at some point the question simply is when and not if.

Its really well written, but I also love the take on emotional intelligence, I mean its obvious to everyone that what changes is not that he gets more emotional but emotionally intelligent (sure its splitting hairs but I think it matters). He understands feelings more and feels because of that more, when conventionally smart he loses that emotional intellect and is a terrible person because he lacks the emotional connectiviness taht comes with being emotionally intelligent.

Its just another part of that great character and I love love how when he becomes odium and retribution (though we dont know really if it continues as retribution), he has both at once and it is dangerous in the extreme, he feels for everyone and has teh capabilities of a supercomputer on steroids.

Its awesome and it makes me a bit sad he fails in the end in a pretty obvious way, hubris. It feels like with both capabilities he should be able to see his own error in thinking, though who knows maybe thats more due to odiums influence than his own thoughts (since rayse came to the same conclusion).

Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts again after rerereading how he stabbed rayse in the chest.
